Why do I have to input a credit card for an itunes account?
I really just want to use the Home share capability, but it wants me to sign in using an itunes account which I don't have. Or rather I would have one, but I am required to input a credit card and I just don't do that kind of thing.

I haven't seen a good answer from this yet. You can create a new Apple ID for the store without a CC. You can remove your CC info from an already established ID (you made a purchase in iTunes), but you can't use your Apple ID for first time use in the Store without a CC.

You don't, if you follow the instructions on this page when creating an account (the instructions won't work with existing accounts) then you don't have to give credit card details, you will get a 'none' option on the payments screen : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

I know it's important to understand your charges cvette52. Have you been able to review your statements to match up this charge? Do you have postpaid or prepay service with us? Wireless or landline?

All downloads from iTunes are tied to the account that downloaded it, you can't re-download content via a different account. You checked the spam folder on yourr old account as well as the Inbox, and depending upon how long ago you did it, have you retried getting it reset : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password' ?

My friend bought an app with her credit card and I no longer have the info but every time I try to download a free app (ex: Instagram, Twitter, vine etc.) it ask for the credit cards security code. You can only remove a credit card if you are on the computer. If you are trying to remove it via a device like a iPod you will not be able to do it. However if you are on the computer you click on sign in in the upper right hand corner of iTunes, then view account then edit payment information. Once you get there click none.

No. Apple only allows for one credit card, but if it helps, you can apply iTunes Gift cards > Choose your iTunes Gift Card - Apple Store (U.S.)
Purchases are debited from the gift card balance first, the difference to your credit card.
Be aware, you can't purchase a gift card from the balance of a previously redeemed gift card and that purchases are subject to applicable taxes and fees.

I had the same problem. Go back into Verizon Tunes. At the bottom of the screen you should see 3 dots. Touch them and that will bring up additional choices, one being Downloads. In the Downloads choice is 2 bars. One bar is Pending Downloads (aka Music Inbox) the other bar shows your download history.

Apple should read this stuff once in a while.
Some prepaid cards appear to act as credit cards to the merchant. If yours is one of them it should work, but debit cards are not accepted for the iTunes Store.

Do you mean an iTunes Card, the kind sold at Wal-Mart? Sure, that will work.
"Pre-paid" and "credit" are mutually exclusive.
I believe this way of thinking about it ought to be valid: if you need a PIN code, the card won't work.
I don't use debit cards so I can't be certain if this will apply consistently, but let me know if that makes sense. -

then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.
