I have been having the exact same problem since buying my new HP Powerbook laptop. Windows 7 64bit running IE9. The strange thing is it is rather sporadic I can watch numerous youtube vids fine, and then all of a sudden, I start getting the error where the Exclamaition Mark shows up and then other times when there is a notice that HTML5 or Flash is not installed. I then reinstall Flash, and vids work againg until the next time this happens. The problem also sometimes appear to clear up after rebooting. Why does this keep happening?

Thanks for your help, but that didn't do any good either. I have been double clicking from the download files, double clicking on the "install adobe flash player", closing the anti virus, closing Safari, watching the install progress and clicking finish. It indicates that "flash player" is installed, but every time I try to view something requiring flash player, it tells me I must download it. It shows up in the "system preference" and from there I can make some changes, but it still won't let me view anything requiring "flash player". It does not show up in my apps like Adobe Reader does. Exactly where are you getting your Flash from? It is quite free from the maker, no password needed.

Wow, IE for Mac is pretty old. What Mac OS are you using? I'm 99% sure you're going to need an older version of the Player, but I'll need to know the OS version to figure out which one.

Why Do I Have Multiple Versions of Adobe Flash Plugins in FireFox

Hello,
I usually have 2 versions of Adobe Flash plugins installed in Firefox at the same time: the most recent version and the prior version which remains behind after an update. I usually disable the older version but sometimes this also affect the updated version leaving me without Flash capability in FireFox.
This week I updated FireFox's Adobe Flash plugin to 12.0.0.43 but was surprised to discover the 2 prior Flash versions also remained. Now Firefox had 3 versions of Adobe Flash plugins. I discovered the Adobe Flash uninstaller and uninstalled all Flash from my computer. Surprisingly when I reinstalled Flash player in FireFox, again 2 versions were installed: 12 and 11. I attempted to use the uninstaller on FireFox alone but it did not recognize the older Flash plugin, only the updated version 12.
The recent Adobe Flash update, version 12, is a 'Critical Security' update. Therefore, I am a bit anxious to resolve this issue. I hope you can assist me with this issue.

I might have thought the uninstaller would have found and deleted the old FlashPlayer. Maybe it was a custom install and in an odd location. (I suppose another possibility is that registry entries are wrong).
Try totally uninstalling FlashPlayer using the Windows Control panel, before re-installing. Then check with the FlashPlayer uninstaller before reinstalling again.
Note whilst doing this that Windows Internet Explorer has its own FlashPlayer plugin that is separate. You will need to reinstall both the Fx fox & IE plugins afterwards. Also note that for 32bit Firefox you will need the 32 bit FlashPlayer.

Essentially the online installer, which you're using downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background. For some reason, the download is failing. Please try the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the 'Still having problems' section.

Have to keep updating adobe flash player

I must update my adobe flash player every other day. I run windows 7, 64 bit.
I play many games, i keep getting a message that my adobe flash player has to be updated. It's not possble that there are this many updates. If this continues I have to find a different flash player. This is extremely annoying;
I use internet explorer 9.
I starting reading thru other things on this forum and I see I am not the only one with this problem. However, i am always getting the message that adobe flash was successfully installed. I am not going to uninstall my virus protection or all the other nonsense that other people have tried. There are two versions of the Flash Player plugin. One is ActiveX and only works in IE. It sounds like you have that one installed. The other one works in all other browsers.
What seems to be happening is that you have security software that's blocking one of those versions of Flash/restoring your computer state and so it gets uninstalled when you start your computer. The other possibility is that there are permission issues. Unfortunately, this isn't something that Firefox can control; it's a problem with the Flash installation (Firefox is dumb and just looks in the registry for a list of installed plugins to load).
Make sure that you're an admin on your computer when you try to install Flash and that you check your security settings. If that doesn't work, try posting to the [http://forums.adobe.com/community/flashplayer Adobe community forums] to see if other people have had similar issues and know how to address them.
