Why do i have to pay to continue iPhoto

i use iPhoto for my pictures. have been for years.
why ois it not a free app and that photo app is the only

Why do you think iPhoto is not free?
What happened? Did you just upgrade to Yosemite and iPhoto is gone from the Dock?
Look into your Applications folder. Is iPhoto there? Then drag it back to the Dock and try to launch it.
If the iPhoto icon is crossed out, you need to update to iPhoto 9.6.1. Only that version is fully compatible with MacOS X 10.10.3.
Apple stopped selling iPhoto, but anyone who bought iPhoto from the AppStore or updated it to a version sold at the App Store (iPhoto 9.4.5 or later) will be able to reinstall from the App Store by downloading from the Purchases tab.
If you have any version of iPhoto, that has been updated from the AppStore and is associated with your Apple ID, try to reinstall from the "Purchases" page.
Unhide iPhoto, if it is hidden on your Purchases page (See this link: Mac App Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases)
Trash the incompatible iPhoto version, but don't empty the Trash.
Reload your Purchases page at the App Store with ⌘R
Then download from that page.
The step "Trash the incompatible iPhoto version, but don't empty the Trash."  must not be skipped. If Spotlight sees a version of iPhoto installed, the AppStore will try to update instead of reinstall, which does not work.

  • Verizon's failure, why do I have to pay?

As a long-time - and still current - customer of Verizon, I'm shocked at how poorly I am being treated. I cancelled my phone in December because my company gave me a phone (also Verizon). At that time I gave Verizon my new mailing address, email, and phone number- which they did not update in their system. So they continued to mail my final bill to my old address, which never made it to me, until now.
They did not email, they did not call; they instead sent the bill to collections. I called Verizon and paid the outstanding bill, come to find out after the fact that I am also required to pay the fee for collections. They, however, did not tell me this at the time I made my payment (another mistake by Verizon), I was informed by the collection agency that I am required to pay them or my credit report will be negatively affected. Verizon dropped the ball. They did not send the bill to the right address, they did not call, they did not email. The sent it to collections.
Of course no one at Verizon will work with me, a good customer. I'm waiting for someone's supervisor to call, yet I have little faith that they will give a crap about little ol' me. I just want Verizon to take some accountability for their shortcomings in this situation. Why do I have to pay for their mistake? What more should I have done? This is unfair.

I verified my information over the phone with a customer service representative when I called to cancel my account. I'm not sure how I could have verified that they properly put this into the system, other than getting verbal confirmation - which I did. They got the new email address correct, I know this because when I called this week to settle my bill, I received a confirmation to the correct email address. However, the mailing address apparently was not updated properly - as per my request - in the system. If you go into MyVerizon under Account Profile, your billing address is listed along with the option to change it. By making changes to your account, you have real time confirmation of the changes. - So you're saying not to trust the customer service representatives? I'm required to make sure they do simple tasks properly? Besides, I was canceling my account - why would I then go online to change my account that I just cancelled - especially since I just verbally gave my new information? Again, the root of this issue that you are not responding to goes back to the fact that the customer service representative did not do as I requested and update my address - which is why I never received notification. Had this been done properly, none of this would have happened.
I just received a pile of mail from the post office of mail that did not get transferred to my new address - of which included the bill from Verizon and the notification from collections. I had assumed that the lack of correspondence - via mail, email and phone - from Verizon meant that my account was settled. Personally, I don't make it a habit of calling businesses and asking them if I owe them money. I expect them to contact me. Unless you sign up for email notifications from Verizon for you bill, they will not send it via that method. It appears that they DID try to contact you when they sent the bill to your old address. It also appears that you failed to use a FREE service from the US Postal Service which forwards your mail to a new address for up to a year. I have done this in the past, it works and only delays mail for a few days. Plenty of time to get your final bill in time for payment without being overdue. I can understand not contacting businesses to see if you owe them money, but you cancelled service. If I were to cancel service, I would assume that I either owed money or due a refund and would make sure which it was. - I was set up to receive email notifications from Verizon - a service I used for that account for years.  I did have my mail forwarded through the post office, but some was still delivered to the old address anyway and it just made it's way to me now. Verizon's lack of contact with me lead me to believe that either 1)the account was settled, or 2)any remaining balance was transferred to my new account - which I do not see the bill for as my company pays for it.
Why would Verizon not try to contact me via email or phone? Sending an overdue bill to collections is a big deal - it affects my credit report. Does Verizon care so little about it's customers that they wouldn't even try to contact by email before making such a drastic move?Even if simply to verify the mailing address? This seems to be as much your failing(if not more) as it is Verizon's failing. As you say, it is YOUR credit report, not Verizon's. You have more of a stake in this than they do, why wouldn't you follow up in this matter? Even if simply to verify the mailing address? - Again, going back to the root of this issue - CUSTOMER SERVICE. I should be able to expect that if I tell someone my new address, it will be reflected in the system. I should be able to assume that I would be notified by email for a matter like this, especially since they have my email and have permission to use it and had been using it for years to notify me of bills, why stop now? Why is the buck passed to me to pay this new fee for a mistake that originated with Verizon? Why can't Verizon admit any wrong doing at the root of this issue - where they dropped the ball?

  • Why do i have to pay £25 to end my contract?

    Hiya
I was wondering if anyone can tell me why i have to pay a £25 administration fee because my contract has come to an end and i dont want to continue it. Of course i am used to BTs hidden fees but i dont think this is fair as i cant see what i am paying for. I agreed to 12months and in that time i have paid over the odds anyway so why should i have to pay more now the contract is up? has anyone else been told they have to pay this?
    thanks

You agreed to the T&C's when you signed up with BT Broadband, if you had requested a MAC to move to another ISP then there would be no fee.
Just looked at the T&C's I see they are putting it up to £30 from October, its amazing how much it costs to push a couple of buttons.
Just to be clear, this charge isn't just BTBroadband, and it involves rather more than just pushing a couple of buttons !
It's a charge made to all Service Providers, for the cost incurred in physically disconnecting the line from the DSL equipment, so that somebody else can use it.  Openreach don't do these things for nothing !
If a MAC is used to migrate to another Service Provider, the actual cessation is deferred until the provision of the broadband service through A.N.Other ISP, and is rolled up into the provision cost that's charged to the new ISP - who often doesn't pass this cost on to the customer directly, but it's recouped in the course of the 12/18/24 month minimum term that the new customer agrees to.

You must contact iTunes support to get the problem resolved.
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
If there is a problem with your account or payment info, you cannot
download anything (including free apps or updates) until the matter
    is resolved.
In countries where the iTunes Store only sells apps, the accepted payment methods are Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Other payment types such as gift cards, store credit, monthly allowances, ClickandBuy, and PayPal are not accepted. Depending on your App Store country, prices may be listed in your local currency, US Dollars, or Euros.    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5552

  • Why do I have to pay more?

So I want to buy a Production PRemium CS6.
It costs 1899$ in the US and almost 2200$ in Russia. And Adobe does not allow me to buy it in the US store for I have registere my account in Russia.
What the ...? It's digital download, why do I have to pay some "resellers" (can I really call them resellers?) for a link to Adobe servers?
So generally speaking, Adobe guys, you do understand that if there's a product that costs 300$ less somewhere else people will go and buy there.
And if it is forbidden to buy there (why pay more), there're always such great resources as demonoid?

Adobe charges different amounts for their software in different countries. Part of this is due to support costs, infrastructure costs, and taxes in each country. Another part is due to what Adobe thinks the market will bear.  Complaints have raged for years on the different costs for Adobe software in different countries. Adobe has never officially addressed the cost differential in an official response in these forums. If you want to make your feelings known to Adobe corporate, then I would urge you to write at:

  • Why do I have to pay to get help for Itunes?

First off, why do I have to pay to get help?
That is absolutely ridiculous when it is someone's JOB to be a "support" for this.
I've had a reoccuring problem of my music not playing on my IPhone. I fixed it the first time by taking off all the music then re-syncing it and it was all good. This time I am trying to take all of the music off so I can try to do the same thing as before because this is happening yet AGAIN and now my ITunes isn't taking the music off and it is re-syncing it back and it isn't taking the music off in the first place. Why is it doing this? Well I'm basically venting to a community while getting no help from experts. Thank you for nothing Apple.

Apple provides telephone support for their hardware products at no charge for 90 days after purchase. If you are beyond that period and do not have AppleCare on your device, then you will be charged for the support call. If you don't want to pay, you can either make an appointment at an Apple Store, if you have one in your area, where you will be helped at no charge, or you can post details of the problem here where perhaps we, your fellow users, can assist.
I'm basically venting to a community while getting no help from experts.
You're getting no help because you're just venting, and most people here just ignore rants. You haven't posted sufficient details about your issue for anyone to offer much in the way of assistance.
Posting the same complaint twice does little good, by the way.
    Regards.

iTunes Plus is the name for the option in iTunes that allows customers to buy music at the iTunes Store that is free from digital rights management, or DRM.
Digital Rights Management, or DRM, is designed to prevent unauthorized sharing of files. This especially became a big concern for the music industry after the rise of Napster, Limewire, and Kazaa.
DRM, even the DRM used by Apple on iTunes Store content, prevented that. Apple's DRM allowed users to share files on only up to 5 computers.
According to TUAW, the new iTunes Plus songs have information embedded in them that identifies the user who bought and shared them by name.
This means that if you share your music and record companies want to track you down and sue for you copyright infringement, it's going to be easy.
This may help you understand why you would need iTunes Plus - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1711.
It may be that Android required that type of file to be able to let it sync.  See here - http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html.

  • Why do I have to pay for free aps?

Why do I have to pay for free ads. I look in my bank
Statements and says they charge like 3 dollars but the ad
Says free. This isnt right nor is it fair I already paid 300
For the itouch why charge me for the free aps. It's not like I
Don't buy things from the ap store. No I don't not download
    Pro -aps.

The price of an app, and how it is marketed, is controlled by that app's developer. They certainly may advertise that an app is free, but the App Store price is the only price. If the App Store says the app is free (ie, the download button says "Free" instead of listing a price), then it's free.
If you are seeing a bill in your bank statement for a free app, that is probably coming from some kind of in-app purchase. Many apps have additional features or special game items that can be purchased within the app. A free app may still have such in-app purchases.
It's important to note that in-app purchasing should be a very transparent process. It should be made clear that you are making a purchase, and you should have to enter your Apple ID password. If you have found an app that does not make this process transparent, and hides the fact that a purchase with real money is being made, that needs to be reported to Apple as a violation of the App Store rules. If Apple agrees with you, they will remove the app from the store until the developer submits a more compliant update.

  • Why do I have to pay for iPages when I already have it on my computer?

My iCloud home page shows five icons including iWork. When I click on the iWork icon I am shown a link that takes me to the iTunes store where I am asked to pay $9.99 for each of the iWork components. I already have these installed on my iMac. Why do I have to pay for them again?

Different operating systems. Your iMac runs OS X and the iWork
applications you have on your iMac are written for OS X. On your
iDevice, the operating system is iOS and you would need a version
of the apps written for that. If you are not planninig to use the apps
on your iDevice (iPhone, iPad, some iPods), you do not need to
buy them. Having the apps on your iDevices provides instant
syncing of documents across the iDevices using iCloud. iCloud
does not provide Google App-like operation if that is what you are
seeking. If this does not answer your question, perhaps someone
    else will chime in.

  • Why do I have to pay for a app on my iPhone when I have it already on my Ipad

Why do I have to pay for a app on my iPhone when I have it already on my Ipad

That's up to the seller of the app. Many, but not all, apps will work on both the iPhone and iPad. For those apps that do you only need to pay for them once, as long as they were purchased with the same Apple ID. But app developers have the option of selling separate versions of their app for iPhone and iPad. For those apps you have to pay for them for each platform.

    Hi;
The Free offering of FormsCentral provides users with a lot of useful features.  There has to be a line somewhere for the subscription level service and Email Receipts and Notifications are part of that premium service.

  • I have a mac 10.5.8, Why do i have to pay for the 10.6 update?

Friends of mine have Mac's and had the update with no hassle free of charge, so why do i have to pay?

    Hi,
The current upgrade to Snow Leopard is only $29.00 available here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
The Apple Discussions TOU prevents us from discussing when the next upgrade will be available or how much it will cost.
    See: Terms of Use
There's no guarantee you won't be able to upgrade directly from Leopard v10.5 to v10.7. You are better off upgrading to Snow Leopard now especially if you want to use the Mac App Store.
