Why do i have to re-render 8 bit uncompressed in timeline?

hey there, can anyone help?
ripped vid off dvds, then converted to 'Apple FCP Uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2'
when i bring these files into FCP and set the seq settings to 'uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2' it makes me re-render the files in the timeline.
i have a TON of footage, and rendering takes FOREVER...
any help?

wish it were that simple. i can't get the original masters. i must rip from dvds to be later projected, so i had to use an uncompressed setting. i tested a bunch and 8-bit seemed to look the best.
what do you mean drop into the sequence and let final cut tell you? i've tried a bunch of things, like start a new proj and re-set seq settings. are they 2 diff codecs? doesn't make sense why i would have to re-render...

On a Mac, Firefox 4 is a 64 bit application.
Not all plugins support 64 bit and if not then you need to start Firefox in 32 bit mode to use that plugin.

Why do I have to render every video clip?

Every clip I put in FCE has to be rendered, why? Is there a setting I have to change? I have a canon hv-20 and I'm using the 1080i setting in the easy setup menu. Thanks for any help!

If they are identical then I can't help you. There is no reason why you would have to render. Which is that you have to render, video or audio or both? The render line is divided is divided into two thin stripes, upper for video, lower for audio.

Hey People...I just got a brand new smokin' MAC with Premiere Pro 6...have been editing with Premiere for 10+ years...why do I have to render simple titles??? I could have three layers of video and not have to render, but a simple title needs to be rendered???!!! WHY?? This did not happen in all previous versions of Premiere that I used...which leads me to believe it's some sort of setting issue...HELP ME PLEASE:)

Titles, rather like Still Images in the Timeline, are "synthetic Video," so for the ultimate playback, one would Render them. Now, I seldom find playback of Un-Rendered Titles to be an issue, and usually on do so, if I have adjusted, say Effect>Motion>Position, or Motion>Scale, or similar. Then, I might Render that portion of the Timeline, and maybe several times, if I am adjusting the Effects' parameters.

Have to re-render tha same portion of movie. Why?

Simply moving from FCE to another active application (command-tab) and returning to FCE causes the need to re-render the same portion of my movie; always the same portion... What can cause this behaviour? This doesn't happen on other portions of the movie...

Every Application I switch to, I encounter the same issue...
Clips are all about 10 to 20 secs .flv
I discovered that:
If I close and reopen the FCE document the rendering red bar disappeares, and all is fine..but if I switch to any application and return to FCE the red bar comes back and I have to re-render......

I'm new to FCE (using FCE 3.5.1 on MacBook Pro) and have found that I often have to render imported files when i move them to the timeline. For instance ... i have taken an AVI file, converted it to a .mov file with ffmpegx and imported it into FCE. I grab a sample section and move it from the viewer to the canvas so I can see it in the timelines at the bottom. However, with this type of file i find I always have to render. Is this normal? Seems a little tedious if i have to do this every time. Is there a way to have it "automatically render?"
I've played with FCE 2 and iMovie so I'm pretty ignorant so my apologies in advance if this is obvious or I'm not being clear.

FCE is a DV / HDV application. It's best if you convert your material to DV prior to importing it into FCE. In ffmpegx make sure you select the DV codec when you do your conversion. By selecting MOV in ffmpegx you are probably getting MPEG4 in a MOV container, which is why you have to render in FCE.
MPEG Streamclip is an alternative converter that seems more popular with FCE users in this forum.

Why do I have to keep rendering?!?

I installed Final Cut Pro HD. I set the frame rate sequence preset at 640x480 (i.e., the frame rate of all my imported video) and it's still forcing me to render it. Could someone kindly walk me through the setup (Easy Setup, Audio/Video settings, etc.) so I don't have to keep rendering 640x480 video? It'd be greatly appreciated.

Pixel dimensions are but a very small part of the picture. Codec and frame rate also come in play. Obviously the sequence settings don't match every setting of the clips you are trying to import:

Your clip settings MUST match your timeline settings. If you have DV/NTSC material, you need a DV/NTSC timeline. The frame rate, audio rate and dimensions (4:3, 16:9) all need to match exactly. In Final Cut Pro 6, this is easy, because when you drop a clip into the timeline, it asks if you want to set up the timeline to match the settings of the first clip you drag into it. Click YES and you are ready to go.
However, in FCP 5.1 and earlier, it is a bit trickier.
The most important thing you need to do is properly set up your project from the start, and the best way to do this is to choose a setting from the Easy Setups, located under the Final Cut Pro menu.
Once you do this, you’ll need to create a new sequence. This is because the sequence that is already in your new project is setup for the typical default setting of DV/NTSC, or for the settings of your last project, which might not match what you are currently working with. So delete SEQUENCE 1 and create a new sequence:
This new sequence will contain the settings you chose in the Easy Setup menu, and should match the format you captured.

WHY!?!?! Why do I have to make a CSS RULE with every Font Change

I am no major developer, but I have been using dreamweaver to build basic HTML sites for years. Just downloaded CS5 and I am ready to put my fist through the screen.
I am creating a NEW HTML document. I dont know much about CSS so I am avoiding it.
So I create a few tables, put text in the table, and go to change the attibutes like size, color, etc. Now I need to define it by making a CSS rule. Ok, perhaps I am a bit behind, but I selected a new HTML document, NOT CSS. Why do I have to define anything with CSS?
Yes, this is a basic basic thing I am trying to do. For years if I wanted to change the color, size, position, etc of some simply text in DW, it would just do it. I would never be asked to make a rule.

This question comes up a lot and it always interests me. If you choose a profession, why would you choose something you don't want to continue learning about? Would you be mad if your mechanic wouldn't repair your hybrid car engines because they only want to work on engines from the muscle cars of the 60s and 70s? Or would you prefer a doctor only give you penicillin for everything because they don't want to learn about the modern advances in medicine? It just doesn't make sense.
Best advise I can give you is that CSS is the way all web browsers and email clients are going whether through the use of attached style sheets with defined styles, or with inline styles for email security reasons. CSS is the styling for anything web based. Even if you are not in a CSS document, HTML pages use CSS to render styles from colors and margins to borders and backgrounds. Then if you use a rule over and over you don't have to click through this color and that size and that underline with this font. You just select a style where you want it and keep going. The learning is worth the time invested.

Why do I have extra songs in my iPhone playlist that are not on my iTunes library?

After doing the iOS7 update (and iOS7.0.2) I decided to add my music to my phone (I never had music on it before).
I discovered that there were 20 very random and obscure broadway songs that were on my iPhone in addition to the 60 songs I just synced. They had the iCloud icon by them, unlike the songs I had just added.
After doing research I found that the broadway songs were technically "purchased" on iTunes although they are not songs I would have ever purchased- in fact I have never once purchased anything on iTunes. This isn't my worry though, I am assuming it must have been some random free download I did at some point?
I went to settings > music > and turned show all music off. This did NOT work for all of them and only solved the problem 80%. There are still 4 of the random song on my iPhone. They DO NOT show up in my iTunes library on my computer and don't even exist on my computer.
With the other songs I can left swip and delete but these 4 songs won't! Why won't these four songs left swipe?
I am going crazy and have tried restarting my phone, restarting iTunes, re-syncing, turning off the iCloud. NOTHING WORKS.
Please help. I am a normally a very smart and tech-savvy person and I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I don't want to wipe everything- which as a solution is a pretty weak solution.

I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!! (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)
Should solve your problem :~)

Why do I have "Unified Info" and plain "Info" categories in my iPhone Contacts?

I have an iPhone 3GS (iOS 5.0.1), an iMac (OS X v10.7.3) and an iCloud account. All are set to sync several things, but the topic of this inquiry is my Contacts. I've noticed that when I open any given Contact listing on my iPhone, each is headed by one of two lines: "Unified Info" or plain "Info." At the bottom of a "Unified Info" contact listing are two lines showing me "Linked Cards," one being for iCloud and the other for iPhone. On the one headed plain "Info" there are no Linked Cards showing at the bottom of the contact listing. As noted above, my system is set so that the Contacts in my iPhone, my iCloud account and my iMac (which is further set to keep both my and my wife's contacts sync'd, as well) all read the same. So why do I have these two "types" of entries on my iPhone? I should note that all the important information in all three places (iPhone, iMac and iCloud) - name, numbers, addresses, etc. - IS THE SAME, but why do they have diffefent headings on my iPhone!?! Any explanation from someone knowledgeable about this would be appreciated, and is there any way I can get - or should want to get - all the Contact entries on my iPhone to be "Unified Info" entries? I've got the same problem. Showed up after trying they 'sync google contacts' feature in Address Book/iTunes. Suddenly I have duplicates of all my Contacts. Address Book doesn't see any duplicates using the 'Find Duplicates...' feature. In Address Book I can only tell the difference between the duplicates by comparing the information in them. The new ones (presumably from Google) are missing fields like URL and birthday. On the iPhone, however, the names have these squares after them. These squares don't show up in Address Book (if they did it would make it much easier to delete them all).

Why do i have to have my cellular data turned on to recieve or send TEXT messages?

my girlfriend and i have noticed this most recently.
To send or recieve TEXT messages (not MMS) on our iPhone 5's we have to have our *cellular data* turned on. OMG why? It's supposed to not use cellular data for texting (or callling) so why do we have to have it switched on for TEXT messages (SMS)? Does that mean that texting is now going to eat our data plans? If so, we'd of been better off with our old cell phones.

because my g/f and i couldnt get each other's txts, over 3/4 of the time, if the cellular data wasnt turned on.
green bubble = sms.
blue bubble=imessage (data or wifi)
all this was with (blue bubble) imessage stuff (with the thought that it'd use wifi, but the wifi at work *****, so ofcourse it'll use data.
Hmmn. I'm going to shut off iMessage and see if that takes care of the issue.
