Why do I have to restore my iphone after this latest software update?

I have just synced my iphone 5, and downloaded/updates it to the latest software update which was available, but now it wants me to restore my phone to factory settings???? Why this time, it hasn't ever asked asked me to do this before? Is it safe?

restore to factory settings mean deleting everything you put on the phone making it as it were when it was shipped from the factory

I kept all my iPhones after I upgrading to the latest one each time my 2 year contract was up so I have an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S. I actually still use all 3 phones for different purposes. My iphone 3gs is not activated, but I still use it for apps among other things when connected to wifi. So I had to restore my entire phone from scratch & because I didn't check to make sure that had a recent back up right before I updated I ended up losing a lot of important information. So anyway since my iphone 3GS I knew had a recent back up & plus it doesn't have a lot of important information stored on it I chose to go ahead & update it first. Then later on when I went to update my other two iPhones I noticed the notification that was there before on all my phones to let me know the update was available was now gone & it would not give me the option to update either of my other two phones. I don't know if this is true or not, but I was later told that Apple will only let you download the free update software on only one device on each iTunes account & since I have all 3 devices on one itunes account I could only choose to update one. I didn't know this beforehand so I used the update on my 3GS which I barely use except to play with on wifi & now my other two iPhones which are the main ones I use are both activated now function very slow & constantly crash. Also if I was to choose to sale one of the iPhones without the latest software update on it does that mean that the new owner will not be able to get the latest update meaning the phone would be out of date without having that latest software installed? If anyone knows how to help me fix this or give some advice I would really appreciate!!

That's utter non-sense.
Just connect your 4 & 4S, iTunes running, & hit the "Check for Updates" button, or you can update directly on the phones(if running iOS 5.0 or higher): Settings>General>Software Update.
iOS 6.1.3 is the current iOS version for both phones.

All iPhones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked by the carrier. If you unlocked it, it was by unauthorized means (hacked), and support cannot be given to you in this forum.
Hacked iPhones are subject to countermeasures by Apple, particularly when updating the firmware. It is likely permanently re-locked or permanently disabled.

How much data is being backed-up from each Mac? (see what's shown for Estimated size of full backup under the exclusions box in Time Machine Prefs > Options).
Is there any other data on your Time Capsule, besides the backups?
Most likely, there just isn't room. Time Machine may be trying to do a very large (or full) backup of one or both Macs, and can't. Since it won't ever delete the most recent backup, there has to be enough room for one full backup plus whatever it's trying to back up now, plus 20% (for workspace).

My iphone keeps dying and I have to restore my iphone repeatedly. I just restored as a new devise last week. Today I tried uninstalling and installing an app that refused to open and all my apps disappeared even the pre-installed ones like mesaages, itunes, phone and such? Is it time to get a new phone?

I still have a fully operational original iPhone so while it absolutely can, that doesn't mean that it will. There's a number of things that could cause this. You could check with your local Apple Store to see if it can be repaired but personally I would just get a new one in your scenario.

As for the problem and help, I just stopped by AT&T and they took care of it.
As for my disparaging remarks, it is the way I feel and felt like voicing it at the moment. As I recall this is still a free country (Obama thankfully has not been able to screw everything up) and I personally have never liked apple products or software. That’s my personal opinion, it is crap. This particular phone is supplied by corporate and I will get a different phone as soon as request is approved. MS software has always been much better than apple products in my experience and at a much better price.

Why do I have to restore my Iphone 5s once a week?

I have a 16GB Iphone 5s. Almost once a week I have to restore my phone. Here is the list of things that it does:
1) It restarts on its own for no reason.
2) I can't delete apps and the screen freezes
3)It will ask me for my icloud password all the time
4)It will loose my contact names in my text message section
5)It will not send a texts sometimes and people sending me texts will say msg fail
6) I completely lost Verizon service and had to restore
7)Goes to the restore screen to plug into a computer on its own
8)Randomly displays device storage almost full. I have had this phone since August Help?!

That is really odd, slimbwoozha. All of those things should not be occurring. Prior to performing the restore, are you performing a full factory reset of your phone? Do these issues still occur after the factory reset, without performing the restore?

Connecting through email is extremely important these days donhinson. Let's get this fixed today. I first recommend removing the email account and readding it back to your device.This will help reset the settings. Listed below are steps to check the email settings, outgoing, and incoming servings.
1.From a home screen, select Apps (located in the lower-right).
2. Select Email.
3. From an Inbox, select Menu ( located below the display).
4.Select Account settings.
5.Select Account display name.
6.Enter an name then select OK.
7.Select My name.

ITunes won't pickup iPhone after downloading latest software

I recently downloaded the latest iTunes software 10.5.2 on my macbook pro and now my iphone won't register when I plug it in.
iTunes opens but it won't show any devices.
I've googled it and it seems a number of others have had similar problems. Some advised to trash the iTunes version and reinstall it but others said they did this and it worked for the first instance but after rebooting iTunes didn't pickup the iphone again.
Before I attempt this, has anyone out there had this issue and knows how to solve it?

If they are synced to iCloud and appear on icloud.com, they will reappear on your phone when you sign back into your account. As a precaution, you could use an app like My Contacts Backup to back them up before you restore if you wish. I would also recommend as a precaution that you import your camera roll photos and videos to your computer before restoring, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

You will have to restore and thus erase the iPod. If you stuff is in a backup y can restore from backup. Otherwise it is lost.
