Why do I have to use iPhoto to add photos to iBook Author?

As a photographer my photos are all in Lightroom and I use Photoshop.  I don't own and don't intend to own Aperture and have long since stopped using iPhoto.  While I love Apple products and own lots of them, I don't want to have to maintain a separate system just to use iBook Author.  I've been wanting some time to play with this for ages and have some ideas for books that I really want to play with but ....  photos and video are an issue for me.  I don't use iMovie either, I use either Final Cut Pro or Premiere.  Please, please tell me there is another way to use media with iBook Author???
Frustrated ....

Hey Herbgarden,
Media can be dragged from the Finder or from another application directly into iBooks Author.
You can also add media files (such as images) to a page by dragging them from the Media Browser, the Finder, or another application.

    That was the first thing I check, my X no longer exist, the app still works fine and does everything it did in the past, the the x (delete) option is no longer there.  I have deleted and redownloaded the app and did a complete reset, X still not there as an option.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

  • Why do i have to use nextLine() when there is an InputMismatchException

    I dont understand why do i have to use this line of code to avoid an infinite loop here...help appreciated.
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.util.InputMismatchException;
    public class InputTest {
         public static void main(String [] args){
         Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
         int n = 0;
         while(true){
              try{
                   System.out.println("Input a number:");
                   n = in.nextInt();
                   break;
              }catch(InputMismatchException exc){
                   System.out.println("Error, non-valid input.");
                   //in.nextLine(); <--If i use this line of code it doesn't get into an infinite loop
                             System.out.println("Integer read is: " + n);
    }

    When i run the program if i input something that triggers the exception, it infinitely loops through the question and the catch method block outputs, weirdest thing of all is that i can't even input again after the exception is thrown, but with nextLine() it avoids that, but i still dont understand why do i have to use nextLine().Exactly what I said.
    You enter "A". The exception is thrown. The "A" is not consumed. It calls nextInt on "A" again... and again... and again...
    If you do nextLine, the "A" and the newline are consumed.
    Even on good input, I don't think nextInt consumes the EOL.

  • HT201250 Why do i have to use the password for time capsule every time i start my computer

    Why do I have to use thr password for time capsuel every time I start my imac?

    With hindsight, the previous response I got from Apple was just a way of shelving the problem.
    Having just had to reset my password after another 3 months, I contacted Apple again, and it happened that the senior advisor whom the phone agent consulted had had exactly the same problem as me, and had found that iTunes could fix it.  However when I spoke to iTunes they told me I needed to speak to Apple ID account security.  The Apple ID account security representative spoke to a senior adviser, then told me that it would be fixed after I reset my password.  However I am not convinced that anything was actually done, so I may be back here in another 3 months ...
    To modify Roger's advice, the solution I was given is: go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'All Products and Services' in the first column, 'iTunes' in the second column, 'iTunes Store' in the third column, then "Account Management" and "Apple ID account security", then "Talk to Apple support now". A complication is that the "Talk to Apple support now" option only appears when UK English is selected.  So you either need to select UK at the top, or find another way of making phone contact (the email link just went back to the person in iTunes)!

    I think the usual advice is to use the Rebuild command in Library Manager.

  • The disk containing your iPhoto library is running low on space.How is this possible? I have no photos and have never used iphoto and the program is up to date.

    How is this possible? I have no photos and have never used iphoto and the program is up to date. I try to import and drop my pictues into iphoto but nothing happens or I get above statement. Help please!

    Then it's a bogus message and indicates that the default library is damaged.
    Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library' and use that one.

  • Do I have to use iPhoto?

    My iPhoto library is a total mess because I tried to alter it by grouping pix by subject, or place, splitting, merging etc. Now I can't find anything. I would prefer a system using tags where I could label each pic with person, place, date, etc. How could I do this on a mac?
    Also, on one occasion I managed to import a design which I had copied (paste special as picture) to a Word doc into iPhoto. Now I cannot remember how I managed this.

    No you don't have to use iPhoto.
    That said, if you
    prefer a system using tags where I could label each pic with person, place, date, etc.
    then it sounds awfully like a job for iPhoto which is designed exactly for these processes.

  • When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder, what happens if I delete the photo in Iphoto ? Will the original file in the folder be deleted too?

    When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder to iphoto, what happens if:
    1. I delete that photo in iphoto? will the original file in the folder be deleted too ?
    2.  when importing, does the hard disk store 2 versions of the photo, hence occupying additional space in the harddisk?

    1 - no  --  iPhoto only manages fiel within the iPhoto library - it does not ever do anything with files outside the library
    2 - No idea what you are asking - by default (and strongly recommended) iPhoto copies the original to the iPhoto library and you delete the source file outside the iPhoto library - iPhoto alwasy has at least two versions of every photo and some times three - it always have the original, a thumbnail and once a photo is modified a preview - this is not optional - if it is not what you want then iPhoto is not the correct progrtam to be using for phopto management

    What won't open? Photoshop, or the photos that you "stored in iPhoto"?

  • Can I use iphoto to open photos on an external HD?

    Can I use iphoto to open photos on an external HD?

    The iPhoto library can be located on an external drive
    Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
    And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
    And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
    you also can have a small one on the  internal drive and use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  to move photos between the two libraries

  • When using iPhoto to buy photo books, is Apple going to take ownership of my photographic material?

    Hi,
    I like iPhoto for its features and ease of use; however, I'm unclear on its privacy policy.
    When using iPhoto to buy photo books, is Apple going to take ownership of my photographic material?
    Can Apple use my pictures to advertise Apple products or services?
    I've asked these questions twice to the apple privacy postmaster, but they only reply with a boiler plate of links to get further support or they simply ignore my email. Should I assume the worse?
    I like iPhoto, but I'm not going to use it if I don't know that my privacy is satisfactorily safeguarded.
    Thank you for any insight
    Gabriele
