Why do I keep ending up with giant Pages files?

I'm creating one page Pages documents with a couple of pictures and they're saving as 19MB files! Is there an easy way to resolve this without choosing "reduce file size" which usually makes my pictures look awful? I've been using this program for over a year and it just started doing this recently.

To have images that print well they need to be 300dpi at the size they are used in the document.
Pages does not trim off the excess images outside the cropped area either.
So once you know what size and cropping you are using in Pages, note the dimensions of the pictures, take the original images into Preview.app and use the Crop and Scale there to trim to your size and make the resolution 300 dpi for print, 150 dpi for quality pdf and 100 or 72dpi for low resolution pdf.
Drag the trimmed images back into Pages and Print to pdf so you do not lose any quality.

How can I fix this problem with exporting Pages files?

Hello,
I'm having problems with exporting Pages files to Word or PDF (I haven't tried the other formats). Whenever I try to export the Page file, I get one message like this: "The document "XXXXXXX" could not be exported as "YYYYYYY". This problem started after the last Pages update, before that it was working fine. I restarted the computer, updated the OS, but the problem hasn't been solved.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Computers are made of parts made by humans and assembled by humans of materials that are not perfect.
For example, a display cable that was accidentally pinched during assembly would pass quality control testing with flying colors and would not fail until the lid had been opened and closed several times.
Likewise a display might not fail until powered on and off a few hundred times.

Why can't I import clips with foreign character file names?

I've got a series of clips with foreign character file names that FCP will not let me access via the Import->File method. Some of the offending character sets include Chinese, Arabic, and a couple of less well known Unicode sets like Cherokee and Inuktitus.
What's interesting is that I can easily drag the clips onto the TL manually via Finder, but not File->Import. Also, XML passed to FCP that includes foreign character file names is ignored. Seeing as FCP is an Apple product I would have expected proper Unicode support 4 years ago.
Obviously I don't need a workaround per se... But I'd very much like to know why this is the way it is. We're developers doing development work for FCP so it's important for us.

If I use Migration Assistant to transfer files a second time from my iMac to my Macbook Pro, will I end up with doubles of files on my Macbook?

I used Migration Assistant from my Time Machine for my iMac to my Macbook Pro (I'm pretty sure) when setting up my new laptop to transfer files I wanted from my desktop; now I have new files on my iMac that I'd like to transfer, and I'm wondering if Migration Assistant will send files that I already transferred to my Macbook again, thus creating doubles of files on my Macbook

Migration Assistant creates a new account to transfer files from another Mac, so you will end with doubles of files on the MacBook.
To avoid this, you can go with the easier way: get an external drive, copy all the files you have on your iMac to the external drive, connect it to the MacBook and copy the files on the external drive to the folder you want to.
Another way is to transfer them through your network. If you have OS X Lion or Mountain Lion on both Macs and they are connected to the same network, use AirDrop to transfer your files. Simply open a Finder window on the iMac and choose AirDrop in the sidebar. Then, drag the files you want to transfer to your MacBook Pro's icon.
Finally, if you have FireWire in both Macs, you can use Target Disk mode on your iMac (hold the T key while your iMac is starting), so your MacBook Pro will detect your iMac's hard drive as an external drive and you will be able to transfer whatever you need

How to keep Korean fonts when converting .pages file to .epub file

Hi, I am also asking about embedding Korean fonts other than English when converting .pages file to .epub file.
I really like to use application for Mac in order to make certain file format for e-books though there seems to be some problem that should be improved.
Please answer to my question and help me to find the best way to make .epub file with Mac.

You should have no problem keeping your text in Korean when you convert to .epub from .pages. Are you saying that the Korean is converted to something else? Please provide more details about what is not working the way you want.
Pages can't embed fonts, you would have to use another app. But there is no need to embed fonts to create Korean books.

Why does Firefox keep installing Miro with every new update ?

Some months ago I downloaded Miro, although I never made much use of it.After the recent Firefox update to 3.6.4 I noticed that used memory suddenly jumped by around 20 % and when I investigated in Resource Monitor I found that Miro had started running 2 processes in the background which were consuming considerable resources. I also found that my address bar had been hijacked by a change in the keyword:URlL setting. None of these problems had come up prior to the 3.6.4 update. I uninstalled Miro, restored my keyword setting,and successfully killed it's processes. I used Revo uninstaller pro and I am certain that nothing was left behind. But after the next Firefox update to 3.6.6 I noticed a sudden jump in memory usage and then discovered that Miro had re-installed and had begun running the same 2 processes. I have now gone to considerable time and trouble to deal with this problem twice in one week and I would appreciate an explanation as to why Miro is re-installing every time i update Firefox.

Why mozilla thunderbird keeps finding faults with my mailing lists

Why suddenly Thunderbird decided to find all kinds of problems with all of my Mailing Lists ? They were ALL working fine; and I have not gone in to change any of these Mailing Lists. How can I make it work properly - like before ???

Why do I keep getting problems with Apple not recognizing my email password? This suddenly started and just reminds me of the mess that mobileme was. Calendar dev also is not working. What a complete mess!

Can't access my email - endless messages saying password is wrong, which it is not. Mobileme all over again. I now need to forward all Apple mail to GMail, which is how an email system should work. Same is true with the calendar - a complete mess on the integration with my Google calendar.
This is really, really a pain!!

OK this is Cormacin Texas - these idiots have put me through the hoops, effectively locking me out of the support forum. Anyway I've solved the problem - it took 3.5 hours, involved a trip to the Genius bar at the local Apple store, and one and a half hours escalating through the dial-in help support - which was about the only thing the Genius was good for.
What you need to know is:
1. Apple are having problems with their servers, but have not published the fact - we've all wasted a lot of time because these guys want to keep their Customer Sat scores high, I guess. (I'm starting to feel like one of their Chinese factory workers!)
2. This server problem is compounded by the fact that it only affects a few random servers
3. It in turn can lead to problems sending emails which require you to change your Apple Mail password, and in my case surgically remove bad records for various hidden email and library folders. (Good luck with that!)
So, a problem that they hide, a knock-on set of work that the problem indirectly causes, which they also hide, and a support structure that is geared for hardware, not the services that they are now selling.
My suggestion is to change your mail password using the web (icloud.com) access to Mail and see if that works. After that, remove and reset up your Apple email (Preferences) and pray that you don't have to join endless telephone answering lines where some of the folks will cut you off because they can't be arsed.
The two guys that finally helped me were brilliant, knew their stuff and could not have done a better job. The key guy was Danny - if you get him, your golden!

Why do you keep changing everything with each iTunes Update?

Don't get me wrong, iTunes is great but WHY DO YOU CONSTANTLY MOVE AND CHANGE EVERYTHING FOR NO REAL BENEFIT WITH EACH UPDATE?
I just updated to iTunes 12 and spent the best part of an hour trying to find things like my sidebar, Apple TV 1 (yes it still works and I use it every day) and figure out how everything is sorted.
IF IT AINT BROKE WHY FIX IT?
I'm getting to a point now where I am so suspicious updating anything that I just won't do it anymore ... Apple, is this the attitude you want from your customers?

Why does CS6 keep having issues with QT32 Server?? Im on a MAC and cannot uninstall QuickTime...

This is not the first time that CS6 has had issues with the QT32 Server.
When opening PP, it stalls on ExporterQuicktimehost.bundle, same for AE and Encoder.
How can i get rid of this issue!!!!

No i don't. It seems to be connected with all the QT and h.264 codecs. But i need those codecs for my work...

If you and your wife have separate user accounts on the Mac, then each of you will have separate libraries to sync. You can them maintain separate address books, calendars, apps, etc.

Connect your device and open iTunes.
Click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.) If you don't see your device, choose Hide Sidebar from the View menu.
Next to the picture of your device, double-click the name of your device.
Type the new name for your device and press Return on the keyboard.
Sync the device (press Sync in the bottom right corner of the screen).

Why is Noise Reduction only available with some raw files

I have been going through my CRW, CR, and CR2 raw files and have noticed that some, when opened in ACR, do not allow me to adjust all the parameters in Noise Reduction. I thought it might be ISO related, but with a group of identically created raw files, some have full Noise Reduction adjustments while the next file will not. The only group that offers full adjustment with all files are the newer CR2 files captured with a 5D Mark II. Older 5D and 10D raw files are a hit and miss.
Am I missing something?

Another way is to just go into the Camera Calibration tab and select the 2010 process.
