I keep finding recovered files in my trash, either photos or documents
every time i quit photoshop, it goes 'it had quit unexpectedly' and has a little freeze action lol
is it cos of this
Does anyone else get it.

For some reason that I've never been able to determine (nor has anyone else in the occasional post I've seen on various forums) iWork doesn't seem to quite properly clean up the temporary files it creates when converting Microsoft Office Suite files in order to open them.
Therefore, if you have opened any MS Office files into Pages, Keynote or Numbers and then see a Recovered Files folder in the trash when you next start up, it's perfectly normal. If annoying.
Of course, I don't know if this applies to your situation; I can't tell by looking at the name if MSO8AAC925BF11 could have been generated by a Microsoft application...

Since upgrading to Leopard I have found that there is very often recovered files in the Trash.
Nothing has crashed, but I find a folder called 'Recovered Files' which contains Quark Xpress file, or other items. Just today, I found the PDF log (created by Quark), plus a duplicate of this file in the trash. Neither of which will delete.
Then I found that Quark was still open. Quitting allowed the files to delete, but they did not disappear from showing in the trash, they just weren't physically there.
Anyone help?

1. Open application Office error reporting, the application is located in this folder
/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0
2. Go in preferences
3. Uncheck enable office error reporting

If an application quits unexpectedly, the temporary files may not be deleted by the application. When you restart your computer, Mac OS X moves these temporary files to the Trash.
You can retrieve useful files by dragging them out of the Trash. In most cases, however, the temporary files are not important and it is safe to empty your Trash. Check with the manufacturer of the application if you are not sure.

Recovered files folder in Trash - Yosemite

After installing Yosemite on both my mid 2011 Mac Mini and my late 2013 MBP Retina 13 I have noticed that every time I start either computer there is a folder called "Recovered files" in the Trash with the file "MerpAD Database Daemon" inside the Recovered files folder. I delete it but with each restart it shows up again. Any ideas where these files are coming from. Thank you for your assistance.

This is an update to my original post. I found a fix for the Recovered Files folder showing up in Trash. It was from the Microsoft Community Forum and it worked on my system running Yosemite 10.10.2 and Office 2011 14.4.8
Open Finder > select the GO drop down > select Go To Folder > then type in this command exactly as is: /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0
and select GO.
This opens MERP2.0 > double click Microsoft Error Reporting > select Preferences from the drop down next to the Apple menu > Uncheck "Enable Office Error Reporting". Close all the dialog boxes and restart the computer. The consensus from those posting to the MS forum was that they had to restart twice and this was the case for me as well. The first restart still produced the Recovered Files folder in Trash. On the second restart the Trash was empty. Hope this helps.

Recovered Files reappearing in Trash

Hi,
I wanted to know how I can permenantly delete a 'Recovered Files' folder in trash. I 'Secure Empty Trash' everytime and then the folder and its contents disappear. But once I shut down and reboot, the 'Recovered Files' folder reappears in the Trash.
All files that are deleted never reappears, but that Recovered Files folder returns everytime.

Check the contents of the folder, and see if any files you desired to keep are there. If they are files that you don't know their origin, leave them there, as they may be temporary files for specific open applications.

Recovered file folder in trash

I have checked the forum and there are similar questions but... please help! still figuring out mac.
Situation: yes, I tried to load someone's copy of Adobe Photoshop which didn't work so I put the application in the trash.
Next, I bought a new Dreamweaver and installed it. All okay. (I suppose this is an Adobe question but when I open Dreamweaver, you get the welcome screen superimposed and see the actual desktop behind it. Don't know if this is normal.)
Now, I get this recovered file in the trash. If I remove it/empty trash, it reappears after starting up the computer. I dragged it to the desktop to open it...it opens with the Dreamweaver and looks blank. It says Zero KB size.
The file is: _xx41a7.TMP
How do I delete this or is this essential to Dreamweaver?
I intend to BUY the photoshop and want to be sure all is okay before installing it.

(also, on the disk of the second hand Photoshop, I later saw a note: to safely uninstall, double-click the product installer in applications/utilities/adobe installers and select to remove components plus you need to Deactivate the Photoshop by choosing help, deactivate. I thought you could just move the app to the trash).

I hope that your move over to the Mac has been as great as mine has. But, anyways lets get to the issues. I'm not sure about your superimposed question I've not opened Dreamweaver in a while, but if you mean its opening everything in little windows opposed to in Windows XP or Vista locking all windows into one then yes that is normal.
As for the recovered Files in the trash it is normal and is not. Applications use Temp. Files when they are in use and when the application is done running and is exiting its supposed to delete the files on there own. Sometimes they don't and when the computer restarts Mac moves the files to the trash. Its ok for you to empty them out. To Empty the trash either (ctrl) click the Trash select Empty Trash, go into the Trash Folder and hit empty in the top right, or click on your desktop notice that Finder is now the name of the application in the top left of the screen click finder and select empty trash.
In my opinion it sounds as if everything is fine, so you should be ready to get photoshop.
As for removing Program files from the mac. It is acceptable to drag the application to the Trash and remove it, It does indeed remove the program from said computer. However most applications have setting files that they make on launch in order to provide you with a much smoother experience. I've found that if there is a Uninstaller bundled with the software I would recommend using it to remove the program. And if not there are some handy little programs out there that make removing a Program and all its setting files a snap. Off the top of my head there is Appzapper, and AppDelete. I personaly use AppDelete because it was free, but AppZapper has a neat user interface.
Also in deactivating an adobe program, I know with my CS3 bundle I bought it only comes with one license. And in order to use the application bundled with it you have to activate with Adobes servers. that way they know only one is in use. In order for someone else to use that copy of Photoshop, if you indeed did activate it, you will need to deactivate as it says in the instructions.

Well although I didn't delete folder named Recovered files once in week that folder is in my trash. Is that normal process or something is wrong?

It is normal for system to send those recovered files to the trash.

You can't empty the Trash or move a file to the Trash
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on solving Trash issues. You can also try using Trash It! 5.1 to fix the problem. Or you can try this:
Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder and paste the following at the prompt:
sudo rm -Rf ~/.Trash/*
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not echo to the screen. Press RETURN again.

So I just got a new mac and I always backed up my old mac. I used the migration assistant to transferr all the stuff from my old mac to the new one. After it completed I tried to find all my pictures, music, and documents but couldn't. Where did all my stuff go and why can't I find it? Migration Assistant said everything transferred and went ok.

Peruse Pondini's Setup New Mac guide and seriously consider starting over. I'm a firm believer in only using the Setup Assistant and not creating a new account on first boot.

Yesterday I turned on my computer and found my system trash icon in the dock filled with trash (it was wierd because when I shut down my MacBook Pro the trash was empty). When I opened the trash I had a folder named as Recovered Files, I proceeded to open the folder and found that it was related to my Microsoft Messenger program that I used earlier in the day. I would like to ask why this happens? and if this issue (honestly I don't know if to call it an issue)is normal in Mac OS X

While you are correct about the items in Trash being useless and they are generally ignored by most backup applications when you do backups, they are still taking up your disk space. The disk space isn't returned to you until the Trash is emptied.

I'm accustomed to Mac OS X's practice of placing potentially important files in a "Recovered Files" folder in the Trash after a reboot if, say, an application crashes. But I'm getting annoyed by my computer's habit of placing a set of files in such a folder every single time it's shut down. The files all look like remnants of an Asian-language font set. I do not use any Asian-language input methods whatsoever, nor do I visit Asian-language websites with any regularity. But I can confirm that all three of these fonts:

... are present in ~/Library/Fonts. Does anyone else also have them, and if so do you know what program may have installed them? Is the hash symbol supposed to be present in the name? I'm tempted just to trash them, but I'd prefer not to if they're regularly used by websites, etc.

Since they aren't installed by OS X or MS Office, then they were installed by some third-party software you installed.
The files in the Trash are actually cache files generated by the ATS = means either Apple or Adobe Type System. Probably the former. Most likely these result from the nightly cleanup scripts tossing unneeded cache files from the Type System.
If you don't use these fonts then track them down and remove them. If they aren't in one of the three Fonts folders normally used, then they could be Adobe fonts stored elsewhere on your computer. Use a utility like Easy Find - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - to search for them.
