Why do I keep getting an unknown error when trying to download an app from the app store on my iPod touch 4th generation when I put in the correct password?

I keep getting the same unknown error has occurred when trying to download an app what is wrong?

as an example.. from the sprint forum for a different device (unsure what device.. it's just not an iphone since no iphone or ios device has these settings -- ive seen this advice several times and I believe it's some form of android.. but not sure)
advice from the carrier advisor --
"Clear data in the Dialer and Dialer storage.... under manage Applications> All.
That is Settings - Applications - Choose All to view All choices - then find Dialer and clear the Data. Repeat this for the Dialer Storage as well. I personally also deleted the message thread first from the text message window and my log history which is a menu item from your call screen."
and another for you from a customer -- it is sprint again.. but this time a Samsung Epic
"OMG ... if someone can't tell me how to fix this "9230: Message sent using invalid number of digits..." error, I'm going to scream.  My husband and I both have Sprint Epic phones and love them EXCEPT for this one problem! Help!"
Maybe they should sue Samsung?

  • Why do I keep getting an unknown error 4002.

Why do I keep getting an unknown error 4002. I seems to happen 5 or 6 times a day. iTunes seems to be working fine but it's kind of annoying. The window pops up and says "We could not complete your iTunes Store request." It tells me that there was an error in the iTunes Store and should try again later. I click OK but it just won't stop.

I already tried that.  First I get this:
Then when I click on Keep Contacts, I get this:
I don't want my calendars and reminders deleted from my iMac.  I would rather have them deleted from iCloud, since I never intended to use iCloud to begin with.  The fact that my calendars and reminders are available on other devices that use iCloud is no good to me because I have no other Apple devices.
You may not have 'intended' to use iCloud but you did. Backup your contacts and calendars, sign out and restore your data.
Now that you have published your email address in a public space you can expect the spammers to have it, I will ask for it to be removed but we're probably too late.

  • Why do I keep getting "an unknown error has occurred" when I try to update or add an app?  I have plenty of memory left.  Suggeestions?

Why do I keep getting this message "an unknown error has occurred" when I try to update or load an app.  The issue is not space (memory) as I have 2/3 memory left to use.  Any suggestions?

    Hi ...
Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) reinstalls the App Store for you which may help. Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.3.
If that doesn't help, if you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
If you have an app called LIttle Snitch installed, that can prevent apps from updating.

  • Why can't i download the iOS 6 on my iPod Touch 4th generation?

I've bought my ipod Touch on USA and brought it to Peru, the country where i live. So far i haven't had any problems with that except that some apps are unavailable here. But my big problem came when i wanted to download the new iOS.
    Settings->General->Upgrades->Download iOS 6
The process is ok while downloading, even the instalation is ok, but when it's about to finish it send me and error message with 2 options: Close/Setting. I've tried 4 times and got the same results.
If the problem is my location, please let me know ASAP.
    Thanks

First off, you don't have a 5th generation iPod Touch.  I'd bet you have a white 4th generation.
Any way, what is the exact error message you are getting?
Could it be a log in screen to http://www.apple.com ?
If it is, the problem is on Apple's end.

  • My iPod touch 4th generation is very hot at the top.... why

This is  when I use it for about 5 minutes, after using it for a bit of wifi browsing, playing withs apps (that do not use a lot of memory or are do not use CPU and GPU0 and using my iPod to listen to music. I don't use my iPod straight after charging so that is not the problem. I tell you that it is so hot that you could fry an egg on it, it is at the tope of the device you can feel the heat and you can feel it on the front and on the back. Please help! It is in very good condition because it has had a case on it ever since I got it, it is still in warranty. What should I do? How much will it cost? How long will take?

it is better that you get your iPod get checked by an Apple technician!!!
because i think this problem is serious. My iPod 4G doesnot get that hot after the extensive use u have mentioned!!!

  • After updating Firefox I keep getting a 3259 error message trying to download songs from I Tunes

After using Firefox for quite some time after one of the updates, I can no longer download songs from ITunes, it gives me an error message 3259. ITunes says it is coming from my software. Any suggestions?

Not there aren't any special settings for this. You just use the Open In feature to save the document into Pages. You could have a font in the document that Pages doesn't like, maybe something that you copied and pasted from somewhere into the document that went corrupt. But there is nothing special about the way that you save a Word document into Pages. You save it like you save any document or file into a compatible app.

  • Every time I try and use iTunes or the App Store on my iPad Mini, I keep getting the message "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". However, on my iPod Touch 4th Generation - signed into the same account - it works with no problems. Can anyone help? Thanks!

As I've already mentioned, I can't connect to iTunes or the App Store, the same message appears every time: "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store". I downloaded a few apps before I connected my iPad Mini to my Computer. I started doing an update that was about 9 or 10 hours long, somewhere around that time, and I unplugged it about halfway through the update and since then I've not been able to get onto iTunes or the App Store. I checked to see if I could continue the update but when I looked on iTunes again, no updates appeared. On my iPod Touch 4th Generation, everything works absolutely fine and it is logged into the same Apple ID. I've tried resetting my Network Settings, logging into someone else's Apple ID, connecting to a different Wifi, changing the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8, rebooting my Computer and iPad and changing the HTTP Proxy to Auto. Is there anything else I could try or am I just overlooking something? I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here, thanks!

Can you connect to a wifi source on the device? Enable wifi in settings on the device itself. If you don't have wifi at home, there may be a local hotspot you can use for this.
The reason this happens is carriers don't want people downloading huge files that would slow their network as well as eat up your data plan.

  • Trying to download Maverick, and keep getting "an unknown error has occurred'

Trying to install maverick, keep getting 'an unknown error has occured' message when I try to login to my apple account

Just saw the post from makras.
There are always a few problems with a new OS. Apple can't police every maker of crapware that's on the planet.
If you have a WD external drive, I would transfer (not clone) the files from it to another non-WD external drive that doesn't have crapware on it, and then erase the WD drive, and then never ever again buy a WD drive.
You will find many posts on the Apple Discussions from disgruntled narcissists (a few borderlines too) who blame Mavericks for their computer problems.
Mavericks is excellent (at least for me).
Every new OS has some incompatibilities with older software. That's why if someone is an early adopter, they should understand this, and if they have a low tolerance for frustration, or are uncomfortable with basic mac maintenance and troubleshooting, they should not be an early adopter.
Seems like the vast majority of problems that people complain about on the forums are related to crapware they have acquired on their computers from previous installations and promiscuous downloading habits.

I keep getting an "unknown error" when I am trying to install an app. After I have put my correct apple ID in.

First, turn off your CAPS lock.  Typing in all CAPS is considered screaming/yelling and many will simply ignore your posting.
Are you currently having issues?  Is it when trying to purchase only on the device?  Are you able to complete purchases via iTunes on your computer?

  • I keep getting an unknown error when trying to connect to the store. I ran diagnostics and it says secure link to itunes store failed.

I keep getting an unknown error when trying to connect to the store. I ran diagnostics and it says secure link to itunes store failed. I've tried all suggestions from apple and nothing will work.
    Please Help

I received this email from Apple and this corrected the problem for me...  I only had to reset the iTunes cache
    1) Open iTunes
    2) At the top menu, click File > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac)
    3) In the Preferences menu, click the Advanced tab
    4) In the Advanced menu, you should see a button that says "Reset Cache". Please click this button.
