Why do I loose my tabs when I start up firefox

Sometimes when I accidentally close the Firefox window and I re-open the window again I loose all of my app tabs that I have set up on my tool bar. Why does this happen? I have many app tabs and it takes a while to reset them. Is there also a way that I do not have to reset all my app tabs again?

Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

* [2] http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
* [3] http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox
It is also possible to use the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting, that is usually a more reliable way to restore session data.
* [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox/Tools > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then make sure that Session is unchecked in the settings for the Firefox application.

  • Why does my screen flash green when I start up Firefox? (WinXP, FF7)

When I open a new instance of Firefox 7 (my machine is running Windows XP), before loading my homepage (Google for Firefox), the entire working area of the window (minus the blue windows bar across the top) flashes a bright miami green for just under a second.
    Is this normal?

My Mac Unibody 2009 does this too. I am out of warranty. Any ideas on what is causing this? Any help appreciated!
Red flickering goes from a very pale to a pretty bright opacity and at first was intermittent, now all the time and especially noticeable where white or a very pale color is the predominant background color.
I would like to know if it could be repaired or if the repair cost is going to be so high that I would be better off buying a newer model.
    Thanks
    Helen

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

  • I copied this from your 5.0 download information: "All of the App Tabs you have set when you close Firefox will open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again." When I opened my computer today all my apptabs from yesterday had disappeared. Why?

Your download page for 5.0 stated: All of the App Tabs you have set when you close Firefox will open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again.
I liked the convenience of using App Tabs and was disappointed to find that the ones I had set up yesterday were gone today. Am I doing something wrong?

Works fine for me, I can simulate your problem by improperly closing Firefox.
The correct way would be to close the windows you don't want and then to exit Firefox through the File ("'''Alt+F'''") menu then use '''Exit''' or '''Qui'''t depending on your system.
But '''I can simulate your problem''' by closing the good window with "X" in the upper right-corner first (the one with the app-tabs) and then close the other window by any means.
You restart Firefox and open a window, since you closed without app-tabs there are none so you just see a window with your home page.
Firefox has some things added to Firefox 4 and therefore in Firefox 5.
    # "'''Alt+S'''" (Hi'''s'''tory menu)
    # "'''Restore Previous Session'''" (that's the window without the app-tabs, but you have to this first)
    # "'''Restore Recently Closed Windows'''" -- can choose which window to reopen based on name and the mouse-over tells how many tabs. or you just use "'''Restore All Windows'''" without the guessing.
''I know you are on a Mac, and this affects Windows user more than anybody else, but it does affect other systems besides Windows, occasionally, perhaps more often now with the plugins container.''
The following may not completely eliminate having to terminate Firefox through the Windows Control Panel but it will come very close.
'''Plug-in and tasks started by Firefox may continue after attempting
to close Firefox''' The "X" in the upper right-hand corner closes the
Window (same as Ctrl+Shift+W) but even if it is the last Firefox window,
it does not necessarily close Firefox .
The only '''proper way to exit Firefox''' is to use '''Exit''' through the
File menu, not the "X" in the upper right corner of last Firefox window.
In the Firefox 4 and 5 that would be Alt+F then X

Use the '''Windows Task Manger''' to remove all running firefox.exe in the "'''Processes'''" tab of the Windows Task Manager, then restart Firefox.
If Firefox will still not start, remove the parent.lock file from the profile which is created each time Firefox is started to prevent other Firefox tasks from running, see<br>

Why did my phone shut down when I started updating software?

    Hi Patraposo,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It is difficult to know why devices behave unexpectedly; however there are several articles on the Support site that can help recover your iPhone if the update did not complete.
If your iPhone will not turn on, start with the steps in the "Power/Battery" section of this article:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting

If you just see the "connect to iTunes" screen, the steps in this article can help:

When I start mozilla firefox web browser, sometimes I see a message saying that "a Mozilla Firefox is already running, please close it or restart your system". As a matter of fact, there is no firefox browser running at that time. Since I cannot do anything about it, I have to restart my computer before I can use the web browser, which bothers me dearly. What is the problem?

Why do I loose some of my iphoto editing when I export the photo or send it out to Facebook or email?

No information given so we can only guess
You are doing it incorrectly - to properly export select the photo(s) an use the file menu ==> export to a deaktop folder  --  to e-mail either set up the desired e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences and share via e-mail, export as above, use Apple Mail and use the media browser or in teh e-mail attach window lok in the lower left hand corner under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto and select teh photo

  • Why can't I save my tabs when I exit the Firefox browser?

That is to say, where is the option that was available in the previous version of firefox?
I ''don't'' care for the option "open browsers from last time" since I may not want to save my tabs each and every time, not to mention the fact that it's goddamn cumbersome to keep going to the options menu just to switch between "show my homepage" and "show my tabs" every time I use firefox. I mean honestly.
And don't even '''mention '''the "restore previous session" option. I can't help but feel like what I'm asking is that difficult to implement. Why was it removed in the first place? It was a very important feature for me, when Firefox would ask: "Do you want firefox to save your tabs for next time" when I'd close the window, and there was an option to stop firefox from asking for those who so wish.
Please bring back that feature, it suits my needs perfectly. I hope people remember what I'm referring to. I hope "about:config" has an option to bring this back...

You can have things the old way, and even if you don't choose to restore your tabs the next time Firefox starts you can still restore your through your history as John99 mentioned, should you change your mind after restarting Firefox.
See item #31 in the following
'''Restoring tabs from a lost session''' is now done after restarting through the '''History menu''' ("Alt+S") with "'''Restore previous session'''".
'''You can still have the old messages''', to make sure you get your tabs restored immediately, but with or without the messages and whichever way you respond to the message you can still get back your previous session through the History menu.

  • All of the App Tabs I have set when I quite Firefox did not open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again, why?

All the App Tabs disappeared when I opened Firefox after quitting. I understand that the App Tabs that I had set remains there if I close the browser and not quit. So does that mean that I have to create App Tabs every time I restart FireFox?

App tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Browsing History" if Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.
If you use CCleaner then make sure that Session is unchecked in the settings for the Firefox application.

  • Firefox no longer automatically opens app tabs when I start it, how do I fix this?

Previously when I had an app tab open and closed firefox it would be opened with my home page next time, I just activated firefox sync and this no longer happens.

A good reason to not count on app-tabs as always being restored. Put your app-tabs into a bookmark folder so you can open them into tabs when you need to recreate them.
See if you can get your app-tabs back via History > Restore Previous Session, then after that
History > Restore previous Windows and then maybe restore previous tabs.
I don't use sync and have no idea if it is involved in your problem. I do periodically close all of my tabs, close and restart Firefox, and then reconstruct my app-tabs by opening a folder into tabs. I had to number the titles in the folder so that the tabs would be in the order that I want them to be in as I do use the "Sort Places" extension to sort my bookmarks into alphabetical order.

  • How do I set Firefox to see only my pinned tabs when it starts?

I would like to see no classic tab (no home page, no empty tab), just my pinned tabs, when Firefox starts. How can I do that?

I don't think that you can do that. Firefox always opens a new tab with either the Home page or a blank tab if all other tabs are closed. There needs to be at least one normal tab, but an App tab can be selected if you close Firefox with one of them selected.
