Why do I need to install Lion again?

This is an odd one.. I have tried to search the support communities to see if anyone else is having the same problem but cant find it so this could be an isolated case... Anyway....
I have just updated my Lion OSX to the latest version 10.7.3 through the Mac app store - while it was downloading and to kill a bit of time while it was downloading  I clicked onto the 'Purchased' tab to have a browse at my previous purchases and noticed that it was asking me to download the full version of Lion again!!.. The 4GB version... Has anyone else noticed this in their purchase tab? - I have checked the other Macs I have in case it was just the machine I was working on but all of them are saying the something. Appreciate your comments back before I download it again... Maybe its just a glitch in the app store but wanted to check if anyone else has had the same message. Thanks.

UPDATE... Gone onto the mac store today and now in the purchase tab Lion has been removed so looks like I have not even purchased it... I did a search for it in the store and instead of saying "Installed" - its giving me the selling price... Just like it does when you first purchase the software!!
What's going on?... HELP!!!

  • I just bought Lion from the app store and I was wondering how long it will be there for because you can't buy a hard copy of it and I was told they were fazing it out so if my computer crashes and I need to install it again will it still be there??

FWIW, your profile shows that you are already on Lion - did you buy Mountain Lion?
If you purchase an OS from the Mac App Store, it will be listed under your Purchases and will be available to download again if you need it. Note: the license is only for you and is not transferable; if you sell your Mac, you must uninstall it and reinstall the original system.
If you did buy Lion - out of curiosity - since it is no longer showing in the app store, how did you buy it there? Or did you call Apple and they sent you a redemption code?

  • I erased my mac os x hard drive and tried installed lion again without knowing that I have to use my apple account, and I have forgotten my details for it.

So I held down option and the power button and erased my hard drive to set it back to factory settings for school and I did not know that I needed my apple details to install lion again, and I dont know the username and password for it because I never really used the apple app. I created another apple account but it says I cannot use that account on it.. Please help, what can I do?

    Command R (no option)
From what I learned from testing with a number of people, you do need to invoke IR in certain circumstances.
Command + R will reinstall the currently installed OS version. Apple ID verification is needed.
Command + Option + R will reinstall the originally installed OS version IF that was Lion or ML and the drive is erased first. (This is the option that needs to be used by sellers needing to wipe the drive and reinstall the original OS version before selling the machine; it will also work with a newly installed HD or other problems requiring a fresh install). Apple ID verification is not needed.
IR would appear to be helpful here since the OP is unable to use his Apple ID?

  • Why does m4v need to be converted again

Hi. I converted a dvd movie I bought into the ipod format .m4v using another converting software program I have. I then imported it into the videos section of my itunes. It would not load into my ipod unless i convertd it again using the itunes conver for ipod option. Why does this need to be converted again for ipod if its already in a .m4v and is there any way i can fix this so when im originally converting my movie with my converting software I can eliminate this last step in itunes. It takes up to 5 hours to convert in itunes. thanks

I should also add that I am using a AVS video converter which has an IPod 5.5 converting option that makes my movies Highest available quality H.264, 30fps 640x480
There are more Ipod options availble but im using the Highest quality available one. Maybe I should be using one of these:
    ipod 5x- NTFS Standard quality H.264 29.97fps, 320X240
    ipod 5x- PAL standard quality H.264 24fps, 320X240
    ipod 5x- low quality H264., 20fps, 320X240
    ipod 5x - Best quality (MPEG4, 24fps, 320X240)
    ipod 5x- economy quality (MPEG4, 20fps, 176X144)
    ipod 5x- for tv output (MPEG4, 24fps, 512X384)

  • I had purchased Photoshop Cs5 extended when i had a windows comp now i bought a mac i need to install it again how can i do that

i had purchased Photoshop Cs5 extended when i had a windows comp now i bought a mac i need to install it again how can i do that

You would have to purchase a Mac version of CS5. You cannot install a Windows version on a Mac. CS5 is not a current product so you can't get a free platform swap.
Speak to Customer Service and see if it is possible to upgrade to CS6 ($200), and get what is know as a platform swap to Mac.

  • My OS X 10.9 corrupted and i cleaned everything and installed ubuntu linux. I need clean install OSX again and i cant able to reach OS utility now. Please advise

My OS X 10.9 corrupted and i cleaned everything and installed ubuntu linux. I need clean install OSX again and i cant able to reach OS utility now. Please advise

You cannot use a Windows machine.
No idea if this will work because you have/had Ubuntu installed - hit Command + Option + R keys while restarting/booting up. Once in the Utilities, make sure the drive is formatted correctly and erase it, then reinstall the OS.

  • Why handling units need to be packed again?

    Hello Guru's,
I am finding this very strange, my scenarios is we have HU's received in QI stock. Now we are removing some goods for sampling via MIGO >>GI>>MT 331.
When delivery and later TO is created, the system asks for confirming TO, the TO created NEEDS TO BE PACKED AGAIN (LT12 PACK function) without which the system doesn't allow confirming TO.
My question is when SAMPLING why does the system require goods to be packed again? In my opinion system should accept the same HU number which is being picked for sampling.  Am I missing something?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Jack.

    Hi,
Check your Delivery Item Category and see if it is relevant for packing.
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks

I have a Mac 27' and its great! I love it lol but I have a little problem. I've installed Microsoft office 365 on my computer and my brother made another account for the house to keep separate from his account. When I go to the house account I have to "re-install' Office even though i have already installed it the first time.. I'm just wondering why i have to installed it again after i have already installed it the first time.

Ask Microsoft. Their requirement, not Apple's.

  • Purchased another Ipod do I need to install software again?

I just purchased a new Ipod shuffle for my son - I have a mini - do I really need to install the software and I tunes again before plugging in the shuffle?

Your Shuffle should work just fine, there's no need to reinstall iTunes. Just check you have the latest version of the updater which you can get here: http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

  • Why is it that after installing Lion, touchpad will not scroll

I installed Lion yesterday with no apparent problem.  The only thing unexpected is that the scroll function does not work on the touchpad.  The outer functions seem to be fine.  The mouse scrolls with no problem.  I have restarted a couple times with no result.  I am trying to adjust to using the pad but have to go to the mouse everytime I need to scroll up or down.  How can this be corrected?

Check to see if Scrolling is turned on under universal access in system prefs. System Preferences>Universal Access. Click on trackpad options and turn on scrolling with or without inertia.

  • 'favorites bar' was deleated, I need to install it again

My Favorites bar was deleated and I can't find the way to install it again...please help me...

According to your system information here, you are using Microsoft's [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer Internet Explorer] to browse the web. If this is correct, you might want to try the Microsoft Internet Explorer '''[http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/help help pages]'''.
If you are using [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox Firefox] to browse the web, maybe your problem is caused by an add-on that was disabled, or an option that was accidentally changed. For more help with Firefox, try:

  • Why do callers need to install "whistle"?

I cannot reproduce this myself.  But I have an online number from Skype, and I've verified that it works at least from my land line: when I run Skype on my Android phone, and dial my online number from my land line, I hear a ringing sound from the land line (just as if I'd called any other number), and my Android phone vibrates and displays a Skype screen that tells me that there's an incoming call.  This is all exactly what I'd expect.
However, the one other person who has ever tried to call my Skype number says that he doesn't hear a ringing sound, but instead gets a recorded voice telling him that he needs to install something called "Whistle" on his computer.  This makes no sense to me, as his phone isn't connected to his computer in any way that I know of.
    Can anyone explain this?

Which version of Java do you already have installed?
    Java 1.6.0_12 or higher?

  • Need to install Lion (already purchased) on my macbook

I purchased the download version of Lion and installed on my imac. I would like to install this on my macbook also. I wanted to make a bootable disc but I can't find a Lion folder on my imac anywhere. I thought it would be in my apps and I would right click and burn to disc. Can anyone help me with this? When I sign into the app store and look up Lion OS it says download under it - not install like I would expect it to.

Your first need to download the Lion installer again in the App Store. When it finally finishes, it will end up in the Applications folder and automatically want to install. Press Command+Q to stop the install and exit. The installer will remain on the hard drive.
    1) Right click on the installer and choose "Show Package Contents".
    2) A folder will open on the desktop. Drill down to Contents > SharedSupport and double click the disk image InstallESD.dmg to mount it on the desktop.
    3) From here you can either burn a DVD, or copy the contents to a flash drive. Personally, I would strongly suggest using an 8 GB flash drive formatted as Mac OS Extended. You will be able to boot to it in about 10 seconds instead of at least 15 minutes off of a DVD, and it will install MUCH faster. Make sure the flash drive is empty, or you've copied anything off it it you need as it will need to be erased.
    4) Don't just drag and drop the contents you see in the open disk image to the flash drive. It won't boot that way as it will be missing some hidden files. Open Disk Utility. You will something similar to this:
    5) To accomplish the above, highlight either the flash drive's single partition (as I did), or the item at the bottom (Mac OS X Install ESD), which is what you will see with the Lion disk image mounted. It doesn't matter which one you pick. You'll then have the option to select the Restore tab towards the upper right. Drag and drop from the left column into the Source and Destination fields as shown above. If you've already erased the flash drive, you can uncheck the box. Click the Restore button.
    6) You've just made your own bootable Lion USB Flash drive installer.
