Why do I stil get a prompt to set up iPhone when I plug it in to the computer?
I restored my phone from backup when I first purchased it last year. Yet, everytime I plug it into my computer it prompts me to set it up as new or restore it from previous backsups. I have accumulated additional phone numbers and pictures so I don't want to do anything that takes those things away. What should I do to fix the situation?

Why do I have to download songs/albums onto my iphone when I have icloud and purchased the songs from itunes? I thought the purpose of purchasing from itunes when you have icloud is that you don't have to download each song/album that you want to hear. I get like 5-10 songs from the last two albums i have downloaded, but not the entire album.
Are you talking about iTunes Match? If so, you don't have to download entire albums, all you have to do is play the songs you want to hear.
If you're asking why you have to download the music at all rather than just playing it from iCloud, the music has to be stored locally on your device, either in permanent or cache memory, in order for your device to play it. -
I downloaded the new version of itunes and when i plug my phone into the computer and try and do something in itunes it wont let me because my device is synced to another itunes library. how do i get my old itunes back? or how can i sync my stuff into the new itunes with out deleting anything off my phone? HELP
Copy the iTunes folder from the old computer to your new one.

Is the iPod still singed into the account isn Settings>iTunes and App Stores and SettingsZ>iCloudl? If it is then I would not be concerned.

For the other "problem", go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says Prevent iPod....automatically syncing. -

I've seen this happen when the phone was encrypted... Other than calling apple/deleting passcodes I don't know of any solution.
If you're keen on waiting, upload your photos to dropbox, that's the way I do it. -

Hi, I had the same problem. I finally figured it out. Plug in the USB cord to your ipad, but beofre plugging it into your computer make sure your ipad is not in the locked or sleep mode. Once I did this, my photos showed up and started downloading. Hope that helps you!

How can I get my music files back when they are no longer on the computer?
So the problem I am having is that I cannot play songs on the playlist because "the file cannot be located" error. I checked the iTunes media folder and they weren't there. I searched my whole computer and they still could not be found.
The story behind the problem is that I pretty sure all the songs I am having troubles with were ones I purchased on my iPod Touch itself. Several months ago when I plugged my iPod into the computer so it could sync ( my iPod is old and can't connect to the WiFi anymore forcing me to buy songs on my computer again.) The songs purchased on my iPod showed up on my playlist on my computer but they had the "!" next to them and they were no longer on my iPod and when I tried to get them back on I got the "cannot be located" error. I then checked the iTunes music folder again and the only songs there were songs I purchased on my computer.
I am extremely frustrated. When I go to the iTunes store under "Purchases" they all show up however there is no way for me to download them again onto my computer because the "download" button cannot be clicked on because I am assuming it thinks the songs are already on the computer, but I know they aren't. I tried organizing my songs option and that didn't do anything.
Is there any way to download them again? Or at least tell the iTunes store that they aren't located on my computer anymore so I can download them again?
If I lost hundreds of dollars of music because the iTunes software is a piece a ****...You might want to post this question to the iTunes Windows forum rather than the iPod forum - try iTunes for Windows
Just a note of encouragement - I doubt very much you've lost your music - they remember what you've purchased forever and as long as the content is still on the iTunes store you should never loose anything (however sometimes content is removed from the store for various reasons and in that cause if you don't have a local copy on your iTunes library it is not recoverable - but that issue is relatively infrequent) - it's just a question of why iTunes won't let you download it again. good luck... -
when i plug my phone into the usb port with the apple charger that came with my phone i get an error msg say charging not supported by this device. But when i use a gigaware (radioshack brand) usb charger, no error msg. Why?
- Try restoring the iPod, first from backup and then try to factory settings/new iPod to rule out a software problem.
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and broken or cracked plastic.
- Could you have damaged something when you took the iPod apart and replaced the Home button? -
Since installing Yosemite I keep getting a prompt to install Java even when I am not surfing the net. Went system preferences and I have recommended version installed. I want to know how to stop the prompts. I do not have this problem on my iMac.
Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.
