Why do I still have so many popups?

I have the pop up setting to block pop ups, but I still have so many popups. Is there a way to stop popups?

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Please always post your system when you have a query: the answer to many questions is different depending on system, and this is one of those questions.
Let me guess: you have Snow Leopard or Leopard (or even Tiger) and when you migrated from MobileMe and were warned that you needed Lion you ignored it.
You cannot sync contacts to iCloud on anything earlier than Lion. When you migrated your contacts were removed from MobileMe but because you don't have Lion the process could not place them on the iCloud server.
There is no workaround for this other than downgrading from Lion - not a process you want to undertake lightly. If you have an iPhone you can sync your contacts using iTunes.
If my guess is wrong, and you do have Lion, that's a whole different can of digital worms.

now that we have the new checkmarks instead of the stars, why do I still have a starred playlist? I cant get rid of it... I just "saved" all of my starred playlists, and now I've essentially got a "legacy" starred playlist and a "new" starred playlist (which is the new checkmark system) please get rid of legacy features, it only complicates software.

When you click the plus sign, you are adding a song to Your Music.
When you add a song to Starred, you add the song to the playlist.
It's similar to liking a video on YouTube.

Suppose you are working collaboratively with someone that only has Logic 8. If they send you a Logic 8 file to work on and you open it in Logic 9 and save your version and send it back, they won't be able to open the file you sent. If you still have the option of working in Logic 8 that would solve that problem.
This has been the standard for a while now so that it's not so odd that it would leave the older version on your system. When you installed the upgrade from Logic 8, Logic 7 was left on your system.

Why do we still have no pro-grade email app for the mac platform?

This is a combination of a question and a rant, I suppose. When I first came to the Mac platform back in 2003, I looked to see what the best email clients were and was surprised to find nothing that I thought was really strong. I started with Mail, hated it, switched to Entourage, and then since that time I've used or demoed about everything I can find. Powermail, Eudora, Mailsmith in years past, and more recently Postbox and Sparrow. I find all of them sorely lacking and it just keeps begging the question in my mind: why hasn't anyone yet created a truly professional-grade email application? I honestly think there's a huge market for it, and I think a lot of people would be willing to spend $30-50 for an app that got it right.
Right now, I use Mail with the add-ons MailTags and Mail Act-On, and I've got my workflows and practices down to a pretty tight level. I am an adherent of inbox zero concepts/GTD and I practice them. Like many of you I get a lot of email, probably 200-300 per day. There is no application I use on my computer more intensively than email, and yet it's the one app that is probably the most lacking from a development standpoint.
here are some of the things I'd love to see:
- support for IMAP, POP3 and Exchange
- an attractive, Mac-like user interface. Could Mail get any uglier? Why yes, yes it could, we now have Mail in Lion! Holy crap, were they incentivized to make it as dull and unattractive an app as they possibly could? If so, that team must be getting huge bonuses this christmastime.
- industry compliant tagging
- robust search functionality. Let me do quick spotlight-based searches, or give me a search dialogue box where I can construct more complex queries.
- robust smart folder functionality. Mail does ok here, but it could be a lot better.
- global rules (which Mail has but an app like Postbox doesn't), and then the ability to either have the rules applied automatically to all messages, or to fire a rule "on-demand" with respect to a single selected email (in other words, build in Mail Act-On functionality)
- integration with social media. Postbox does a nice job with this. Hit their info pane button and you see a nice summary of all the links and possible social media interactions available via that selected email
- integration with cloud-based file storage, and apps like Evernote, DevonThink, Omnifocus, etc
- an intuitive, flexible layout that allows me to see my accounts and folder structures the way I want to see them, not the way the app forces me to lay them out. Mail does a much better job of this than Postbox, for example.
- integration with industry-standard archival practices. For example, integrate with MailSteward.
Mail is honestly not that far away, but they've been "not that far away" for the last 8 years I've been using a Mac. I keep thinking SOMEBODY has to get this right and step up to fill this need, and nobody does. What I'd really love to see is the OmniGroup (the guys that make fine apps like Omnifocus, Omnigraffle, Omnioutliner, etc...) step up and make "OmniMail". Give me an interface and a user experience I look forward to using, not one I use in spite of the interface. Give me a simple, efficient structure with depth and power under the hood that I can customize and tailor to my workflows.
if any developers read this, I am begging you: create this product. I've read every email app review I can find, visited a ton of blogs, user forums, etc..., and I think there is a huge demand for this kind of an app. If I did such coding, I would take the project on myself, but I'm just a user, not a developer.

I agree completely; email applications on the Mac lag (and I agree with the OP's frustration with responses as well).
I also have settled on Mail with Mail ActOn and MailTags; this functionality should be incorporated into the OS. I actually like using Outlook in Win 7 better; it's super easy to connect files, contacts, email and other stuff right from one application. And Win 7 has better preview and tagging built in, better than QuickLook. On the server side we desparately need gmail to use tags, but I don't see that happening. I still prefer the labeling scheme it has over Apple's mail, however. But I also find that it confuses many users (labels vs folders).
There are also other applications that integrate email functionality, like SOHO Organizer, or Contactizer. Good, but not the email holy grail.
I'd like to see communications built into the Finder or system, which badly needs an overhaul. It hasn't changed much since the 90's and shows it. Communication, whether it be email, tweets, social media posts, sharing, etc, is such an integral function of all work you do on a computer it should be better, um, integrated into all applications. You should be able to send data from any application to others in a variety of formats without having to go into an email application. Sure, you can now do this to a certain extent with either built-in menu items or services, but it's clunky. For example, when you write something you can either "save" and write to disk somewhere, or "export" in a different format, or maybe "email." All of those choices should at least be part of one dialog; it's just as likely you want to email, post, share or tweet what you just wrote, so just having a "save" dialog is way outmoded.
So, yeah, somebody get on this.

Why do we still have an "unsorted bookmarks" folder?

I don't understand why Firefox still has bookmarks going into this unnecessary folder by default. Aren't there complaints about this all the time?

If "some" users are complaining about it why don't you just make it optional? From what I've read here there are many others who have been trying to get rid of it.
This has to be one of the the most unnecessary features you can add. I shudder to think one day firefox will introduce an "unsorted tabs" folder to make something simple more complicated.

I downloaded a toolbar expecting certain help, not seeing the help I wanted I uninstalled the prouduct, why would I still have the toolbar ready and waiting for me to use after i have uninstalled it

I have just sent mail to a friend and found that the HTML backgrooung file is inactive amongst mant others, am sure I used it just yesterday.
I tried to regain this file and I was directed to download the toolbar from BrotherSoft Extreme Community and did not see any direction to what I was loking for other than it piling my already weak XP PC with more toolbars, so I immeadiatly uninstalled it.
It's still here, so does this mean it has other guises for me to find.
Please help me with this.

It's rude, obviously I know now not to do something like download something like that to my computer. It's not the difficult to figure out, and obviously I'm suffering the consequences for it now. So are you planning on helping me? Or should I not reply to your next reply if it has the word "crap" in it? Why does my Mac have so many updates?

My Mac constantly needs updating. It reminds me like everyday that it needs an update and then I'll update it and then a few days later it needs another update! This is really frustrating because my internet is too slow to update it all the time. Why does it do this?

If the update hasn't been applied, it will probably remind you until it's been applied. It will probably remind you at least as often as it is set to. You can use the Software Update system preference to turn off automatic updating.
Why would the system nag you often about an update? Because updates contain bug fixes, and it's good to have the latest fixes. On top of that, software updates contain security fixes, and Apple is very interested in making sure all users have the latest patches for any security holes that have been discovered since the last update. Because as you know, malware and security problems can cause you major problems if they are not blocked by the system. And as far as Apple is concerned they do not want any security problems to end up in the news if thousands of users were to be affected. So they issue fixes as soon as they can.

why does it show that i have 5.0gb left on my icloud storage when i have already backed up?shouldnt there be some storage used if i backed up?

I understand that the ios takes up some and leaves you with 6.5 gb available but the thing I was having a trouble is that a bug or something was on the ipod and I hadn't download anything at all and it said I only had 2GB available! I did a restore and now everything is okay and normal but I definitely had some kind of bug because there was no data on there and it said I only had 2GB available which was really strange. Why do I still have TWO icons in my menubar?

I guess I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that Adobe would bring out a replacement Creative Cloud application installer without fully testing the uninstallation process for the old installer.
And no, I am not going to go through all of these frickin' steps that only an engineer could dream up in order to uninstall the old one.
What's even more annoying is that this morning, not only was I greeted by the old Adobe Application Manager icon in my menubar, I have already selected "Open Updater." And of course there is nothing to update since the NEW CC updater took care of that yesterday. But the old icon is still up in my menubar ... and it still has the number 1 next to it.
Please. Is there a simpler way I don't know about?

I got my ipad stolen and I locked it and bought a new one. When I am offline and someone tries to call me or message me it goes to my stolen ipad how can this be if it has been locked? Why do they still have access to my contacts/facetime/messages?

I got my Ipad stolen one month ago and bought a new. I locked the stolen one but now everytime someone calls me and my new ipad is offline the calls or messages will go to the stolen one. It is kind of creepy to know that my thiefs can read everything and send messages on my behalf to my contacts.....I have done the find my iphone application and it says that the ipad has not been used however I have family tell me that people that are not me answer the calls... I have also seen messages in my new ipad that I did not write.

That message is usually due to a bad cable.

Why do I still have a macuser account after renaming it?

I'm a PC user helping my mom set up an iMac refurb ruining 10.6.3.
I wanted to change the default user account to the same name on her old iMac. I changed Macuser to Willard in Accounts, changed the password and logged out & back in again as Willard. The home folder on her old iMac was named Willard so I wanted it to be the same here but the new home folder was still named Macuser.
I followed the directions on the Apple Support page for enabling & logging in as Root and renamed the home folder to Willard. But when I logged back in as Willard there were now three folders in Users: Shared, Willard & Macuser! The Macuser folder had the house icon as if it was the home folder but any files created on the desktop appeared in the Desktop folder under Willard.
In addition to this there is this padlock that has to be unlocked at every step in System Preferences. When I click on that the username for authentication is Macuser! The password for Willard still works however. So now I'm not sure what the actual name of the account is though I think it is Willard.
I'd also like to know if there's a way to turn off this excessive authentication. This is my mom's computer, not NORAD.

With the lastest updates to foxfire, so It does not run slow or crash, why do I still have foxfire run from normal to slow, then freeze up and have either to reboot or click Ctrl w and to clear everything and re click foxfire to reload.

Foxfire browser runs normal for a couple of days, then starts freezing up, where I cannot scroll with mouse or click in especially on facebook and fabulis.com. I have to either Reboot somputer or push ctrlw to clear the screen to desktop, then refresh desktop page and then click firefox icon to get back to where I was and continue on.

It starts getting slow when it starts redirecting my web sites
