Why do iPhoto slideshows have such low resolution?

I have used iPhoto to make slideshows. When you preview the slideshow the resolution is great, but when you actually create the slideshow the images are really low res. Why? iDvd does the same thing, what is up? Does version 6 have better res on slideshows? And I've tried using the Ken Burns effect and it works fine if you select it in the settings menu, but when you don't select it and just select on specific photos, why won't the effect work?

Download the latest itunes from the apple website and install to your computer. Then once done, connect your phone to your computer via your usb cord and itunes should open up and recognise it. If not open the itunes program and you'll see on the left hand side of the screen it will have a "DEVICE"  option and your iphone should show. From here select your phone and it should bring it up showing your name, phone serial etc and then will show if there are any available updates. You may be prompt to login to your apple id account and register your phone with your account.
From there just select the downlaod software icon (if any available)

  • Why does color not have a 1440x1080 Resolution preset?

    1. Why does color not have a 1440x1080 Resolution preset? Im using ProRes HQ in FCP and clips at 1440x1080. But when they come out of Color they are 1920x1080? I notice from color there is no 1440x1080 Res preset so strange?
    2. In addition ive also noticed that I dont have the choice of 'Original Codec' in the render codec settings. Only ProRes, ProRes HQ, Uncompressed 8bit and 10bit. SO i use the higher quality 10bit.

Ok, I class myself as a patient person and not one to fly off the handle. However, Color is testing me to the limits. I cannot work out for the life of me how this application is trying to handle my footage.
I sending 1440x1080 thats been encoded 1440x1080 50i. This footage is ending up in the Color pref settings or as 1920x1080!! Secondly when I send this back to FCP obviously my Sequence will have changed to match 1920x1080.. thus up scaling the whole project! Then if that weren't enough, taking a look at the data-rates in the clip settings of the Color Sequence they read in excess of 131.5 mb/s My HDD give up immediately! (Is one supposed to render the timeline first once this footage is back from color? - i dont just mean because of the transitions etc)
Now.. to yet further confuse the issue I then do a Render ALL in FCP and the Color Sequence plays back fine though still with the wrong Resolution of 1920x1080?
to be frank, i just dont know where to start with this.. it seems 1 step forward 3 steps back each time. I can appreciate Im new to this but I thought I knew enough not to encounter such petty problems as just setting Color up for import/export. Im going to say it... Is this a Color problem or what? I dont think there are many of you using PAL with HDV into ProRes HQ or ProRes so I guess its going to have to be a £200 call to Apple? .. Which I probably wont do..
    Here's hoping.

  • My address book and iPhone pics have become low resolution.  Is there a way I can prevent this from happening when I start out with a higher resolution picture?

I guess I squeezed my entire issue into the subject line.  lol   When I sync my iphone to my laptop I notice that all my address book pics and iphone pics have become lower resolution, even though I started out with the resolution that I really needed to produce decenty address book printouts.  I doubt I can correct the losses of resolution that have occurred but can anyone help me figure out how to prevent future losses?  Thank you!

Plugins usually are installed externally to Firefox. However, you can disable them in Firefox so that Firefox does not use them.
SearchReset is supposed to automate the task of resetting certain preferences, but you still can edit them manually if necessary.
    '''''Address Bar Search'''''
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''keyword''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Right-click '''keyword.URL''' and choose Reset. This should restore Google as the default for address bar search.
    Does that work?
    '''''Search Box'''''
Usually it works to choose your preferred search engine from the drop-down. To remove an unwanted search engine plugin, usually the Manage Search Engines... choice at the bottom of the drop-down takes care of it.
    Do either of those work?
There might be another way to hijack that search box; I think some of the other frequent responders probably are more familiar with it than I am.

  • The problem that app icons have a low resolution in Launchpad Screen

    Here is a screenshot.
In Macbook pro with retina display, app icon often have a low resolution in Launchpad screen.
If the app install again after restarting the mac, the app icon in launchpad screen has normal resolution.
Do anyone know how to resove this problem?

Had this problem from time to time, at random, with Lion. After Mountain Lion it is a lot worse... many icons, non only personalized but also system icons, look blurry and pixelated...
I have done EVERYTHING I read on the many threads about this issue here at apple, as well as on other sites, but nothing helped... (removed thumbnails.data, delete caches, deleter .DS_store files, finder preferences, etc. etc. etc.).
This happens on both my macs, an iMac 2011 and a MacBookPro 2010...
How is it possible to have this BUG since the last 3 version of the OS, with Apple not solving the problem but rather getting worse?

  • Slideshow - stretched image + low resolution

    Hi guys,
I have a wide screen that runs at 1440x900. I have my slideshows configured not to "scale image to fit screen" as my images are in 4:3 aspect and scaling it to fit the wide screen makes everyone look fat...
Viewing a quick slideshow from Finder or Preview works correctly, i.e. the photo fits in the screen's hight, with black down the sides.
When I start a slide show in iPhoto (6 and 08), it switches down to 1280x800, and seems to ignore the "scale image to fit screen" setting being set to "off" - so the images are all stretched sideways.
I suspected at first that it might be a video RAM issue, but the G4 Mini has 32MB dedicated video RAM, and the slideshow works fine (without switching to a lower resolution) in Finder and Preview.
I found one other post, posted in the iPhoto 5 section, with no responses:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5155628&#5155628
Is anyone else seeing this? Is there a way to force iPhoto to leave the resolution alone and obey my scaling wishes?
    Thanks

    koffiejunkie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The three options I have for format are: Current display, 4:3 (iDVD, TV) and Widescreen 16:9. The 4:3 option puts black bars on either side and pins the height. The 16:9 option put black all around the image. Do either of these work for you?
Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Launch iPhoto, reset the preferences and try again.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Facebook pictures uploaded from iPhoto get displayed in low resolution on mac browsers

... but is otherwise fine on PC version of the browsers.
When viewing facebook photos on Safari (or Chrome, or Firefox) on Mac, photos uploaded using iPhoto get displayed in low res. Manually uploaded (through facebook upload tool) photos are displayed ok.

    Hi Jon,
Thank so much for your reply. That portion I comfortable with, but was thinking I could take photos with my mobile phone and have them sync to a folder on my PC as my originals. I dont want to download photo's from my phone. It does work as desired exept the fact that the photos resolution is lower on the PC than the "originals" on the Revel website.
If I right click on the photo in PE and select "download original from revel" it works, but sort of defeats it purpose in my case.
It seems like Photoshop is not importing the pic at the original resolution. ie to me I would expect a "import original resolution" inside photoshop.
    I am using PE12.
I dont like to compare PE revel to apple iCloud, but this is how their software works. If I take a photo on my iPhone its on my mac in full res within minutes to do with as I please. This is what I was thinking Revel could do for me and more. Dropbox, Onedrive and Googledrive all support this, but then I have to import it into PE.
Once again. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated!!
    Kind Regards
    Jason

  • Why don't I have the screen resolution I used to have on my iMac 2400.

I used to have several screen resolutions on my iMac 2400, now I only have two, 1920 X 1200 and 960 X 600.
Because I am a senior, my eyes need a resolution that provides clarity and is not too small.  960 X 600
prevents me from using Microsoft Office because I cannot select all of the options i.e. when I want to
print because the options are beyond the window and I cannot access them.  1920 X 1200 is too small
    for my senior eyes.
Please update the graphics driver with the resolutions I used to have.  More and more
seniors use computers and the younger developers need to understand this otherwise
    they will switch to PCs.
    Thank you

  • Why does my MBP have such a huge Memory File Cache?

My avaiable RAM keeps getting very low (<25 MB) and the Memeory File Cache is huge (5-6 GB). I have to run the Memory Cleaner several times just to get avaiable RAM back to 4-6 GB!

Normal in Mavericks. Delete "Memory Cleaner," which is worthless.

  • Why does the iphone have such a small headphone jack!?

The headphone jack on the iphone is not wide enough for any of my non apple headphones to fit. in fact the official apple cable i have for the ipod video does not even fit... this does not make much sense to me.
also, on a side note, not being able to manually manage songs in itunes is very lame.

    Yeah, slight bummer..
I have a pair of Shure E2c's that wouldn't fit until i took out the ol' razor and carefully trimmed the rubber back about a 1/4" so they would fit. If you can do this without destroying the integrity of the headphone, give it a shot. Or you could purchase an adaptor that works just as well..
I chose the cheap way out.. I already spent $600 for the phone and $100 on the headphones, so I didn't want to spend another $10 for an adaptor.
As far as manually managing music, I really don't see what the big deal is. I created playlists that I want synced and if I want to change something, I simply change it within the playlist and resync.. Does the same.. Don't see a real advantage to manually managing. That's just me though.

  • Why does 9i AS have such lame EJB support? Where is this product going?

I installed 9i AS and really became disgusted with the product.
Oracle shows it's shameless corporate greed by hyping 9iAS as an EJB server -but 9iAS doesn't even support ejb 1.1 !! No entity beans! What a rip off...
Where is this product going? ejb 1.2 is already comming into the market....www.orionserver.com... BUT oracle doesn't even have 1.1 down yet....
What is the estimated development track for 9iAS?
As for me, I am ready to return my 9iAS copy...

Which version was giving you problems?
The latest version of O9iAS does in fact support EJB 1.1 (Session & Entity Beans with both Container Managed Persistence and Bean Managed Persistence). As well as Servlet 2.2, and JSP 1.1.
It does this through Oracle's Enterprise Java Engine, a highly scaleable reliable and available Java virtual machine. Unlike other JVMs, the EJE provides built in session isolation so programmers don't need to worry about thread collisions, concurrent garbage collection, or any of those things. Plus, you can compile the bytecode to native code before runtime for better performance.
That said... I agree the install could be a little simpler, but if you look at everything it's trying to install... you'll realize it's not trivial. Reading the documention is highly recommended.

  • Why do my contacts have such large print? How can i reduce the Size?

mmy contacts are appearing in large print, which means I do,not easily see the whole phone number. How can alter the size of the print?

There is a second way, new with IOS 8. Try settings> Display and Brightness> text size> adjust size using the slider switch. At least that's how it works on my iPad.

  • Why does low resolution warning show when I used a high resolution camera

    Hi,
I am just learning about iphoto, and have been uploading photos I took with a 4 mega-pixel camera. I have printed out photos at Kodak printers directly from the camera, and they came out great. However, when I upload the photos to the Mac, then burn them to a CD, and try to print them they come out blurry and have the low resolution warning. Does anyone know why that is happening? Is there a setting that decides the photo quality when pictures are uploaded?
Are the photos I have now "doomed" to be at low resolution?
    Thanks

The "share" function actually places a mini-library on the CD so that it can be loaded into another Mac that has iPhoto. Just like in your library, the CD will contain, for each photo, the original "out of the camera" version AND the most recently modified version AND a thumbnail for viewing within iPhoto. Apparently the thumbnail was the one that was inadvertently selected for printing and, of course, the resolution is minimal.
If you want to burn a CD for use on a PC or to give to your favorite photo-finisher, create a folder on the desktop and "File/Export" the contents of the album to that folder. Then, EXIT iPhoto and burn the CD with the contents of the desktop folder. After checking the CD and confirming that all is OK, you can trash that folder.

  • Creating low resolution copy of iPhoto library

I've got 15 000 high resolution (10 Mpx) on my iMac and would like to have a low resolution copy of the whole library with me on my MBP.
How would I do this, while preserving tags, albums, creation dates, etc?
If I just export all my photos in a lower resolution and then imports them, I'd loose everything like that, right?
Should/can I copy the library, resize the pictures (how?) and then delete all high resolution copies?

    goka
The correct way to do this is to export all the pics from the iMac library using the File -> Export command. In the resulting dialogue you can
    - write the tags to the files on export, and
    - the export process will maintain all the Exif data - i.e creation dates etc.
    - resize the pics as you wish
If you export Album by Album to seperate folders it is very easy to recreate your set up on the MBP. - Just drag and drop the Folders of images to the Source Pane on the library on the MBP and iPhoto will create an Album for each Folder.

  • Images dragged out of trash have low resolution

Some Aperture images ended up in system, not Aperture, trash. Found them there and dragged them out only to find they have very low resolution now. Can't find a way to restore their original resolution. The "Masters" seem to have the same low resolution. For reference, the originals were over 24 mbs and the ones out of the trash were reduced to around 500 kbs.

Whoops on the "solved" issue. My thinking was that the answer was that I deleted incorrectly, thus solving the mystery. Recovering the info via backup was then something else...if that makes sense. I hope nobody is turned off by the "Solved" notation. I know I look at those especially because they are solved whereas many other discussions just sort of fade away without a definite conclusion.
    To answer your questions:
    1. I used the delete commands, like "delete version", "delete masters and all versions".
    2. OS 10.6.8
    3. The library is on the computer's HD, but I have Time Machine and another external drive for the Vault feature.
    4. I have 5100 images, cannot locate where the actual size is and in any case would not know the "before" size to compare it with to see if the Masters went away or just hid.
    5. I have all the files I dragged out, haven't emptied the trash or deleted anything since I had this problem.
    6. The folders have various names I gave them or which were generated by the program, I guess, and none of them are labelled "masters". I have searched thru all folders and projects, and thru the photos and have not found the masters in question. I never generated a seperate "Masters" folder. Sounds like a good idea though.
    7. I originally migrated over from iPhoto, a messy process for me, but that was long ago. Since then I have only imported via cameras and never had a problem with that. The images in question, the 24mb ones, are from the newly supported raw files from a Sony Nex-7 and no problems with those images in general. Just a handful of them got lost. Most are just fine, so there is no pattern there.
At some point, perhaps when Ap4 comes out, I would like to find a way to start completely over!
I'll do the backup restoration thing when you advise me to go ahead, and again would appreciate any advice on the best way to do that. Never did it before. Thanks again, Carl
