Why do JPGs print as a mix of characters after Leopard upgrade?

I can print MS Word document. I can print a Jpeg files through iPhoto. However,I can't print a JPEG with Photoshop CS3. It sends the file to my HP Color LaserJet 2550n, but it prints out several lines of mixed characters across dozens of pages. No image prints, just the jumble of letters and numbers.
I just updated to Leopard and Adobe Creative Suite CS3 this month. Prior to this I had no problems with printing. I print wirelessly from my MacBook Pro to my Airport Extreme (white dome).
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this? I do not what to find workarounds. I would really prefer to have a driver downloaded as I do not like to mess with the computer code.
I have seen many posts with differing printing errors with Leopard. It seems that my problem is not as bad as a few others are facing. Has anyone heard if a fix is on the way?
Thanks for any tip you can provide.

I can print a new image (with .jpg extension, taken 28Jan2008) in Preview and iPhoto, however in Photoshop CS3, it will print out dozens of pages with just a few characters, to a few dozen characters along the top of each page.
I can print a old image with .jpg extension taken several years ago in Feb.2006 in iPhoto or Preview but not in Photoshop.
So my assumption is that Photoshop is the problem. I am looking at the Adobe forums as well. But so far not much luck.
Anyone with a thought to share????
Thanks,

  • Why does the print cue window stay open even after job is done?

In Tiger, and every other version of OSX I have any recollection of using, the printer window opens to display what's in the cue when you select to print something. Once printing is done, this cue closes. Since installing Leopard, everytime we print from our iMac, MacBook or MBP, the print cue window stays open indefinitely after the job is done, requiring a manual closing of the window. I can't for the life of me fathom what benefit this brings or who would want this. Is this part of Leopard or a problem with our install? Something I can turn off?

If you control-click (or right click) on the open printer queue in the Dock you can choose to have it auto close once the spool file is sent.
As to why this is necessary in Leopard, well I haven't seen a good enough answer to date...

  • Can no longer print to shared windows printer after leopard upgrade

    Hi guys,
I know this is a topic that has come up before, and I have gone through the support forums trying to resolve this on my own, but I am at a roadblock. Printing used to work on Tiger, and now it doesn't, and I simply don't know how to debug the problem any further. Hopefully someone here can help me help myself... In the meantime because of this issue, and several others, I've had to "downgrade" back to Tiger.
    Here are the "facts".
    1. I have a Epson Stylus R300 printer.
    2. Printer is connected to windows XP box.
    3. Said xp box is on network at 192.168.1.101
    4. Mac ip is 192.168.1.102
    5. Windows workgroup name is sutter_wg
    6. shared printer name is stylus_pc
I have added the advanced tab to the add printer dialog and thus have access to directly putting the address of the printer. I don't really understand samba - I was only able to get it to work on Tiger by reading through the support forums. I have not been as successful with the Leopard support forums. I'm doing the following from memory as I'm not currently at my mac... anyway, this is the address I used to "add" the printer.
    smb://192.168.1.101/stylus_pc
    smb://192.168.1.101/sutterwg/styluspc
When I go to print, it is placed in the print queue and nothing happens. No error message, and no print. Looking at the print queue, it's in the stop state. But I don't get any information on why it went to stop that I can use to debug. Did it not resolve the ip? Was there some kind of permissions problem? Is there a printer driver incompatibility? I don't know. I don't know how to find out.
So here's what I've done so far from a debug point of view.
    1. I've proved that I can connect to the windows box in Leopard via the "go to server" option in Finder.
    2. I've connected the stylus to the mac directly and printed from there. No problems. Interestingly though, it's a different printer driver. When I connect the printer up directly, the printer driver is for Epson Stylus R300, my exact printer. However when I add the printer via the network, the best I can do is a generic "epson stylus" printer driver. I went to epson web page to download the latest driver, and they only have drivers for 10.4. No 10.5. Apparently Leopard has a 10.5 driver built in since it used it when I connected directly, but that driver does not appear to be available when I add the printer via the network. What gives?
So that's where I'm at. If anyone has any help to offer, I'd much appreciate it.
    Thanks!
    -Kris

  • HT4623 Why I cannot use the new feature of phone after I upgraded to ios 6???

I have already upgraded to iOS 6, but why I still cannot use the new feature of phone??
I cannot reject calls by sending them message.  What happen??

While ios 6 is compatable with the iPhone 4, many of its features are not available for the 4. The features need the 4s or 5. See here:
Turn-by-turn navigation is available only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 or later with cellular data capability. Flyover is available only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2 or later, and iPod touch (5th generation). Cellular data charges may apply.
Siri is available in Beta only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad (3rd generation), and iPod touch (5th generation) and requires Internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area.  Cellular data charges may apply.
FaceTime video calling requires a FaceTime-enabled device for the caller and recipient and a Wi-Fi connection. FaceTime over a cellular network requires iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, or iPad (3rd generation) with cellular data capability. Availability over a cellular network depends on carrier policies; data charges may apply.
Offline Reading List is available on iPhone 4 or later, iPad 2 or later, and iPod touch (5th generation).
Made for iPhone hearing aids require iPhone 4S or iPhone 5.
Panorama is available on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPod touch (5th generation).
Find My iPhone and Find My Friends enable you to locate iOS devices only when they are on and connected to a registered Wi-Fi network or have an active data plan.

  • HPC8180 Printer wont connect to wireless network, after firmware upgrade to Wireless Router

My HPC8180 has been connecting wirelessly since I bought it sometime ago.  I recently had to upgrade the firmware on my Netcom NB9W wireless router and since then my HP wont resolve to the wireless network.
I run the Wireless Network wizzard on the printer, select the correct SSID and enter the WEP key as per instructions.
    It then will not connect.
The summary I print out says it passes everything except:
    No Filtering = Fail
    Connected = Not Run
Signal Strength = Very Low (which is strange because it's about 10ft from Wireless Router).
Other networks detected matching your network name (SSID) = No
    Summary says:
    Network Name (SSID) altnet (correct)
    IP Address = Not applicable
    Configuration Source = Not applicable
    Communication Mode = Infrastructure
    Authentication Type = Open System
    Encryption = 64-bit WEP
I have NOT turned on mac address filtering
    Any ideas??
    This question was solved.

Your router appears to be a DSL modem router.  Those can be tricky to connect to.  Also, WEP can be problematic and is no longer a good security measure.  WEP can be broken in about 10 minutes with freeware from the internet.
    Let's do three things:
    1. Change to WPA or WPA2 encryption.  You can make up your own password.  Make it 13 or more characters, numbers and letters, upper and lower case.
    2. Reset the Network Defaults in your printer (Setup > Network area).
    3. Attach to the router in this way:
Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the telephone line from the router
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the device (Wireless Setup WIzard)
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address).
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank
    - Finally, plug in the phone line, reboot the router and test.

  • After Leopard upgrade printing with lexmark 4350

After I installed Leopard, I was amazed that Apple has not find a solution for printing with my Lexmark 4350 printer. In fact Apple service just went quiet and refuses to even answer. I find this 'Microsoft Attitude' amazing. Issuing a new operating s/w and not telling the customers that they might have potential printing problems is irresponsible. Besides my frustration, my problem is the printer driver for the Lexmark 4350. It just does not work with Leopard. I can scan but not print.
Appreciate if anybody has a suggestion, even so it means buying another printer. If so which one?
    Thanks!

I don't know if you got a fix for this or bought a different printer but I found a work around for this. I just bought the new 20" iMac with Leopard installed. I have a Lexmark 4350 all in one. Lexmark's website states not to install the driver from the CD or to download from Lexmark website. Instead open system pref in Leopard, select print/fax. Add new printer. (be sure your printer is plugged in and powered on) Select the printer that shows and should get a message that unable to find drivers. Select the software updates and there should be a Lexmark 53MB driver update you can download. Do that (no need to restart) Printed my test page ok and I was able to scan as well. Hope this helps others!!

  • Why is the full screen button missing in iPhoto11 after Lion upgrade?

I upgraded to iPhoto11 with Snow Leopard with no problems. Loved the new look and full screen view. Now that i've installed LION iPhoto appears to have reverted back to the iPhoto 09 look. For example, the full screen tab is missing....  WTH???

I think the problem is that the full-screen button has been moved in the Lion apps. In Snow Leopard it used to be the bottom left, in Lion it is in the top right corner. Is it there in your case?

  • Why does my iPhone not allow me to sync after iOS5 upgrade?

I recently upgraded my iPhone 4to iOS 5 and I lost everything from my phone (all apps, music, contacts, etc.) and cannot sync to my iTunes account.  Any help out there?

It might have a software issue that needs to be resolved.
I would first try to reset the device by holding the home button and sleep/wake button until you see the apple logo. Then release. Wait for the phone to come back on and try again.

  • Why does jpg export change my document size?

This is a minor annoyance I noticed after I upgraded to CS6.
This is the correct size of my InDesign document...
So why do the dimensions change a fraction of an inch when I export my ID document as a jpg?
    (from Photoshop)

Well you can't have half a decimal pixel.
    Like - 6685.2 pixels
So it needs to round it somehow.
How is it if you start an InDesign document using Web instead of Print in the File>New Document
    Then open that in Photoshop?

    Hi pa_tom,
In your printers folder on your computer, is the default printer set to your printer, or your printer- fax?
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

Why does ical print out staring the week on tuesday?
Maybe the week starts one day later for the Yosemite dev team, but certainly not in my neck of the woods.
The actual print out also looks nothing like the new matt and  'flat' graphic style of Yosemite.
I suggest you start on monday next week and sort these issues out.

For many people that is the correct option. If you think it should be different, tell Apple, as they aren't listening here.

why cant i print from my ipad using airport express but i can print from my mac using the express

Because your printer has to be Airprint compatible and connected to WiFi. There are applications, such as Printopia, that will allow you to print through your computer.

  • Feedback: Why isn't Print to PDF a default option in Windows 8.1 RT on Surface 2?

Why isn't PRINT TO PDF a stock feature of Windows 8.1 RT and IE 11?
One of the biggest reasons why people prefer chrome over IE is the built-in print to PDF.
while you can easily get around this on full 8.1, on Windows RT, print and apps are very limited - so we depend entirely on what Microsoft puts in the OS.
Please Microsoft, allow print to PDF as a built-in feature of IE 11 and Windows 8.1 RT.
