Why do my attempts to update my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.0.6 repeatedly fail?
I recently downloaded the iOS 7.0.6 software update to my iPad and my wife's iPhone 5 without any difficulty at all. However, when I try to update my own iPhone 5, I repeatedly get a "Software Update Failed...An error occurred downloading iOS 7.0.6" message. Please help. Thanks.
I reset my iPhone 5 but was still unable to download the iOS 7.0.6 software update. If I were to install iTunes on my PC, as suggested above, what would I do after that?
As I mentioned previously, I was able to do the download directly onto another iPhone 5 and an iPad without any problem. This, I find the whole thing kind if confusing.

I attempted to update my iphone 3 using itunes. I'm not certain but I believe I did a backup on my pc first. I am now unable to use the phone at all - the slide bar won't move and I have a camera icon next to the slide bar which is not responsive. I have tried to sync and even left the phone connected to the pc overnight. The phone is going flat within a couple of hours and won't stop beeping every few seconds and seems to be syncing all the time, even when disconnected from pc. I am fearful that I have lost all my contacts - nothing is working - can anyone help - please?
Try resetting it if you can: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release. If you can't, try to connect it to iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your sync settings and click Restore to restore it. If that doesn't work you'll have to force it into recovery mode to restore it as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.
You can check in iTune to see if you have a backup. They are listed in iTunes>Preferences>Devices. However, the backup may not bring your contacts back as contacts are only backed up as necessary to preserve the recent call and call favorites lists. -

This means the iPhone was hacked to be unlocked. The 3GS was not sold in the US as officially unlocked.
Restoring an iPhone with iTunes that was hacked to be unlocked or installing a firmware update on an iPhone that was hacked to be unlocked re-locks the iPhone to the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked when new. In this case, re-locked with ATT. -

I have attempted to update my iPhone to ios8. My phone has gone into recovery mode. I have tried all of your recommendation and it will not come out of recovery mode. HELP!
Without knowing what you did and exactly what happened (error messages) all I can suggest is:
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

There are actually a lot of games which are compatible with your older device which runs iOS 4.2.1. You just need a tool to separate them from the incompatible apps.

Apple only supports the Update of iPhone 4 today to iOS 6.0.1. This is the only iOS supported, Apple does not support using iOS 5 for Firmware Updates anymore, not even iOS 6.0, only 6.0.1
If you would like to Update your iPhone to iOS 6.0.1, then use iTunes 10.7 or 11 on computer to Update or Restore. -

If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

Dear Sirs,when i use the computer updating my iphone to ios 7.1,suddenly black out.The computer has no power and my iphone does not work and keep display the screen saying the iphone need to connect to itunes. hopelessIf you didn't back up the phone to iCloud or iTunes (on your computer) BEFORE attempting the update, the data will be lost.
