Why do my emails appear briefly, then promptly disappear?

I am not using the cloud as my computer has programs that only work with Snow Leopard. I can send emails from either mac.com or me.com, on my iPhone or my computer, to any address and the email appears briefly, but then instantly disappears and the relevant inbox shows no messages. There is also no record on my mobile me account, which is otherwise working fine (storing pictures and files etc). The local Apple store has tried to fix it, even contacting Apple chat while I was there, but so far everyone is baffled. Any ideas?

Correction to the above. The email only disappears if sent to the mobile me or mobile mac address. An email sent FROM either of these Apple addresses, to a different address works fine. Sorry!

  • IPhone email appears briefly then disappears

    When not at my desktop, certain emails appear briefly on my iPhone, then disappear. When I get to my desktop computer, they are present. It seems that emails to or from that folder are the ones affected.
    I thought it might be related to a POP account seeing the email on one device and removing it from others, but I have archived my email accounts and created new IMAP accounts.

    Here is the fix that worked for me:
    If you are using FireFox (if you weren't using it you wouldn't be here) and look in your extensions for a Searchbar by Zugo. Uninstall it and you should be all set.
    Tools > Add Ons > Extensions

    Hi NicoMan,
    According to your description ,we seem to suffer a performance issue here.
    Have you tried to open the task manager to check the system performance  ? Is there any specific process occupied many system resources ?Will the issue occur only with the specific applications ?
    We can try to restart the Windows Explorer process to have a check.
    If it only occurred with the spefcific two applications ,we can try to end the other application processes manually from the task manager to have a check .
    If this is caused by the specific application ,we may need to look for help from the third party support considering they are all the third party applications .
    Best regards

  • Mail message appearing and then quickly disappearing

    I keep seeing alerts for email messages pop up in the top right corner of my screen. They disappear before I can even see who they are from. When I check my inbox, there's nothing. Nothing in junk mail or any other folder either.
    I am getting email alerts for the emails that do end up in my inbox, but these alerts that appear and then quickly disappear are driving me nuts. There are a few forums I'm a part of and other services I use like eBay that I am not receiving emails from at all (except password reset types of emails).
    My guess is that Mail is deciding that these emails are junk and filtering them, but I have no idea where they are going or how to stop this.
    Any ideas?

    I'm not sure this will work, but try disabling Mail alerts in Notifications, log out/in, and then set them back up.

  • HT3180 I followed instructions above for  Apple TV with aluminum remote.   Still no response.  Screen is black.  Apple icon appeared briefly then went back to black screen.

    I cannot access Apple TV.  I restarted using the instructions to press menu and down together.   The apple icon appeared briefly and then the screen went black.   What can I do to restore Apple tV?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
    Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

  • Why do some emails appear in Intenet Explorer but not on Firefox?

    My friend sent an email using a program in which she used her handwriting for the fonts. The email appears clearly when I use Internet Explorer but all that arrives when I use Firefox is a blank page although her name appears in the Inbox. I can't open some emails that require media player, either.
    Fafing

    Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
    If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • When home page displays the Yahoo!sites icons display then promptly disappear.

    When the Yahoo (Canada) main page displays or when returning from another page, the yahoo!sites icons display alongside the site descriptions and then quickly disappear. Seems rather strange. It does not happen in Internet Explorer. Is there a solution?

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Open and Save Dialog Boxes Appear Briefly then Close

    Open and save dialogs on my MDD 867 flash briefly and then close themselves in my administrator account. All the other accounts are fine. This makes me suspect something in the Library. I just did a wipe and install plus Migration Assistant to no avail--which furthers my suspicion of Library problems.
    Anyone have any suggestions which file(s) could be the culprits?

    More than likely it's a conflict/corrupted amongst the various preference (plist) files. Log into a good admin account, backup the bad account's folder, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option (which is stored in /Users/Deleted Users/ as a disk image), recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files is a laborious process. Good luck.

  • On ebay front page summary the 'ended' list title appears briefly, then disappears - only happens of Firefox on the imac.

    When I log onto ebay and go to the front page with a summary of my account, under the Watch List there are headings for all the items. As the page loads the heading for 'ended' appears in the bar, then disappears.
    I've tried deleting the tab; removing cookies, but it keeps happening. This is only on my Apple imac, using Firefox - on my Windows using Firefox it's fine.

    mixalis88,
    I appreciate the suggestion, but that did NOT fix the problem. I, however, HAVE fixed the problem...I now use Google Chrome as my browser.
    It may not be perfect, but it correctly displays the websites I visit most, and I dont get that Goddamn annoying re-direct page in Google like I do in FF.
    I use to LOVE FF...but until they work out the bugs, I'm done with it.

  • Why does my email appear when i send an imessage?

    When I send an iMessage to someone else with an iPhone, it comes up as my email instead of my cell phone number. I haved looked all over the internet and I have also been on the phone with Tech Support for over an hour. But then he was gone all of the sudden? Does anyone know how to make my number show up instead of my email?

    Yeah send it from your phone.
    Your computer has no knowledge of your phones phone number, it is not a phone.

  • Why do my emails appear as spam to some recipients?

    I use Timewarner as my internet provider. My email through them is [email protected] I have a gmail account: [email protected] Many times when I use Thunderbird to send emails they get bounced back to me with messages telling me they're spam (they're not). Sometimes they end up in the recipients junk folder but many times they simply disappear. If I go to the Timewarner website and send the exact same email from their server it gets delivered properly. Same with gmail. It's as if Thunderbird is making my emails into spam. The recipients that I'm having trouble with do not have me marked in their spam filter. Also, it's with recipients that I've had no problems in the past-it's just suddenly they can't receive my emails. Sometimes it clears up on it's own. Other times it comes and goes. I've been using Thunderbird for over 10 years and it's only had this issue for the last year or so.
    Also, possibly related, sometimes when I write a long emails and send it I get a message saying "attaching" even though there's no attachment. The email won't get sent. If I copy the email text, cancel the original, and resend it quickly it goes through. I have done several virus checks and everything seems clear.
    Thank you
    Joe

    your latter issue sounds very like McAfee anti viruses. Your first could be anti virus related as well.

    Thank you, Matt. I may have had McAfee on this computer in the past but it's long gone. I've been using Microsoft security essentials. It runs virus checks daily.
    I suspect a bug in Firefox. I'm tempted to reload it but I don't want to lose any of my emails.

  • When I start firefox 9.0.1 in windows xp, a popup that says "Log onto x-marks" appears briefly, then the browser locks up. If I can hit cancel before it locks up, the browser works normally.

    It was working fine, then all of a sudden it started doing this. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it from the internet, but it still does the same thing. Rebooting the computer didn't help either.

    Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:
    * [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Template:clearCookiesCache/ Clear Cookies & Cache]
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    Check and tell if its working.
