Why do my EMPTY audio tracks playback ANOTHER audio track?

Why do my EMPTY audio tracks playback ANOTHER audio track?
Example: A vocal track (audio 2) being played through an empty guitar track (audio 1).
The vocal track is magically being played through the guitar track with distortion. WHAT possible feature is this good for and how do I get rid of this annoying problem? I looked at the reassign tracks menu and it doesn't say its connected or anything... I don't know if this has been addressed before on this site but I can't find the answer any where on Apple Discussion's website. Please help.
Thanks

A key concept to understand is that Logic is more flexible when it comes to "tracks" than most other DAWs.
For instance, most DAW use a fixed "one arrange track is one audio channel" approach.
Logic doesn't. You can have many arrange tracks all assigned to the same audio mixer channel (although only one will sound at a time).
You probably have two arrange tracks assigned to the same audio object (key command "New arrange track with same object") rather than creating a new arrange track together with a new independent audio channel (key command "New arrange track with next object").
Try this. Hit the + button at the top of the track list, and create a new audio track. This creates a new arrange track and assigns it to the next available audio object.
Move your second region to this new track - does that work as you expect now?

  • Stopping audio and starting another audio when button clicked

    Hello,
    I have a multiple slide document, and I want sound to stop
    when they click the "Next" button, and another audio clip to start.
    Here is what I have so far:
    //audio
    x = new Sound();
    x.attachSound("Slide1");
    x.start(0, 0);
    musicplay = true;
    forward_btn.onRelease = function() {
    gotoAndStop("2");
    numbering eq numbering++;
    So I just want it to play audio clip "Slide2" when they click
    forward_btn, and I want "Slide1" to stop.
    Thanks!

    Attach your second sound file to the frame that will play the
    second sound. Then try adding stopAllSounds() before the
    gotoAndStop("2"); to get the first sound to stop playing and then
    play the second sound.

  • Nudging audio during playback with audio plugins applied causes crash

    Hi,
    We are having some unusual crashes at the moment in a very specific situation:
    1. An audio effect is applied to at least one track of audio. Reverb and compression cause it but not EQ.
    2. During playback
    3. Nudging an audio clip using Alt and the left and right arrow keys. One nudge is ok, several quick nudges in succession causes a crash.
    The machine starts beachballing and never seems to stop. Video playback continues.
    This is obviously quite easy to workaround but just wondering if anyone else is having this issue and also wanted to highlight to Adobe.

  • How to fade in/out audio to play another audio in iPhone?

    My app wants to play some sound when iPod is playing a song.
    When the app is to play sound, I want to lower the iPod's volume, and play my sound at a higher volume.
    But It seems I can't set different volumes for iPod and my app.
    [[MPMusicPlayerController iPodMusicPlayer] setVolume:DEFAULT_VOLUME];
    AudioQueueSetParameter(m_AQInfo.mQueue, kAudioQueueParam_Volume, gain);

    Seems not a good question

  • Triggering an instrument track with another?

    I've always wanted to trigger an instrument track with another instrument track . More specifically i want to trigger sculpture with a reaktor sequencer for more real time control. Can this be done in logic 8. You can with cubase ,ableton etc. Anyone know?

    AU plugins can't output MIDI, so you'd need to use Reaktor as a standalone, and send it's sequencer output through the IAC bus to control/play Logic instruments.

    In the audio file editork, "Snap Edits to Zero Crossings" option works fine.

    correction needs to be made to step #14, I typed:
    14) Point to the start or end one of the clips, when you see the icon showing arrows going either way, right click and drag your clips to roughly match up with the timeline selection, then zoom in further and adjust the clip start and end points to match up exactly with the timeline selection start and endpoints.
    Here is the correction, THE CORRECTED PARTS ARE CAPITALIZED:

  • Why is audio disappearing from Extracted Sound Track File?

    I extracted the +Sound Track+ from a .mov file which was originally a .wmv file I'd edited and saved in QT Pro. Regarding the original movie from which I extracted the Sound Track, +Movie Properties+ indicated the +Video track+ as being +Sorenson H.263.+ The Sound Track extracted was +MPEG Layer 3.+
    +MovieProperties/Audio Settings+ displayed Sound Track as a Mono audio track.
    The extracted sound track appeared in a new QT Window/Player as "Untitled".
    I hit play and the audio track played. I saved it as a Self-Contained Movie, hit play and it played again, no problem.
    ( +Movie Properties+ still displayed the +Sound Track+ Format as MPEG Layer 3/Mono)
    I quit QT Pro and turned my attention to other projects in other applications.
    Later, when I booted QT Pro and tried to listen to the Extracted Sound Track File, I hit play and the playhead moved, but there was no audible audio, or indication of audio in the equalizer display. It was as if the audio had disappeared. Opening +Movie Properties,+ the +Extracted Sound Track+ still appeared as MPEG layer 3/Mono and the track was still enabled.
    On a hunch, I opened and played the original Movie from which I'd extracted the sound track. After that, I hit play again on the Extracted Sound Track Window/Player and voila! -- the audio miraculously reappeared and was fully audible. I don't understand. Why is this happening? I did save the Extracted Sound Track file as a self-contained movie. It doesn't make sense.
    More to the point, _how does one extract a sound track and save/process it such that the extracted sound track remains intact with full playback capability, without first having to play the original movie from which it was extracted in order to make the Extracted Sound Track file playback._

    Thanks RT...
    The curious thing is, if I boot the computer and open the +Extracted Sound Track+ file in Quicktime, it's hit or miss. Sometimes the audio is there. Sometimes it's not. If I however, play ANY other Quicktime Movie on my computer and THEN open the +Extracted Sound Track+ File, the audio miraculously reappears. What can it be?
    I've got Streamclip. Haven't used it much but I'll try your approach and export the file back to a Quicktime Format.

  • Exporting 6 channel discrete mono tracks (5.1 mix) I only get 2 tracks with compressed audio and 4 empty track on my output.

    Exporting 6 channel discrete mono tracks (5.1 mix) I only get 2 tracks with compressed audio and 4 empty track on my output. I'm using Premiere Pro CC14, sequence settings and export setting pasted below.  Please help need to export feature trailer for iTunes release next week.  Yikes!!!

    Thanks for the notes.  Im almost there but not quite.  I create my sequence 5.1 like you said
    then map the dots and LFE.  But when I go export media is only give me the option of 1 track 5.1 not 6 discrete channels.
    I check my settings and they LOOK right
    then I go into my modify clip settings and I see the number of audio tracks as 1 so maybe thats why Im getting only 1 channel 5.1.
    But when I select different settings in modify clip environment I can get it to LOOK correct to me
    everything seems to be assigned correctly.  But when I go back to export it only still gives me the same option of exporting with 5.1 as a single track.

  • Copy and Paste audio track MIX from one track to another??

    Hi
    What's the best way to handle this.
    I have a video with one long music track, that I mixed using Adobe Premiere's Audio Mixer.
    The musician made a new version of the track with some very slight modifications in the music.
    Rather than having to remix the entire new track, I would prefer to either:
    1) Copy and paste the attributes of the orginal audio track onto the new music track -- retaining the Mix I did from the original mix.  Is this possible?  I tried it once and it did not seem to work.  (I used the Mixer, not keyframes, to do all of the mix.)
    or
    2)  Is there a setting in Premiere's Audio mixer to "gang" the new track to the old one -- with the new track cloning the old track's mix.
    Or would it be better to bring the two audio tracks into Soundbooth and do it there?
    Thanks,
    ...Rowby

    Thanks Colin
    I did a complicated mix on one long background music track and was not looking forward to doing that remix because of various minor music changes made by the musician scattered throughout that long track.
    Your Alt (for replace solution) worked perfectly and saved me a ton of time.
    The fact that Copy attributes for Audio doesn't work for copying audio keyframes is another reason do do audio mixes using the Mixer instead of using keyframes to adjust volume.

    P.S.   And a big LIKE to Adobe's clever programmers for including features like these.

  • Can you bounce  or combine two audio tracks  onto   a third  track

    Not sure if "bounce" is the right term. (And I am not talking about simply copying and pasting the regions onto the third track)
    I have vocals on one track. Second vocal on another track with no overlap (But lets assume there was some overlap anyway) Can you send these tracks and combine them onto a third track. My obective is simply to save space, but I could also see using this trick to double the vocals. Can this be done, and if so how? Thanks.
    With my old Zoom hard disc recorder you simply soloed the two tracks and play/rec onto the third track with Zooom's "bounce" button enabled.

    Thanks Fox But as to your comment 1, are the regions going to "combine" on one of the existing tracks ?
    Why don't you simply try it out ? I don't like spoilers... 8-)
    And as to your comment 2, when you say "arm the new track for recording," do you then simply "rec" the whole segment of music in order for everything to be sent to the new third track? And must tracks 1 and 2 be soloed?
    Look, if you have set up the two tracks to send their output to the bus, only these two will send their audio output to the bus, so you don't have to solo them. And since you don't want to record to these two tracks, you naturally only arm the new track for recording. When you then hit the record start button (or use the appropriate key command), the two tracks will play back, feed into the bus, and the new track will leech it's data out of the bus so you'll get a nice, new, neat mixdown.
    Now off to the workbench! Learning by doing if much more rewarding than discussing "ifs and buts"

  • No Sound from Logic Express 8 during track playback?

    Hi and Help. I am probably being stupid and I guess this is simple to clear up. I have read the manual but I can't find a resolution (probably miussed that to!). Anyway the problem is this, I have just bought Logic Express 8, set up was fine on my macbook pro intel core duo which is also linked to logitach Z-10 speakers (actually good!). Upon opening Logic I set up a track (by the way Core Audio is on) and drag a loop from the brouser into a new track, it locates in the track and I play it back, nothing, not a sound or blip on the channel indicator. I can audition the loop in the brouser and it plays fine. Why no sound playback from the track??
    Can you help please, I have odviously missed something simple but I don't know what it is.

    Well yes I was being stupid. I have resolved the issue, it was down to understanding terminalogy. All is working.

  • Can't get more than one Ultrabeat sound setting in one project. If I have a drum track with an Ultrabeat "downtempo kit" and I make another drum track with "hip hop kit" in the same project, the settings of the other track transform to "hip hop" setting.

    So here's my situation.  I'm using Logic Pro 9.  I'm trying to use multiple drum tracks each with different Ultrabeat settings.  So let's say I have drum track with a loop from Ultrabeat that has the "downtempo kit 2" setting on it.  If I make another drum track and create a different loop in Ultrabeat with a different setting, let's say "hip hop kit" for example, and put that loop onto the new track, then the previous loop that I had in the first drum track will still be the same loop but the sound kit settings change to that of "hip hop kit."  So I can have different loops, but they all have to be "hip hop kit" settings or "downtempo kit 2" settings.  I am unable to multiple kit settings.  Is there a box I need to check to turn some automation off or something, because this is pretty inconvinient?  Why do I have to have only one Ultrabeat sound/kit setting per Logic project?

    Sounds like maybe you're using the same channel strip on multiple tracks? Make sure you're creating a new software instrument channel strip for each independent instance of Ultrabeat you want to have. If you use the same CS, then all tracks that use it will have to have the same kit.

  • Error message after upgrade to iTunes 11: "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly."  At this point my PC running XP loses all audio.

    Several attempts to upgrade to iTunes 11 have failed.  After an upgrade to 11 the error message reads: "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly."  At this point--after the upgrade to iTunes 11--my PC running Windows XP loses audio playback for all functions--in iTunes, in the browser and the volume icon disappears from the System Tray.  Only by removing iTunes 11, and then using System Restore to turn back the OS settings can I return the PC to normal functioning.
    I did that.  I reinstalled iTunes 10.5.  Everything seemed fine, but when I try to plug in and copy a CD to my iPhone 4S an error message reads roughly: 'iPhone 4S requires iTunes 10.5 or higher to work.'
    What might be the problem with my audio configuration?
    Why doesn't my iPhone 4S work with iTunes 10.5?  It used to work with iTunes 10.5.
    Please advise.

  • Why does Soundbooth stop immediatly on playback

    I have a Mac Pro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 32  GB memory.  I've recently purchased and installed Adobe Master  Collection CS4. After  loading a mp3 track into Soundbooth CS4, I click  the playback control  and it stops every time after just a split second.  I've tried changing  the Audio Hardware settings, adjust the Buffer  Size, starting up with  shift key depressed to force replacing the  default preferences. I've  checked to see that "Continue audio playback  in background" is selected  and that the Default Device is correctly  set. I've also renamed the  Adobe>Preferences>2.0 folder and  restarted to force new preference  setting to no avail.
    I tried the 5  stepsdescrived by _durin_ :
    If you've got a few minutes, I'd like to find out the results of this  test:
    1. Close Soundbooth if it's open. Open Finder, and go to  Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup and launch that.
    2. In the menu bar, click Audio > Open Aggregate Device Editor
    3. Click the "+" button to create a new Aggregate Device. Name it  whatever you like and select the Built-in Output and Built-In Line Input  as the two devices, then click Done.
    4. launch Soundbooth, open the Preferences > Audio Hardware and  change the selection to your new Aggregate Device. Click OK.
    5. See if you can reproduce the behavior you experienced before.
    Thanks,
         Durin
    except I was unable to creat a Aggregate  Device. When I hit the "+" button, nothing happened. Is it supposed to  pop-up a dialogue or something to create this Device?
    I also tried  Bruno's suggestion
    Hi, I've got the same problem on  my new iMac, and finally I think I was able to fix it.
    1.  First of all you must be connected as an administrator of the  Mac.
    2. Then you have to open the preferences window for  the audio hardware (Adobe->Preferences->Audio Hardware)
    3.  Change the selection for Default Device (e.g. select System Default I/O)
    4.  Now it should work
    Please note that after this action, it started to work  even if I restore the previous default device. Moreover, now it works  also if I start it without being an administrator. Hope this could help  you.
    Bruno.
    but when I selected "System default I/O" I got this  errer:
    Soundbooth  has encountered an error.
    [/Papago/2.0-gm/MediaCore/MediaLayer/AudioSupport/Make/Mac/../../Scr/Mac/CoreAud  ioHost.cpp-536]
    I am greatful for any continuing advise.

    I ultimately resolved this same problem by deleting
         /Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist
    Good luck,
    Ralf
