Why do my incoming phone call ring on my wife's phone as well as mine?

Why do my incoming phone call ring on my wife's phone as well as mine?

That is a new "feature" described in Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity
You can turn it off by going to Settings > FaceTime and changing "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off.

    Do #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Incoming/outgoing calls either hang up or do not ring.

Over the last month, Skype has been giving me and others in my house issues.List of symptoms:Incoming/Outgoing calls do not ring.  However, you recieve a missed call notification.Incoming/Outgoing calls ring but are immediately dropped. This has happened to me and others in my house when using a laptop with wifi and/or a PC with an ethernet connection.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  I have the most current version on Skype (in fact, installed an update last night). I do have comcast but figured it wasn't an Internet issue since I can access all web sites.  This only seems to happen when using Skype. Anyone else having this issue?  Know of a way to fix it?  Thanks.

"Is there anyway to keep it active after hanging up on an incoming phone call. Seems this happens if the phone is in standby when it comes in and answered."
Hmmm. How is it that you're ending the call? If you're using the "End Call" option and pressing on the button, then it SHOULD stay on. I don't have the manual right here in front of me, but you could download it for yourself and see what it has to say about this. Here is the link for the pdf version.
    http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/iphone/
Hope this helps out. Oh and if you want, you can right click on that file and choose to download it to your system. Otherwise it will probably display right in your browser.

  • When on a phone call and an incoming call rings in the display does not show who is calling in. My phone used to that and allow me an option to answer why?

When on a phone call and a second call rings in you do not see who it is or given the option to answer or ignore the call. My phone did that previously. Why would this be?

My phone is doing exactly the same thing... I tried changing the language as someone else suggested but it didn't work. It is very frustrating!!

  • Delay in incoming calls ringing on Lync for Windows Phone

When calling a Lync user on Windows Phone, even if the phone is connected via Wifi, the call takes about 10 seconds longer before it even starts ringing on Windows Phone. As a result it is frequently missed.
If the user is signed into the desktop client and Lync on Windows Phone, it rings immediately on the desktop client, no problem, and you can observe the delay.
Is this a known issue or limitation? Is there any way to reduce the time before the call rings on the phone?

    Hi,
Did the issue also happen on IOS devices and Android Devices?
You can test with IPhone and Android Phones to check the issue.
There are several known issues for Lync mobile, you can refer to the part of “Incoming calls or instant messages (IMs) for Lync on mobile broadband” in the link below:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/lync-help/lync-2013-known-issues-HA102919641.aspx
Please update to the latest version Lync for WPhone and test again.

  • Why won't my Razr Maxx ring when called from my home phone or the other cell phone (I-phone) on my Verizon account?

Why won't my Razr Maxx ring when called from my home phone or the other cell phone (I-phone) on my Verizon account?

    Hi Ruth:
Thanks for reaching out to me about this issue.
This has been happening since I got the phone a couple of years ago.
I did not realize that my home land line and my wife's cell phone
always go straight to voice mail until my wife pointed it out to me
several months ago.  Is there a setting I can adjust?
Yes, I can make calls to our home land line and to her cell phone
without being diverted to voice mail.
Any advice you might have would be most welcome.
    Thanks.

  • All my apple devices ring with each incoming phone call. How can I stop this?

All of my apple devices ring with each incoming phone call. This includes an iPhone 6, an iPhone 4s, and an iPad mini (FaceTime). We have 2 different phone numbers, but they now seem interchangeable? How can I direct each phone call to its rightful phone?

This is part of Apple continuity.  ON all of the devices go to settings - facetime - turn off iphone cellular calls.
also don't use the same apple id for facetime.

  • IPhone 5s incoming call rings on both headsets and speaker while headsets plugged in

Why my iphone 5s rings on both speaker and headsets in incoming call, while the headsets plugged in the phone?

    Hi Lucasethio,
That is expected behavior on a non-muted iPhone. If you mute/silence the ringer with the side switch, you should still hear the ringer through any plugged in headsets as well. You may also find the following article helpful:

  • Incoming Phone Call DND (Do Not Disturb) or ability to send call to voicema

Does anyone know a good way to put a DND (do not disturb) on incoming phone calls? The idea is to send calls directly to voice mail while still leaving the phone on to receive email & text messages. While at work or in meetings, it would be nice to not be bothered by calls especially from specific people. Ideally it would be really nice to one or all of the following:
-Function to send all calls to voice mail without ringing
-An option when an incoming call is coming in to send the person to voicemail with the choice of a prerecorded message such as "In a meeting" or "At work" etc.
-Send specific people to voice mail without ringing, possibly with a prechosen message.

The only option for the iPhone not ringing when a call is received and the same when a text message is received while in a meeting is by turning the silent switch on located above the volume buttons.

  • Unable to hear talking on incoming phone calls

I have been having problems with incoming phone calls.  The phone rings but I cannot hear the person on the other end. I have tried to call my home number from my work and my wife can hear the phone ring but she can't hear me talking on the other end.  I have also been having problems with my caller ID coming through on the TV STB.  When I run the troubleshooter it says to contact Verizon.  Could these issues be related?  I have FIOS service (phone, TV, internet).
Thanks in advance for helping solve this.

  • Incoming phone calls announced

My Razr Maxx has started announcing incoming phone calls instead of ringing.  How can I turn this feature off?  Android version 4.1.2

And if that still doesn't help, maybe there's some sort of glitch that could be remedied with a system cache clear:
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select

  • Incoming FaceTime calls do not ring on MacBook Pro.

I can call other people using FaceTime, but when they try to call me I don't get their call. Sometimes we're on the phone while trying to connect via FaceTime and I can hear their outgoing FaceTime call ringing, but it is not ringing on my computer. They get the message that I am unavailable in FaceTime, even though it's open and I'm there waiting. And their call doesn't show up in my notifications either. I've checked settings, sound, made sure everything is enabled. I can't figure out why I'm not getting their FaceTime calls. I've looked at all the troubleshooting pages and other community questions with same problem. Most of them are using iPad so those suggestions aren't relevant for the MacBook Pro. Thanks for any help.

"We" don't ahve to do anything - mine's working fine
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
Try deleting and reinstalling the app.

  • Change lenght of an  incoming call ring...

how do I change lenght of an incoming call ring tone? I have missed several calls because I didn't get to the phone by the 4th ring. I need more time.

If you are in the U.S., call AT&T and request the length of time before a call goes to voicemail be increased to the maximum which is 30 seconds.

  • HT204380 How does a user of multiple Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac laptop) designate which devices will ring when an incoming Facetime call comes in.  If all three are online, should they all be able to accept an incoming video call?

A friend of mine has an iPhone with a cellular data plan, a Macbook Pro, and a mini-iPad.  She's been using Facetime, but says that all of the devices used to ring at the time of an incoming Facetime call.  Now only her iPhone rings.  How do you set whichever device you want to ring?

James: I agree. Please keep them shorter.
The answers to both questions are no.
The iPad is NOT a computer replacement. It is a mobile device.
The iPad can not stream tro the iPhone nor an iPod.
    Hope this helps....
