Why do my iPad only connects at home
When I'm at home my iPad connects but other places that have wifi it want connect.. Any suggestions
Can you provide any other info on the problem?
What happens when you know Wi-Fi is present?
Some locations require you start the Safari browser where you will be taken to a page where you can accept terms and maybe enter a password?
Try looking in your Settings app.
Settings > Wi-Fi > does the new Wi-Fi network appear in the list?

IPad only connects to home Wi-Fi network when iMac is on and connected????
Since I got my iPad on launch date I've had problems with the Wi-Fi connection. It can always find my home network with a strong signal, and with a bit of trial and error i have discovered that it will only connect to my home network when I switch my iMac on.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
AndyI have a similar issue with wifi. My home wifi is a strong signal but my iPad fails to automatically connect to it all the time and insists on staying on 3G. Weirdly if I go into system preferences and look at the wifi it says Not Connected, as soon as I click on it my wifi shows up and I can select it and it connects without issue and shows full strength. Why does it not auto connect ? It did when I first bought the iPad.
At work it always tries to connect to my office wifi as soon as I turn it on. -
Why has my ipad lost connectivity to the AT&T cellular data network after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2? My iPad is model #MD367LL/A, 32 GB WIFI + Cellular, about 2-1/2 years old. It;s been working perfectly up until now. I have no problem on my home WIFI, or through personal hotspot working through my iPhone 5.
I have worked with AT&T, replaced the SIM card with a new one, and done a backup/restore to factory settings, all with the same result that when I turn Cellular
Data on, with or without Enable LTE, it goes into "searching" mode, or reports "no service". My iPhone 5 works perfectly on iOS 8.1.2, on Cellular. I've browsed the blogs and have tried Apple's suggested fix, all to no result.
Oddly enough, every once in a while I do get connected to the network for a short ime (minutes), but it always returns to "searching".
I've filed a report with Apple, along with a request that they contact me, but no results yet.
Help? (and thank you).Hello razmee209. Thank you for your response. I spent the better part of yesterday working with Apple Support. They tried their best, to include backing up photos to my HP laptop, backing up the iPad to iCloud, then resetting the iPad in total. Same problem. I restored from the cloud to recover my apps, same problem.
AT&T installed a new sim card - same problem. I spent time with AT&T Support yesterday, too. In both cases, (Apple and AT&T) the support techs who worked with me were extremely polite, courteous and helpful to the best of their abilities, but I think the problem lies deeper, and nobody at Apple is admitting they have a problem with iOS 8, that I'm aware of.
I didn't have this issue before I upgraded to iOS 8.1.2.
Everything else with the iPad works fine: WIFI, Personal Hotspot, email, all my apps, etc.
In browsing the web for this issue I see that many other folks have the same problem. I filed a report with Apple this morning, requesting that they contact me, but no word yet. I was going to go to iPhone 6, and had been considering the iPad Air 2, but I see reports of this problem with those units as well.
At this point I don't think I'll be spending any more money with Apple, at least not till this issue is resolved.
Thanks again for your response and suggestions. -
Why does Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit no longer work with iOS8
Why does Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit no longer work with iOS8?
The kit is firmly inserted in thhe iPad's dock ? You could also try a reset and see if it's recognised after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I haven't had problems using the kit with SD cards from Canon cameras . What capacity is the card, and it's an SD or SDHC card - if it's an SDXC card that's formatted as ExFAT then it won't be recognised -
HT204023 Why cant my ipad auto-connect to my phone hotspot?
Why cant my ipad auto-connect to my hotspot? Whenever I turn my HS on I always have to go into my wifi settings on my ipad and manually connect. Its kind of a pain to always have to do this.
That seems to be a hot topic question which no one seems to have an answer to, including Apple. I too have this problem. I just signed up for hotspot this past weekend and am already regretting it and thinking about cancelling it. Not worth the hassle. One can only hope Apple with actually listen to it's users and fix the problem with a future update. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
It SHOULD reconnect automatically after the initial set-up, just like the wifi.
Not a very smart smartphone if you ask me. -

When I go to iPod on my iPad to connect to home sharing it does not appears. Where can I find it ?
Hi
What you need to do is enable home sharing in settings >iPod>home sharing is one of the options log on and away you go
In the iPod app it should show up in library
Remember that iTunes must be open on you computer to work
Happy sharing -
Why does my iPad only receive some of my waitrose e mails?
Why does my iPad only receive some of my waitrose.com e mails?
The camera kit will only see photos that follow a very strict naming convention. There has to be a folder named DCIM, and within that the file names of the photos have to be exactly 8 characters...DSC_3584 for example.
It also will not see SDXC cards unless they have been reformatted.
If those phones don't use the right naming convention the iPad kit simply won't see it. -
HT4060 Why is my IPad only charging to 1% and then stopping?
Hey everyone,
I have had my IPad for about 8 months and only recently it has started charging to 1% and then stopping. Only allowing me to use it for about a minute. Is this happening to anyone else? Why is this happening? What should I do?
<Email Edited By Host>Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Before I start, I've read the FAQs and have looked through a number of topics already posted.
I seem to have the opposite problem everyone else is having. My iPod Touch connects just fine to my home wireless... It connects and I'm able to browse the internet, download apps, etc without fail.
However, when I was at the airport recently (both St. Louis and Dallas/Ft. Worth), my Touch would "connect" to the wireless there, but I couldn't go on the 'net or get new apps, etc. It was behaving as if I wasn't at a location with wireless access. When I returned home, I went to Starbucks, Panera, McDonald's... several places with free, open, easy-to-connect WiFi (and took my laptop to make sure that their wireless was working), and had the same problems as I did at the airport.
Considering the best part of having wireless on the Touch is that you should be able to access it anywhere with WiFi, it seems kind of "useless" to have it only work at home (I have two computers at home; so it's not like I need to use the Touch for internet there).
Any thoughts? Obviously, the whole "check your router settings" / "reset your router" answers are not going to help me, as I have no control over those, nor can I see them at these places. Help would be greatly appreciated!I'm having the same problem. My iPod Touch connects to my home network and another secure network for which I enter the network name and password. However I am unable to connect to any free WiFi, even when my laptop can access it with no problem. The signal is apparently strong; I can see all the bars on the upper left, but when trying to connect to Safari or the app store it says that there is no connection.

IPad Mini connected to home network but still not connecting to internet.
Hi. I have a friend staying and she has an iPad mini. while all other Mac devises are connected to our home internet, her one will not. I have set the network details on her mini using the static ip option and get the blue tick beside our network name. However, we are still not connected to the wifi network. All our Mac devises are connected and her husband's iPad and iPhone are working fine. Help
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
