Why do my .Mov's not play after pressing space bar

I used to be able to press the space bar on any movie file I had and it would open up and play. Now for some reason, it opens up a window but it is just black? If I double click it or open it in Quick TIme it plays fine, but I liked the feature of just clicking my space bar and it playing straight away. Any ideas why it isn't doing this anymore?

You problem sounded rather odd, so I tried to duplicate it in iTunes 11 and I couldn't.
I turned off copy to iTunes media folder when adding to library, then I moved a music track that was not in the iTunes media folder from folder A to folder B and right clicked on it and selected open with iTunes and it played fine. (I have to do it this way as iTunes is not my default player for MP3).
However the consequences of doing this are that you end up with two copies of the track in the library database, the original which can no longer be found as it is not in its original location and the new entry pointing to the correct location which plays OK.
So as far as I can tell, there must be something else going on as I can't dublicate your problem in iTunes 11

If you want an easy time with iTunes it really is easier to let iTunes manage your music in the iTunes media folder. Also it make life a lot easier if you want to move to a new disk or PC as iTunes can tolerate the iTunes media folder being moved as long as you tell it where it is.

I realised that my last experment was not a purchased track.
When I did it with a purchased track, iTunes recognises that it should be in the library database and brings the track up with an exclamation mark next to it. Strangely the track was added to the library with the correct loaction and would play on the secon try.
Odd behaviour, maybe it is something to do with the icloud storage system as iTunes knows you purchased the track.

Thank you for your interest in solving my problem.
What I did I opened iTune. I read the information about what does my computener need to play back a rented movie. My computer is okay to play back rental movies. So I went to the iTunes store, I searched for the movie I want to watch, i singned in into my Mac account and I bought the movie. The movie started to download to my computer, it took some time because I bought a HD version, but it never stop and after a couple of hours or little less the movie was in the Rented folder of my iTunes and also I checked to be sure that was in the movie folder. So, next day I open iTunes and click on the movie, it opens but I wait for five minuetes and never started to play back, so I tried several time and I looked for info in different internet forums but I couldn't find anything that help. So I posted the problem in this forum and also I called Apple. Apple contacted me and they let me to download the movie again. So I did it and now I will watch the movie later. Not sure if the movie will play back normally or if I am going to have the same problem. I'll keep you posted.
Apple representative did not know why this happened.

IWeb 3.0.4 problem under Lion X: Why are my movies unable to play after publishing web-site?

No problems with the above running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Under Lion, I can place movies during the edit phase, set up quicktime to autoplay, and test it and it plays. After publishing the site, the movies do not play. Sometimes a note saying that "a plugin is not available" appears in the movie window. Could this be a Quicktime problem? The movies were placed in iWeb using iTunes from the Media Display and are .m4v files edited in iMovie. The web-site works on iMacs running 10.6.8, and on PC's. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks QTKirk. Tried the web site under firefox 5.0 and the movies played! Not sure about the DivX extension for Safari. There is something called 3ivx on my machine that has something to do with Mpeg. Could you give me the steps to remove this from Safari, assuming that it is the extension you were talking about? How would I see what extensions are in Safari? I'm labeling your response with the correct answer to my problem because either way --- I can always use firefox if I can't get Safari straightened out. Movie will not play after download

I purchased a movie from iTunes and after the download it will not play on my iPad

Try this stuff first.
Quit the Videos App by double tapping the home button to bring up the multitasking/recents tray at the bottom, hold down on any of the app icons in the tray until all the icons wiggle, then tap the minus sign in the corner to quit the videos app. Tap the home button and the apps will stop wiggling.Tap the screen to return to the home screen.
Next - Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears, then slide to the right to power off the iPad. Turn the iPad on again by pressing the sleep button until the Apple logo appears. Once the iPad has fully rebooted, try to play the movie again
If that doesn't work - Try a hard reset by pressing and holding down on the sleep button while holding down on the home button at the same time for about 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - and let go of the buttons. Launch the videos app and see what happens.

amazingly after much fiddling, I got movie to play....now it stopped about 20 minutes into movie...*** apple? Geez, can you make it more complicated? Why isn't this more user friendly? Why does my purchased songs not play after restoring from iCloud?

Does the music appear to be on the iPhone, but won't play?
My iPhone did this after an iCloud backup. If the music is shown but won't play then:
On the iPhone go to settings> general > usage> then delete all of the music. After you've done this sync your iPhone to your iTunes and they should all go back onto the phone and work. ( make sure that all the music is in your iTunes library first)

Why video wont run by pressing space bar ?

Hi there,
Previously in Snow Leopard, when I went to a video filename and press space bar, the video will play.
But now in Mountain Lion (bcos I just bought the new slim iMac), the video wont play anymore when I press the spacebar.
But if I right click the filename and select "Play with" and choose Quick Time Player, it will play the video.
How do I make the video play straight away after pressing space bar ?

Well I did find a way to delete it, by going into the various components and one by one deleting it. Now I reinstall it and the message is that this Quick Time is for an earlier version before Maverick 7. SMH....Now what.?

Why do my Reminders sometimes not alert after the set time? I've tried re-starting repeatedly. I've tried deleting older completed reminders (I only had 300). Is there a fix for this?

Why do my Digital copies not play in iTunes

I have the digital copy of the disc and iTunes imports the file with no problems, it synchs with my iPad 2 and plays perfectly on there but the movie will not play in iTunes. There is no sound or picture (just black screen). The files are .m4v and play perfectly in Quick Time but not in VLC Media Player. My operating system is Windows Vista.

You need to be a lot more specific.
Songs do not magically appear in Playlists, you put them there. However, songs may appear in Smart Playlists, if the songs meet the rules for that Playlist. What are these Playlists, why would you expect purchased songs to appear in them?

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.

Okay. I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

Sounds with Buzz not playing after upload

Hi,
So I have a project that works fine testing in browsers but when I upload it I get no sound. I have the sounds saved in oog, mp3, and wav. The file structure is the same, buzz script is uploaded as well as the sounds folder. I did change the html file name to index.
Does anyone have any ideas on why the sounds wont play?

I'm not using edgecommons. I'm using buzz! for the sounds.
Checking other threads on sound was very helpful in getting the sound set-up. I've been unable to find a thread about sounds not playing after upload except certain formats not playing in some browser. That shouldn't be my issue since I have the sounds in multiple formats, but I'm obviously overlooking something so...

Rented Movies do not play

Rented movies do not play on my Windows7 computer. Neither can I transfer the movies to my iPod Touch. I get the message that "movies have already been transferred to another device" Any suggestions?
