Why do my photos appear as a white screen when I click to view them on my iPhone ?

When I click on a photo in my photo stream to view it it pops up as a white screen and I cannot see the photo. You can see each photo exists in the roll/stream but once you click to enlarge the picture it's a white screen.  Any suggestions?  I have a 4s iPhone.

This went wrong here:
I went back and found the photos in the back up machine (25000) and dumped them on the iPhoto icon.
Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the link to the original photo.
I would suggest that you restore that library from Time Machine again, and then try repair it.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Why do my photos appear as an exclamation mark when I open them?
I used my time machine back up from my old expired power mac and uploaded the contents onto my new iMac.
All of the files uploaded successfully as far as I can see (except the old programs don't work and the consequently all those files are cactus :-( )however when I opened iPhoto only a few photos (500) where in some of the folders.
I went back and found the photos in the back up machine (25000) and dumped them on the iPhoto icon. They down loaded successfully into the correct folders and the thumbprints are visible. When I click on an individual photo the enlarged picture appears for an instant and then an explanation mark in a triangle appears in its place.
The original 500 pics actual worked... now after days of mucking around and with lots of advice I have doubled the number of 'photos' to 50000!!! Ahh,,,, and still the exclamation mark appears
Is there anyway out of this predicament??

I'm sorry your pictures appear different in your gallery sillyymom. I know its frustrating with viewing important images. Are you using a 3rd party picture application? do you have any apps that may be conflicting with your pictures. Have you tried to review your picture settings?

  • Why does my Mac stay on the white screen when I turn it on?

Why does my Mac stay on white screen when I turn it on?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 3
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 4
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 5
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 6.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 6
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 7
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 8
Repeat Step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 9
This step applies only to older Macs (not current models) that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery. Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a boot failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 10
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Why Transaction iView Turns to a White Screen When Right Clicking?

    Hi Experts,
We have created a transaction iView for the property tree in 2 systems: our system and the client's system. In the portal after we open the screen and right click on the screen, the whole screen turns to a white screen. But it only does that in the client's system not our system.
This is the error in the bottom of the page "Object doesn't support the property or method". Both systems use SAP NetWeaver 7.0 2004s. Has anyone come across this issue before? I would very appreciate any responses.
    Thank you,

    Hi
You can try these checks on your client's system... looks like some browser issue..
I am assuming you are running on same IE versions on both the systems..
    1. Try to open in some other browser( mozilla or chrome...) and see if it works..
    2. Check this microsoft link also.

  • Why are 16x9 photos from PSE8 not filling screen when exported to PRE8?

I batch cropped a bunch of photos to (JPEG) 16x9 and created a slideshow in PSE8 (about 100 slides, 3.2 sec duration, random pan/zoom, random 1 sec transition). I had to click on each photo "properties" and choose "fit on slide" since it was defaulting to "crop to fit" (which was further cropping my 16x9 photos down to something not desirable).
When I "Output to PSE8" it shows up in the sceneline as not filling the entire space. If I click on this slide show in PRE8 and use the "properties" then "motion" and increase the size of the pictures, they come out blurry. However, if I insert one of the 16x9 photos directly into PRE8, it fills the entire screen and is perfect focused.
PLEASE tell me there is an easier solution than having to create the entire slideshow in PRE8. I really like the random transitions, easy batch duration pan/zoom, control.

Thanks for such a quick response Steve. I will attempt to add more information to help clarify your addtional quesitons
The pan and zoom I am using is the default (very minor- just enough to give the perception of movement).
If I import directly into PRE8 the picture(s) look perfect. It just seems to occur after I port to PRE8
I am not sure what workflow I am following but will be a bit more specific as to the steps I have been taking:
    1. I open the PSE8 workspace and choose "organize" (not edit)
    2. I click on "create" then click on "slideshow"
    3. Next I set my specific defaults (for this project) 3.2 sec interval, 1 second Random transitions, apply pan and zoom to all slides and leave the "crop to fit slide-landscape" checked ( thanks for the tip to uncheck this next time, so I dont have to do it to every slide!!)
    4. I then import my media from "add media" "photos and videos from folders" place the photos in the order i am looking for then save the project.
5.I next click "output" and "edit with Premiere Elements" - which open PRE8
    6. in PRE8 setup I choose the "HDV 1080i 30" configuration.
The slideshow has now ported over to PRE8. The slideshow bundle does not utilize all of the space in the sceneline, hence my problem (black bars top and bottom of screen). Ironically, when I import via get media (directly from PRE8) the same pictures from my computer file (not in the organizer), they fill the entire space in the sceneline (no black bars on top or bottom).  I have this problem regardless of whether or not I am using the pan/zoom or the unchecking of crop to fit slide landscape in PSE8.
I can send a screen print if you think that might help??
I sure hope this helps, all the other video items that are not related to this slideshow are perfect and this is killing me!!
    Thanks, again, Mike

  • Why does 'Guest User' appear in a foreign language when logged in as guest?

Why does 'Guest User' appear in a foreign language when logged in as guest? It's not a major problem but it would be nice to be able to fix it, and to understand how it happened.
Everything else is in English (or set to English) as far as I can see, and my Macbook is only a couple of weeks old. All system updates have been performed and permissions have been repaired.
It displays it in Finnish (Suomi) as 'Vierastilin käyttäjä' only when logged in, in the System Preferencess user list and apple menu (where you would normally select 'Log Out Guest User'). I cant find anyone else with the same problem online. I am in the UK, purchased the Macbook on the UK Apple Store online, and I have never been to Finland or selected anything to do with Finland or its language. Everything else is in English.
I should add that 'Vierastilin' showed up instead of 'Guest User' on the OSX login screen on the first day I had the Macbook, but this seemed to fix itself somehow soon after.
A couple of photos to illustrate the problem that still exists are attached.

Thanks for the reply. I only have English - Primary but I guess I could add Finland and then delete it...
Okay, tried that, lots of variations including deleting all other languages and only using Finnish, and then using only British English etc - when guest is in Finnish the whole lot becomes Finnish/Suomi (see attached photos to compare with the ones above) - then when you delete Finnish and go back to English, everything is Englisg apart from 'Vierastilin käyttäjä' as above.
Any other ideas where it stores that info - is there a dodgy preference file somewhere which needs zapping?

Sometimes my ipod gen 5 display white screen when i choose to see a photo , was it broken ?

    Likely a corrupted photo file:
    Try:
    - Importing the proplem photos to your computer and viewing them
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Backup and then restore from backup. See:

time to time (when I have a chance), I will go to Finder, bring up ALL Images and start going through them to label them (before I put a label on them, they are simply listed as 123 jpg, 124 jpg etc.).
You're damaging the Library doing that, and that's the cause of your problem.
Never, ever, ever use the  All Images search and work on items in yoyr iPhoto Library. They must only be accessed via the iPhoto window.
Restroe from abck up or try rebuild the Library:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. I followed by recommendations from 'Everything Mac': "shut it down by pressing and holding the power button for about 5 seconds.
Then hold down the Option key and press the power button again to start up the Mac mini. Keep holding down the Option key until
    the Mac mini starts up."
But I got a Wi-Fi button only to chose and connect the local network. I connected to my network and I can't use this connection
    becouse no icons.
    Could you please help me?

Your Mini (running 10.6.4) should have come with grey-colored install disks. Now is the time to put them into service. Turn on your computer so that there is power to accept disk #1 into the optical drive. Once  the disk is in the drive, shut off the computer by holding the start button down until it powers off. Then turn it on this time holding down the "C" key to make the computer boot from the disk. The question mark that you saw indicates that the computer cannot find a bootable volume. This can happen due to corrupted system files or an improper shutdown etc. Once you are in the "Installer" you can choose Disk Utility from the Utilities Menu in the menu bar. Use it to repair the disk and to see if that can solve your trouble.
