Why do my Photoshop images show up smaller in Illustrator?

So I created a series of images in PhotoShop. 1000 pixels by 1000 pixels at 300dpi. I saved them as jpgs and opened them up in a new document in Illustrator set to 1000 pixels by 1000 pixels. and placed the jpgs. They came in as 240 pixels and I can't figure out why. I went back to PhotoShop and resaved them as pngs, same thing. I tried saving as tiffs, same thing.
Why is an image in PhotoShop set to 1000 pixels by 1000 pixel at 300 dpi not the same in Illustrator in a new document opened to 1000 pixels by 1000 pixels. I didn't find any help googling my situation. It doesn't make any sense to me. They are the same size. Why does Illustrator shrink them?

Gina,
1000 pixels at 300 PPI is actually only 3 1/3 inch or 240 pixels, and that is what Illy gives you.
To her, pixel is a unit identical to a point and equalling 1/72 inch.
But you may scale to whichever size you like (in this case by a factor 1000/240, you may divide by 0.24 in the Transform palette or scale by 10000/24%).
The total size of the image will remain unchanged (no resampling).
When you scale to 1000 pixels, the resolution will be 17.28 PPI, rather low.
So maybe you need to start out larger.

  • Why wont my Photoshop image show up on my sequence for its full duration?

I am trying to place a PSD into my Sequence.
I cant seem to modify its duration.
Even though I can see it on the timeline, it only shows up for a half a second and then disappears.
    What am I doing wrong?
The manual is useless in answering this very basic question.

You can change the duration in the browser or dbl-click it into the viewer and change it in the top left TC window.
As a .psd, you might need to option-click, so it doesn't 'un-nest' the .psd (not sure, since I've not worked with any .psd's for quite awhile)

  • Why is there a box around my Photoshop image showing in my InDesign file when I print?

I created a brochure in InDesign, in which I have imported two Photoshop images of buses that I had previously clipped in Photoshop. The file looks fine in InDesign and even when I export as a PDF, but when I print the PDF I can see a box surrounding one of my clipped buses. How do I fix this issue?
    InDesign File:
    PDF File:
    Printed:

You will always see it on a laser printer, not on offset. Doesn't matter if you print from InDesign directly or from any exported PDF.
    What I do:
I do the transparency as you did in Photoshop
I add a path around everything which has no transparency (Opacity ≠ 0). This path will surround also the smooth transition from the object to the transparent area.
I define this path as clipping path.
I place the image with this clipping path into InDesign. I select the clipping path.
I convert the clipping path into the image frame (right mouse click context menu.)
The image will go smooth to the background but for the laser printer it will cut away the part which will cause the YDB syndrome. So the image will fit for both, laser and offset.

  • Why are my slideshow images showing as low res?

I'm creating a site that will show a housing development in the works, and with each lot number that's clicked on the home page, the link goes to a page with a slideshow (My Albums) and when that is clicked you're taken to a new page with separate slideshow.
    I've got two questions:
    1. Why do the images show up as low res on the My Albums page, but are the preferred higher res on the slideshow page?
    2. I'd like to just have a slideshow on the first page without having to click on the image to link to a whole other page for the slideshow. The confusing part is, while working in iWeb, the slideshow does exactly what I'd like it to do, but when published I get the ghastly low res images and I have to click on that to get to the "real" slideshow! Is there a setting I'm missing?

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? Do you have iWeb's preferences set to optimize images when imported?
To get rid of the album page and leave the photo pages just move the photo pages out of the album page.

  • Why doesn't my image show up when i attach it to an email?

ok, i have a jpeg i want to email.  i click on attach and the drop down comes up, i navigate to the image i want and highlight.  at this point--always in the past up until last week--a thumbnail of the image shows up in the column to the right of the name of the image, so i can make sure i'm sending the right image.  suddenly, i'm no longer seeing the image to the right. (see attached)
i fear this may be  more a mac query than a PS one, but you folks are so knowledgable i thought i'd start here.  any thoughts?
    thank you!

see attached for File Handling settings.  see any problems there?

  • Why are my Photoshop images interlaced?

Is that just an effect FCP throws into to make the progressive frames look like the rest of your footage, or is FCP actually interlacing my Photoshop files? I can run some tests and figure it out but if someone has a quick answer, it'd be much appreciated!

    I was referring to:
"Spend some time learning what interlace means. Search it in the FCP manual, it's very good at that sort of thing.
Interlace is a very good thing - unless it's used poorly - which happens when it's misunderstood. It allows us to have very clean NTSC and PAL images with smooth movement, in very limited bandwidth."
But I'll readily admit that meaning can get misconstrued by text very easily, so no offense taken here, nor there apparently.
My initial problem was solved, but I've encountered a new one as a result.
What I'd like to is take the 1080i footage I have (six DVD set) and create a progressive video of half that size for the web (just a five minute promo). It's a bit smaller than half the source, and some scenes are cropped differently due to different needs for televisions and computer screens. I have an excellent video already working, but there are some improvements I would like to make (if it's possible).
I have two sources for the content in my video. One is the HDV camera (1080i), and the other source is the computer (Motion files, JPEGs, etc). Apart from the dissolve between the scenes, at no point is there a combination of these two sources within a frame. The scenes are neatly separated (each scene is a nested sequence).
What I want to do is deinterlace the camera footage. If I understand correctly, FCP's deinterlace filter is a line-doubler, halving the resolution but maintaining the temporal information. Because my output is half the dimensions of the source (give or take), this works perfectly for me because I'm losing that resolution anyway. Meanwhile, the scenes comprised of assets from Photoshop and the like are rendered at full resolution. To achieve this, I would think I'd deinterlace the sequences with interlaced footage, then nest the sequence in a new sequence which is smaller and without field dominance. Then, by nesting the sequences with non-interlaced assets, they are rendered at full resolution while the interlaced footage is rendered progressively because the parent sequence has been deinterlaced.
What's happening is that I MUST keep field dominance turned on in the downscaled sequence or the camera footage displays weird effects (like interlacing, but with alternating large sets of pixels rather than single pixel lines). This in turn interlaces the scenes with the computer assets, requiring me to deinterlace them as well, halving the resolution unnecessarily.
The only guess I have as to why this happens is that the deinterlace filter is being carried over to the downscaled sequence rather than already deinterlaced footage.
So, having said all that, the simple version of the question is:
How do you create a progressive video for the web from a larger interlaced version WITHOUT interlacing and then deinterlacing the portions of the video which weren't interlaced to begin with? Is it impossible to do this within a single sequence, and if so how do I combine multiple exported sequences into a single video for the web? Unfortunately I need to be able to cross dissolve from each scene to the next, so can I do that using Quicktime Pro, Compressor, or some other program?
I would show you the footage but I can't be putting links up to it on the Internet right now (not my choice).
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer and sorry we got off to a bad start.

Why is the font size for the Photoshop Cloud navigation menus and tools displaying extremely small on my laptop? I can barely see them. The other Adobe Cloud applications don't display small.

Is a readable interface an unreasonable expectation?
Not at all, and we should well expect that Adobe is working on it.  By their own admission they ARE working on it.  I don't sense "deafening silence" at all.  But results won't/can't be instantaneous and they're not going to promise you release dates.  Life is not like that, no matter how many times you click your red shoes together.
It's not hard to understand that right now only a small minority of Photoshop users are running high dpi screens that can't take advantage of the 200% setting.  And it was the choice of those users to buy such hardware even in light of the fact that Photoshop can't work fully well on it yet.  Adobe didn't force anyone to buy a 150 ppi display.
Frankly, if you've chosen such hardware even though Photoshop doesn't offer 150% scaling, it's your own fault.  I recently invested well over $1000 in a new monitor and I planned well enough ahead to buy a 100ppi model (Dell U3014, and it's GREAT).  There's a reason that very new technology is called "bleeding edge".  If you want "To Work" instead of "Dealing With Quirks", sometimes you have to be conservative.
A majority of Photoshop users DO expect new and useful features, however, such as new tools, new camera support in Camera Raw, etc., so Adobe understandably cannot dedicate every resource they have to revamping Photoshop's user interface just for a special few folks who have irresponsibly adopted new display technology.
We can debate all day how much Adobe ought to be spending on engineering development, but you and I don't run the company.  We don't make business decisions for them.  I do, however, claim to understand their capabilities and limitations - possibly better than most - because I'm in the same business.
I can only recommend you be patient.  One day Photoshop will respond to your desktop settings.
What the heck has anybody ever accomplished here, with Adobe, in either fashion?
Rhetorical or not, some quite tangible things do come to mind...
At one time I couldn’t paste my clipboard containing a grayscale image into a new document via an action assigned to a key; the color engine would crash.  Today I can do so without incident.
At one time multiple Help windows would pop up unexpectedly, often when working in the Styles panel.  Today they don’t.
At one time I had to select Basic GPU mode.  Today I use Advanced GPU mode without a problem.
Once running Liquify or Smart Sharpen or a number of other things were slow, especially on big images.  Now they're quite fast, with GPU acceleration.
At one time an action could not write data back to a document when in windowed mode.  Today it works.
At one time panorama stitching and focus stacking did not work.  Now it works.
At one time most filters only worked on 8 bits/channel data.  Now many of them can handle 16 bits/channel.
Once naysayers predicted that the Photoshop Photography bundle would shoot up in price.  Yet today it's still $9.99 a month.
Once it was impossible to read Photoshop's UI on a 200+ ppi screen.  Now there's a new 200% setting for that.
I'm sure I can think of other things.  And of course the software isn't perfect today.  It never will be absolutely perfect.
Station_two, are you keeping up with the latest Photoshop releases?  If not, I submit that your rhetoric may be falling out of date.

  • Why doesn't my image show up in itunes?

The image in my podcast does not show up in the iTunes Music Store. Here's the file:
    http://www.zipzeta.com/podcasts/zipzeta_podcasts.xml
    The image I'm using is:
    http://www.zipzeta.com/images/zzvitunesimg.jpg
      Windows XP

Oops, I went back a second time in the Music Store
search and I saw it when I searched 'zipzeta' like
you mentioned. However when I clicked on the image
and was taken to the profile page I still had the
default Apple Itunes Podcast image with the dark
    figure and purple ringed background.
I can confirm this, and I can't see why this should be. My own podcast has the same image tag as yours, and appears correctly: I can't see anything wrong with your page. Perhaps it's some sort of hiccup in the iTunes Store - it might sort itself out eventually - how long has this been the case?

  • Why does my Photoshop file have a smaller file size when closed?

My client wants a high res file 1 MB or higher. My Photoshop file (CS4) is 5 MB when I open it in Photoshop (4.5 inches square and 300 dpi)- when I look under Image size. But when I close file it says "875 KB" in my hard drive folder. What am I doing wrong? Client won't accept file until it reads as 1 MB when I email to her as an attachment.

You must have done more then close it. You must have saved over the 5MB file using a lower quality setting so the encoded jpeg image was compress more and you lost some image quality.
Also 4.5x4.5 @ 300 DPI is 1350px by 1350 Px.  I just create two jpeg file for two document that size saving at quality 10. One image was a blank white background it save size was 65KB the other document was a spectrum gradient with a lot of noise added its save size was 3.5MB.  Image content is also very important.  Little detail little file size great detail larger file size.

  • Photoshop images showing as sepia in lightroom help me please

hi i'm working on black and white medium format images i've cropped and added text in photoshop cc but when i import to lightroom they have a sepia tone can anyone help with this thank you

You have not provided any system info or other details like what image files, so no, nobody can really help you. The blanket answer would be that you are not using color management, but that's pretty much all. Ask in the LR/ PS forums and provide the required details.

  • Why isn't Photoshop CC showing up in my Application Manager?

I have Photoshop CS6 installed on my computer and have downloaded all updates, but there is not an option to download Photoshop CC.  Is there something I am missing?  I was under the impression that I could run both CS6 and CC on my computer.  I would rather not delete CS6 unless I have to in order to download CC.
It is 10:17pm cst on the 17th, so I assume that CC is out now.  It appears that others are able to download it, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.  The only Photoshop application that shows up in AAM is CS6 (up to date).
    Help?

Please Quit your Adobe Application Manager and re-launch it. It will update itself to the new Creative Cloud application and then you will see the CC apps for download. Install the all new CC apps and check if that works fine.
