Why do my Safari bookmarks appear to all accounts?

Since installing Mountain Lion, all bookmarks in my Safari bookmarks bar now appear in each of the other account user Safari bookmark bars - and theirs appear in mine! ***? If I delete a bookmark of mine in my Daughters account, it deletes it in mine. This isn't good, surely!? Can I stop this from happening? Thanks for any help, y'all.

I've unchecked Safari in System Prefs/iCloud in both my account and the other user accounts
I have reset all Safaris.
My bar is still showing up in the other Safaris.
None of the other users have iCloud accounts, only me (the administrator)
Am I being a dope?

Can someone let me know how to sync my Iphone Safari Bookmarks to my iCloud account or to my Windows7 laptop. Have been tring since long time in several ways, but couldnt find any source or a way to do it. And moreover my notes in Ihone are not getting synced with the iCloud. The remaining contacts, mails and calenders have no sync issues. All I have problem is with the bookmarks and notes.

Why don't my bookmarks appear when I click on Bookmarks? Instead I have click on a half a dozen items, menu's, etc.

This is ridiculous. The INTENT of having "Bookmarks" is to have them easily accessible. Why do we have to click a half dozen menu's just to see the bookmarks? Should click "Bookmarks" and bookmarks appear.
When you bookmark a Book, you go RIGHT to the page you want. You don't have to go to the library index, find what book, what author, how often you use this book, table of contents, find what chapter, find what page, etc.
This is ridiculous. I'm going to use another browser.

In what bookmarks folder are the bookmarks located that you try to search?
You can click the "Show your bookmarks" button that is positioned next to the star on the location/address bar to get a drop-down list with the bookmarks.
Only bookmarks that were created by clicking the star once and that haven't been moved out of the Unsorted folder can't be reached directly.
You can also open the bookmarks sidebar via that drop-down list or use the Ctrl+B shortcut to have the sidebar where you can use its search bar to find a bookmark.
For easiest access you can move a bookmark the the Bookmarks Toolbar folder and have the Bookmarks Toolbar visible.

TS4001 How can I share Safari bookmarks between two iCloud accounts using IOS 7 and Mavericks?

Before iOS 7 and Mavericks, we were able to share Safari bookmarks between all of our devices. My wife had the primary iCloud account which was setup to share bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders. A secondary iCloud account was setup on my phone for only my email. Each phone had our private email accounts segregated and we shared all the bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders. When I saved a bookmark on my phone, I could see it later on our iMac or iPad. Now only my wife can sync bookmarks between her phone and the iMac or iPad. This *****!! This worked beautifully before we upgraded to the latest versions of OS & iOS. Is there a work around or a new way to set things up? I don't want to be stuck reading Safari on my phone when I have a 24" iMac sitting in the living room. I don't want to see all of my wife's email on my phone either. Do we need three iCloud accounts now? One main for sharing and two separate accounts for only email? Need help! Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the reply. That's how I set it up originally. Although the new iOS 7 update lost some functionality. I found the following on the TUAW website. The Safari Bookmarks and Find My Phone options have been removed from the secondary iCloud accounts options. This is the problem. Everything worked great before we updated. I guess "new way" consolidates the iCloud accounts better with Maverick? Now I will have extra documents on my phone that I don't need. We will both have to share the same iCloud storage and backup space too. Have to try it out and see how it works. Thanks.

Why are my Safari bookmarks multiplying?

When I open up my Bookmarks lists in Safari, I see now they have started multiplying, invariably with more of the same ones that I already have. Why is this, I only want one of each bookmarked website, not more than one? Running Lion 10.7.5 with safari 6.0.2 on both my Macbook Pro and iMac.

Why are my safari bookmarks still present after a fresh install?

I've just done a fresh install of osx to clean things up a little and I've just noticed that my bookmarks in safari are still saved.Is there a way of doing a fresh install with ALL of my personal data erased?
I believe I did it correctly by rebooting with "cmd" and "r" pressed,then erasing my hard drive with disk utility and then reinstalling OSX.

If you’re given the option to do so, don’t give the computer your iCloud account information or uncheck the box for Safari. If desired, you can later sign out of iCloud or turn the option off from the iCloud pane of System Preferences.

How to make bookmarks appear in all user accounts w/out importing and exporting everytime.

Hello, all. I'm imaging a couple of laptops to be sent out. I want the bookmarks on the admin user account to be applied to the network domain user accounts or roaming profile is you will. Is there a way to this without have to import/export?

I am trying to do the same thing. I also cant get it to work. I am
thinking it may have something to do with the concept of ScopedResponse, but
I am not sure. There is very little documentation and more importantly
examples of how to make sense of the getOuterResponse() method. Dev2Dev and
Google are of no help.
Anyone care to explain this to us?

Why does new Safari screen appear almost every day?

Almost every day, I get a screen welcoming me to Safari, as if I had never used Safari before. This has been going on for about a week. In each case, I reset the settings, but the next day a new "Welcome" screen appears.

This happened to me, and I started paying really close attention to what I was doing . . .. I found that, being used to a wired Apple mouse, I got into the habit of tapping on the top of the mouse while waiting for the page to change. This sets off Zoom on the Magic Mouse.
So see if that's what's happening with you. I have to really watch it. I've gotten much better at not subconsciously tapping on the top, but it still happens every once in a great while. Otherwise, I love the Magic Mouse.
EDIT: If this is what's happening with you, you can undo it by tapping again on the top of the mouse. It's like a toggle.

Why do iCloud songs not appear on all devices?

I have several devices using Match and most of my 5,000 songs appear to be "in the cloud" on most of my machines but on the machine that was used to upload the songs, only a few (less than 1,000) have any cloud designation at all.
Longer version:
Have an iPhone, iPad and two MacBooks. Three months ago, I subscribed to Match and spend quite a while getting most of my tunes into the cloud. For reasons I won't go into, I changed accounts on the MacBook that is actually connected to the hard drive where the tunes reside. After waiting three months to switch back, I now have all my machines on the same account but the one with the changed account only indicates that a few of my tunes are in the cloud. I have the cloud icon indicator turned on yet most of the tunes have no icon by them. (The same songs on the other machines have the "download from cloud" icon and they indicate that there are 5,000 tunes available through Match.
I have logged out and back in several times, rebooted and also used the "Update iTunes Match" several times.
Any suggestions?

I think that iTunes is getting confused along with you.
Here's what I would do:
Try to get back to having just one, empty iTunes library. You could do this by creating a new one from scratch, or by deleting all content from one of your existing ones (obviously keeping the files and not deleting from iCloud). I'd also turn iTunes match off for the moment.
Then plug in your HDD and add all the music to iTunes by using file / add to library and then selecting the location of your library.
Once you are happy that the music is all back in your library switch match back on. It will run through the match process again but shouldn't match or upload anything and you should be good to go.
I will just say though that I may have misinterpreted exactly what you are trying to do, and what has happened, so just give it some thought before going ahead, in case I've got it wrong.

How can I import old Safari bookmarks from a cache

I had a bit of data disaster when upgrading to Snow Leopard from Tiger. Lost my home directory, and now lost the backup too aaaaahhh.
An older backup has what looks like Safari bookmarks in /library/caches/metadata/safari/bookmarks
The files all end with a ".webbookmark" suffix
when opened in TextWrangler they appear as below:

You could try pasting them into the current Bookmarks.plist and save with Textwrangler. Not sure if it will work but that may be all you can do. Run plutil after to check for errors via terminal. Relaunch Safari.

I have 2 user accounts on my MacBook and 1 iCloud account set up.
Safari bookmarks sync well with my iPad through iCloud.
Safari bookmarks appear under both of the accounts on my MacBook, which I do not want. I want them to appear only under only one of my accounts on the MacBook.
How do I do this?

There's really nothing you can do now. The big mistake was not defining a passcode for the device, hence the thief has access to all data. he should not have access to icloud, since you changed the password for the icloud ID.
If you decide to define a new icloud account (a new ID, but keep the old ID for itunes store account, otherwise you lose your apps and music purchased using the old ID), be sure to first go into the current account and delete all data.

Safari bookmarks: where to find in Time Machine?

All of a sudden, my Safari bookmarks look weird: all bookmarks seem to be there, but all Folders, in which they had been gathered over the past years, are empty. In other words, I think I lost all the structure that the bookmarks had.
How can I find the old structure in Time Machine?
A related question: In Safari>Bookmarks I have on the left side two Headings: COLLECTIONS and BOOKMARKS. Under COLLECTIONS I find: History, Bookmarks Bar, Bookmarks Menu. Under BOOKMARKS I have, as mentioned above, hundreds of individual bookmarks. What is the differeance between Bookmarks Menu and the Bookmarks? (I understand the funtion of the Bookmarks Bar).
I'd appreciate any pointers/solutions/help. Thanks in advance

Quit Safari. Disable bookmark synchronization, if applicable.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar. Copy the following line into the text box that opens, then press return:
~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the Finder window open. Relaunch Safari. Select File ▹ Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Test. If Safari now performs normally, you can delete the old bookmarks file and you're done.
Otherwise, quit Safari again and enter Time Machine. Scroll back to the last snapshot taken before the problem started. Restore the bookmarks file.

How do I edit iPad Safari bookmarks?

When I set up my iPad almost 3 years ago, I simply pulled my existing Safari bookmarks, junk and all, on to my iPad. Now I want and need to clean up and reorganize those bookmarks, and I can't see how to move existing items to new folders, or to execute other moves that would move items through a hierarchy.
I've been having severe Safari crashes for more than a year, and I would like to prune bookmarks to see if this would help.

Tap the bookmarks icon and then tap Edit in the upper right corner of the bookmarks window. You can move them up and down by dragging them using the 3 horizontal ones next to the bookmarks. You can also delete bookmarks by swiping across them to bring up the red delete button.
After you tap the Edit button you should also see a New Folder Button at the top of the bookmarks window.

IPad - Erase all Content, but Safari bookmarks are still there?!?! Why?

I want to erase everything on my iPad and start all over. When going through the setup, I tell it to set up as a new device (not restore from iTunes/iCloud). Most things are gone (apps, etc.) but my Safari bookmarks are still there?!?!?! Am I doing something wrong?

You mostly likely signed into your icloud account after you restored your phone. Your bookmarks are stored on icloud and thats why there are there, because you signed into your icloud account.
