Why do my slides project with a longer vertical ratio?

I'm using Keynote '08 and an Epson EMP-S4 projector. Every time I project a Keynote slide the ratio is longer in the vertical making the slide look stretched. Is there a setting that I'm missing in Keynote that will correct this?

When the polarizer in your glasses is parallel to the polarizer in the display, you see well. When they are at right angles, the light from the display is nearly extinguished. The polarizer in your glasses is set to darken the sky and reduce glare. The manufacturers of displays know which way your glasses are oriented in normal use and seek to match that orientation in their devices to maximize brightness. If you turn the device 90 degrees from normal, you have thwarted their attempts. If your device has two normal orientations..., well, that's the problem you are encountering.

Can't create projects with loops longer than 1 second

This is weird - In garage band, if I try to drag and drop one of Apple's pre-made loops into a new project and that loop is any longer than one second I will get the following error message:
Result Code = -5000
File = GarageBand-Temp-21B25E84.tmp
(the temp file name, of course, changes each time)
I have used GarageBand for years with no problem. I have upgraded to Lion a couple months ago. However, I have also upgraded GarageBand. Currently running version 6.0.4 (427.84).
Very frustrating. Anybody have any ideas how to resolve?

Finally called Apple and got it figured out
1. Went to a new user and tried creating a GarageBand song there. That worked so isolated that it was some kind of problem with the user account
2. Went back to user library and looked at Preferences again. Threw out all of the following (which I had done previously)
com.apple.garageband.cs
com.apple.garageband.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.garageband.LSSharedFileList.plist.lockfile
com.apple.garageband.plist
com.apple.garageband.plist.lockfile
Also threw out (which I had not done previously)
com.apple.iApps.plist
com.apple.iApps.plist.lockfile
In the process found a bunch of other files that Apple thinks were created in error during upgrade. All started with com.apple.iApps.plist.xxxxxxx (X's represent random alpha numeric sequences). Threw those all out
3. Also, in user library, went to Caches and threw away com.apple.garageband.
4. Restarted computer
Problem solved.

Why does my slide show with music crash back to the album on Retina display?

I really enjoy making slide shows that have music on iphotonand have done it for years. Suddenly after working with slide shows and music on my new Mac Book Pro 15" with retina display the slide show crashes back to the album display after the first slide. The title comes up, the music starts the first slide comes up and then it just stops and goes back to the album display. Everything was working fine until Sunday when I installed the new Iphoto.

Ok, people. No one helped me on this one, I figured it out by myself. There is a new section in Iphoto called "slideshows" and if you move the album from which you want to make a slideshow there the slideshow and music work perfectly together with the benefit that now you and store different music with each slide show that I hadn't been able to do before.
Mystery solved.

Publishing a project with Quiz slides in it

I am using Captivate 2. My project contains 6 quiz slides at
the end of the project. When I publish this project, and then view
the output, the whole project goes straight from slide 1 to the
last slide!!! If I remove the quiz slides and then publish, things
work fine. Has anyone faced this problem? Why am I unable to
publish and view projects with Quiz slides in it? I publish my
projects in the Exe mode.

This issue seems to have a familiar ring to it. Echoes from a
year or more back. I'm thinking that you may need to think about
upgrading the version of the Flash player used to present your
Captivate. First, check to see which version is installed. That's
easy enough to do. Just right-click the Captivate as it is playing
and check the version. Then try visiting the Adobe site and
upgrading. See if that solves the issue.

I had completed my iDVD project and burned a disc. It worked great! Then someone messed with the project and put a red frame around the opening screen. Now when I burn the project, it no longer has the opening frame. How can I fix?

I had completed my iDVD project, a Wedding Slideshow with pictures and music, and burned it on a disc. It worked great! Then someone messed with the original project on my computer and clicked around and put a red frame around the opening screen that has the Wedding theme with music. Now when I burn the project to make more DVDs, it burns but no longer has the opening frame. It immediately opens to the iMovie slideshow. How can I fix so I can burn the entire project with opening frames?

As Bengt suggested make a disk image of the successfully burned DVD using Disk Utility. Then you can burn copies any time you need one.
In the future once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
You can then burn it to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

I've been trying to share a completed iMovie project with iDVD. iMovie keeps quitting unexpectedly. Why does it keep crashing?

Click on the button near the top of the window where it says Project Library (it toggles between Library and edit Project).
Click just once on the name of the project, so that it highlights in blue.
Go to File Menu > Duplicate Project. There will now be a second project with the same name, but with a number added to the end of the name
Open that duplicated project by double-clicking it

I movie quits unexpectedly during editing and publishing
from Jasonryan1. It relates to a corrupted item existing in his project. And in his attempt to troubleshoot it, he suspected it was a Title he placed in the Project itself. Once he deleted the corrupted Title he was able to successfully export it. As to which item is causing instability, that's a tricky process to narrow down. And I would agree it seems unlikely all your projects could have some corrupted element in them. But it might work to concentrate on the simplest project which is showing the symptoms you describe. Duplicate that project and start deleting pieces of it and trying to add a Title to it and see if iMovie crashes. And that's not to say it's a title, it could just as easily be a picture, a transtion or a music clip that's preventing that project from being exported.

That Photoshop Elements 9.0.3 Update has generally been discouraged by the Photoshop Elements gurus. But, I am not going to factor that into this at this point.
This is what I would ask you to look at in the Elements Organizer 9 accessed from the Photoshop Elements 9 or Premiere Elements 9.
a. Create your slideshow in the Elements Organizer 9/Create/Slideshow/Slideshow Editor. Then use the Output option of Edit with Premiere Elements.
From your description, you are probably using the Output Option of Burn to Disc DVD which will take your slideshow directly in the Disc Menu section of Premiere Elements 9. The preferred transfer of the Elements Organizer 9 slideshow to Premiere Elements 9 Editor is by the non wmv route "Edit with Premiere Elements" not the wmv route of Burn to Disc DVD.
Let us explore if any of the above is involved in your issue and then we will decide what next if necessary.

they aren't able to be exported as an entire bin folder ready for importing into another if needed.
Oh, but they are! You can select multiple titles, or even a bin containing multiple titles, and use the same File > Export > Title command. Premiere Pro will ask you where you want to save the first (and change the name, but it will default to the name given in the project), and then will automatically export all selected titles without further user intervention. You can import them en masse or in a folder (to create a bin automatically) into another project.

Cp 8 - How to add ppt slides to an existing project with space to the left and right ?

After much trial and error, i know exactly what I want. The priority for me is clear and unscaled captured video, and my project resolution shall be 1260x700.
now, i want to bring my ppt slides in and respect the aspect ratio- this means that there will be blank space to the left and right of the slides. The active area of the ppt slide should be about 700 h and 4/3 * 700 width. To avoid scaling, i would love them to be 699 x 932 and have the areas to the left and right blank. i am also willing to make my project 1260x702.
The objective here is to avoid scaling. I have seen that things look great when scaling is avoided.

Using the Netbeans GUI within a Project with existing Ant Script

I cannot seem to figure out how to use the Netbeans GUI in my Project with existing Ant Script. Is this possible? I have no problem creating GUI interfaces in a java Application, but attempting to make a new JFrame Form gives the error: package org.jdesktop.layout does not exist, and I have not been able to find a way around this. Doc Project with format confusion- need advice

I have a documentary project with a plethora of footage formats because the doc spans a long length of time and different project collaborators. We just shot more footage and I don't want to move forward converting the new footage until I know the best path to take form here on out. please advise.
Here is the info.
Below i'm listing the descritption of footage, the format, and the % I'm predicting it will be used in the final edit of the documentary I'm working on.
Archival Footage: DV NTSC 720x480 (10%)
Original footage shot: DV NTSC 720x480 anamorphic (40%)
Additional Footage shot in Summer 2010 with Panasonic HVX200: DVCPRO HD 720p60 29.97 (35% shared with canon 7D footage listed below)
Additional Footage shot in Summer 2010 with Canon 7D: shot 1920x1080 23.98 Apple Pro Res 422, pixel aspect square. I converted this footage to 720p60 29.97 to match the Panasonic footage but I still have the original files saved. (35% shared with hvx200 footage listed above)
New Footage shot with Canon 7D: 1920x1080 23.98 Apple Pro Res 422, pixel aspect square (15%)
Timelines:
- I edit the SD footage in timelines with SD sequence settings matching the format of the footage
- I edit the HD footage in timelines with DVCPRO HD sequence settings matching the format of the footage
- when footage of both formats ends up in one 'scene' the timeline is DV NTSC 720x480
- when I output a rough cut, I nested sequences and output DV NTSC 720x480
I have not converted the new footage yet and before I do convert it and then transform continue editing, I feel I need to re-evauluate how I'm approaching the multi-format situation. I need advice about the best path to take from here on out. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
Should I upconvert the SD footage and do everything HD from now on? The final cut will probably be 50% SD and 50% HD with possibly more HD than SD.
If I do upconvert and go HD, is 720p60 29.97 the best format for me to use considering my footage sources? If you have any ideas, please also explain how you might go about carrying them out.

That's not a final decision at all, that's a series of delivery options. You must produce your project in the highest resolution for which you have space, codecs and techniucal competency.You will save that as the "final" but I'd not call it that since nothing is ever finalized. Jsut keep naming the versions. Then you will open the full rez version and use any of several conversion or compresiona apps to satisfy all other distribution needs.
The omst flexible will be a 1080/60 format but that decision will cost you tons of conversion time, lots of space, and will require many stylistic decisions along the way.
That's what I would do but I'm not you and I'm not your client.

Slide/project won't pause on return to slide

I'm using Captivate 5 and have the following workflow set up:
I have a slide that explains a concept. The slide features a button I created with the button widget. The name of this button is Show Me. When the user clicks it, they are taken to a slide that plays an animation as a demonstration for the concept on the previous slide. When this slide displays, the slide/project seems to pause to let the animation play through (and the animation is set to loop, so it will keep playing as long as the user is on the slide). On the animation slide there is another button, also created with the button widget, that is named Go Back and takes them back to the slide they came from.
The problem is after I click Go Back, if I click the Show Me button again, I will return to the animation slide, but the project/slide does not pause this time. The animation plays for a number of seconds and then the project advances to the next slide without any interaction from the user.
I've tried adding pause widgets, and click boxes, to force a pause in the project, but nothing seems to work. When the user revisits the animation slide, it quickly goes to the next slide regardless.

I am part of a small group of developers who wish to work on a single flex project together. Is there a way to set up flex so that the project can be developed by multiple people at the same time. I have seen one thread out on the internet about working locally and then uploading to SVn but this is not an option in this case.
Any ideas.

I would say that rushing into development without a source-control system will cost you more in the long-run. If your organisation is serious about developing software it then it needs to invest in the necesary infrastructure, so you should get that process kicked-off as soon as possible.
In the interim you could set-up a source control server on one developer's machine or commandeer a spare machine to use as a temporary source control server. Just make sure you have it backed-up regularly. Or you could use one of the online source control services; many will support private repositories for a small fee.

I'm trying to share to Media Browser a 20 minute still slide show with music and text. I have tried several times to save at 1080 HD, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying "File already open with write permission." What's this mean?

I'd like to finalize it 1080 hd and have tried several times, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying it can't be done because "File already open with with write permission." What does this mean? All files are closed; this iMovie project is the only thing open. Does it mean one of the song files from iTunes? And should I just settle for saving it as a "large" file, which is what I'm trying right now?

This issue occours only on MacOs machines using 10.7x
try switching-off the Local Mobile Backup
in Terminal copy/paste
sudo tmutil disablelocal
