They are not text messages, they are iMessages.
Turn on iMessage on the iPhone.

Go to settings > Messages and then "Send & Receive". It will list the phone numbers/email addresses that the phone will respond to .
Check and/or uncheck the appropriate items.

Under Settings > Messages > Receive At... (on your iPhone), is your Apple ID email address listed?

How do I DISABLE text message forwarding between my iPad and iPhone?

I want to DISABLE text forwarding from my iPhone 5 (IOS 8.1.1) to my IPad 4 (IOS 8.1.1) but....I have already tried the following (so PLEASE do not make these suggestions):
I want to be able to text from my iPhone and those text messages (either SMS or iMessage) NOT go to my iPad. BUT, I want to also text from my iPad and those messages NOT go to my iPhone. I want the text messages to stay on each device independently.
Since I still want to be able to text from my iPad, I do NOT want to turn off iMessage. If I turn off iMessage, I cannot text from my iPad.
I disabled HANDOFF
I disabled TEXT MESSAGE FORWARDING (from my iPhone)
Creating a new Apple ID is not an option since there is other data that I need between devices.
Having followed these steps, I still cannot stop the texts from forwarding between devices. Any ideas?

On your iPad, can you deselect your phone number as an option in Settings>Messages>Send and Receive at and then add an email address at which you can be reached? My iPod Touch is set up to use an email address (I have 6 email accounts) and the messages on my iPod do not sync with my other devices.
I Do have to say that it has been ages since I set up the Touch for Messages, but I am running iOS 8 on it. I can't remember if I had to sign out of messages and start all over again on the touch in order to deselect the iPhone number.

I can not text individuals who do not have iPhones or IPads from my iPad.

You can also send to iPod Touches or Macs.
If one does have an iPhone it can be used in conjunction with an iPad, iPod Touch or Mac to send SMS/MMS messages to non-Apple devices.

Why is my new music staying on my iPad and not going into my iCloud even though I have it set up to do so?

I have gone through all the tutorials to get iCloud to back up my music for iTunes, but it still shows I have 5.0GB available (even though I have purchased more), and when I go to "backup" it acts like it's going to do it, but doesn't. iCloud doesn't back up your music as part of your iCloud backup. iCloud only includes music in two ways. First, it allows you to redownload previously purchased music for free from iTunes (called "iTunes in the cloud"). Second, if you subscribe to iTunes Match on your computer, you iTunes library (up to 25,000 songs) will be available to download and play on your device anywhere you have a connection to the internet ( see http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/).

Make sure your black phone is using the same or higher version of iOS as your white one, and that it is signed into the same iCloud account.

I called my wife and she said that under "send and receive", my number was checked and hers wasn't and no amount of tapping on her number would check it. Also, when she uncheck mine and all the email addresses, there was no more "send and receive" window. Now what?

When a text message fails initially why isn't there a setting that the text will 'automatically' rollover to SMS instead of wasting time coming up with 3 options at the bottom of the screen, including sending as SMS?

One associated question. When a text is sent SMS is it solely routed through the carrier's (in this instance Verizon) equipment an lines and when sent as an iMessage is it routed/handled somehow significantly differently other than not charging the apple customer(s)?
Yes, SMS is solely routed through the carrier's SMS system (does not require a data connection). iMessages are sent by either the carrier's data service or by WiFi to Apple's iMessage servers. Overall, SMS is more reliable. SMSs will go through when even voice calls may not. They can also be sent and received by "dumb" phones. But, they can't be sent/received by devices without cellular voice service. iMessages can be sent/received by iPads, iPod Touches, Mac computers. If the iMessages are sent or received using cellular data, they are charged against the user's data allowance.

It's called iMessage, new in iOS 5.0...these messages are going as iMessages, and as designed, they appear on all of your iOS devices(your Apple ID on your daughter's phone). Either turn iMessage off on your daughter's phone or get her her own Apple ID & wipe her phone & then setup it up again using her own Apple ID. Your daughter having her own Apple ID is recommended if you want to fully take advantage of iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, etc. She can still use your iTunes account.
