Why do my TOC subentry titles jump to the left margin?

As I select lower-level TOC entries (books and/or pages), the title jumps to the left margin (that is, the pane scrolls right). This renders all the surrounding entries illegible.
In the attached outdent_toc.gif, note the location of the "Add-on..." page entry, which is actually a 5th-level TOC entry, as shown in the margin_toc.gif picture, which is the result of scrolling back to the left.
This is a regression from RH X5.

I can only think either it is an upgrade thing (I'll look later) or something else in your project. This TOC is from a RH8 created project and, as you can see, it remains firmly left aligned. The end text of Book Four does not get kicked out to the left.
I did note you are not showing the default books. Relevant?

I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and it works fine. But when I
paste long tekst (lyrics for an artist) the pages makes a small
"jump" to the left just a 4 - 5 mm. I use centered tables. Does
anyone have a solution to this problem?

Curser Jumping to the Left

Yesterday when I went to use my computer I noticed that the curser was not following the movements that I wanted it to. In fact it kept going to the very right edge of the screen and would be clicking try to close windows and select anything on the right side. I couldn't even get the curser over to the Left side of the screen. I tried cleaning the screen, no results. I tried cleaning my mouse, no results. I tried changing the batteries of my mouse, nothing. I tried switich so that I clicked the right side of the mouse instead of the left, nada. I reinstalled the driver and restarted, sucess (or so I thought). I try to use my computer again today, mouse is jumping, same thing as yesturday but worse. I can't keep anything open to read any information on how to help me. I re-reinstall the driver and restart, yeah...no. I try to reboot, not able to because my mouse is jumping so much I can't get to the controll panal. I try rebooting manually, I didn't do it right because the screen where I can open is safe mode isn't coming up. The mouse is still jumping so heck, let's restart her again. I log in and suddenly everything is quiet, the mouse isn't jumping it's following my commands, it's behaved long enough for me to register for the forum and write about this god-forsaken problem. If you have any information of how to get this to stop I would really appreciate it. I have a lot of faith that this problem will reoccur when I sign in tomorrow. I am running a virus scan now just in case, but do not have the results from this yet. And no, I have not downloaded any new software recently. Thanks, hope you can help

Boy did I try some new and exciting things on my Envy 23 last night. I did a long lovely hard drive test that solved none of my problems. Then I finally figured out how to restore my computer to a point where the mouse was not torturing me. Following the restore I thought my problem was solved, after all restore solves everything right.
Well I'm writing this so obviously we now know better. After fighting with my curser for 15 min I have managed to turn on HP support assistant. Their are 2 upgrades for me. I am currently downloading them as the support assistant blinks on and off like a demented strobe light. Will HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI or Realtek Bluetooth 4.0 solve the problem?

How about a tune-up... Well it does seem a little more solid, but it just ain't working. Time to contact tech support.

On which platform do you have that problem?
You seem to be posting this with a iPone according to the user agent.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Weird issue with Flash jumping to the left

On the home page (see link above), if you are using IE, when
you click on a link in the main navigation, the animation will
suddenly jump over to the left slightly which looks weird. It
almost appears as if there is another "layer" below it with another
instance of the animation running. Obviously this is not a huge
issue, but it is very strange and I was wondering if anyone has
come across this before and if there is anything that can be done
to fix it.

If you have an access on the voice tab of your device, there are flash settings that you may try to configure under the regional tab. Personally speaking, I never heard of the same kind of problem before but I had a chance to join on a discussion regarding a call waiting/flash issue wherein the settings below fixes the issue:
Hook Flash Timer Min: 0.06
Hook Flash Timer Max: 0.2
Callee On Hook Delay: 0
CPC Delay: 0.5
CPC Duration: 0.1
Again , these settings fixes another issue so if it didn't work on your end, I guess the next best step is to try playing around the values on the said parameter. You may want to post your result here in case you got it working.

Sudden jump to the left

(My Captivate 7 e-learning is 800x600, has a custom theme and has "rescalable html" selected.)
The first few slides run fine, with the e-learning in the centre of the browser window, then a slide has a radio button interaction, and as soon as this interaction appears, the whole thing jumps over to the left hand side of the browser window. I remove the radio button interaction and it doesn't do this, put another radio button interaction in, and it jumps again.
It does this only in the published Flash version, not html 5; and it doesn't do it in the F12 preview, only when published and sitting on WAMP server.
It stays over on the left hand side of the browser for the rest of the e-learning.
Functionality all works fine, it's just very, very ugly.
Has anybody come across this or know how to stop it happening?

You may have a bad install or the app may be in conflict with some other app installed on your system but not on mine. I cannot duplicate your problem. Shortness edit seems to be determined by total duration of clip being edited. (I.e., a short clip can be edited to a single frame but longer clips vary to multiple frames or seconds and frames.) In addition, on my system the "Trim" and "Cancel" buttons on the "Trim" control panel does not disappears as shown when comparing your first image with the second. Therefore, I can cancel the trim setting and exit the trim routine before closing the app. I Do, however, receive the same message (your third image) if I fail to cancel and exit the trim routine before attempting to close the app.

Why is my banner shifting by 1px to the left and right

Hi there,
I put up a banner that will be the main graphic with menu for
my website at www.happysexyyou.com.
The image was made in illustrator, sliced and saved as html
and then put into the dreamweaver template. I like the way it looks
but I notice that the image does a 1 pixel shift to the left, then
to the right, then back to the left whenever I reload it.
I can't figure out why this is, and it's the first time I've
seen this problem. Can anyone see why and help me remove the
shifting?

Mozilla based browsers have a problem with odd widths like
that. I'm
betting that if you change the widths to 802 px (still too
wide in my
opinion) you'll see it stop.

Why is does audio only come out of the left speaker when I press the latency button....?!?!

I have a small problem which I hope someone can advise me on ......
Everytine I press the Latecny button on Logic 9 the audio will stop coming out of the LEFT and RIGHT speakers and only come out of the LEFT speaker ?
Audio sent out of DAW --------> Mixng Deck ------> back into Soundcard via SPDIF (digital) on inputs 9/10
I am sening al my sounds out of the computer to be summed on a mixing decks and then the 2 channles of audio from the deck is coming back into my soundcard as an digital a signle on INPUTS 9/10.
Can anyone please advise ..........!?!

Might want to read on what Low Latency mode does + why and when you should use it.
It's basically only used in realtime monitorinr when recording and/or when recording softsynths.
By reading the docs you should be able to figure out why the right side is being muted.

Be sure software monitoring is Off when recording the summed input.

Why doesn't iPod keep titles transfered from the library?

iTunes seems to transfer titles from my library to the iPod. iTunes shows titles on iPod and plays these titles from the iPod, but as soon as I disconnect the iPod from the computer they are not on it anymore. I have the latest updates of software from iTunes and iPod and still enough space on it. What could be wrong????

One thing to consider is this ...what are the files formatted in ? If you ripped your CD's via Windows Media Player default settings , they're in 128k Windows Media Audio files . These files must be converted by iTunes before being allowed into the library .

Why does Indesign CS6 Tools panel cover up the left side rulers?

Every time I open a window in Indesign CS6 I have to slide the window to the right so I can use the left-hand ruler and the x close button. Is there any way to change this in preferences? Or is this a glitch?

It is actually not a preference.
Method 1: Go to menu WINDOWS->ARRANGE
Method 2: Move the window with the mouse. When the window edges touch the tool bar edges, the window should be framed by a blue frame. Let go and it will be tabbed.

Why can't I see my media in the left sidebar when using finder?

I recently made the switch to Mac and I have some confusion. When using finder, I am not getting an option to browse through my media such as photos, videos and music. How do I get these folders to appear on my sidebar?

What you did doesn't show the Media Browser. It just shows the folders where your media is stored. You may be correct that was all that cobacc wanted.
The Media Browser shows the actual media in thumbnails so that you can preview the media.
However, neither requires any Sharing services to be enabled.

Why do I get a black rectangle on the left side of the screen when I import a clip in Imovie?

I import a clip into imovie 6 and I get a black rectangle on the left side of the screen. It's driving me crazy!

My original source material is in Apple Intermediate Codec, with 32-bit float audio and a variable frame rate. This has not been friendly to FCP, so I use Quicktime to convert it to Apple ProRes with 24-bit audio and 29.97 frame rate. This is what I import into FCP.
My sequence settings are set to the same specs as my source material. 854x480, square pixels, no field dominance, Apple ProRes compression.
The black bar on the left side of the screen shows up before I even export. It shows up when I render everything.
I am exporting with Quicktime Conversion to:
MP4
h.264 codec
720x405
1000 video bit rate
Main Profile
No cropping/filters or anything.
The ONLY thing I did different before upgrading to FCP6 was that I used Apple Intermediate Codec all the way through. I was told by an FCP instructor that writes and publishes all kinds of FCP training material that I should upgrade to FCP6 and use the Apple ProRes422 Codec instead, so that's what I'm trying to do.
I am going back to restart my project using Apple Intermediate Codec all the way through like I used to, but it will be awhile before I can tell if that solved the problem. Either way, I would like to be using the ProRes codec....

Can I stop the "get info" panel from jumping to the left of the screen?

I have a 24" screen and use "get info" a lot. Is there a way to make it default so it opens next to the finder instead of at the left border of the screen?

I think it will be a bit complicated to start messing with this default behavior and may ultimately end badly for you.
If you highlight a group of files and then press Command + "I" the resulting Get Info windows fan across the screen and then cascade down a level and continue fanning until all have opened.
This behavior is similar for a group of folders, if they all have the same permissions. If the folders have different permissions set the result is a multi object Get Info window.
Quite sophisticated, not a road I would want to go down.

Text "jumping" to the left

hey all,
i have made a website containing about 80 pages, all based on the same Dreamweaver CS4 layout, and styled with an external stylesheet. most of them work as they should, but a few do not show up correctly in the latest Windows browsers (IE, Opera, Firefox, Safari) and also not in the DW Design screen.
what happens is that initially they are correct, but when adding more text and introducing pagebreaks, the page visually shifts to the left over a distance of about 8 pixels (measured with the DW guidelines).
what exactly happens, you can see at my testsite: http://www.tribolex.nl/tribtest2/werkwijze.html this page is shown as it should. if however you click the link "standaardtarief" in that page http://www.tribolex.nl/tribtest2/tarief.html is shown - shifted to the left.
this also happens with other pages:

if i look at the code it shows nothing unusual to me and html checkers also can't find anything that is wrong.
i have tried various times to build the pages again completely from scratch, but to no avail. at a certain point in the design the introduction of a or a tag introduces the problem. the only clue that i found is, that when the text is not formatted things show up correct (with the text in the wrong typeface) but as soon as i use the tag or another textstyle defined in the stylesheet things go wrong - occasionally - which makes it very very frustrating.
the same thing happens occasionally when i introduce a *.swf file between <div> tas - also occasionally - sometimes yes, sometimes no....

Add this rule to your CSS -
html { overflow-y:scroll; }
That will take care of it on all pages by forcing all pages to have a 'gutter' where the vertical scrollbar would be, even if they don't require a vertical scrollbar.

Why does my iPad have three lines on the left side of the screen.

My iPad has three lines that goes all the way to the top, over the bars for Att and all the way down over the keyboard.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
