Why do new event items disappear from calendar after a few seconds

Suddenly, new event items disappear from calendar a few seconds (7-30) after creation. This has never been a problem before, and I have used iCal for years. All my old events remain but as of today, when I try to add an event, it stays on the screen for a few seconds, then disappears. I tried entering the events on my iPhone and then syncing, but they went away on my phone as well. Does anyone have an idea of what's happening? Is my iCal out of memory?

I had success with this method:
1) make a backup of iCal's database (-> file menu)
2) revert to that same backup ( " " )

  • Items disappear off dashboard after a few seconds

    Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded to 10.4.11 and ever since my dashboard has died. When I press F12 the screen greys but all dashboard items are gone. So I proceed to click on the "plus" and discover that when I drag widgets on to the dashboard they appear for a few seconds (about 10 seconds) and then they automatically disappear. I did a search on this forum for similar problems and noticed that someone recommended I delete a few pref files as follows:
    com.apple.dashboard.plist
    com.apple.dashboard.client.plist
I did this but still the same problem remains (although I didn't restart OS-X after deleting the pref files - which I will do after posting this message).
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this problem might be occurring?
    Gitanjali

OK so I have restarted OS-X and the dashboard still does exactly the same thing as described in my initial message. Therefore, I'm going to try and re-apply OS-X 10.4.11 upgrade which I have downloaded from Apple's web site. Much like Windows XP service packs, I'm going to assume that I'll to reapply all recent security patches since 10.4.11 was released. I guess I'll just do a system update after 10.4.11 has finished installing and see what happens! Here goes nothing.....

  • Why must my password must be re-entered after so few seconds of inactivity?

I find that only a few seconds of contemplation cause me to have to re-enter my password to return to the page I was editing. Sometimes the password retuns me without a complete sign-in. my browser is MozillaFirefox 3.6.** but internet explorer 8 is in my system. 'Crash' may be the wrong term. What I called 'Crash' is a few seconds of inactivity.

Is this a synced Calendar? If so, from what source?

  • Events disappear from the calendar after a few seconds

No synching, cloud, or anything, simply want to enter events and have them stay on the calendar! This is ridiculous.

  • MBA 10.8.4 wakes from sleep after a few seconds

I have a MacBook Air 4,2 with Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and a lot of trouble with the sleep function. Everytime I want it to sleep, it awakes after same seconds. If I close the lid, the MBA sleeps like a baby until I open it again.

Any idea? It drives me crazy! I would really like to manipulate the system not to wake up any more if I am not pushing the power button. That would be fine!

Test after each of the following steps that you haven’t already tried:
    Step 1
Take all the steps suggested in this support article. That's the starting point for any further effort to solve the problem. Skipping any of those steps may mean that the problem won't be solved.
    Step 2
    From the menu bar, select
System Preferences ▹ Accessibility ▹ Speakable Items: Off
    Step 3
    Reset the SMC.
    Step 4
Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal. Don’t launch any applications at first. If sleep still doesn’t work properly, back up all data and reinstall the OS. After that, if you still have the issue, make a “Genius” appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
If sleep now works as expected, go on to the next step.
    Step 5
Still in safe mode, launch the usual set of applications that are running when you have the problem, including your login items, one at a time, testing after each one. Some applications may not work; skip them. You might be able to identify the cause of the problem this way.
    Step 6
If sleep is still working after you’ve launched all the usual applications, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test again. If sleep still works, you’re done, at least for the moment.
If you still have the sleep issue after booting out of safe mode, post again.

  • Why is my itunes shutting the song off after a few seconds?

iTunes will not play certain songs all the way through!!! Im about to push my computer off the desk!!! HELP!!!

Are those songs from a cd? If they are, just pop the cd into the cd drive and redownload. Same goes for a flash drive. If not, they're from iTunes and you can redownload, from the Purchased tab on the Home Quick link bar.
If nothing works, Apple itself hates you, and you should head to an Apple Store. Good luck!

Can I filter News or Events by time (so that past items disappear from listings)?

Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to find a way to divide events into two lists, "forthcoming" and "past events" which will automatically work without too much work for my client. If I set an event to "expired" is it still in the database and if so, can I list all expired events?

Are you sure .mov files worked on the iPhone without a third part player? I'm just not sure...
    Try these instructions from Apple:
Convert a video to work with iPhone:  Select the video in your iTunes library and choose Advanced > “Create iPod or iPhone Version.” Then add the converted video to iPhone.

  • Exchange Calendar Events Disappearing from iPhone after Editing

    iPhone 6 running iOS8.
Exchange calendar events are disappearing from iPhone right after I edit them from my phone. But they are still visible on my MacBook in Outlook.
It used to happen very rarely but lately it has been happening very frequently. Haven't been able to find a pattern and re-create it.
Tried searching online for this issue. Found quite a few threads about calendar sync issues, including the GMT bug but haven't been able to find this exact issue that I have been facing.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

I have the same problem and it has nothing to do with filing or moving emails,  for instance just before I logged in here to find a solution for the problem, I had just received and email on my iPad.  I was reading it then clicked on a link.  When I finished reading the link In Safari  and went back to the email, it was gone.   I have replied to an email then come back to it and it was gone.  This had nothing to do with viewing the email on a ore device.  This is a real problem I have asked about before and no one seems to know the answer.

  • Every single photo event has disappeared from my iphoto.  it looks like i've never used it.  where are they?

every single phot event has disappeared from my iphoto.  it looks as if i've never used it.  where did they go?

The All Images is a search of all images on the hard drive and would include those in the library.  if you deleted all of the photos listined in the All Images that would include all of those in the library.
To check to see if you have any of your original photos in the library open the iPhoto Library package as shown in this screenshot:
Then open the Originals folder and check the subfolders to see if the image files are there or not.
DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE CONTENTS OF THE LIBRARY PACKAGE.
If the sub folders are empty you have trashed your library.  If the files are there then you can start over with a new library and import just the Originals folder into it.

  • Why do my messages keep disappearing from Notification Centre?

I've only noticed this since upgrading to iOS 7.1 and I can't find any answers anywhere on the Internet. As the title states: why do my messages keep disappearing from Notification Centre? Usually after an hour or two. The badge on the app icon will stay and if I get another message, the new one shows up in Notification Centre, again just for a while.

    Salvizuno -
did you ever solve this problem? i just upgraded to the 5s and my notifications disappear... and it is very frustrating. i have called apple support, gone to the apple store, swapped out my phone but with no luck... can you advise if and how you fixed the problem please?

My app with the CQC updating the JTable didn't get any entryDeleted events.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

All I do to reproduce it is start coherence, register a trigger with that offending line of code in it and add an Execution to the Executions cache. The Execution shows up, but is immediately gone as soon as that line of code in the trigger runs. No entryDeleted event comes over the CQC. I haven't tried doing a get on the missing object's key yet.

But then again, Apple has its own basis. iOS is what's selling like pancakes not Macs, so if the gazillions out there are using iOS device and have gotten used to the calendar in their iOS devices. Wouldn't you think it made sense if Lion has the same calendar look and feel?
Everything was considered and weighthed when they developed Lion. They even mentioned it in the press, They were blown away with the success of iOS so they are extending it to OSX.
Quite frankly, I like the old iCal but yeah I don't expect anything in SL to stay in Lion otherwise it'll be another Cat name related to Leopard
People should start looking at this perspective and not get STUCK in the old OS.
