Why do new tabs open every time i click on something?
Recently within the past couple of weeks I have noticed that when I click on a link or attempt to go to a new page, a new page is opened asking me to update my browser or some kind of junk. They seem to me like pop-ups. How do i get these to stop?
Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

Is there a new tab in addition to your home page, or does the current page stay the same and the home page opens in a new tab?
If you haven't already, try resetting your home page. This articles describes the various methods: How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help -

Why do three new tabs open every time I press the "home" icon?
Three new tabs open every time I press the home icon. I and two others have looked through all my settings and have contacted Mozilla (no response) and can't figure out why this is happening? Anyone have a clue how to stop this incredibly annoying problem from continuing?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

New window opens every time i click a link
Every time I click on a link from a webpage, it opens up a brand new window rather than navigate in the existing window.
Does this affect all sites? If it only affects some sites, could you give examples?
Note: for Google, you can turn this on and off in the search settings. Click the "gear" (Options) icon, then Search settings, then uncheck the box for "Open each selected result in a new browser window". -
Why does another tab open each time I click on 'Home'?
Eacg time I click on the 'HOME' icon a new (empty) tab opens. This will continue to happen no ,matter how many tabs are already opened the same way.
Hi,
Please check if this happens in Safe Mode.

Safe mode disables the installed Extensions, and themes (Appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Use hardware acceleration when available. Options > Advanced. All these settings/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme or hardware acceleration is causing issues.
Options
If the problem persists, you can also try to Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults: and Make Changes and Restart in the Safe Mode start screen. Please note that this would also reset all the Firefox options to the installation defaults. -

I like to zoom in in certain web site pages to make them easier to see/read but now that I've downloaded the newest version of Firefox every time I click on something on a page that I have zoomed in on the new page's zoom setting is reset. How can I fix this, it is so annoying!
Zoom is domain specific.
See this:

If you find that you are having to zoom on many websites, try the Default FullZoom Level extension and set a default zoom level:

Since updating Firefox every time I click on something another site (v. dodgy looking) opens and I can no longer log in to secure (bank etc.) sites, what has happened and how do I cure it? It's reached the point where I no longer use Firefox.
Im wondering why my post hasn't been answered yet. I did file a report with the BBB and I had a rude representative from Verizon call me named Steve. He said I can file all of the reports I want and I will just keep getting calls from him. I can understand why my phone couldn't be replaced because of the small crack. I guess I have to eat that one (but it sucks because the lollipop update is what caused the problems) but what about all of the data overage I had to pay for for trying to fix this phone because of a lollipop update. I dont think it is fair to have to pay that as well. In addition, because I have an east coast phone number but live on the west coast, I cannot have tech support after 8pm. Verizon has cut this off. Im very dissatisfied and I have been a customer of Verizon for 13 years. Im hoping for a response this time.

Pop ups on mac?
I got a mac a few months ago and a few weeks ago I began to get mackeeper ads popping up in a different screen. Now it s getting worse and happening almost every time I click on something, and there s even more variety of what websites pop up. Now I have pop ups on the actual website I m on and they pop up every time I click something. It s really obnoxious and I hate it. How can I get rid of this....? It s really distractingClick here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

Why do new tabs open when I attempt to access some pages on the Internet?
At some websites, especially wikipedia and some other wikis, a new tab will automatically open with "www.xn--1e1-0ma" in its search bar. I do not understand why this happens and it bothers me because several new tabs open causing lag and the frustration to actually close each of the new tabs. Also, when the website loads, it turns into a Verizon (my internet provider) search for "www.1eï1.com" in which there are no relevant results to that.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
