Why do Photos edited in Photoshop disappear in Lightroom?
Q Why can't I find in photos that I edited in Adobe Photoshop, even though I did use the Save command?
A Photos edited in Photoshop are stacked with your original Photoshop Lightroom images. It's possible that they are hidden within the Stack.

Have you set pse as an external editor?
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

I have a sudden export to plug-in problem as well as a Photo-Edit-in-Photoshop Error
I just changed Macs and migrated all of my old data to the new iMac (running OS X 10.9.2). Applications and files. I keep all my photo files on external Iomega drives, however. I plugged those back in and Lightroom 5.2 recognizes them. I can work with them, edit, etc within Lightroom. No problems.
But I can't seem to export them to some of the plug-ins now or Photo-Edit in-Photoshop. For example, I tried to export out via (File-Plug-in Extras-Perfect Effects 8) and get this message: "AgNegative:renderToFile: <AgErrorID>dng_error_write_file</AgErrorID>"
Another example: Trying to edit the photo via (Photo-Edit in-Adobe Photoshop Elements) gives me this message: "Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected file at /Volumes/Photos-Videos /Pictures/2000/2000 Dean Scan 6.jpeg for editing. It will not be opened."
I've tried exporting Raw and jpgs and tiffs and get the same errors. It will, oddly enough, allow me to export to Photomatix Pro.
Any ideas? I'm stumped.
Thanks!That would be great as tested further with a few files as not only have external drive backup I also use Backblaze remote service and just requested a few test files to be returned for uploading, which both worked fine.
It's seems to be the hard drive it's not recognising PS and LR CC

Good Monitor for Photo Editing in Photoshop?
I hope this question isn't too OT for this forum, but I would think that it's an important concern for Photoshop users.
I'm looking for a good monitor for photo editing in Photoshop -- photos that will be printed to 16"x20" and above. I have a limited budget, having invested most of my money in an Epson 7900 printer -- so I'm looking for the best monitor available for under $1000 US. I already have a 19" Samsung flat panel that I will use as my palette monitor in a two-monitor setup.
I have heard of a few good models by Dell in this price range. Any other suggestions on size and brand? Thanks.I haven't seen it myself, but I've read good test reports about the Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA. An IPS display which apparently pretty good colour stabiliy over the whole panel. No hardware calibration, though, but you can't expect this for less than 1000 bucks.

Edit in photoshop cs6 from lightroom 4
Hi
I am working between lightroom 4 and photoshop c6 .
I have an issue though . What happens is that i use to be able to send my photo from LR to photoshop .
Do my work , layers and stuff.
Then save
Back in LR i have now an edit.psd .
Which so far is fine .
But if i resend that edit.psd ( using Edit original) to photoshop, do some work, save it .
When i am back in LR it is still the same Edit.psd and doesn t give me the worflow i use to have .
When i use to resend a edit.psd in photoshop worked and save , i use to have a second image called edit-2.psd.
Which was a really good worflow for me so that i remember which photo is which .
I tried to do edit copy when resending to photoshop , but then i m getting a new file named Edit-Edit.psd .
I like this option better because a least i have the 2 files i want . But i would really like to have that second file as edit-2.psd and if i choose to edit a 3rd time i would have edit-3.psd
Can you please please help me here ?

"Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working.
My "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working. If I hit "Cmd E" in Lightroom, Photoshop opens, but the picture doesn't appear. I have LR 5 and PS CC 2014. I recently uninstalled or deleted PS 6 & PS CC (not PS CC 2014). Any suggestions?
Same problem here. I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 and reinstalled. No change. I also tried dumping PS preferences
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1 Lightroom is version 5.7 Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
FWIW, I also can't automate>Photomerge ... . Makes me think Photoshop, not Lightroom, is all wacky. -
Edit in Photoshop CC in Lightroom 4 opens Photoshop CC on my backup drive (OS X 10.8)

I am having an issue with Lightroom 4 that only began after I installed Photoshop CC.
Every night I clone my iMac to a bootable backup drive. With Photoshop CS6 I had no problems with this. Now, whenever I choose "Edit in Photoshop CC" from Lightroom, it opens the copy of Photoshop on my backup drive instead of the copy on my local drive. I have tried everything I can think of to correct this behavior, bit every time it reverts back to doing this. If I eject my backup drive it will then choose the correct copy of Photoshop CC. But the next time I launch Lightroom, it will tell me that the location of Photoshop CC has changed and make me enter my system password. Then it starts using the version off the backup drive again!
This is very frustrating. I don't want to have to unmount my backup drive every time I lose Lightroom. I've tried reinstalling both Photoshop CC and Lightroom 4.
Between this and my continuing inability to publish to Facebook, I'm starting to think Adobe just wants me to upgrade to Lightroom 5.Moving this discussion to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.

Why do my photos edited in Photoshop cause iPhoto to quit?
I've been using iPhoto for years and in the last few days I can no longer edit or open certain pictures within iPhoto. Everytime I click on photos that have been edited in Photoshop Elements 3, the iPhoto application simply quits. Other photos that have NOT been touched by PE3 open okay. The same happens when I try to view a photo (edited in PE3) full size in the main gallery section (i.e. not in the edit mode). I've edited THOUSANDS of photos in Photoshop Elements 3 and never had this problem until now. It suddenly started about five days ago. I've deleted by iPhoto plist and even reinstalled iPhoto 6.0.4. But nothing seems to work.
I've noticed when exporting photos that the orginal is the same size as state in hte info section of iPhoto - but the one edited in PE3 is much larger (someties twice the size). Is that the added information? Is iPhoto keeping two copies of each picture - the original and the modified version?
Could it be that my Library size is now too large? 16,000 photos and a total library size of 46.7 GB?
I use a Nikon D2x so even the jpegs I shoot are fairly large. I've ordered Aperture 1.5 - will that solve the problem? Or will the same thing happen? My computer by the way is a Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 (one fo the first) with 4.5 GB of RAM.

Photo Edit In Photoshop Elements 10 not working
I've set up Lightroom so that my PS Elements 10 appears as a menu item in the Photo -> Edit In menu.
When I select that option for the selected photo, it begins the process of opening Photoshop Elements 10. PS Elements 10 opens and is functional but there is no open image - it does not load the image selected in Lightroom.
(I'm using LR4.3 and PSE 10.0 on Mac OS X 10.7.5)
What could be wrong?

When I came back to the computer about 10 mins later a dialogue box had appeared saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error."You chose the logical file instead of the correct one, most likely. Adobe sneakily hides the actual editor inside the support files folder. You want this one:

Issues with exporting photos to be edited in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 5.6 using Yosemite OS.
Suddenly, I'm unable to edit my photos from Lightroom 5.6 in Photoshop CS6. I have recently converted from Mavericks to Yosemite OS. But, I haven't had any issues for the past week or two. Now, whenever I try to Edit photos from Lightroom 5.6 in Photoshop CS6, either nothing happens. Or from the drop down menu, the option to Edit in Photoshop CS6 is greyed out. Both Lightroom and Photoshop are the latest versions. I've even uninstalled, and reinstalled Photoshop CS6 without any improvement. Help!!!
Sorry, I was wrong about the check box, that only works if you are importing images from a memory card. If they are already in the catalogue, they will be greyed out in either case.
"I'm pretty confident therefore that it is not in the catalog but it appears that Lightroom for some reason thinks it is." Well I can't read Lightroom's mind, but I think that Lightroom thinking it is in the catalog is the same thing as it being in the catalog.
When you still have the edited file open in Photoshop CS6, after you have edited and saved it as "IMG_4312-edit.tif," what happens if you try "save as," does it bring you to the correct folder to save it in? If you try to save as without changing the name does it ask if you want to overwrite the original? Can you now save it with a new name (e.g. "IMG_4312-Edit2.tif") and have it show up?
You type above, "IMG_4312.CRW, I do some edits in Lightroom but I want to do some more in Photoshop so I send it to the PS CS6 from within Lightroom. The image opens, I make my edits and I click Save. This creates a new file called IMG_431-Edit.tif." 4312 vs. 431 just make sure you aren't making the same small mistake when searching for the file. -
Incorrect size when photo edited in photoshop
If I am viewing an image at full screen in iPhoto and then open it for editing in Photoshop, The resulting saved image is the wrong size when it uploads to Flickr. Sometimes, it also appears at the wrong size when viewed in iPhoto as well. Generally, rebuilding thumnails corrects the problem. Likewise, images opened from the iPhoto grid view also do not appear incorrectly. Granted, I just named two work-arounds, but neither is very satisfying. Anyone else have a better idea?

Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired. -
Edit in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 4.1 fails
I am using LR 4.1 and PS CS6 on a Win7 64bit system. Previously with LR3 and LR4 I was able to "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom to CS5 and all was well. Now with LR4.1 and PS CS6 when I "Edit in Photoshop CS6" I get a partial image. Any image that I try produces various versions of this. The attached screen capture shows a blank area in the upper left corner. Other images have shown several smaller blank areas in various positions on the image, and one image contained several blank areas plus a small inset of the image.
This is quite frustrating, as I generally use LR to crop and make minor adjustments in a photo, then edit some photos in PS. Now I can no longer edit anything in PS without first exporting the image from LR, work on it in PS, then save it and reimport it into LR. Very inconvenient.
Please advise what I am doing wrong or let me know if there is a workaround.

-HerschelThis is probably a video card driver bug which has been reported in the PS forum from time to time. It's a PS problem, not a LR problem.
Assuming this is Windows, go to the video card maker's website and download an updated driver. Don't rely on Windows update; they're frequently several versions behind. On a Mac it would have to be through OS X updates. -
Can't "Edit in Photoshop CS6" in Lightroom 4.1, after upgrading Photoshop from CS4
I recently installed Creative Suite 6 Production Premium, and uninstalled Photoshop CS4, but Lightroom seems to be confused and doesn't show "Edit in Photoshop CS6" as an option.
Lightroom seems to be aware that Photoshop CS4 is no longer installed: the first command under "Edit In" is "Edit in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit)\Photoshop...", and all the Photoshop-specific "edit in" commands (smart object, layers, etc.) are unavailable. I tried adding Photoshop CS6 as a secondary editor, but this makes Lightroom export a TIFF to PS rather than opening the file in Camera Raw.
I'm not sure what I have to do to convince Lightroom that I have Photoshop CS6 installed. Any ideas?

Importing photos edited in Photoshop distorts them!
I use iPhoto to organize all of my photos, but I use Photoshop 7 to edit them. I have been working on a project where I export a photo in iPhoto to the desktop, edit it in Photoshop (change to B&W, then colorize certain parts), and then I want to import it back into iPhoto so it can be organized with the rest of my photos.
However, when I import the edited photo back to iPhoto, it appears very distorted. The contrast is really really high, and the colorization does not even come close to what I have done.
The photos look fine when I look at them in Photoshop and in Preview.
Any clues as to why iPhoto doesn't like this? They look ok when all I do is crop in Photoshop, it seems to be the color changes and filter applications that are freaking it out.Hi, Old Toad.
The photo is a jpeg, both in photoshop and iPhoto, before and after the edits. I am taking a CMYK photo, changing it to B&W (discarding all color information), and then switching back to CMYK (in the image mode menu) so that I can apply color to certain areas.
I have not created any new layers - all is one layer.

Opened photos in photoshop and edited, then saved as in iphoto changing only the file extension. I am then unable to view edits in iphoto. Using finder, I can see the edited files and can view in preview, yet if I open the mac hd from desktop, I find the directory path listed in finder stops 2 folder short of where the edited photos are.
Path shown in finder = home>pictures folder>i library>modified folder>bridgeday folder>img. If I go to mac hd, I run into a deadend at ilibrary?

Daleyou NEVER make any changes of any sort to the contents of the iPhoto library - this includes saving photos into it
you need to go to the iPhoto preferences and set PS as the external editor - then iPhoto will correctly pass a photo to PS and after editing you save (not save as) to return it to iPhoto where is is correctly places into the iPhoto library and everything is updated

Why have my edited CR2 files disappeared from Bridge?
When I edit my CR2 files in Cam Raw I pull many in at once and do my adjustments. Then I click done and they all go back to Bridge and they show the edited version as adjusted CR2 files. Then I highlight them and pull them into the export panel for resizing into small jpegs for my facebook page. That has all changed this week and I have no idea how or why!!!!!!!!!! Now when I adjust and click done the edited version does not show in bridge and when I use the export panel the unedited version is resized. I have looked in every preference file and tried everything to get the edited version to show with no luck. WHY would this be changed??? Is it something I need to reclick???

The operating system you are using makes a difference, but with Windows they will be wherever you saved them to, so long as they saved OK. Do they appear in the Photoshop > File > Open recent list?
You could try using Save As with a new document and making careful note of the file path, or just use the Windows seach facility from the Start button.
So what Operating System are you using, and have you found those files yet?
