Why do photos on my ipad3 look so crappy?
I have synced my pictures from "My Pictures" on a Windows 7 PC. These are 12 MP JPG files, 4000 x x3000 pixels, 24 bit, sRGB, approx 2.33 MB each, shot by Canon Powershot ELPH 300HS.
The pictures look great on my PC monitor but look crappy (not sharp, colored areas look blotchy) on the ipad3. Any idea why?
Is there a setting in iTunes or iPad that can affect the transfer or the display of pictures?

My problem seems to be resolved. I had tried vieweing my pictures just after importing about 4 GB of files. I believe that what the Photo app was showing me the lower resoultion "icon" file stored in each JPG file .. the same image you see when scrolling through the folder by sliding the finger long the bottom of the image.
Looks like after the iPad had some time to build indexes or whatever, the images are now shoung up in full glory and sharpness.

Why does Photos max out my CPU?
Just "upgraded" to 10.10.3 on my MacBook Pro and converted to Photos. Every time Photos is open, a couple of seconds later, the fan is running full-bore and only stops when I close Photos. I don't know why you believe that emails would be using 6go if you deleted them all. I think you concluded this from the available space left and what you know is using space. You have to understand that what is taking storage space is not only apps, music and emails. There is also the iOS which is taking space as well as a lot of data cached on your devices that will usually be shown as 'Other' category if you are to look at your space usage from iTunes.
If the total 'Other' space appears excessive, I suggest you should 'restore' your device (after a full recent backup); this sometimes helps to remove any data left behind. But before this, try a look at Settings->General->Usage->Manage Storage. This will list apps from the most space consuming to the less. It could also help you to identify which apps may take to much of your precious space not only by apps size but also from the data the apps had stored.

How can I save photos on my ipad3 since downloading iOS6 I do not get SAVE PHOTO option only DONE. Please don't be too technical I am74 and really only use my ipad for photos and emails
If the photos that you are wanting to delete are also in your Camera Roll then you can delete them from the camera roll

Why is "Photos" so awful? iPhoto was simple, intuitive, easy to organize and use. Photos is the opposite of that.

My photos always seem to look darker in photoshop elements than when I view them in windows photo viewer - and now I have purchased the annual contract for photography cloud they look exactly the same in PS CC6 as they do in photo viewer - but I still use PS Elements 12 for some tasks and they still appear slightly darker in there - any ideas? - Regards Robert

i want to import photos onto my ipad3. it shows up as a device in itunes but there isn't a photo category listed. it shows music, movies, books and purchased.

Just got an iPad mini 3 and have not reset my iPad mini 3; is that why the photos from iCloud backup are not showing up in the new iPad?
Sorry, don't know what you are asking. You have an old iPad Mini 3 and a new iPad Mini 3? How did you set up the new iPad? Did you restore it from a backup of the old iPad? What photos are you not seeing?

Try deleting the old backup.
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the device name and on the resulting screen, scroll down and tap on Delete Backup. -

You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Why do photos take up so much space on my phone?
I have an iPhone 5, 16 gigs. I have 174 photos and 22 videos and it says that the photos take up 3.6g of my memory... My friend has over 2k photos and hers is at 4gigs. I saved my photos to iPhoto and I deleted all my photos and ran a test, I made sure photos were at 0gigs; Then i took 30 random photos and checked and it said that it took up 124mbs. 30 photos 124mbs. I don't understand why my photos take up so much space. I also bought the Beyonce album when it came out and thats the only music I bought and it says it takes up 1.1gigs and the 17 videos are at 974 mbs. help????
Import the photos to your computer, then sync them back with iTunes. The photos will be reduced in size and quality to fit on the iPhone without taking as much space as the original pictures.
Also make sure not to use HDR mode if you do not need that feature.
After you import your photos from Camera Roll or Saved Photos, you can use iTunes to sync them back to your device.

"Vaguely like" is the best we can hope for and a minor miracle in itself. PDF was never meant to be converted.

Preview, photo opened in it looks sharp and then soften 2 sec. later!
Everytime I open up a photo in Preview it looks sharp for 2 sec and then it soften right infront of my very eyes. Ther same photo looks sharp and stay sharp when open in Photoshop. Is there a bug in Preview that came with OX10? Has anyone found the same problem? I look into Preview pref and tried several tweekings. Still the same.

You were right. When set to actual size in pref. the
previews will remain sharp but as soon as you use the
magnify glasses + or - the softening returns.
I'd suggest sending feedback to Apple about it if you'd like them to change it. It looks like they use a lower quality, faster algorithm to scale the pictures in Preview. Then they anti-alias the resulting picture. If I scale an image in Photoshop using "nearest neighbor" as the interpolation algorithm, I get results identical to what I see in Preview until it smooths out the ragged edges.

I have manipulated a photo using layers etc and then flattened it and saved it under a new name. When I use 'Preview' (mac) to view the finished photo it doesn't look right. It's as the layers have not flattened correctly. When viewed in Elements 12 it looks OK. The photo looks incorrect in other software such as photo books.
Looking at the same photo before flattening, what is being shown is only the top layer.

The top layer is indeed the one that is visible, unless there is/are area(s) of translucency on that layer, so that you can visualize a portion of the subjacent layer.

Are your settings targeted to have the printer manage colors, or, to have PSE manage colors?
