Why do Photosmart 6510 printers usually fail to print black (even after trying all ideas)?Help!
Photosmart 6510, new.
new cartridges. Prints colors great. Black -- a bit of spotty black then nothing. Replaced the new black with another new black cartridge (HP 564).
Result: Colors still work great. Black -- blank pages, nothing. Did all ideas in forums. All. Clean from the menu, you name it.
Judging from the many, many people having the same trouble. HP should recall this printer!
Or will we have to conclude (after owning a dozen) that HP no longer makes good stuff??
Same thing here... And they alway take you through time wasting twists and turns again and again Let's get to the point: This and apparently many other HP models have grave print head clotting/clogging/getting obstructed problems, for models with removable printer heads, you can remove it, soak the nozzles in hot water and they'll get un-clogged it seems, but what about 6510's un-removable printer head ?! Thumbs up if you think this is an under-par product which should be recalled. People have bought printers TO PRINT! not to do kitchen work with boiling waters...

My HP Photosmart 309a printer was not printing black, trying various ideas from this forum, I used the #6 reset (after replacing cartridges etc etc). This was successful and the black printed out on a test page, but then I couldn't reconnect wirelessly to the PC.
The Wireless Network Test Report says the Wireless is on, but that the Wireless radio is not functioning. (It seems that the #6 did something to the Wireless on the printer.)
The #6 reset turned the wireless radio off. After I turned it on again its search still did not find any wireless routers.
I have tried various printer resets, #3, #6 to no avail. Would appreciate any further ideas.
This is my second HP printer. I got rid of my last one recently, when I couldn't get it to print black, even though it was stilll quite new. This one is certainly not a year old, but because we are selling our house and have put almost everything in storage I don't have access to the receipts, so cannot get the printer replaced.Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I have 2 printers - suddenly neither will print black ink
I have 2 printers - suddenly neither will print black ink - put in new ink, cleaned the heads, this has happened before and then all of the sudden it starts printing black again - could this be a computer setting that is blocking black? I have checked for viruses and none come up, I have plugged/unplugged both printers and no difference. I believe it's a computer issue, not the printers as what would cause 2 different printers to stop printing black??? Can anyone help?

Have photosmart premium c309 g connected wirelessly to I Mac and Mac book pro. The unit suddenly will not print black. Ink levels show all good. All other colors print fine. When check HP utility and go to print quality diagnostics, a box appears that states cannot print PQ page--make sure printer is turned on. If I tell it to print a page, it immediatly connects and prints all colors but not black. How can it print regular page but not receive message to print PQ page? "make sure printer is on" ??
I have this exact same problem with the same printer. Printer will not print black. My macbook pro is connecting to the printer but shoots out a blank page. I just put in a new ink cartridge even though it was not low on ink. Please help.

I am creating a document in Publisher & converting to a pdf. Most of my png elements within the document, are then printing black and white from the pdf (everything else is in color)? Don't know what is going on, doesn't seem to happen on all printers, is there a setting I am missing? Help! Thanks
Could be a setting in the PNGs when they are saved.
Have you tried saving them as GIFs and replacing them in the document(s)? -
HP Photosmart 6520: Black ink is not printing evening after installing all new ink cartidges

Printer has been working great since I've bought it. I replaced the black ink cartridge today because my daughter remarked that blank pages was printing ... no word doc.
Tonight I tried to print and no black ink, neither from the Printer function nor the Copy function.
Just to make sure that this wasn't a bad black ink cartridge, I went out and bought and installed all the ink cartridges and still no black ink,.
I have run the software - Clean Printheads, both steps, twice (after waiting an hour inbetween the first and second series.)
I have verified that the in flows from the cartridge.
I have verified that the vent hole on the cartridge is open.
The warranty ended on 12-31-2013.
The only time I see black ink (words) is when I print the PRINT QUALITY DIAGNOSTIC report.
Printhead removal does not appear to be user available. Any suggestions - other than buy a new one?

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Photosmart 6520, you are unable to print in black ink after replacing the cartridge.
I would like you to continue here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. Please let me know which Country/Region you are in as well as the product Warranty status: HP Warranty Checker

Photosmart 6515 doesn't print black ink after installing new HP cartridges
I have read multiple topics on this very issue. I have followed all recommendations posted by the support staff responding. It started out as printing the black in streaks. Multiple system print head cleanings did not work. Now all of the sudden, there is no black printing. Ensured the print cartridge were vented properly, ran the clean function approximately 6 times. Checked warranty and of course it's expired. I would really like to get this resolved. Tired of buying a disposable printer every 2 years.
I live in southeastern Virginia.I am having the same problems with the photosmart 6515. Put in new cartridge and now will no longer print black. Tried everything suggested. Nothing works. I am frustrated and disappointed in this product.
BTW - I live in the U.S., in Virginia ... and I am a lawyer and am thinking seriously of a class action lawsuit after seeing how many hundreds of people are having this SAME problem with no solution from HP. -

I haven't been able to update several software for weeks and thought the latest Createive Cloud update on 8/20/13 (1.1.1.220) would solve the problem, it did not. I keep getting errors "Update Failed" Error encountered during installation. (U44M1P7) Is this a CC issue or an Internet connection issue I should take up with Comcast? Either way I cannot upload the upgrades I need and pay for.

For the products opening as trials, is there a "License This Software" button available? If there is, you should be able to sign in with your Adobe ID and not have it open as a trial.
You can install CS6 versions, if you click the More Information link below the product name in Creative Cloud for desktop app, that opens the product page where you can select to download the CS6 version.

The printer has been acting up over the past 3 months. Now it has stopped printing with a brand new black cartridge also new coloured ink cartridges.

All,
I am having a major hard time trying to get my TOCs to properly display levels. I have been doing research on the subject, but it seems any recommendations have proved futile.
The issue:
My ID docs TOC's do not display levels at all
I have pretty much tried everything. I have gone to simple styles for Chapters and Sub Chapters to see what the issue would be

One article I found which outlined ID having issues with inset text boxes
It seems setting an inset on text boxes with TOC content affects the display of such
I tried removing any insets but results still did not fix the issue i face
Questions
What the hell am i doing wrong?
Is this a bug in ID CS6?
Is there anything I should not be doing when formatting a style that will be used on the TOC?
Are there any "NO NOS" I should be aware of here?
I mean, the above image is a test i built using a bare bones approach. The "Chapters" and "Sub Heads" styles are truly basic formats. The only attributes to these styles is a change in font style and size:

Thanks to everyone for all your comments. To remove any possible conflicts, I did not apply any entry styles to the entries because i thought:
The TOC function generate levels independent of styles
Levels are automatically applied to any entry (TOC levels override everything else)
That levels override any styles one may apply to the entry
Basically, I do not need a style to create an indentation in my TOC. Levels create the indentation. (thus my example using the default ID Basic Paragraph Style)
Are the above assumptions wrong? If I am wrong, then are you guys saying I would need to create a TOC specific style denoting indentation for ever level?
IOWs, following my example:
Chapters = LV1 = Create a "TOC Paragraph Style X" that indents (say) 0pxs
Sub Heads = LV2 = Create another "TOC Paragraph Style Y" that indents (say) 20pxs
On the table of contents I would need to apply each their corresponding style in order to create TOC indents:
"Chapters" ---> TOC Paragraph Style X
"Sub Heads" ---> TOC Paragraph Style Y
If this is the fix, then I must say that this is a very cumbersome approach. (Hell, I would ask, why give me the levels option in the firts place in the TOC dialogue box!) If I have a book with a ton of levels, it will be pretty darn hard to manage so many styles.
PS: sorry I omitted one dialogue screen in my original post. Here is what I am doing.

Everytime I open my Macbook to go online it automatically selects the wifi network of BTopenzone or BT Wifi with Fon. I have only ever connected to the Internet in this way once, over a year ago, and have removed it from my networks list several times and asked not to be connected in this way.
If I want to connect to my home wifi I have to join other networks and search for it there. It frustrates me every time. Does anyone have any idea why my laptop is doing this?
As you can probably tell I am not the most computer literate. Possibly this is an easy thing to rectify and I am just being naive? I hope so! How can I get my Photosmart C310a to print in black. I changed that both black cartridges and the ink status screen indicates that there is ink.
