Why do pop email accounts not work with mountain lion?

Since downloading mountain lion none of my pop accounts will work. Says they are offline.

As far as Snapz Pro X 2 functionality, some major backend Digital Rights Management changes enacted by Apple may be what is preventing you from recording movies you were previously able to record using our software. Basically, our program can no longer access videos before the DRM protections are enabled, unfortunately we have no control over these changes.     Unplug and plug in back the camera does not solve this problem. I tried that before.
    But what worked was to start photo booth. Don't really know why.
    So after every restart of the mac I have to start photo booth and dictation with the QuickCam is working. ^^

    I installed Windows XP into Bootcamp on my 2009 MacBook Pro (either in Leopard or Snow Leopard, I do not remember which) and I used it with Parallels 6.
    When I upgraded it to Lion, even though the Lion Bootcamp will NOT install Windows XP, my Bootcamp (and use by Parallels 7) survived the upgrade.
    It may be possible that it will also survive and operate a future upgrade to Mountain Lion.

    iMac G5 can only be upgraded to 10.5.8.
    If you have continuing use, you are among the lucky ones.  I purchased many of these used from a company that shut down its American office.  Many of these eventually suffered from the "bad capacitor" problem and required a motherboard replacement from Apple.  I was lucky in that my local Genius bar approved these for no charge, even though Apple's extended warranty had expired.
    My last one was my desktop Mac.  It's power supply failed in 2010 and I paid for a replacement.  In Summer 2011 when its HD failed, I decided it was time to move on and purchaed a Mac Mini, which I continue to run on Lion.

  • POP Email Account Not working after update to 1.1.1

    After I updated to 1.1.1, I noticed my email wasn't working quite right, so I did a complete restore, and in the process of setting everything back up, I can not get my personal pop email account to work. After creating a new account with the "Other" option, I enter all the correct information, and when I hit "save", I get this message: Secure Connection Failed, Certificate for "Personal" may be invalid.
    It then gives me the option to Cancel or Continue, but hitting continue just hangs. Any thoughts? It was working properly before the update, and my desktop client is still connecting and receiving emails, so nothing has changed on my ISP's end.

    Given that other posts mention two prompts: first that "certificate may be invalid" and second "would you like to connect without SSL?" (paraphrase), I decided to hit "continue" on the first dialog and see what happened in my case. After doing so, I was NOT prompted a second time, so it would SEEM that my SSL connection completed normally after all. For others in this circumstance who require/demand SSL, you may want to try continue on the first prompt to see if it just works.
    By all appearances, I still have a secure pipe to my email. It's a shame that this prompt and the results of "continue" aren't better at indicating what the actual issue is.
    Note that in my case, I'm probably prompted about the certificate because I don't have a globally-signed SSL cert. I am just using one that I created myself and imported into the Mac OS X keychain. This cert was sync'd beautifully (thank you Apple!) to my phone originally, and appears to still be working. A check of the mail prefs on the iphone still show both inbound/outbound mail to have SSL "on" so it doesn't appear to have been disabled by 1.1.1 or by my pressing "Continue".
    I believe that this 1.1.1 update was a deep enough update of the OS that it is merely warning me again (in an unfortunately cryptic way) that the certificate is not signed by global cert authorities. I think it did the same thing when I first set up the iPhone (1.0) but hasn't prompted me again like this on any updates since.

    I spent a lot money purchasing the pro addition only to be told that it won't work with mountain lion due to Apple's written something into the code that does not permit me to make videos with it. I even tried ot make a video of Indesign acting up so i could send it to Adobe support and it wouldn't allow me to. Is this the resaon it suddenly doesn't work anymore? Are there plans to fix mountian lion to allow me to use my software? Alternatively,, does Apple have something that does screen captures of videos?

    Note the supported wireless channels - the 5GHz channels in the UK are 36-48 which are not on the list. A firmware upgrade on my router appears to have changed the country code. Having done a bit of checking it appears OS X detects this using 802.11d and enables what it believes are the correct channels.
    Having disabled the WiFi on the router, OS X now sees the 5GHz network first and allocates the correct channels :

    I have the new Imac with Mountain Lion and the base, built in Nvidia GeForce 650M card.  I bought the Falcon Allied Forces game app from the app store, but the in-game graphics are unusable, pixelated, and generally garbage.  It does not appear there are any patches out there to correct this?  Has anyone had any luck correcting this issue?  From what I can gather, it seems it worked fine on other macs prior to Mountain Lion?  So is this an Apple patch, or a game developer patch that needs to go in place?

    Notes are synched via IMAP.  IMAP is a protocol most frequently used by email.
    So if you have an iCloud account and have set up a @me.com email address, that's what is used to sync.  For Gmail, that can be used as well, though Gmail's IMAP support has to be enabled on their site and their implementation is very nonstandard and can be problematic.  Best is to sync notes via iCloud.

  • Calender reminders / alerts to email not working with Mountain Lion

    I installed Mountain Lion 10.8.5 on my macbook. Then all my calendar reminders which are set to email me at set times of the day / week / month / year failed to work. I've tried all the advice in all the forums but nothing can make my calendar send me an email to alert me to do what I've set in my calendar.
    I've tried everything over a 3 week period and nothing gives me back the functionality I had with the previous version of Calendar sending me emails to remind me to do things.
    Even the geniuses at Genius Bar at Apple were not able to make it work.
    Can any geniuses out there help me?

    Since I have no way of knowing what you've already done, I have to assume you've done nothing.
    From the Calendar menu bar, select
    Calendar ▹ Preferences ▹ Alerts
    and uncheck the box marked
    Turn off shared calendar messages in Notification Center
    if it's checked.

    GateKeeper is just one of the anti-malware protection features of Mountain Lion. There are others. Mountain Lion actually includes its own malware scanner too. The difference is that it doesn't check for all the millions of Windows viruses. Just keep your software updated. Mountain Lion should do that automatically.
    In the case of spam my internet provide i have email address threw them and even after turning on their filter I continue to get spam, so that why I been asking. I've been told of one today called SpamSieve.
    SPAM is more difficult. I use SpamSieve and highly recommend it.

  • Gmail does not work with Mountain Lion

    Since I installed Mountain Lion, Gmail does not work properly. I still receive emails, but everytime I try to send an email through my gmail account a window opens and says:
    "Cannot send message using the server smtp.gmail.com:[email protected]  Sending the message content to the server failed.  select a different outgoing mail servre from the list below or click Try later..."
    Any way, the only smtp mail that works is my Icloud email. Exchange server works too.  Yahoo does not work either.

    You likely have corrupted settings for your  "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" for each of the failed Accounts.  Open Mail>go to Mail's Preferences>Accounts>select an Account in the left column to work on>then set up your Outgoing Mail Server which will INCLUDE resetting up your Password, as its asking you to.  Click on "SMTP Outgoing Mail Server" near the bottom of the Accounts window while your mail account is highlighted in the left hand column.  When you click on SMTP... you will see a drop down box icon offered at the right side of the line.  Click it and then select at the bottom of the the list "Edit SMTP Mail Server".  Fill in the required settings for your ISP mail account using their recommended settings.

    Because your model is old and does not support the 64-bit EFI ROM requirement to install Mountain Lion. If you meet the 2 GB RAM requirements you could install Lion:
