Why do random songs play their intro twice??

Hi I'm sorry if this is an issue that has a thread already but I can't find any answers and it's driving me nuts.
I have recently noticed that random songs in my library have a double intro and I can't understand what's happening.
Basically a song plays for up to 20 seconds, goes quiet for a second, then the song starts again from the beginning at 22 seconds into the track and plays to the end of the song.
When I catch them I can alter the Start time in Options to cut out the additional intro but I want to know if I can stop it happening in the first place as it seems to happen with tracks that have been ripped from CDs.
I have checked the songs on the CDs and they're okay and I'm using 10.4.0.80 and Vista Home Premium........is this happening to anyone else??

Okay I have confirmed the problem is related somehow to purchase backup / ripped discs as I've had to use my backups in the past and it is these tracks which are affected. In some cases it's one or two tracks but for some it's every song on the disc and the discs play normally in a regular player so I don't know what I've done wrong when adding them to itunes??
Is this just me or has anyone else had the problem?

What is your iTunes version?

Why is Random/Shuffle playing only a limited subset of songs?

For no reason that I can discern, the Random function is playing only from a small number of songs -- mainly ones I added today and yesterday. I noticed this because I have a custom "Shuffle" playlist that I've used for years and today I dumped about 125 new songs into my music library. All I was hearing was the new songs. When I quit the playlist and went directly to my library, with Random still selected, no matter what song I started with the queue would still contain only the new songs.
When I turn the random function off everything plays in the order it should.
I have a huge library -- over 25,000 files. Have I hit the limit that Random can deal with? (Just kidding, I don't really think that's it.)
I've tried trashing com.apple.iTunes.plist in Preferences and restarting the computer, which made no difference. I've turned off the Remote app on my iPad, which I often use to control playback. Beyond that I'm stymied.

As a follow-up, I tried reinstalling iTunes. No change. Then I tried editing my playlist so that it didn't include any songs added after last month, which resulted in it coming to a grinding halt after playing whatever song I selected.
Now, in fact, when I try to play anything from a playlist I can only play one song. Clicking on the "Up Next" queue brings up the message "No upcoming songs."

Why do some songs play properly in iTunes but not on iPod Classic?

Hi all, I have two songs in my library that play all the way through properly when played in Itunes through my Mac, and on my iPhone, and on my iPod, but not when played on my iPod Classic 80GB. That seems weird to me ... can anyone offer me some suggestions as to what's going on and how I might fix it? Thanks in advance.

What format are these two tracks in and at what bitrate are they encoded? Are they downloads from the iTunes Store or were these tracks that you were imported from outside of iTunes?

Why does my song play for only a few seconds?

I purchased & downloaded an entire album from itunes but the first song, the title track, will only play for a few seconds before skipping to the next song. It's a 3min long tune but all I get is 3-4 seconds of play. How can I ensure that I get the entire track that I paid for?

If you can do a second download in your country delete the track completely from your iTunes library, then re-download.

Random Song Playing

Hey everyone...lets see if anybody's had this problem.
I make my own ringtones on phonezoo.com. I have NEVER had a problem until last week. I made a ringtone from a song and a few days later used the camera on my phone. I got out of the camera feature and the ringtone I made started playing. I tried hitting the end call button and unlocking my phone and locking it. I tried everything. Nothing worked! The ringtone ended on its own. Not thinking about it I used the camera again for something and it happened again. I finally deleted the ringtone and tried the camera again and it happened. I then pulled the battery and tried the camera and it didn't happen. A few days later I went back to phonezoo.com and made a new ringtone from the same song and this time it the ringtone played when I ended a phone call. It no longer happened when I used the camera. So I finally deleted the ringtone and pulled the battery and all is well without the ringtone on my phone. Someone said to me I might have a virus on my phone or need an update. I'm not sure how I can get a virus on my phone!! Anyways!!! Has anybody had this problem. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this? Any help is much appreciated!!!

First, welcome to the forums. Let me guess...you have a Blackberry Tour. That is a known problem that has started happening with the latest operating system (OS) with that device, 5.0.0.591. A temporary fix was found and you can go to this thread at http://community.vzw.com/t5/BlackBerry-Devices/BlackBerry-Tour-9630-5-0-Upgrade-Issue-With-Sounds/td-p/184929 for more information. It is not a virus, but rather a software glitch. My recommendation is to just not use any user-created ringtones until a software fix is released.

Why wont my songs play all the way through

Hi,
I bought the Fall Out Boy PaxAm Days album a few months ago and it the songs wouldn't play on the computer I purchased them on. So today I tried a different computer and they all downloaded but half of the songs will not play all the way through. I'm perturbed that I can't play them or get my 5 dollars back.
Any advice is appreciated.

It sounds like you made a purchase from the iTunes Store and downloaded the songs but they will not all play the entire way through. It sounds like the files in question may not have downloaded completely. Try deleting the affected songs from your computer:

Then you can redownload them from your purchased history usign the following article:

Ok, So I came into work today & Music on pandora was playing . Next thing I know , the music shuts off. I went on iTunes to play music & nothing. When I restarted the computer, the restart sound played & everything. When I throw trash away , it makes sounds but if i play music on pandora, iheart.com or itunes, music does not play.
HELP.

Why are my songs playing twice?

I answered my own question just by fooling around. Play a song. When the album artwork appears (sometimes must tap "Now Playing" to get it). There are two double arrow icons under the playing time. The arrows to left are perpendicular to each other. If they are orange, songs will replay. Tap this arrow. When it turns white, replays will stop. I haven't really figured out what the criss-crossed arrows icon on the right is for yet. One person said this is covered in the manual but I'll be darned if I can find it anywhere.

I5/iOS6 playing random songs

I'd love some input/feedback to this 'problem'. When I go to play music, why does a random song play instead of what I was last listening to? iTunes Match is turned off, Home Sharing is turned off, Shuffle is off, Shake to Shuffle is off.
What gives? Is this the new normal? Hope not, 'cause I don't like it at all. I want to be able to pick up where I left off.

I having the same problem with no success.

Songs playing on one computer, but not on others.

I use my iPod on three different computers (Home/Work/brand new laptop). I recently upgraded my iPod from original 80gb to new Classic 160gb. Before I purchased my new iPod, I transferred my whole library (about 50gb)from my iPod onto my new laptop(using transfer software). Then when I purchased my new iPod I synced the whole library to the iPod. The problem is that when ever I connect my iPod to my work or home PC some songs have an exclamation mark next to them (and they don't play). So when I went to replace the "exclamation marked" songs from the laptop (where the whole library exist), I had NO exclamation marks. So my question is why do the songs play on one computer but not the others? Please help!

It looks alot like the problem we had when we couldn't resolve the CUPS server FQDN. But the desktop and laptop are on the same subnet and use the same DNS servers. I can ping the CUPS server by FQDN from the command prompt on both

I swapped out the username for and the domain with to protect the innocent. Or maybe the guilty; we will see. From the command prompt I can ping BC-IPT-UPS. and I get a response from the CUPS at the correct IP address.

I updated my imac, ipad1 and iphone to ios5 and I can not get it to sync with itunes properly.
First attempt all my music seemed to go over but hardly any of the cover art,
deleted all the music and then retryed it appeared to go on the same, rather strangly the same few coverarts seemed to be on the ipad but now when i touch a sing a completely different random song plays,,,,,any suggestions?

I experienced a similar issue after updating to iTunes 10.5 and my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. Here's what I did to resolve the issue:
Connect your device
Click on your device on the left side of iTunes
Click the "Music" tab at the top of the screen
Uncheck "Sync Music"
Click the "Sync" button to sync your device
After syncing has completed, check "Sync Music"
Click "Sync" button again to sync your device
The steps outlined above worked for me and all my tunes and cover art are in order again. Hope it works for you!

Random songs are stopping early when playing in iTunes 11.2.2, any ideas as to why?

I've never had this issue before now, and it's only doing it to random songs. I checked the stop time and it's set to the end of each one, but iTunes still ends it earlier than it should. Any ideas? Thanks...

Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.
Resolution
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
1. Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
2. Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
3. Download your previously purchased song from this list.
Note: iTunes in the Cloud, which allows you to download previously purchased songs from the iTunes Store, is not available in every country. Learn if iTunes in the Cloud is offered in your country.
