Why do RGB colour references look different on screen in Illustrator and Adobe Muse?

Prior to a December upgrade to CC versions of Illustrator and Photoshop and an upgrade to Muse, RGB colours looked consistent in all 3. Now they do not and I don't understand why there has been this change. I cannot see a way of pulling them all into line. I always synchronise colours via Bridge.

For colors on the web it is best to use web safe colors. Non-websafe colors can and will give different looks in different browsers and file types.

Why the same Pantone Coated colour looks different on screen between the Bridge palette and the Solid palette. If I compare the same colour on the 2 printed coated palettes, they look the same

Thank you so much for responding! Here are answers & below screenshot of my Distiller settings:
    Platform = Windows
    Frame version = 8
Rendering workflow = I print to .ps and then distill to PDF.
What settings in Distiller? I tried the "Tag all images for color management" in Distiller with sRGB selected as the color model, but it still came out lime---however, when I chose "Convert All Colors to CMYK" it kept the green color BUT then greyed out my images!!! I have attached a screenshot of the settings---can you see it?
sRGB = The artist had no idea was sRGB was (he is not really helpful at all...).
Any suggestions on how to get my images back...? Thanks so much.

  • Why do my raws look different when I view them in Adobe Bridge/Adobe Camera Raw and Canons Digital P

    Hello all,
I am sorta new to taking Raw photographs and I have been been using Adobe Bridge/Camera Raw to edit. When I take my photos (I am using a Canon t2i) I have it set to save a raw and a jpg. When I view these images in Adobe Bridge/Camera Raw I notice a clear difference in the jpg and raw (I understand the whole concept behind raw vs. jpg. so im not questioning why one looks different) It is obvious all the adjustments that were applied to my jpg. vs the natural raw.  My question is: When I view the same two images in the software that came with my camera, canon digital photo professionals, the canon and raw look almost identical.... My assumption is that canon is applying the same "adjustments" to my raw as it did to the jpgs?  Has anyone used these two programs and noticed this?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Can't say I'm an expert on DPP myself either.  I've only run it a few times myself.
If you're seeing Photoshop freeze just by looking at the File Info tab, that's certainly not expected and you should start a tread specifically to discuss that.  The forum may be able to help you get that working.
I happen to like the color my camera delivers in its embedded JPEGs (which I use to quickly review shots via IrfanView).  Starting with that color in Camera Raw by default just feels very natural and integrated.
Without a specific custom profile to help you with the task, here's my suggestions for the next best thing:
    1.  Take an image with a range of different colors in it.
    2.  Open the embedded JPEG also using whatever means you have to do so.
    3.  Open it also in Camera Raw and make sure you're using the Camera Raw default parameters.
    4.  Go into the Camera Calibration tab (little camera icon), and choose the Camera Standard profile as provided by Adobe.
    5.  Tweak the various sliders so as to match the color between what you're seeing in the JPEG and Camera Raw.
    6.  Save new Camera Raw defaults.
    Some notes:
Make sure you leave the White Balance on As Shot, since storing a specific white balance is probably not going to be helpful.
Test your settings and repeat the above to tweak them as needed using other images.
Keep in mind that not every application does proper color-management.  IrfanView can be set up to do so, and I don't recall whether you have to tweak a default setting to make it do that or not (it's been a while).
    Hope this helps!

  • Why same custom designed item looks different on different MIDP phones?

Same MIDP application looks different on different phones, which is obvious. But the sizes of custom items are also looks different, which is some thing trouble some. IE the custom designed button of size say 50 X 20, looks proper on BlackBerry MIDP phone, but same button looks very small [cant even recognize] on Nokia MIDP phone. Why it is so?
Is there any way to design items as per the phone dimensions? Regards.
Note: I want to get standard item size, font size etc. so that I can use them directly. In this case on every device the designed items will look proper

The look depends on mainly three things, the screen size, screen resolution and dpi. Although dpi is related to the ration of screen size and screen resolution. If the dpi is higher, the same image or item will look smaller than from a device which has a lower dpi. Like the iPhone and BB Bold both has almost identical screen resolution, however Bold has a higher dpi so the same image or a html page looks smaller on Bold than it is in iPhone.

  • Why is it that iTunes looks different from all other apps again?

This might be a rather irrelevant question, yet I wonder: Why is it that iTunes doesn't look like the majority of other Apple apps? I guess it's mainly the scrolls bars and the check boxes. Not that I don't like the way iTunes look, I'm just curious why it has to look different when one of Leopard's goals was to make a more unified interface.
Can anyone enlighten me or is this something that only Apple knows?

"Besides, not all of us run Leapard, so wouldn't making iTunes look like leapard make it look different on all our systems that don't use leapard?"
That's a point But what I meant by that was that in Tiger there are many different kinds of windows where Apple in Leopard has tried to stick to just one. And that's why I think it's so weird that iTunes has to differ from all the rest.

  • Bug? Corrupt Tones / Colours - Image looks different in photoshop

    Hi,
Am hoping somebody can help me as I must be doing something really stupid here. I'm currently evaluating various workflow products, and really like Lightroom but find that whenever I import an image into LR the tones, particular shadow tones, look way too dark. They look kinda posterised.
My monitor is color calibrated with a spyder. I am running Windows XP.
I've attached a link to an image to demonstrate. I took an sRGB JPEG and imported into LR. I then edited a copy in PS (exported as ProPhoto - converted in PS to Adobe 1988 colorspace), another copy is shown exported to Capture NX (also Adobe colorspace).
    http://www.hamiltonconsulting.net/strange%20tones.jpg
if you look at the shadow tones in the folds of the jacket you can see a minor difference between PS and Capture NX but you can see a clear difference in LR. The shadows are way darker.
The image opens fine it every other application I have tried, including the free XP viewers. LR is doing something strange to the file but I cant work out what.
I first noticed the problem occuring in Beta 4.1 and am now getting the same issue in the new Lightroom demo ( I had hoped it was a bug that would have been fixed). I have been installing all sorts of evaluation software of late, so maybe something hasnt been cleaned out of my registry, or something is clashing.
So far, I've tried lots of different images (all with the same problem). Recreating an image database. Reinstalling LR (countless times).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try or do I need to reinstall my entire PC :-(

The image on the left in PS looks the same in Picasa Image
Viewer (I selected it to be color managed based on the monitor profile), looks the same in Windows Image Viewer, and looks the same in the thumbnail.  The image on the right in LR is how the picture looks when I look at my image in Firefox but in Internet Explorer and in Chrome, the image looks like the image on the left in PS.  The image below shows how the thumbnail looks different from the actual picture when it's double clicked and viewed in Picasa.  The thumbnail (which shows the subjects having green skin) would be how I saw it online while the double clicked version is how I saw it in PS, even though it was sRGB (I checked the image properties to make sure of the color space).
I have a ATI 5470 GPU on my ASUS 17.3 inch laptop.  Not sure about the drivers.

  • Why does my DW site look different depending on computer?

    Here are my specs...
I am using Dreamweaver CS4 on two computers.  One is a 64 bit windows 7 desktop with a 24" widescreen monitor, and the other is a 64 bit windows 7 17" widescreen laptop.  I access the site from both computers using a usb external drive (backed up every night). Because I travel a bit, I find that most of the site work I do is on the laptop.  As one would hope in a WYSIWYG environment, my design view on the laptop is pretty close to what the uploaded site looks like.  Very close.  However, when I do need to work on the desktop, the design view will show divs out of place, way over to the right or left as though pushed or something.  BUT, when I check the preview and/or upload the page and check it online--everything is fine.
I've learned to ignore it if I know it is not affecting the output, but it would be helpful if there is a way to have both views accurate.  Any ideas?

Thanks very much for looking at the code, and I didn't realize about the ampersands. I ran the validator tonight and wow, I'm embarrassed.  I went through and repaired a great deal in my main template page, and tomorrow I will have to go through the other pages and see if I have more. I'm sure I do.  While I was able to fix a lot of the errors, there are still some on this page (main template) that have me confused, and I welcome some wisdom.  After fixing as many errors as I could the following list has me stumped.
The reason I am stumped is because all of these lines are created by Dreamweaver.  I didn't write them.  I have attempted to change the order of the lines, but still come up with validation errrors just in a different order.  Here are the lines as the validation report refer to in my template:  I will put the corresponding numbers at the beginning of the appropriate lines...
Thank you for any suggestions anyone has.

  • Printing in Flex: why does print dialog box look different?

I'm starting to play with printing in Flex. I tried to run the "Example: A simple print job" here from the Adobe web site  (i.e. press demo button on Adobe web site and then press print button on demo) and get one print dialog box. The took the same code and pasted it in a Flash Builder Application file and ran the whole thing on the same computer (same OS, Windows 7, and same browser, Chrome) and  get a different looking print dialog box. The only difference I can see is that the example on the Adobe site is probably compiled using FB 4.5 and the one on my machine is compiled using FB4, but I have a hard time believing that would cause the difference, considering that the print dialog box should theoretically be an OS deal. A picture of the two dialog boxes is included below.
any ideas of what could be causing this?
    thank you!
    f

I believe that is a browser function.
The one problem that you are going to run into trying to make it look the same (if it is even possible which I doubt) is that many browsers don't even use Adobe Reader anymore. They have their own pdf viewers. Take Chrome in Mac for example. Not only does it not use Reader by default, you can't even make it use Reader.

  • Why does my Mac Mini look different on different displays

I have 3 HDTVs, 2 Samsung 40" LCD 1080p and a 50" Insignia Plasma 1080p. I have my 2009 Mac mini connected to my Samsung LN40a530 the picture quality is amazing, pictures are beautiful, text is extremely clear and colors look real and vivid. But as soon as I try connecting my Mac mini to my other television sets, the overall picture quality is very noticeably poor in comparison to the Samsung LN40a530. At first I had just the Samsung LN40a530 and the Insignia plamsa. I had figured the issue was the fact that one is LCD and one is plasma but I recently purchaced a Samsung LN40c550 LCD 1080p LCD and the same problem persisted. The colors are off for instance people look dark and orange, the text is blochy, the overall picture is just not very good. I have tried several times to adjust the settings on the Mac and the televisions with no luck. I find this very strange since both Samsung televisions are essentially the same tv. It's understandable with one being plasma and one being LCD but when the LCD and the plasma are having essentially the same issue it's very confusing. If anyone has had the same issue when switching monitors or televisions with a Mac mini any help would he great. Thanks

There is really only one setting on the Mac that can have such a dramatic affect. That would be the gamma setting. You get to the gamma setting when running through a color calibration on the Mac. You can check and see if gamma is the same when connected with the different TVs. Mac's typically default to 2.2 for computer displays but a setting of 1.8 is often needed for TVs, so that's worth looking into.
Outside of that setting, your attention should shift to the TVs. On you two Samsungs, do they have very similar menu arrangements? If so, try sitting down with a pencil and paper and write down all the settings for the good Samsung and then apply them to the bad one. I would think that would bring them very close into alignment for image quality.
Are all the TVs in question being hooked up the same way using the same cable and adapter? You didn't really say anything about how they are hooked up.

  • Why is my DW layout looking different from the browsers?  So confused...

    Hi guys,
I've been successfully struggling through my first attempt at building a website using Fireworks and DW CS4.  What has been puzzling me is that how the site looks in DW is not how it looks in my browser.  Oddly enough, all the browsers are displaying exactly what I want (so far), but in the DW layout, some of my images are overlapping.  It's as if I have to get them almost on top of each other just so they can appear close together in browsers.
This is making it somewhat tough to add my hyperlinks to images that are underneath the other ones and I am worried that I am doing something wrong.  I posted pictures of both the DW layout and what is showing up in the browsers I have checked (Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer all look the same).  Note:  The first pic on top is displaying in Firefox, the second pic beneath in the layout in DW.
    Thanks a million in advance

#1 Design View is the result of your underlying HTML & CSS code.  At best it's an approximation of what you can expect to see in browsers.  For best results, work in Split View or Code View.  Use Live View & Preview in browsers to test your layout.
#2 DW is not click & drag like your graphics apps.  If you're trying to work this way, you'll have poor results.
#3 Fireworks is great for creating web images & comps.  It's not so great at generating HTML code. Use DW to build your page layout.  If you're new to web design, it's much easier to start projects with a pre-built CSS Layout.  See DW Starter Pages below.

In any case, I would say it's a bug, albeit a minor one.
I don't think this is a bug, the references refere to a given CTL file, which is not present in the RTE, I think LabVIEW disconnects the reference form the typedef and only saves the properties needed.
