Why do shared iPhone photos embed instead of attach?

I've had iPhones going back to the 2G, and now have a 4 on 6.1.
Ever since upgrading to iOS 6, I've noticed that when I go to the Photo Roll and share a photo or multple photos and email them, they arrive as embedded images.
I used to get emails with JPEG attachments, and now they're just embedded.  I've been using Outlook 2010 for the past couple years, so I know that's not the issue, and it wasnt an issue on my iPhone 4 until I went to iOS 6.
Now I manually have to right click each image in the email I received and select "Save as Picture".  It's pretty cumbersome!
Anyone know how I can get this thing to start attaching rather than embedding?  Thanks in advance...

  • Why are my iPhone photos cloudy looking?

Why are my iPhone photos smokey looking?

my iphone 4 pictures have ALWAYS been sharp and crystal clear, recently they are extremely grainy and blury.  I do not have anything blocking the camera lens and have even cleaned any smudges but I am experiencing the same thing.  When i look at photos i took last month compared to recent weeks, they are horrible!

  • Why did my iPhone photos get deleted and can I recover them?

An entire album's worth of photos were deleted and I want to know why and if I can recover them.
I have an iPhone 4S on iOS 6, iTunes 10, PC user.  Under "photo albums" I created a new album called "job photos" which I've been moving photos to as needed.  Today I took a bunch of picutures at work with my iPhone, and before I got to my computer I moved them over from the "camera roll" to the "job photos" album, then deleted the originals in "camera roll".  Everything worked fine until I synced the phone to iTunes.
Up until today I've been syncing a folder on my PC with a bunch of photos to my iPhone.  In order to save space on the phone I unchecked the "sync" box to stop syncing those photos.  After the phone was done syncing not only was my PC album gone but all the photos in my "job photos" album were gone too.  ***?
Why did this happen and is there a way to recover the photos I just lost?  My iPhone wasn't backed up so I wouldn't be able to do a backup recovery.  Please help.

You lost the photos because the actual data is in Camera Roll.  When you see pix in albums, it is by virtue of pointers to the actual storage in Camera Roll.  Otherwise, you would be using up storage by creating albums.  SO, do not delete from Camera Roll until you have copied to your PC.

  • Why is my iPhone photo library so big?

I am trying to make space on my phone to take photos at an event this weekend. I went in and deleted nearly all of the photos in my library, everything off my photo stream, then went to the 'deleted photos' and did "delete all." I currently have 17 photos in my Camera Roll, 31 in My Photo Stream, 1 video that is 2:20 long, and 0 Recently Deleted. This shouldn't take up that much space, but when I go to Manage Storage, it tells me that "Photos & Camera" is using 4.1GB of storage: 4.1 GB in Photo Library, 30.3 MB in My Photo Stream and 5.7 MB in Shared Photo Stream.
How can 17 photos take up 4.1 GB?? What's going on here and how can I fix it??

If you have already emptied the Recently Deleted album, and still have phantom photos,  check this post:
Have a look at this solution:  There are apparently more users suffering from phantom photos that cannot be deleted:  Changing the date makes the photos in "Recently deleted" visible again:

Re: More photos in settings than photos app showsin response to morganfaith6
I managed to get rid of the phantom usage. Restoring iPhone and resetting the phone settings/data do not work for me.
I had to move the Date on my phone earlier by 1,2,3 months and found the phantom photos in the Recently Deleted Folder. Next, I deleted the photos manually from the Recently Deleted Folder and the usage got freed up from my iPhone.

  • Why are my iPhone photos not appearing in photo stream?

When I first downloaded iCloud photos taken on my iphone automatically apeared in photo stream on my macbook.  This is not happening anymore.  I have automatic photo steam enabled in settings and iphoto preferences.

On your iPhone tap Settings > iCoud
Switch Photo Stream off then back on then restart the device.
Restart your device: Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears.  Slide to power off.  After it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.

  • Why are my iPhone photo stream photos from iPhone 5s not appearing on my iPad Air?

Been on hols. Took pics on phone. No wifi for iPad so expected them to be in photo stream when I eventually got wifi connection but nothing is appearing. I'm sure this shouldn't happen. Any help appreciated.

    Hi hairyfairy,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're running into an issue where photos from your iPhone aren't appearing in My Photo Stream. Is your iPhone connected to Wi-Fi and is the Camera app closed? The article below provides a lot of information and troubleshooting suggestions for similar issues, including providing details about when photos are uploaded from an iOS device to My Photo Stream.
    iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
When do photos upload to My Photo Stream?
When you turn on My Photo Stream on your devices, all new photos you take or import to those devices will automatically push to your photo stream.
iOS devices: New photos that you take automatically upload to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and connect to Wi-Fi. My Photo Stream doesn't push photos over cellular connections.
    I hope this helps.

  • Why does my iPhone send texts instead of iMessages occasionally?

I will be in a lengthy conversion and I will look back at the conversation and several of my messages will have been sent as texts. These cost me a fee every single time. Why can't iMessage send iMessages each time? This problem causes iMessage to be of little or no use to me because rather than saving me money it is costing me money. Do I literally have to stop and verify each time that it isn't sending a text? How can I force my phone not to send texts at all, only iMessages to my iMessage users?

I'm not sure you read my post correctly. I am in a lengthy conversation and SOME of my messages will be texts. Some of them are also sent as iMessages. This means that I am conversing with an iPhone and that they have iMessage turned on. iMessaging a non-iPhone would is obviously impossible. So, it is a phone that I was sending iMessages to and at some point they changed over to texts but I didn't notice because I was in a conversation and assumed they would keep sending as iMessages.  In my view, it should notify you or something if you've just sent an iMessage to someone and then a few seconds later you send another message and it turns out to be a text. It makes it rather difficult to use since you have to verify every single time your reply is indeed being sent as an iMessage.

  • Why won't iPhone photos import into iPhoto?

When I try to import photos from iPhone 4S to iPhoto '08 I get a message saying it doesn't recognize the files. I can see the photos fine on my phone and can even text message and email them without any problem. Every time I try to import new photos I get this same message. Therefore, I have not been able to import any new photos or videos I've taken for over a month. Please, anyone out there know how to solve this problem?

Good to read and note error messages - it turns out that there is a reason to have them - they often explain problems and the solution to the problem
Do you have any new photos in the camera roll that have not been previously imported? have you triedPhotoStream - that is generally the prefered way to import photos now? What happens when you click on the phone in the source pane?

  • Why do my iPhone photos import all scrambled?

Some but not all of my photos import with this scrambling through them. They don't appear like this until they are imported through iPhoto. Any help?

This is an ongoing issue for some users. There is no definitive fix. Some foks find that a second attempt at a download will get damaged photos without any issues.

  • Why can't i edit my iPhone photos

I just gathered together my vacation pictures, from a photographer, my point&shoot and from 2 iPhones.  For some reason, in iPhoto - I am not able to edit the iPhone photos.  It gives me an error message saying that they are not editable...  ugh!  why?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Why are some of my iphone photos resizing when i import them to iphoto?

although most of the photos from my iphone import to iphoto at 2592 x 1936 for a regular iphone photo and 1936 x 1936 for an instagram photo, for some unbeknowst reason, some of the pictures come out as 640 x 480 / 480 x 480... i have no idea why, i haven't done anything different as far as i know?
anyone have any idea what causes it and how i can stop it? also is there any way to get them back to the proper size because i usually delete the pictures straight off my phone once i've imported them.
    thanks x

Not positive what is causing this but I'm pretty sure it is not caused by the iPhoto import process. The import process from a digital camera, camera storage card, or from an iPhone or iOS device does not change the size/dimension/resolution of photos being imported.
