Why do short video clips take forever to load?

With apologies for coming to you good folks with an issue than any twit should already know how to solve . . .
I was thrilled when your excellent instructions helped me load flash player successfully.  I was able to preview quite a few video clips to show my Fine Arts Survey class.  Then just yesterday everything slowed down to slower than a snail's pace.  Even the shortest video clips at youtube are taking forever.  Can you give me some leads on things to check?  Does something build up with every new video clip watched?  I do a huge amount of browsing (internet explorer) and searching (ixquick), but it is a necessary evil for engaging teens in a survey course.
I do see tiny pop-ups that ask if Adobe can save something on my computer.  Am I an idiot?
Any leads or links you may be able to share will be appreciated,
jmw

Since you mention Internet Explorer, I assume that you are on Windows.
Do you sometimes clear your browser cache?  (Tools | Internet Options | tab General | Delete browsing history)
Do you sometimes clear Flash Player local storage?  (Control Panel | Flash Player Settings Manager | tab Storage | Delete all)
Does enable/disable Hardware Acceleration make any difference?  (See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/891337)
Do you have the latest graphics drivers installed?  (See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765)
Finally, is your Internet connection stable?

  • Why does do Apple discussions take forever to load on MBP compared to PC?

I am sitting at a lab computer (PC) and realized that my MBP loads discussions.apple.com super slowly. What's the reason? Is it Safari? Cause I find that Safari loads up pretty quickly, but once in operation, it's pretty slow actually.

I'm with Ian on this one. I use a PC at work and a MBP at home and when the servers are behaving, I see very little difference in page loading speed. The servers have been horrible in the past week or so, slow and going off-line quite often. They seem to be better yesterday and today.

  • Why does my iphone 3gs take forever to load withgame center

So i recently started to use my iPhone 3GS and when I played a game, it asked me to sign in, so i did and it kept loading and loading and i left it on for 20 minutes and it still didn't login. Is there any way to fix this? By the way, i'm using iOS 6.1.3

    Hey there KyleVH,
It sounds like you are having issues signing into Game Center on your phone. I would use these troubleshooting steps from the following article to help get that working correctly again:
    Using Game Center
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4314
If you can't create or sign in to Game Center from within a game, create or sign in to your account using the Game Center app.
Sign out of Game Center, then sign back in. If you can't sign in to Game Center with an Apple ID, reset your password or use another email address. To manage your Apple ID, go to My Apple ID.
When using a Wi-Fi connection, make sure that your Wi-Fi router is configured for Game Center.
If you're on a Mac and still can't sign in, continue with the steps to resolve sign in issues.
If you have an issue with a Game Center game:
Make sure that you have the latest version of the game. To check for updates, open App Store and choose Updates.
Test your connection using a different game. If you can't connect with a specific friend or player in multiple games, they may need to check their Wi-Fi connection and router settings.
On iOS, try opening the game from the Home screen, rather than from within Game Center.
If you can't create or sign in to Game Center from within a game, create or sign in to your account using the Game Center app.
If the issue persists, or certain features of a game aren't working as expected (leaderboards, achievements, and so on), use the App Store to report the problem to the developer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • Why do Youtube video clips and all others, for that matter, take hours to load and never play properly?

My java script is enabled, my machine running latest versions of Firefox and Windows and yet it is impossible to download and play any video clips as it takes forever to load and play and still does not play the clips as they were intended.

  • Why do thumbnails take forever to load?

As the title suggests - why do the thumbnails take forever to load?. It is incredibly frustrating as I'm dealing with over 500 clips and I have to wait for these thumbnails to load. I come from Avid and decided to switch to Premier because of the available workflows. I've never had this issue using Avid so I know for sure it has nothing to do with my system. Any ideas? Furthermore, the media say that it is pending every now and them, why is this?

Same issue. I've chatted with customer support and I'll summarize how helpful they were.
Customer support took control of my computer in order to try and resolve the problem. I'm not sure what they did but they made everything WORSE. They deleted all my cache and did a whole bunch of other crap. Thumbnails don't load anymore - period. Questions regarding my other concerns - media pending, videos not playing, audio not importing - were completely ignored. Now here is where it gets better. This guy helping me out didn't respond for 30 minutes, I was wondering if he was further looking into it, but then it hit 7PM, when customer service closes. Apparently when the going gets tough and they have no idea how to resolve a situation, Adobe bleeds out and waits for 7PM to hit so they can just brush us off. I'm pissed.
Looks like I'm going back to Avid and just round trip to Divinci.

  • Quicktime videos take forever to load on my system

Is it me alone, or does anyone have the same problem? I have a excellent system, and nothing takes forever to load on it, only Quicktime videos. The only reason why I use quicktime on my XP machine is to watch the videos that are downloaded from my Kodak camera memory card since the camera saves its video files as quicktime videos, but it takes forever for the video files to load after I have downloaded them and saved them into a folder on my system. When I want to go back and view the videos, the folder freezes until all the videos, even if it is only one video in the folder loads. Why is that? Other video files load immediatley from avi, wmv,to divx, etc.
    Does anybody have a solution?

  • Why would my video clips be running too fast when played on the monitor panel?

I posted my problem earlier today, but re-reading it maybe I didn't explain myself well enough.
My main question is: "why would my video clips be running too fast when played on the monitor panel ?".  This is occuring after I have selected my media from the Tasks Panel and placed them in correct order in the Timeline/Sceneline.  I knew something was wrong when I could see that the clips were not indicating their right length when viewed in the (expanded) timeline.  They were compressed into just a few seconds, whereas the clips should have been at least 5 minutes.  I ran the clips in the monitor and sure enough they ran too fast, with a lot of jerking movements.
The 3 video clips I am trying to make into a HD PAL video were taken with my Nokia N8 mobile video camera. These are in mp4 format. Can this present a problem ?  Note that when I play these individual HD clips on my computer in (Windows Media Player) they run fine.
After I placed the clips in my Project Panel (or before in the Organize Workspace), I have perforned no change or manipulation of the clips.  They are in their original state.
Just too confirm that the clips did seem to be compressed, I burnt a DVD, the resultant video ran in a matter of seconds.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is what the problem was.
Although the video camera on my Nokia N8, mobile was capturing at 25fps,
for some reason once transfered over to PrE9 (via file transfer), the clip was interpreted as 500fps.  Once in Interpret Footage I was able to change the fps to 25.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Why is the Video clip jumpy?

Why is the Video clip jumpy? I have just installed Premiere Elements 12 in a brand new computer:
    Acer Aspire V5
CPU AMD Dual Core Processor a-4 APU with Radeon (TM HD Graphics 1.0 GHz)
    4GB DDR3 memory

Lots of ways to go on this. But, I think starting with a definition of the source media and how you are setting up the project is going to be the path to success. So, we need to zero in on questions/answers related to what I wrote earlier
The properties of the source media need expanding up beyond "file types are AVI, AVCHD, and MOV.
    a. What are the video and audio compression of the files with the .avi file extension and what is the frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, pixel aspect ratio?
    b. What is the file extension for the file with the AVCHD video compression. Again, what is the frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, pixel aspect ratio?
    c. What are the video and audio compression of the files with the .mov file extension and what is the frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, pixel aspect ratio?
You asked how to go about that. The best way is to run each of the file types through a video properties read out program such as MediaInfo
    http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
Latest versions of that MediaInfo have been problematic in that you need to be on guard for any unwanted toolbars and installed "extra" programs (bloatware).
    OR
We would not necessarily get more information, but we would get enough to put us in a good position, if we run the types through gspot utility (good for codec and basic information)...less bloatware concerns
    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
The dialog that you would get from gspot would look like
Once we know the video and audio codecs, frame size, frames rates, interlaced or progressive frame rates, etc. that we are dealing with, we on a good course to set up the project settings to match those properties, independant of whatever export choices we have in mind. That we will address later after a successful import and edit.
    OR
A third choice for getting at this information is less productive but can be a good last resort...knowing the brand/model/recording settings of the camera from which these files came.
Please review and then let us know if you can gather the file properties information details requested.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thank you.

  • Can I invert a short video clip so that it is upright?

I need to turn a short video clip upright to be part of a slide show. how can i edit this clip? Please respond. Thank you!!
    <Email Edited By Host>

You would need to to that with QT Player 7 with QT Pro installed.  iMovie can rotate the movie also.
I've used QT Pro for a long time now and have found it to be invaluable in trimming and joining videos as well as rotating.
You can search MacUpdate.com for "video editor" or "movie editor" to see what other editing options are available.

  • Procedure and Format for emailing a short video clip from iMovie 08

I use one of the new Panasonic HiDef AVCHD digital video cameras. iMovie 08 works great, no complaints there. From time to time I would like to email very short (5-20 second) video clips, rather than putting them up on iWeb, YouTube, etc.
There are so many "sharing" options, and I haven't had much luck with emailing these short clips. Many of the recipients are Windows users, so I'm not sure QuickTime is the answer. What is the best way to email short video clips from iMovie 08?

What is the best way to email short video clips from iMovie 08?
Assuming you and your recipients' mail clients all allow attachments up to 10 MBs, then a 20-second clip can have a combined data rate of up to 500 KB/s (4.0Mbit/s). This means you can use any share/export compressions format option available to you from within iMovie '08. Therefore, the real question becomes, what compression formats can your recipients play. Have you tried asking them to see if there is a single compression format that everyone can play? If no QT compression format is compatible everyone, then you will likely have to perform a secondary conversion to one that will be compatible. H.264/AAC would provide the smallest files for a given level of quality but require QT 7 (or similar multi-media player). MPEG4/AAC would probably be the most compatible format you can export directly from within iMovie '08. (Would have recommended Sorenson 3/IMA but data rate limitation appears to be ignored.) MPEG-1 files can probably be played by everyone but have higher data rate requirements which may restrict files to SD dimensions and require additional software to create external to iMovie '08. DivX or WMV would probably make your Windows users happy but requires Mac users to have a compatible component for viewing in the QT Player.
Try the "Export using QuickTime" Share menu option ("Movie to MPEG-4") settings:
    Video
    MP4 File Type
    MPEG-4 Improved Compressor
Data rate in the range from 1,000 (640x480) to 3800 (near HD dimensions)
    Current (or user specified) dimensions
    Current Frame Rate
    Key Frame every 24 frames
    Audio:
    AAC-LC Music
    Mono
    64 Kbps Data Rate
    44.1 KHz Sampling Rate
    Better Quality

  • How to compress a short video clip to e-mail

Trying to figure out how to compress a short video clip to e-mail. Not sure how to do this thanks

    Sarah,
When you export/share your video you have a choice of formats.
Windows Media is a good option and you can choose a preset. Some of the options are DSL/Cable, Dialup, and others.
Steve's book has a nice section on Sharing Options, and he has a very nice article posted at Muvipix.com as well.

  • Sharing a short video clip

Please help. I have a short video clip that someone needs to see tomorrow. It is only two minutes long. I tried sending it every which way. I put it in my Idisk public folder. Did an Iweb thing. Saw it clear but it never got published. Tried to send it as an attachment, didn't work. It needs to be as clear as possible. Which way would be the best to send it so it would be the clearest?

I was able to publish it to iweb and it came out nice enough, but small as you know. I was able to make a .dv but it was too big like you said. Then in imovie i went under share and tried everyway that there was. I did install a free quicktime download which i know I already had, but I did it again and it helped. I was able to make a little .mov file and attach it to an email, but when I got up this morning and played the clip i sent to myself it said something that I did not recognize the file.................I think I may be ok just sending this little clip with an iweb page. My friend needed a clip made of a machine someone is selling and he needs to make a presentation on it today. He did next day air a DVD I made for him so hopefully he will get that on time. My friend who is a photographer and sent him a VHS of it originally and the client wanted a dvd. I burned him a DVD and then had to go back to work. My friend then said all it was was a continuous loup of some of the clips and they were all in black and white. Was a little concerned until I asked him if he hit "play" on his dvd player. I guess he never got out of dvd mode.
Oh, and I was trying to put it in my idisk shared file, but isn't that something that only someone with a mac can see? jillybean
