Why do smartforms take so long to activate?
I have a moderately simple smartform.
Page1
about 10 nodes with a table in main, two graphics
Next Page
Last Page
about 5 nodes
It takes 5 minutes to activate! Anyone know why or if this can be improved? Do most smartforms take soooo long?
Olivier

I hope this helps some. I did not notice any new buttons appearing but there are a number of IT's now listed in the results.
If you do post a change request. Here are some other bugs and anoyances that I would like to see addressed:
Other problems with smart forms
1. Global Definitions - Initialization section
- no clean way to add and remove parameters. Gaps seem to cause no problems. Some add/remove buttons like on the Global Data section would be nice.
2. Print preview problems
- bug with color graphics: See my Thread: smartform preview dump when color graphics in form - crash on page down if color graphics in form.
- Loop texts do not line up vertically in the preview - looks ragged on left. Printing seeems fine though.
3. Double click on compile errors does nothing - even worse it sometimes puts line breaks in odd places in your initialization code.
4. Cannot copy windows from one smartform to another
Best regards,
Olivier

Why does it take so long to activate a downloaded purchase? .
It should be instantaneous. After 12 hours my purchase is still pending. It's really bad customer service. And of course, no one to call on a weekend. Who is doing the fullfillment for Adobe?
Hi,
I apologize for the inconvenience you had to go through over the weekend.
I assume that you subscribed to Acrobat Plus and you cannot download Acrobat XI Pro to your computer. Please let us know which OS and browser you are using.
Thank you.

What's wrong with this Forum? Why does Adobe take so long to reply to posts?!
What's wrong with this Forum? Why does Adobe take so long to reply to posts?!
This is actually "specific" to this Photoshop Forum.
I typically get responses back from other Adobe forum promptly.
Chime in.The Adobe engineering folks DO duck in here from time to time - and that's a BLESSING! Please name any other big company where you get to interact with the engineers AT ALL. I can't. But I suspect the engineers actually have a lot oof real work to do, and their time here is necessarily limited.
Your comments are more along the line of "I pay a huge amount, for that I expect better support". These are very valid comments. But reality is different from what we may expect, and this forum is not the place to expect Adobe support participation AT ALL. In fact, the technical support people at Adobe often direct users to come here (something I've always found amusing).
At the higher level, Adobe may simply not be spending enough on support for literally millions of users. Is is greed or smart business to try to minimize support cost? That's up for individuals to decide.
I suggest you write a snail-mail letter to the Adobe president if you're not getting the support you need.

Why does it take so long to recognize my camera?
I have a Canon EOS Rebel XS. When I plug it in, iPhoto jumps up and is in front on the screen, as it should, but then it takes 8 or 10 minutes for it to be identified and booted up into the sidebar. I just watch the wheels turn and the red light flicker, but it takes EIGHT or MORE minutes to be recognized!! And, sometimes the camera times itself out. Here is my question . . . WHY WHY WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG TO BE RECOGNIZED?!?!?!!? I could deal with 30 seconds, but this is just ridiculous. Is this a Canon issue? A driver issue? Heaven forbid, an Apple issue? Does anybody have any insight on this or the same kind of experience?
MikeNext time you import reformat the card with the Camera - remember this will erase the card, so make sure you've emptied it first. Oh, and the use of block capitals is very impressive. Doesn't make it look like a tantrum at all.

on my mac why does it take so long to send a Email with an attachment, on my mac why does it take so lone to send a Email with an attachment
It depends on the size of the attachment and the speed of your internet connection.
Next time you send an email with an attachment do these two things:
In Apple Mail (I assume you are using Apple Mail), under the Window menu select Activity. Arrange the Activity window so you can see it.
Then open the separate application located in the Utilities folder called "Activity Monitor" and arrange it so you can see it at the same time as the Activity window in Mail.
In Activity Monitor program, select the tab labeled "Network." Watch the "Data sent/sec" portion. Then send your email, while watching the Mail Activity window and also the Activity Monitor program window Data sent/sec area.
You should see the mail being sent with a progress bar in the Mail Activity window and also you should be able to see how many bytes/sec or KB/sec or MB/sec your internet connection is giving you in the Activity Monitor window.
Example: my internet provider gives me about 20 Megabits per second download and 5 Megabits per second upload. To convert these to Megabytes per second (Activity Monitor shows things in bytes, not bits), simply divide by 10 (not the exact thing to do, but close enough). So I get 0.5 Megabytes per second upload speed. When I send a file that is 5 Megabytes in size, it takes about 10 seconds if I am getting the full upload bandwidth. If I am getting less than that (which sometimes happens), it will take proportionately more time. Either way, you can see what is happening with these two windows.
If your internet provider is supposed to give you, say, 5 Megabits/sec upload (0.5 Megabytes/sec), but you see only say, 5 KB/sec (=0.005 Megabytes/sec), sent in Activity Monitor, then your emails are taking a long time because you are getting only abut 1/100 the speed you should be. You might want to check with your internet provider about that. -
When uploading, what are "previews" and why do they take so long?
After selecting photos from iPhoto library to upload and hitting upload all the photos were accessible in a reasonable amount of time.
However, then a message stated that "previews are uploading." I can see thumbnails and enlarge all my photos in Revel ..so what is a "Preview" file? Why do they take so long to upload? Is the Preview the same as a full-size file?
Also, of the 3,000 images I chose Revel excluded 72. (not dupes...they were separately counted). How do I know which ones were not selected? And WHY?Richard, Thank you.
I am using a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.2. There are no RAW files and no xmp's. Corrupt files are possible.
I have noticed that today the "previews" finished uploading. And now the "originals" are beginning to uload. If 3,600 previews took almost 4 days to upload, i can expect 3,600 originals will take much longer. The internet speed is medium @ 1.5.
My iPhoto library has 12,000 photos and only a few videos. I don't think I will live long enough to try uploading a duplicate library via a web client at Adoberevel.com (laughing) I doubt that at this rate I'll be able to upload even half to Revel in the 1st 30 days. -

Why does it take so long to download movies
Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this atwww.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps. -
Why do titles take so long to render?
I have to continually stop and wait for my title to render every time I make a small change. This eats up a lot of my time. So, why do titles take so long to render?
I am sorry all but I am seriously rethinking my potential switch to FCPX. I am in the fifth hour of rendering a 1-minute 10 second title. I really cannot move on because I need to see what is happening. The entire project hangs and I get the spinning beach ball of death (SBBOD) if I try to do anything else. This all reminds me of when I had fairly large applications on my 9500 and it would get so far behind in executing commands that I had to stop, walk away, to let the computer catchup. This should NOT happen on a 8-core (16 virtual) MacPro 4.1 with 20Gs of RAM.This just *****!

Why does syncing take so long? 2GB is taking 215 hours
Why does syncing take so long? 2GB is taking 215 hours
Thats a fair enough comment, but I would have thought that syncing a mere 2GB of data, 215 hours seems a bit ridiculous, especially as it's not explained very well on the Adobe Cloud exactly what syncing is and how it benefits me. My internet connection is BT broadband and my download speed is 10 Mb/s, upload is 0.261 Mb/s crap I know.

Why does it take so long to upload? Am I doing something wrong?
At the moment it takes a few hours(!) to upload about ten pages on one site. Just pictures. iPhoto used to publish within five minutes. Why does it take so long? Am I doing something wrong, like having it on a weird setting? It looks beautiful, but not very impressed with iWeb functionality as of yet.
don't know if i can downgrade the file sizes, am just selecting the photos in iphoto and then clicking iweb so it should do it automatically. it shouldn't take hours though should it? the site address is web.mac.com/adilamin/iWeb but there is no problem with accessing the site and loading the pics, its just the uploading from iWeb.

Why does it take so long to delivery?!
Ordered my Macbook pro today. Dispatch date for the whole order is 1-3 business days. Delivery estimate is 19th - 23rd January (today is the 31st December!!) so why does it take so long for the courier to deliver?? That's over 3 weeks away and a long time between dispatch and delivery!
I'm lucky enough there is one in Southampton where I live and there are two in Bristol where I study so I could easily go and pick one up! Infact I think there is a store within an hours drive of anyone in the UK now, plus there are official Apple stalls (with Apple staff and Genius bar) in most electronic superstores. So not too hard to find!
However, the issue is that I'll be paying for my Pro through finance (Barclays in the UK) so I don't really want to have to cancel that as they do a credit check on you and I'm afraid applying for finance again would affect my rating so I'm not too keen on doing that.
And before any of you suggest it, my finance has already been approved and Barclays will credit Apple within one business day (Tuesday, after the New Year public holiday on Monday) so this is not a reason for the delivery to be slowed up.
Out of interest I went onto the store again and added all my items to the basket. I ordered a MacBook Pro (standard 2.4 GHz 500GB model), Microsoft Office for Mac and Apple Care under university pricing and the delivery estimate was for the 4th January. So I'm wondering what could have possibly delayed my order!! -
Why does it take so long to receive your itunes receipt
When you buy something on itunes why does it take so long to receive the receipt??
Because the receipt usually gathers all your purchases over the course of a week or so and combines them into one receipt. Do you really want a receipt for every app or song you download??

Why does it take so long to upload pictures from iphote to AppleTV
Why does it take so long to upload pictures from iphoto to AppleTV? It takes hours to see a folder created in iPhoto to finally display on AppleTV.
Do you mean that you are importing music from an audio CD into iTunes? If so, the most likely causes of slow speeds are limitations of the CD drive you are using and/or the CD being dirty or damaged. If you turn on error correction within iTunes this can slow down the import process if it is repeatedly re-reading the same data before it gets a repeatable result (though it is a good idea to always have error connection enabled as the alternative is audible errors in the results). Depending on which system I'm using typical CD reading speeds vary between 5x and 12x (so a nominal 74 min CD imports in 6-15 min).
Importing a CD has nothing to do with your internet connection (which is only used to look up the song titles, etc. before you start importing).
However, if you are downloading music from the iTunes store or another internet retailer such as Amazon, I'd expect an album's worth of m4a/mp3 files to download in 1-2 minutes on a typical broadband connection. If this is what you're doing, and its taking an hour to complete, then there's a problem with the broadband connection itself or with how your PC is set up to use it. -

why does it take so long to send emails on my ipad?
This is dependent on a lot of things, 3G or Wi-Fi? Any attachments in the email which may take a long time to upload, length of the email in general, corporate security checks could be in place and slowing it down as well?

Why does it take so long to convert my PDF to word.docx? It has been going for more than 30 minutes.
There could be several reasons. It may be that Acrobat spent that time trying and ran into too many bottlenecks. As a test you might print the PDF to a new PDF and try the conversion on the new PDF. It might be there is a problem with the original PDF that the print process would fix..
