Why do some keyboard shortcuts just stop working?

Since upgrading to Lion, some of my keyboard shortcuts - especially one for Mail - just stops working now and then and the only thing I can figure out to fix it is to restart the macbook.
The main one I've had trouble with is ⌘+ enter to send a message.
It seems (unreal, I know) that certain messages disable it in replies.
Any other way you can think of to reset the keystroke other than restarting?

Hi there
Sounds like the project has somehow become corrupt. You may need to create a new project and copy/paste slides. You may also find that this will transfer over the issue. So it could be limited to a specific slide or even a single object on a slide.

Why did the keyboard shortcuts just stop working?

I'm a little bit annoyed. I had several shortcuts set on my phone that I used often (my email address, phone number, things like that) and now they just don't work AT ALL. I've looked up some quick fixes, but none of them work. I take that back, the "add a new one and delete it" suggestion worked once, but the next day it stopped working. I just hope Apple is aware of this issue and it's fixed with the next update.

Some Keyboard Shortcuts No Longer Working in Apps

Recently, two specific keyboard shortcuts have stopped working within all my apps:
command-1
command-2
For example, in Final Draft they are supposed to switch formatting to become scene headings and action lines, respectively. All the other command shortcuts still work. In Word, I have command-1 through command-6 commands set to change text colors. Command-1 and command-2 no longer work but the rest stil function properly.
All of my shortcuts worked perfectly for well over a year. Anyone know why two of them might have stopped all of a sudden?

Here's the second way:
While logged into the newly created admin account, backup the bad account's folder, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option (which is stored in /Users/Deleted Users/ as a disk image), recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files is a laborious process. Good luck.

Services/Keyboard Shortcuts Suddenly Stop Working

Hi,
I have had a problem for the past month or two relating to services/keyboard shortcuts that I have created in 10.10. I have had these same shortcuts for approximately 18 months and they worked fine on previous versions of OS X but since 10.10 they stop working after approximately 30-40mins. As I say it is only in 10.10 in 10.9 they worked all day every day without a problem.
I have created a service which allows me to right click on a directory of images and select a name to rename all the images within that directory in descending order. I have also created a keyboard shortcut that allows me to launch the Chrome App Launcher.
When I boot up the keyboard shortcut works fine. When I right click on a directory I see the services menu with all the services I have added. But after 30 minutes or so the keyboard shortcut no longer works (Apples on built in keyboard shortcuts work as they should) and if I right click on a directory the services entry is missing but apples own services appear at the bottom, the ones I have created created don't.
If I try to access services through the menubar the services I have created are missing but apples own services are still there. In the services menu my keyboard shortcuts also appear but clicking on them does nothing.
I have 2 images which show a before 30 mins how my context menu/menubar menu look and after 30 mins.
I hope my question and images make sense and someone can help me find a remedy for this.

In MAC 10.7 or later the Library is hidden. I sent you a link in the above post to unhide library , you can refer to that. Once its open you can navigate to Indesign locations and do the needful.
Steps to access hidden Library on MAC.
Open Finder.
On the top left there will be a option GO.
Click on Go and Go to Folder.
Type ~/Library and click on Go, it will open hidden Library.

Multicamera keyboard shortcut keys stopped working

PP 2014.0.1 release.
My keyboard shortcut keys (standard: 0,1,2) were working, but they stopped working mid-edit. Restarting the application did not fix this. Mouse works - but what a crappy way to select a camera.
Any suggestions?

To answer my own question:
I discovered that the Multicamera track in the timeline must be targeted (enabled in the track header in the timeline) or the keyboard shortcuts to select a camera do not work. (I don't know how my track became untargeted, but it did.)
Although I understand how a keyboard shortcut will change the current clip in the multicamera sequence to the associated camera, the keyboard shortcut is strongly associated as input to the multicamera window, not the timeline. After all, I click on a camera view in the Multicamera program monitor to select that camera. I don't click in the timeline to do that. So It's not at all obvious that the multicamera track must be targeted for camera selection to work.
I find it confusing.
Do other users consider this a bug or good design?

Some keyboard shortcuts are not working

I have found a few keyboard shortcuts that don't work, no matter what you set the shortcut to. I only found two, and they are "Show Desktop", and "Show Launchpad". I have set them to many different combinations, none of which seem to work. every once in a while, it will work, but after my computer goes to sleep, it doesn't work again. It only works some of the times after I restart or shutdown. When I open the shortcut tab under the keyboard settings menu, it always defaults to the screenshots tab, and I don't know if this is a bug or not.

there may be a conflict with some system-level shortcuts, for instance the shortcuts in the System Prefs for Dashboard and Expose default to F9, F10, F11, which will supersede the default FCP shortcuts for insert, overwrite, and replace edits.
Check your keyboard layouts in FCP - if the shortcuts are assigned, then check those two System Prefs panes (keyboard, Dashboard & Expose) for system-level shortcuts that might be conflicting.

Keyboard & Mousepad Just Stops Working

About 4 days ago, my Pbook G4 would just suddenly stop letting me type or move the mouse. What ever was going on in the screen continues to work normally, but the keyboard doesn't. The only button still functional is the power button. I tried plugging in an external keyboard and mouse, but that was useless. Can anyone help?
Also, the only most recent thing I had done was install the Safari update that my software update asked me too.

I had same problem and had keyboard replaced at Apple authorized repair center. Keyboard still stops working on occasion. Problem started earlier this year. I believe it is software related.

Some keyboard shortcuts in Mail OS 10.9 don't work

Some keyboard shortcuts no longer work. Such as [option page-down] for moving down a page at a time of email subjects. Control Page Down doesn't work either. Others are wacky and give different results such as Function right arrow does the same thing as End and Function left arrow does the same thing as Home which is a bit redundant.
Did they change to a different combination of keystrokes are were they left out? Thanks to anyone that can find out. -Derryl

I found a way to fix it. Simply restart the dock by using "killall Dock" in the terminal.

My mac book pro is costing more then I can cope with . its on its third logic board and now 18 months down the line its packed up again this time no warrantee .
I’m a student living of saving here in Borneo. age 51 so can get work doing a degree in digital photography with the OCA ,OMG when I bought my mac. For help i could not wish for better service . I missed renewing the warrantee by 1 week when i was back in the UK so when i went to renew could not . now the logic board had packed up again and a bill for 500 UK 2500 rm . Its just not adding up justification 0
This if i cant get it working going to set me back 5 years . What to do. I plead anyone got a logic board they can replace cheap?
And any way to look into why these logic boards, WHY they just stop working for no reason. They seem so un reliable after all the reading I have done on line. And for the cost. OMG I wish i stayed with a normal lap top . My last one lasted 7 years like this PC Help mac I need help.
Symptoms none !
I was doing video editing from my I movie from the 1 t bite HD it was on the cool tray i shut everything down to go to bed, but the lap top in the other room as was off for the week end. came back. and nothing. light come on. drive whirls . no other light. I put a leopard disk in . optic drive did some thing then stopped. the left side starts to get hot. Still nothing. Closed it and opened . tried to boot from partition nothing.
WHY WHY WHY? Must be some answerer as other computers like my old Toshiba never have this trouble.

Why are my keyboard shortcuts all of a sudden not working? Even in Photoshop?!

I'm a bit unclear on the exact scope of the issue you are describing. Is it affecting just selected keyboard shortcuts, or all keyboard shortcuts? You may want to see if any keyboard shortcut conflicts are showing, as noted in the following article:

NF 980 PS2 Mouse & Keyboard PS2 IC just stopped working.

Hello, My PS2 Mouse & Keyboard intergrated circuit connections just stopped working. My Rig is only 6weeks old & was using Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. Everything was fine untill yesterday. all of a sudden the connections don't work. I tried doing a system restore. rebooted several times, unplugged & reconnected both mouse & Keyboard plugs to the PS2 connections & still not being recognized at boot up. I plugged in a USB Mouse & Keyboard adaptor & is working fine. I'm thinking something happend to the IC chip. Are these Mobo's known for this problem? I don't think I'm going to RMA the Mobo unless something else happens.

Hi,
Keyboards and mice have electronic circuitry. When you just reboot or reset the machine, voltage still goes to the peripherals like the keyboard and mouse.
It sounds like, for some reason, the keyboard and mouse got into a non-working state, but when you rebooted or reset your machine, since power was still going to the keyboard and mouse, they didn't get reset.
When you unplugged the power, that removed power from everything (well, almost), including the peripherals, so that would've reset the keyboard and mouse.
If you have an external/USB hard drive, you can see this behavior by watching the drive light. When you shutdown your machine, the drive light will stay on, unless you unplug from the wall, or flip the switch on the back of the power supply.

InDesign CC - some keyboard shortcuts not working

Some of the keyboard shortcuts are not working.
Tab (shift-cmd-T) works once after selecting it from the menu thereafter it don't work until you select it from the menu again.
Align text:
Left (shift-cmd-L) don't work
Right (shift-cmd-R) works
Centre (shift-cmd-C) works
Justified (shift-cmd-J) works
Is it just me or is anyone else having the same issue

good tip. i didn't even know that existed but sadly the default set has [none defined].

Do you know if there is a way to replace or update the default set without manually editing each messed up/missing one? I have never made my own shortcuts and would hate it if InDesign CC makes me go in and and assign them. So I'm guessing my default set is messed up. My Airport Express just stops working. Computer keeps searching for it. DSL modem is OK. Have to unplug Airport Express and replug to get it to work again. Starting happening sporaticaly some time ago, but now it is about once a day, maybe twice a day. Ha
