Why do some of the filters in the Filter Gallery turn my image orange?

I've been trying to use some of the filters in the Filter Gallery, but most of the filters in the Sketch category inexplicably turn whatever image I'm working with orange. I've tried this with several images, and got the same results. They all give me an image which looks like this:

I may be new to Photoshop, but I don't think that's how it's meant to look ...
Any ideas on what's causing this? Thanks.

Many of the Filter Gallery filters use the foreground and background colors for their effect -- and you have one of those set to orange, and the other set to dark red.

It sounds like you are using Messages on an iPhone and see message text with either a blue or green background.
When you see green text bubble, your iPhone is using SMS/MMS because the other person is not using an iPhone or has not enabled iMessage. When you see a blue text bubble, your iPhone is using iMessage.
How do I know if my message used SMS/MMS or iMessage?
You can tell which type of message you're sending by the color of the Send button and text bubble.
SMS/MMS: Send button and text bubbles are green.
iMessage: Send button and text bubbles are blue.

You should still be able to send pictures to non-iMessage users. If you're not able to, the steps in the "If you can't send and receive MMS" section of this article are helpful for troubleshooting:

Why do some photos not appear in the book I am creating?

I am composing two books at the moment and will want to order them shortly.
The problem I have is that, sometimes the photos do not appear when you drag them into the book - it just shows an exclamation mark. However if you look at the layout in the top section, it appears.
The photos not showing are either very high-res digital pictures from a professional photographer or scanned photos, but the scanned ones are of similar (OK) quality and identical resolution to others which are visible.
I am worried what will happen when I go to order the book - will these pictures not upload?
Does anyone know why this is happening or a fix?

sometimes the photos do not appear when you drag them into the book - it just shows an exclamation mark.
The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder.
Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

Why do some birthdays show up with the description " 's Birthday", instead of showing the name? About 25% show up this way, and the rest show up just fine?

When I enter birth dates for my contacts on iCloud, about 20% of them show up on the iCalendar "as 's Birthday " (without the name of the person), but the rest show up just as they should (i.e., "Ron's Birthday")...I've checked and re-checked the way the data is entered in the Contacts folder, but still get this discrepancy. It only happens when I open iCalendar on my PC...when I view the iCalendar on my iPhone, everything reads just fine. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Right, I just thought of this so that podcasts DON'T SHOW UP in artists or albums on your iPod (althought it does show up on songs and genres, but if you've got it so it skips podcasts then it won't matter...).
What you do is:
Go onto Podcasts in iTunes. Then go on View on the top toolbar and scroll down to View Options...
Then select it so artist and album show up. Then delete whatevers there, so that the only info on the podcast is just the podcast name and its length.

Why do some applications update independant of the application manager

Hello All
I am unsure, but fairly confident, that I am not the only one experiencing this. It seems that for whatever reason Acrobat, Lightroom, Muse and a few other apps have thier own installers and updaters. Why?
What is even more of a pain is the fact that each installation of Lightroom puts itself in a directory with the new version number breaking my shortcuts to it. yes there is a new one made on my desktop, but i have a gadget with a shortcut on it to all my important apps. Every installation of Lightroom breaks that link.
Could we not get all the apps in our creative cloud subscription to be installed and updated directly from the application manager? and could it not break my links?

What other apps is it happening with?

Why are some songs not available in the U.S. iTunes Store?

There is a song called "The Moment I Knew" by Taylor Swift. I want to get it off of the U.S. iTunes Store, but it's only available as a ringtone, not a song. And the weirdest thing is that the song is available in other countries along with the Deluxe Edition of Red, but in the U.S., Taylor Swift usually releases the bonus tracks as singles. I need to know!!!

It is not currently available in the US Store. So, you won't be able to get it via iTunes. You can purchase the Red Deluxe CDs at Target, which has the song on them.

Why do some apps not work with the new ios update

i tried deleting andstarting over again(e.g : Hay day) but still ! I'm reallllllllly getting sick and tired of this ... Not even to mention how many times the browser(Safari) has stopped working and froze since i started typing this message ....

you may need to update the particular apps that are causing you crashes. Go to the app store and tap "updates".
You can also do this via itunes, click on "apps" on the left, then updates on the top and update all. then re-sync your phone.

In Photoshop Elements (13) - why can't the filters be downloaded all at once?

In Premiere Elements, the effects can be downloaded all at once - it takes awhile but it's convenient. Why not the same for Photoshop Elements? I think it used to work the same way in previous versions.

Well the question remains – why, in this version, can’t they be downloaded all at once instead of one at a time. Sure, I don’t need ALL the filters at the outset, but it’s nice to just be able to get it done. On the CD/DVD version... well... that was then, this is now.

I get the below error messgage when trying to use the Filters in the web application. I checked the OSS notes (932154, 902393 & 832485) but didn't get a solution. This is a query on a Basic Cube.
SQL 904.
Error in SQL Statement.
SYSTEM ERROR CL_RSR_WWW_RENDERER and form space GET_FILTER_VALUES_CHA:3
Looking forward for some help in this regard.

It worked for me, I dont for your case.
Mine syptom:
When filtering by using the context menu's "keep filter" and then filter by using a "Hierarchy Web Item" (based on Calendar month),
then I was getting the message <i>"System error in program CL_RSR_WWW_RENDERER and form SUBMIT_FILTER"</i>
It is solved by adding a "Filter Web Item" to display the filter values. If you dont want that object in your report, you can hide it.

Is there a way to have the Filters in Analysis be ignored when rpt is run?

When i'm creating/testing a new report in the Analysis in OBIEE (11g ver), i'm generating some charts and graphs in a potential report which sift through large amounts of data. But when i'm creating/editting, i just want to filter on something specific so when i return to the analysis, its quick. However, when i launch the report in the dashboard, i dont want that filter being applied -- i want the prompts i've set to do all the filtering. And as i return to the analysis mode, my filter would be there still and applied so i don't have to wait long for it to render. Is there a way to have the Filters in the analysis be ignored when the report is run in the Dashboard or run outside of being in the analysis mode?

As far as I have experience working with OBIEE. Any filters you create in reports inline are overwritten by filters in the dashboard prompt, if they created with the same columns and presentation tables. To stop this behavior, there is an option to mark your inline report filter as Protected, so it won't be overwritten. You should try though.

I'm having a strange issue and I cannot pinpoint the problem here.
I have a subclass of MovieClip which assigns some filters in the constructor. Something like this:
public class MyMovieClip extends MovieClip
    public function MyMovieClip()
        super();
        filters = [new DropShadowFilter(2, 45, 0, 0.75, 4, 4)];
Then I created some Symbols in my Library and assigned "MyMovieClip" as their base-class. So when I place these Symbols on the stage and test my movie, they get the shadow-filter applied, just as I wanted.
But if I try to animate these Symbols (no matter if it's motion-tween or classical-tween), they won't move at all. They will freeze at the first frame (the timeline is actually played and animations work, but not for the symbols with the filter). If I remove the line with the filters from the constructor, it animates normally. It also doesn't work if I assign the filter every frame (eg. on ENTER_FRAME).
Important: I know that I could add a shadow-filter in the Flash IDE instead of doing it in code, and that this would work for animations as well. But this is just a simplified example, because in the end I would like to add a custom shader (Pixel Bender) to my symbols instead of the shadow filter... and these can only be added in code.
This is Flash CS6 btw. I'm not sure if this worked in previous versions of flash or not.

Yes, coding the movement/tweens certainly works. And I don't want to interrupt the tweens, all I want to do is apply a custom filter... it astounds me that this doesn't work while it works fine when I assign the available flash filters via the IDE.
Is there another way to achieve something like this? What I'm looking for is a way that a non-tech-savvy person could animate stuff in flash while the rendering of the objects could be tweaked using custom shaders. The only alternative that comes to mind is to render all symbols on stage to a bitmapdata, apply filters there and then finally compose it to a large bitmap... but that sounds really costly in terms of performance.

My photos will not keep the filter on when I enlarge them. When I show the thumbnails of them in the photos app, I can see the filters, but I can't when I enlarge them. (I have iOS 7). How can I fix this?

When I open the Photos app, and I see all the thumbnails of the photos I have taken, I see the filters on the photos that should have filters. For some reason, when I enlarge a photo with a filter to full screen, the filter is removed. But when I go back to the thumbnails, the filter is restored. How can I fix this?

What is the SYNTAX for the user and group filters??? Is the HTML Ampersand token Amper A m p semicolon required in the filter

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion over the actual syntax for the user and group filters on the Forms Based Authentication Ldap Role and membership providers.. MSFT isn't really clear and there is a universal confusion in the blogsphere.
I the filters should the prefix be the ACTUAL Ampersand or the HTML token for an AMPERSAND.. I realize the in many cases the blogger might have inadvertently specified the html token when the bare naked ampersand was intended.. The question
therefore is : can a filter be taken directly from and ADSIEdit query and used as a filter or must the filter be made HTML safe by swapping out the AMERSAND with the HTML Token for AMERSAND before putting it into the configuration

Why are some CA's now issuing SHA2 root certs?

If the signatures in root certs are not used for anything and have no security value since it requires no verification since it already lives in the trust store then why are some CA's now giving the option to sign a root with SHA2?

While root certs themselves are exempt from this policy, that doesn't mean
that it isn't a good practice from a security perspective to start using

Another example of this is that currently, the SHA1 deprecation policy only

Thanks Paul - I suppose I'm just looking for a reason from a vulnerability perspective on why roots need to be signed with SHA2. If they already live in the trusted root store they are trusted by their identity not by the hash function making it irrelevant.
From an attackers perspective, if they had access to the host systems trust store, there's no need to try to forge a root cert in the store they could just replace it with one of their own for the same effect. Although I'm still unclear on what they
could accomplish by doing this.
