Why do some of the songs only play half way, then skip to the next song?
I just got the ipod shuffle and am enjoying it very much, except that a few songs won't play all the way through. I tried them on my computer and they WILL play there, BUT I notice they have a kind of crackle, like the download got interupted. Is that making them "Skip" like a scratched record? And what do I do about it?

If those are purchased tracks (from ITS) then this is an old problem, and a continuing one.
The two most common fixes are either to work through ITS Support and get different copies of those tracks (they will never work correctly on the Shuffle as they are, and might actually get worse with time), or go through a process of burning those tracks off to a CD and then reimporting them back into iTunes.
Both of these have been discussed at length in these and other forums. Search for those threads and see what you want to try.

I downloaded an Album from Itunes Store onto a Windows PC. Some of the songs play fine while others play about half the song and then skip to the next song. But, when I play the same songs from iCloud on my iPhone 4s, they play the whole song. So, why can't itunes play the song in full?
This happened to me. What you need to do is move the song and any backups to the recycle bin. Then go to Itunes store and click 'Purchased' under Quick Links. Go to the song you want and there will be a cloud next to it. Click it and it will redownload. It should download the full song this time.
This happened to me yesterday when I bought a Volbeat album and again today when my brother bought a Rise Against album. I hope Apple fixes this. I just read about a question like this from back in 2007, so it's been going on for a while. -

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items. -

I purchased 2 albums today and a few songs on each only play half through then skip to the next. I deleted and redownloaded, still having the same problem.

Try deleting and redownloading just the problematic tracks (rather than the entire album(s)). Any better luck with that? -

Songs only play half way through and move on to next one
I have been using iTunes (10.5) on my Macbook Pro, OS 10.6.8 with no problems until this morning. When I turned on iTunes, I got a message stating that this computer was not authorized to play the song I chose. I received the same error message for all the other songs. And these were all songs that I had uploaded from my own CD collection a long time ago. So, I authorized the computer as requested by iTunes, although I thought I had done that before. Now none of the songs finish playing. The songs quit about half way through and then the next song starts. It is *extremely* annoying. Should I reinstall one of the older iTunes versions? Anyone else have this problem? I found old posts from 5-6 yeas ago but no solutions.

i bought the album Attack! Attack! by Attack Attack and most of the songs will only play halfway then they will just go silent i have tried contacting apple about this but have found no real topic on their site to do with this problem and there seems to be no email address for support that i can find can an of you help me?
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to close and restart iTunes.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

I bought a couple of singles and I can only listen to the first half. I have purchased 3 cds since then and they all work fine, it is only these songs and i submitted a report to itunes but it wasn't resolved . anyone have any ideas?

I recently bought a song on I-tunes using an I-coke credit, the song only plays half way through, before it skips to the next song, does anyone know what is going on and what I can do to fix this??
Remove the song from the device either by using a computer or on the device itself.
You can redownload any song that you have currently purchased for free through itunes on a computer or iOS device. After deleted attempt to redownload the song.

I have a new PC and I had to transfer my I tunes from my old PC to my new PC and now some of the songs only play half way through on both my PC and Ipod Classic
How can this be fixed, I noticed also that on I tunes on my PC before purchasing a song I listen to it and now it is only playing like 4 seconds of the song and I have opened up the URL and it still won't work correctly. PLEASE HELPAre these songs that you purchased from the iTunes Store or imported from outside of iTunes? If there are iTunes purchases, delete them from your main iTunes library and redownload them again at no cost via iCloud.

I downloaded an album in the itunes store and the first and last songs only play half way through in itunes and then stop. My iphone sync'd wirelessly and got the complete songs. Any ideas on what happened? Can I redownload them?
To be of any assistance I need more info.
Are they playing normal in iTunes or iPod?
if skipping in iPod, are you listening via the earphone jack or the iPod Docking station?

I think this is a more general problem Apple are having at the moment. I have just written in another thread:
"I am having this problem too. There have been quite a few other threads about it. It applies to single tracks too. They appear to download OK, and show as the right file size and length, but stop playing well before the end and iTunes moves on to the next track. Redownloading them helps sometimes but not always.
I have only had this problem for the last week or so. The longer the track the more likely there is to be a problem (perhaps obviously)."
I think it is the tracks themselves rather than iTunes. If you export the problematic track to the Desktop and try playing it with Quicktime it stops in just the same place.
