Try closing the camera app and the photos app, reset your iPad and then launch the photos app again. You will not lose any data when you reset the iPad this way.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Let me expand on this: I have 570 photos in a slide show and all are properly referenced in my library. In the slideshow window, I can see all the pics in the bottom box and when I run "preview slideshow", certain pictures don't appear in the top box whilst the curser moves across the picture in the bottom box. Likewise, if I run the full screen slideshow, that picture(s) does not appear (I have a blank screen); the next picture does show up, howerver... This happens with several dozen pictures, always the same, randomnley amongst the 570...

Hello Tony and thank you. I regenerated and rebuilt thumbnails; I deleted the slide show and rebuilt it; nothing works. Now, I noticed something weird. All pictures are in an Aperture project and are properly referenced as I said; all the pictures in this project come from a old iPhoto project where some of the pictures are in a "Modified" folder, others in an "Original" project; it is all the pictures in the "Original" project that don't show up in the slide show.... Do you have any idea what I should do?

Why do some photos not appear in the book I am creating?

I am composing two books at the moment and will want to order them shortly.
The problem I have is that, sometimes the photos do not appear when you drag them into the book - it just shows an exclamation mark. However if you look at the layout in the top section, it appears.
The photos not showing are either very high-res digital pictures from a professional photographer or scanned photos, but the scanned ones are of similar (OK) quality and identical resolution to others which are visible.
I am worried what will happen when I go to order the book - will these pictures not upload?
Does anyone know why this is happening or a fix?

sometimes the photos do not appear when you drag them into the book - it just shows an exclamation mark.
The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder.
Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

Some photos not showing up in media selector

A little puzzle.......
I recently purchased an iPad with photo display in mind. The easiest way to get pictures from my iMac to the iPad is through iTunes. Works fine. I use a couple of smart albums to select only the highest ranked photos, and those albums I select in iTunes to sync.
But then I found out some photos are missing. Looking at the numbers in the iTunes album browser this became obvious. For instance, a smart gallery containg 45 items would show up in iTunes with only 27 items. This problem is not limited to iTunes, as the media selector in Pages shows the same number.
I first repaired the database and the permissions, to no avail. I then found out that changing the edited pictures in Aperture seemed to help. Now all my favorite pictures are .tiffs produced by NIK's plugins. Some of those I worked on a little in Aperture, f.i. cropping or altering the white balance somewhat. Those images are the ones missing in iTunes. I was able to add a missing picture to 'iTunes' by removing the adjustments (which off course I do not want to do).
Unfortunately, this rule has an exception (like any rule in life, expect in computing) with a smart gallery full of cropped NIK files. So I am still a little lost as to exactly where the problem lies. Anyone have similar experiences?

One thing you may want to check:
iTunes can only sync images that have previews. Do your NIK-edited images have previews? If not, you may want force the creation of new previews for these images. Select the image versions in question and ctrl-click, hold down the ⌥-key, and select "Generate Preview(s).
Then relaunch iTunes and try to sync again.

Why do my photos not show for come projects?

I have an Aperture folder containing 9 projects and about 1500 photos. All photos appear when I click on the folder, but do not appear when I click on 7 of the 9 projects (they used to). Also the Info and Adjustment views are blank The photos appear for each of the 9 projects in iPhoto and the photo count shows the same number (with a few minor differences) in Aperture and iPhoto.
Any help would be appreciated. Would repairing the Library help?

I'm hitting a similar, rather scary bug in Aperture which I expect is behind your issue as well.
*** I've found that as soon as I drag a project in to or out of a folder in the library window, all the photos in that project disappear. ***
Aperture is somehow losing the link to the images when you drag the project somewhere. You can still see the images if you click on the folder (or indeed on the overall "Photos" item at the top of the library list) but not when you select the project itself.
You cannot drag the images from the folder into the old apparently empty project, I guess because Aperture thinks that's where they already are.
I did manage to recover things by creating a new project and dragging the images into there, then deleting the old project. But this bug means that I cannot organise my projects in any useful way - I have to leave them exactly where I created them.
Organising my library is now fraught with danger, so if anyone has found a solution to this I'm keen to hear it.
I'll keep working on it and try and find the cause and/or a fix.
I'm using Aperture 3.5.1 on a Mac Pro 2011 running 10.9.4. Library is stored on an SSD. Images are stored in the library file/package rather than referenced.

Why do some links not show up on my screen?

Some links or response boxes to be filled in DO NOT Display on my screen. If I know where they are, I can find them when my pointer turns to "hand". The problem doesn't exist on IE (ugh!).

There are many possible reasons for pages not to look right. Have you tried to tips in this article: [[Websites look wrong]]?

Some photos not showing in my Camera Roll album, can only find them if I use 'Places' and select where I took the photo

Basically as the title says, I've noticed when trying to find some photo's I've taken in the past few months in my Camera Roll album (in the Photo's app), I can't find them anymore.
But, if I choose 'Places' (instead of Albums at the bottom of the Photo's app) and select the place/location I took the photos, I can easily see them.
I have an iPhone 4S on iOS 5.1. Based on the photo's missing, it appears it's happened to photos between 11th January to around 10th March. But I was definately able to seem them in the camera roll during that time (as I specifically remember a set of photo's I took I constantly referred back to around February. I can now only find them if I choose the location where I took them).
I've reset the unit and performed a sync, but still can't see them in the Camera Roll.
Any ideas?

If you deleted them from photo stream, the only way to get them back in photo stream on your device is to add them to the camera roll as new photos. If you don't need high resolution versions in photo stream, this can be done by simply opening each photo and taking a screenshot. If you do want higher resolution versions in photo stream your options are either to email them to yourself, then save them to your camera roll, or add them to a shared photo stream album.

the images don't show on the mobile browser. when using the standard browser which came with the phone 'internet' it works fine. is there a reason for this?

I get a content encoding error when trying to load one of the problem images.

I tried uploading photos from the new year, but they are only showing up under "last imported" and "last 12 months" etc... They won't show up under the "photos" section.. They stop on Dec. 31, 2013.. How do I get my pics from the new year to show up? (using iPhoto)

If the photos are in last import then they are in you library - last import is not a place - it is a view of photos in your library - you can also view these photos ine vents and in photos
The most common cause of your not finding them is an incorrect sort (view menu ==> sort photos) or incorrect date settings on your camera

Why are some albums not showing up when I download them into ITunes?

I download from a CD into my ITunes, but when I sync, the album doesn't show up to transfer to my phone.

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go.

I Created many journals in the past with no problem this weekend I created a new journal and when I access the website the photos do not appear., only grey squares with my notes the date and the weather. I visited the apple Genius Bar and they could not help. They said maybe it is a problem with the Apple Server. apple.com server website shows no problems with their server. Help please

I've been experiencing the same problem. Both new and old web journals do not display properly. Most photos are gray squares, but if I hit refresh I am sometimes able to partially view the album. This problem occurs both within iPhoto and in various web browsers.

When I add an ap back on my sons ipod it is all white, there isn't a picture. Example Angry Birds shows up as the ap but the picture doesn't appear th box is white when we download aps the picture appears. Anyone know why this is happening.

In summary, the Classic has problems displaying photo's whose original resolution was above a certain size.
However you can display the via slideshow, i.e. press the play button rather than the centre button. You may want to change the slideshow transition settings though.
Hopefuly this will be fixed in the next firmware release.

My Photo Not Showing Up in Messages

My photo does not show beside my texts in Messages on my Mac. Only a shadow of a generic person in a rectangle is there. I can see the photos of others who write me, though. I have my photo in Contacts and it does show up in Mail, but not in Messages. My photo also shows up in IMessage on the iPad.
Why is my photo not showing up in Messages and how could I make it visible? Thanks.

Your Pic is set if you have Buddy list set up/logged in.
Enable the Bonjour account if you do not have Jabber, AIM or Yahoo IDs set up in Messages.
Click on the current Buddy Pic.
You may find it has pulled the Pic from the My Card in the Contacts app (Formerly the Address Book)
In turn this may be picking up on the System Preferences > User and Groups > your account Login pic.
That is to say when you set up the (Mac User) Account it asked you to create/chose a pic from the Login Screen.
Later the process of setting up an Accounts asked for details that create the Contacts/Address Book Card and the Login in pic is dragged across.
AS you then get to set up Messages (Or iChat) then the My Card pic is pulled through.
All three spots can be changed independently of each other.
Some of the Recent Items can be from either of the others.
This is my Buddy list pic and th "Recents" I have.
The Zebra and head in "teeth" pics are from some testing I did with Pics in the Contacts > My Card options rather than Messages.
Finally once you have a pic linked to Messages then it also show up at your end for the Chat window for iMessages (as well as for you in AIM or Jabber)
NOTE
In AIM and Jabber (Or Yahoo) your Pic is Broadcast and is what you Buddy sees next to your Name (They can override this though)
In iMessages though your pic is not sent and your Buddy's Contacts app supplies whatever pic they have for you. (As yours does for them)

Yes, tried that but all that happened was that my Home Sharing although shown turned on on both Apple TV and iTunes did not allow me to connect to my Library, could access You Tube so WiFi connection O.K.. Tried switching Home Sharing off and then on again on Apple TV but that didn't access my Library so had to go back into iTunes on my Mac and switch off Home Sharing and switch it back on again there which then allowed me access to my Library. This resolved the problem as photos I had just taken were now viewable ( This however has happened before so not a new problem, suspect the router but as I am changing ISP soon, going to BT Infinity, hope that will solve that problem.)

Probably because all of the Music wasn't selected to sync from iTunes. When the iPad is connect to iTunes on your computer, you can select Sync Entire Library in the Music Tab of iTunes if you want all of your music on the iPad.
