Why do TC inputs on my SCB give a 0.0000 output?
I have an SCB-68 connected to a PCI-604E (PCI-MIO-16E-4)DAQ board in my computer with Windows XP. When I open a Test Panel, I can see a reasonable output on channel 0 (CJC) and I can see noise on empty channels, but if I connect a thermocouple to a channel, the output goes to 0.000000. Why?
I'm glad you were able to see a signal in the board's test panel. The way to change the scale on the virtual channel test panel is to change the physical scale in the properties for the virtual channel.
As far as the actual readings go, I've got a couple of thoughts as to why you're not seeing what you expect. First off, the polynomial constants you're getting from the Omega catalog seem to be for a °F scale, but you're specifying the range for the virtual channel in °C. You may have meant to do this, but it's just something to double-check.
Second, I'm a bit confused by the way you're creating the custom scale. The omega equation is a 5th-order polynomial, but when you calculate the reverse coefficients, you specify
a 6th-order equation. This shouldn't be a problem as long as you enter all of the coefficients correctly, but you may want to stick with a 5th-order since that is the original format.
There's one thing you may want to try that (in my opinion) simplifies custom scaling. You can create a table of points using the original 5-th order equation from Omega and input these values directly as a Table Scale in MAX. This avoids some of the hassle of having to reverse-calculate coefficients since the original equation goes from temp. to volts and not vice-versa. This can be done easily in Excel and the calculated points can be saved as a text file. You can then create a Table Scale in MAX that reads directly from that text file. I think it helps to see some representative table values rather than an ambiguous polynomial equation.
These are just some things to consider when you get back to your office. Please let me know if you still can't get the readings you expect.

Why when i input a double complex in the decimate the output is a real double?
Hi everybody, the question is pretty much what i wrote in the title.
I have a double complex signal and when i put in the decimate function the output is a real double, why is that?
Thanks to everybody and sorry for the bad englishThe tools from the signal processing palette only operate on DBL. Notice the coercion dot at the terminal where you wire the complex array. Use the decimate from the array palette instead (resize as needed).
If you want the full functionality of the other decimate.vi for complex arrays, make your own. Does not seem too hard, probably a single small loop.

In incoming call, why iphone 4S (ios 7.04) sometimes gives option to decline the call and sometimes not?
Try to do this experience.
Ask a person with a block phone to call you and the option to reject doesn´t appear. Try with a non-blocked phone and the option of reject appears.
I think it´s an iOS 7 problem. -

I'm talking about the PAID FOR "Personal Hotspot" AT&T feature that comes with a 4GB dataplan. If you have a Jailbroken phone then this isn't for you.... Anyway, upgraded to IOS 5 and at the worst possible time I discovered that my phone no longer had the ability to share it's over the air data with my Laptop. Restarting the phone didn't help, turning cellular data on and off didn't help and after hitting a wall I called AT&T's tech support number as I had a strong suspicion what the problem was and that they'd be able to help. Despite explaining the problem and proposing a quick fix the agent made reference to an internal memo saying there are bugs in IOS 5 and that my lack of tether was an Apple software issue and I had to call them. Frankly in this case it's VERY MUCH an AT&T provisioning issue, and one AT&T should have their techs deal with in 30 seconds rather than waste customer's time pointing fingers. After a long and frustrating attempt to get the tech to fix the problem I ended the call by CANCELLING my tether plan and going back to the "Regular" 2GB plan. Reason being hat if it's an IOS bug then it will be weeks I'm paying for service that I'm not getting, or if I was right the problem would be fixed on my next call to AT&T. For giggles I called and spent a very miserable 40 minutes dealing with Apple's IVR and nice but dim tech who was more concerned that I didn't have Apple care than anything else. That call ended with Apple saying it's not them and I should call AT&T support... However, instead of beating my head against the wall again I called SALES and asked them to add 4GB data and teher to my phone. 5 minutes later I had working tether. Problem solved. Basically to enable tether the phone has to pass a sanity check that it hasn't been tampered with, and then to activate the feature a fil is pushed down over the air to "Bless" the iPhone. I suspect as part of the IOS upgrade something went out of whack with either the file or the anti-tamper checks. Solution was to reprovision tethering, but AT&T support wouldn't hear of it. So, if you have lost tethering after an IOS 5 upgrade and AT&T support won't help then the solution is pretty painless. A) call customer service (not tech support) and CANCEL your tethering and extended dataplan. B) Turn your phone off for 5 minutes, then wait another 30 mins or so and call SALES. Ask them to add Tethering and extended data to your account. C) Wait another 30 minutes, or if you're impatient you can try turning your phone on and off again, and you'll be back in business. The down side to the is is you pay for two data plans for this month, but get a credit for the overlap next month (ie net you don't lose out). Hoping AT&T reads this and stops wasting everyone's time by enabling 1st level support to deprovision and then reprovision tether without messing with billing. We can live in hope, but until then I hope this may help someone being bounced around in a game of "Blame Tennis". Once again AT&T = All Twisted & Tangled! -

Michele,
Launch Settings / Notifications Center. There you can alter how the system notifies you. Then scroll down to Mail and adjust its specific notification type.

Why does selecting "help" in Premiere Elements give me a http403 forbidden message?
Why does selecting "Help" in Elements Premiere 11" give me a 403 Forbidden message?
I have looked at hosts file.
If I understand your suggestion correctly, I have compared my hosts file entry with the link you provided:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zyw0c7iJGJs/Uz9A3uyRpMI/AAAAAAAABZo/6s9KihpCW0I/s1600/hostsfile. JPG
and they appear to be exactly the same.
[PS: Could an issue here be that my version of PE (11) is not the latest version (13)? (Or should using PE11 still permit use of the "Help" feature, without a "403 error" ?)]

One of these factors may exist. Not knowing the age of your MacBook Pro, I can't say for certain. -

I read somewhere that all the ports of a switch will participate in STP by default. Is there any way to remove the STP operation on host ports ?
Regards,
ChanduAll ports participate in Spanning Tree by default.
Spanning tree is there to block redundant L2 paths in order to prevent loops. All ports are capable of causing a loop so you would not want to turn spanning tree off, in fact I don't think you can switch it off on a per port basis. You can switch it off on a per vlan basis.
You are already using portfast which allows host ports to transition into a forwarding state without going through the listening and learning states of STP. If you switch off STP on a port, you risk the chance of a L2 loop.

You can have loops in SQL*Plus, but it's not pretty. See this thread:

The output of a BNC cable has two lines, one for my voltage data and one for the ground. I would like to use the differential input mode of the SCB-68 connector block and i m not sure if i have to connect the ground to AI0 and the voltage to AI7 or the opposite, and also what is the name of this channel when i have to configure it using Labview. The DAQ card i m using is the 6036E.
Hi,
Because it just measures the potetial difference between the 2 pins it does not really matter. i would stick with the +ve going to the first channel of the pairing and then the -ve going to the second. You then have to go into Measurement & Automation explorer and create a virtual channel. In here you right click data neighbourhood and create channel....go through the steps, I.E analog input, device type, input type as just a voltage....and then on one of the later screens it tells you the exact pins to connect the wires to and gives you the option to select RSE NRSE or differential input type....as you change the connection type the pins guidance changes accordingly. its quite straight fwd and very easy to follow using this wizard.
Cheers

nullThis occurs because the last line of the script does not have a
carriage return. It is a harmless message. Add a carriage
return to the final line of your script and the message should
not occur.
I believe it no longer occurs in SQL*Plus 9.0.1

How do I read a pulsed input on an SCB-68 counter channel?
Hello all, I have been searching through the DAQ help and this board
for a few hours now and I cannot find an answer that addresses what
should be a simple problem. Let's start with hardware and software: I
have a 6062E PCMCIA DAQmx card connected to a SCB-68 (E Series)
connector block. I am running Version 7.1.0.306 of Measurement Studio
for Visual Studio .NET and am coding in C#. So please, no LabView
answers.
I am trying to read the pulsed output of the Omega HHT-1501 Digital
Tachometer - it outputs a TTL LOW pulse every time the sensor is
triggered, I would like to read in these pulses and get the
frequency to determine RPMs. As far as I can tell I need to
connect the pulsed signal line to CTR0, which is PFI9/GPCTR0_GATE on
the connector block, pin #3. I have verified that the tachometer is
indeed pulsing correctly. I have used the DAQ Assistant to create a
DAQmx task to acquire the frequency of a digital signal using the 1
Counter Low Frequency Measurement method, input range is set from 1Hz
to 1KHz, starting edge is set to falling. For Task Timing the
Acquisition Mode is Continuous, Samples to Read = 100.
When I run the test I get no response. And it also seems that the
GPCTR0_GATE is always at +5V. I have tried just about every other
combination of inputs, including using CTR1 on GPCTR1_GATE, pin 41, all
with the same result - no signal read.
So what is the problem? Every post or help article I have read makes it
sound like plug and play to read the pulses but this is not the case -
does the counter gate need to be configured as an input in either
software or hardware? Am I supposed to have a signal set on the SOURCE,
and if so what? And what about my ground line from the pulse source? I
have tried attachign that to DGND, still no result, and if I attach the
pulse signal gnd to the GPCTR0_SOURCE it causes my tachometer to lock
up.
This thread
http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=34826&query.id=3937#M34826
seems to be very closely related to what I want to do but is as vague
as the help articles - it mentions using one of the two timebases as
the source input - what does this mean in terms of code/wiring?
Additionally in the NI-DAQmx help article under Device
Considerations->Counter Signal Connections->AO/E/S Series it says
"The count direction terminal must be tristated to use an external
signal. Reset the device to ensure the terminal is tristated" for edge
counting. A) Is this related? and B) how does one tristate by reset?
Power cycling the scb-68 has no apparent effect on anything.
I would appreciate any help on this matter, hopefully with as much
detail as possible since the help manuals seem to be mostly useless for
guiding one in performing any task.
Thanks!
J. SlaterHi Shyam,
The major factor that would come into play with the signal having some noise is that the counter is expecting a TTL signal and the oscilloscope is measuring an analog input signal. If your signal floats above the TTL thresholds or does not rise/fall within the specifications, the behavior is not predictable and it can be measured as a high or low by the counter. An oscilloscope will measure the analog signal and you may be able to measure the frequency of the noise on your scope by analyzing a smaller timeframe of the signal.
What Is the Definition of a TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) Compatible Signal?

Why is the input that the Apple TV HDMI is hooked into disbaled?
I plugged my Apple TV power cord in, and the HDMI cored into my TV. I tried hitting Input on my TV, but the only things it allows me to go in is TV, DVD, and Sattelite. The HDMI was plugged into Input or HDMI 7. Why is that disabled and how should I get on?
Some TV's allow you to 'turn off' the inputs that arent in use so when you scroll through you only jump to valid inputs.
if this is the problem there will be an option somewhere on your TV to enable/disable the various inputs. -
Why would audio input level go very low?

I've used this set-up loads of times without this problem: Audition CC, Rode shotgun videomic into MacBook Pro.
Anyone know why the volume would now be so low please?ben.bland wrote:

We can rule this one out straight away - MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) has nothing whatsoever to do with this!
Likewise, in Preferences > Sound the input level is near the top.
I think that you need to find out what the input socket thinks it's doing here. What Bob is suggesting is that if it's a dual-purpose socket (ie it doubles up as either a line, or a mic, input), it's stuck on Line. And that's no good for a mic - far too insensitive. We're both a bit stuck at this point though, because it's a Mac you've got, and neither of us uses those...
