Why do text notifications take a while to appear?

I am using an iPhone 6 that is just barely over a month old with the latest iOS update. I have not dropped my phone in any way that would damage it but I'm having issues with my text notifications. I will recieve a notification that says someone sent me a text 8 minutes or so ago but I only recived the notification just then. This problem only occurs when my phone is locked. And another issue I'm having is that I will open up a text conversation and new texts will not appear until a couple of seconds have passed (I can deal with this but if anyone has solutions they'd also be appreciated). If anyone has any solutions to these inconveniences please help. I'm considering taking the phone to Apple as soon as I get a chance. This is my first iPhone and I love it but I am fairly upset with this problem.

  • "Other.." takes a while to appear when using DHCP

Ever since upgrading to 10.4.6 I've had to use DHCP in Directory Access to bind to the Server, before I was doing it manually but its suddenly stopped working on all client computers.
Using DHCP does work but occassionally it can take anywhere between 20 seconds and 20 minutes for "Other.." to appear in the log in window. I seems to happen randomly and not a peak usage times (sometimes Its just one person trying to log in) we only have 8 Network user accounts at the moment.
There are no errors in the DHCP log. Any suggestions other than rolling back to 10.4.5 ?

I have noticed the same behavior when closing Mail. Sometimes it hangs by itself for a few seconds, sometimes it shuts down immediately. I guess what I trying to say is, that this behavior appears to be random, and that I have learned to live with it
As for the All Mail folder under Gmail, for your IMAP Gmail account, you need to know that Gmail archives email threads as conversations - i.e. differently than with other email service providers - and that deleting certain emails in Mail, if they belong to a conversation, might/will result in deleting the entire conversation, which you may not want to do if one or several emails in that conversation are important to you. So the bottom line is you do not want to delete anything in All Mail if you save emails to individuals folders in Leopard Mail or labels if in gmail over the web. What you want to do is limit the deleting to the Trash and the Sent folders. Here is a link you might find helpful as far as deleting Sent mail in Gmail: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?topic=12855

why does a text banner pop up while in a text converstaion? only the sound alerted before iOS 6.

but that only started with iOS 6. prior, the text tone would sound when you were in a different conversation. I like the banner but it's annoying when I'm already in the text screen.... understand the question?

  • Why do I get the text notification when still in the text and someone responds?

When I am texting with someone and the text is still showing on the screen I get the text notification every time they respond.
I have my text tone set to tri-tone, reminder alerts to none and vibrate off.
It wasn't always like this and it's driving me nuts.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Someone answered in another thread.  They told me to turn the phone off and wait a minute or 2 before turning it back on and it worked!  Just thought I would share in case anyone else was having this problem.

  • Uconnect Highjacks Audible Text Notifications

Just bought a 2015 Jeep Wrangler with Uconnect 430N system. Paired my iPhone 5s running 8.13. Phone calls are fine. However if I receive a text, my phone only vibrates while I'm driving and I have no idea I received a text unless I physically check the phone or feel the vibration. Somehow Uconnect highjacks the audible sounds associated with my texts on my phone.
I know iPhone is not compatible with on-screen text receiving, but it shouldn't shut off my sounds on my phone. Oddly enough, the Uconnect radio in my wife's 2010 Liberty doesn't highjack these notifications.
A call to Uconnect was worthless. They said there is no support for my 8.1.3 OS yet but it would just magically appear at some point without downloading it. There was no clue as to why the phone notifications work in a 5-year-old Uconnect system.
I have selected the "Show Notifications" switch on my phone within the Bluetooth\Uconnect pairing.
    What else can I try?

From what I understand from the Jeep Forum community, this is an Apple issue that doesn't allow audible notifications when hooked up to a bluetooth car radio.  It also doesn't allow for the texts to be read aloud or visually read on the radio screen as they come in.  So, until Apple addresses this issue iPhone users just have to feel the vibration to know when a text comes in.

  • Email and text Notifications when on a call

Is there a way to stop email and text notifications when I am on a phone call? I have a long email alert and message tone, and when I'm on a call and they go off, it's so loud and long I can't hear who I'm talking to.
They can't hear the alert but it goes on for so long they waffle on and I miss a lot of conversation. Why is this not automatically disabled or set to silent when taking a call?

Again,we shouldn't have to. I've been an iPhone user since 3G and its taken years just to get simple things that even 10 year old nokias can do. Since we can now use our own alert tones etc, they can't even get them to be quiet when on a call. I've no need to know I've received a text or email when I'm on a call.
Always seems like apple don't think things through in the rush to get their gadgets out. Surely this is an easy fix that could have been sorted by now, there are enough complaints about it.

  • How do i stop notifications from ringing while im on a phone call on the iphone 4s

how do i stop notifications from ringing while im on a phone call on the iphone 4s?

    Basel,
I'm not sure why these folks are having trouble understanding your request. I will dumb it down for them. Is there an option to have the iPhone only provide me with notifications when I'm not on the phone. Having my $800ish phone buzz and interrupt my phone conversation (after all primary function of this iPhone is being a phone) to let me know one of my Facebook friends has challenged me to a game of words with friends. I don't want my iPhone to not notify me at all. It can notify me after the call (again primary function) is complete. Going through menus and turning off notifications all together is absolutely silly. I wouldn't want to have to navigate through the menus and turn them off and then on an then off just to make or receive a phone call. Could you imagine answering you phone with, "hey, just wait I have to turn my notifications off so I can have this conversation." every time you wanted to talk on the phone.
So yeah. Again not sure why they were having trouble with understanding you. I hope this helps clarify it for them.

Why do text messages from my iPad appear to some people as if they came from my email address instead of my phone number? This does not happen when I send text messages from my iPhone.

You need to link your iPhone number to Messages - and Facetime if you use it. For Messages go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive at>You can be reached by iMessage at. If your phone number is showing there, select it as your Contact address. If it doesn't appear in there, take a look at the end of this article for help.

  • Samsung screen blinks and takes a while to come on

Why does my Samsung screen keep blinking when I press the button and it takes a long time to come on?

    Hello Gin-e,
You should contact Samsung if you are talking about your Samsung monitor. it could be expected behavior or it might not be. I've noticed on some Samsung monitors that it takes a while to boot and the monitor doesn't come out of sleep mode very well. Sounds like you have a monitor issue though and as the monitor is not an HP monitor I wouldn't be able to provide you any information on if that behavior is to be expected or not.

My text notification light no longer works now since the Lollipop upgrade.  How do I get it back since i use my phone in silent mode most of the time?

We want you to love your software update pitbullmommy71! When did you update your phone? Have you tried going into phone settings and set up your notifications as you would like them? It can take a few days for your phone to normalize after the update, but this may be a bit much. Some apps may no longer be compatible with the new software so you can try running phone in Safe Mode or do a Hard Reset to see if this improves your phone. I've seen where some have completed a Hard Reset after the update and downloaded all same apps, and phone works flawlessly now. However, if you'd like to try Safe Mode first, (which is where all 3rd party apps are disabled), you can certainly try this for 24 hours to see if improves.

    Hi,
The 'features' you refer to are not anything that a customer should really care about, so why don't you just turn them off.
Do you really care about "Location-based iAds" - I've hardly ever even seen iAds!
Do you really care about the time-zone updating based upon your international location - unless you are a very frequent traveller, this 'feature' is pretty useless and can be turned off without losing functionality that matters.
The specific features to turn off are indicated in my post above - they are all in one place, they can all be turned off in about 20 seconds, and your problem will go away, and you will not lose any important functionality.
Obviously I would agree with your point if you had to refrain from using the phone or making text messages, or playing games, or taking photos... all of which are genuinely useful features of a phone.
But I disagree with you that you should deny yourself reasonable battery life on the basis that you need the specific features that made you buy this "Apple product and not an Android one" when these features are in fact not first-line, or even-second line features... they are just 'things' that make very little difference to how a person would use their iPhone at all.
Anyway, that's my thoughts on it. Yes of course it would be great if Apple could fix the bug but as it isn't showstopping, I find it hard to get worked up about it

  • IOS text notifications not showing up

    Hi,
We are using v30, and the text notifications all say "sent" when sending "Distribution" to all readers, but don't i don't see them showing up. It's been about 15 minutes.
I have all the settings turned on since downloading the app.
    Thanks.

I just deleted the app from the Newsstand app on my iphone, and redownloaded to see if it would bring up the prompt to ask if i wanted to receive notifications or not. I never got a prompt, so maybe there is something with the certificates. Like i said, i have it all turned on on my device, but i can't quite remember if the first time i downloaded the app it asked me these things. I want to say it did, and i'm sure i would have said yes. But not sure why i don't receive the prompt after completely deleting and reinstalling.
