Why do the title bar on Firefox and taskbar on Windows 7 leave distorted image when a list of bookmark folders crosses either one ?

I use lots of folders in my bookmarks list. I have noticed that with both AMD and Nvidia based video cards, that if I am using a folder in my bookmarks list that has lots and lots of bookmarks, the list of bookmarks will cross both the title bar area of Firefox and the taskbar on Windows 7 at the bottom. When this happens, both the title bar on Firefox versions 8-10 and the taskbar at the bottom will leave images from the bookmark list that don't go away (unless I use F11 view fullscreen to clear away the image and restore to normal ). If I am using a Matrox video card, this doesn't happen. Why is this?

Hey cor-el,
Wow. That did it. You are a genius! Thank you, thank you. It's very important that I be able to use the folders with saved bookmarks feature for my business which I rely on daily.
I unchecked the "use hardware acceleration feature" where you said it was in Firefox 9 browser and it resolved the problem immediately. I am using an Nvidia GS8400 video card. I was having the same problem on the new ATI/AMD video cards too (haven't tested though on ATI computer yet). My Matrox M9120 doesn't do that at all though. Do you have any idea why that is ? Is it a software conflict between Nvidia or AMD drivers and Firefox?
One more question on your response solution, why do you recommend upgrading to current video card drivers since un-checking the "hardware acceleration" feature in Firefox works? The video card drivers on the disc that came with the card I am using were supplied by the manufacturer and released last year. Shouldn't that be good enough?

  • I updated to the newest version of FIREFOX and now my NETFLIX won't play, YOUTUBE videos will not play. I was one of the people that donated to you this year.

    Hello Mozilla/FIREFOX I just updated to your latest version and now my NETFLIX nor my YOUTUBE plays anymore. I just get a black space without any volume or play symbols - this isn't working for me. I donated to your organization as I am a supporter but you'll need to honor your side of the street. What are you guys doing to fix this and by when will it be resolved?

    Hello,
    The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
    '''''Note:''' When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences.'' See the [[Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings]] article for more information.
    To Refresh Firefox:
    # Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    #*Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Troubleshooting Information''. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    #*If you're unable to access the Help menu, type '''about:support''' in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
    #At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
    #Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
    #Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
    Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Why does the latest version of firefox crash on my windows 7 64 bit system? in English

    I've used Firefox forever, swear by it. The past few times I've installed the latest version, my computer comes to a SLOW crawl and CRASHES repeatably. I uninstall and re-install 3.6.24 and every thing works fine. I constantly get reminders that I'm using the older version and to update. I refuse to because it turns my system into a glorified paper weight. Any idea why this might happen?

    Sorry I didn't get a crash report. My computer would just come to a complete stand still. No reports, nothing. I've installed it at lease three times now, and each time it does the same thing. I have to do a hard reboot, uninstall and re-install the 3.6.24 version and it works fine. I posted the question to see if anyone else has experience the same problems. I could try it again to see if I get a crash report. I would have to do this over the weekend as I use this computer for my business.
    I appreciate your response and sorry I didn't have a report for you. I'll keep you informed as to what takes place when I try to re-install.
    Thanks again

  • The Title Bar and its controls are superimosed on the navigation toolbar

    the Question is it. the overlap prevents me from easily accessing controls on the navigation bar. I don't understand this. I asked this earlier and got dumped because i changed all the files as requested and the problem hasn't gone away. I downloaded and installed Firefox 17 and it is still there! I also upgraded my operating system to mac OS 6.8 with no help at all. I can get you a copy of the start up reading from the console if you want. I've included a screen shot below..... wait.
    I just reverted to the default persona from a musical one - the problem disappeared. Why do I get this when I add personas? Let me try others.... That is the focus of the problem! The personas for some reason exclude some of the toolbars and "shove" the title bar down onto and superimpose it upon the navigation bar. That may not make sense, but that is what it looks like from this end. Curious, though, the drop down options are still in a strange configuration, a different typeface than they were before, which happened when the personas superimposed the title bar on the navigation toolbar. So, obviously I can't use the personas. Is there a way around this, please? there is obviously a conflict somewhere, bit I can't figure it as this is a new development ever since I tried to install a new glims version for Safari and this problem appeared after that. De-installing glims did not eliminate the problem so it obviously changed something in the Firefox configuration files. The guy at glims was mystified, too. Any suggestions?
    thanks.

    Whenever I even mouse over the pesonas in the dropdown tools menu, the title bar at top and the buttons thereupon drop down and superimpose onto the navigation bar just below it. I also have an arial or helvetica font on the right click drop downs where it was gill sans before. Just changing with the mouse-over causes this. And it still happens now that I've upgraded to MAC OS 10.8. New version 17, new MAC OS and this still happens and is not a hardware acceleration issue. I'm stumped.
    What can we do? Do you want me to copy off the Firefox initiation lines from the console log?

  • Is there a way to modify the name displayed in the Title Bar at the top of the Audition Window?

    It's not uncommon for me to have a copy of Audition versions 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0 all open at the same time if I'm doing some editing for a complex project.
    It would be handy for me to quickly see which window I have open without having to recognise the icons of the different versions.  At the moment, each Title Bar just displays the Audition icon and the words "Adobe Audition".  I'd like to add the version number to the name, if it's possible.  I'm happy to edit the Windows Registry, if that is what is needed.
    Does anybody know where the Title Bar information is stored?

    I have an answer you might like Howard.
    You could simply export one title to a PRTL file, then duplicate it using an Excel VB macro to change the name of the file based on a list in an excel file. You could type in a couple of dates, then just drag down to the 365th row and all of the dates would be there waiting for the macro to rename the file. Then, if you are really talented, you could find the appropriate text in the XML file and change it to match the name of the title, but without the PRTL extension.
    That way the font and position and style would all be right and the effort would be in a file you could share with the world.
    Hmmm. I might have to try that myself one of these days. Could come in handy. If you are more comfortable with Word than Excel, create the dates in Excel and paste them into a table in Word. Just be careful not to mess up the
    Edit: Oh, and of course, you import the titles back into Premiere Pro.

  • Firefox 4.0b10 will randomly lock up and say (Not Responding) in the title bar, and sometimes takes 1min to become usable again.

    Most of the time when I launch Firefox 4.0b10 it will hang for 30sec-1min before loading. It will show a white page and say (Not Responding) in the title bar.
    It also does this when opening a new tab, clicking any link, and sometimes scrolling down a page.
    '''Thread locked as a duplicate of [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/780167 questions/780167]

    My McCaffee was a trial thing, I think. I clicked on it to see if it was updated, and it said it was expired. So I'm just going to uninstall it completely and install AdAware, which is all I've ever used for years and never had a problem.
    It occurs to me -- this must (?) have something to do with my new computer... it was slow right out of the box, and I called ASUS tech support the second day I had the puter up and running, and the tech asked me to do a System File Check (SFC), but discovered that the normal pathways through which one would do a SFC (according to him) did not work - the machine would not either recognize them or it would simply swallow the command and then just do nothing... he put me on hold for a few minutes. He came back with a workaround (don't remember it exactly, but it involved a DOS prompt), and I was able to finally run a SFC, which revealed "corrupted files" that had to be "repaired."
    In a brand new computer? That can't be a good thing... Maybe the system software factory install was just a bad install? Because I had some slow Firefox issues on my old machine (Acer, dual core, 4gRAM, 2009 machine), but NOTHING like this. This is getting very frustrating. I'm used to just sitting down to my computer and using it, not sitting down and fighting with it for 2 or 3 minutes or more before i can do anything.

  • How to replace the icon in the title bar and minimized window

    I am not sure if this is a Swing question. But since nobody answered it in the Java Programming forum, let me place it here:
    I would like to set my own icon in the title bar and in the minimized window of my java application, replacing the java coffee cup icon.
    I am using:
    frame.setIconImage(new ImageIcon("image.gif").getImage())
    as was suggested previously in the Java Programming forum at:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=31&threadID=5212059
    This does create the icon in both places. However, it only works when I run the program from JBuilder 2006. It doesn't work if I run the program from the .jar or the .exe file.
    How can I make it work for my .jar and .exe file?

    Why is it that my iPhone 4 suddenly lost the sound bar in music and YouTube?  I am able to make phone calls and hear everything just fine.  but otherwise my iPhone is silent.  It says that it is playing music, but no sound is emmitted, nor am I able to change this.

    Not knowing what steps were included in "all the troubleshooting possible with Apple people," I'll suggest you give the phone a chance to reprovision your cellular account.
    First turn off Wi-Fi. Then power off your phone. Hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the power off slider. Then slide to power off. Turn the phone back on. After the phone starts watch to see if No Serive is displayed. Hopefully after 15-30 seconds that will change to the name of your cellular service provider and finally indicate LTE or 4G as well as include some dots indicating signal strength. You can then turn Wi-Fi back on.

  • I tried to establish the Menu Bar in Firefox 4, but the process did not work. I had to reinstall Firefox 3. Why?

    I installed Firefox 4 on my Vista based PC, and there was not Menu Bar nor was there a Status Bar. I followed the instructions in the help article, but I couldn't get either tool bar to appear. The main problem was I did not get the temporary Menu Bar when I pressed the Alt key and released it. Since I use the Menu Bar all the time, I ended up reinstalling Firefox 3. From what I saw of Firefox 4 it seems to be a good upgrade, but I need my tool bars. Is there some other way to get the Menu bar without using the Alt key?

    The Firefox Button in the upper left has replaced the Menu Bar but you can, optionally use the Menu Bar; instructions below
    The Status Bar has been replaced by the Add-on Bar in Firefox 4, by can get some of the functionality by installing an Add-on; see below.
    <br />
    <br />
    You can turn the Menu Bar on/Firefox Button off in Firefox 4. You have the Menu Bar on.
    To '''''toggle''''' the Menu Bar on/off (Firefox Button off/on), do one of the following to check/un-check (on/off) Menu Bar:
    *HOLD the ALT key while pressing the letters VTM on your keyboard
    *Using the Menu Bar: click View > Toolbars, click Menu Bar
    *Using the Firefox Button: click Firefox Button > Options, click Menu Bar
    <br />
    <br />
    '''<u>The Status Bar has been eliminated and replaced by the Add-on Bar</u>'''. You can restore some of the prior Status Bar functionality on the new Add-on Bar by
    *installing the Status-4-Evar extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
    *Be sure the Add-on bar is diplayed at the bottom of the Firefox 4 window
    **Ctrl+/ toggles the Add-on Bar displayed or not displayed
    **Firefox button > Options '''''OR''''', if you are optionally using the Menu Bar instead of the Firefox button, View > Toolbars '''''OR''''' right-click in a blank space on a toolbar::
    ***if no check mark next to Add-on Bar, click Add-on bar to place a check mark.
    ***If Add-on bar has a check mark, it is already displayed
    *then drag 3 widgets to the Add-on Bar from the Customize Toolbar window (the 3 widgets are: Status Text, Progress Meter, Download Status). To open the Customize Toolbar window
    **Using Menu Bar: click View > Toolbars > Customize
    **Using Firefox button: click Firefox button, click small arrow to the right of Options, click Toolbar Layout
    **Note: Instead of either of the above, you can do as in the past, right-click an empty space in the Navigation toolbar and choose Customize
    *set options for Status-4-Evar:
    **Menu Bar: Tools > Add-ons, click on Status4Ever, click Options, set options to your liking
    **Firefox button: click Firefox button, click Add-ons, scroll down to Status-4-Evar, click Options, set options to your liking

  • How to customize the title bar on my own Look And Feel?

    Hi all!
    I am creating my own Look and Feel which extends from NimbusLookAndFeel. What I'm doing is overwriting UIDefaults values??, referring to the Painters. For example:
    +uiDefault.put ("Button [Enabled]", new ButtonEnabledPainter());+
    But now I need is to customize the title bar of the JFrame's, but I do not see this option in Painter's values ??can be overwritten by Nimbus (http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/lookandfeel/_nimbusDefaults . html).
    You know as possible? I have to overwrite an existing UI component? The idea is I want to make the look and feel like SeaGlass, but the code seems a bit complex to know where to begin.
    I hope you can guide me on this issue.
    Thank you very much for everything! And excuse my English!.

    To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data. See https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox
    You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
    To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
    For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • How can I change the width and color of the title bar of the JFrame

    I would like to use the UImanager to change the look and feel of the title bar on all of my JFrames. How is this possible.
    Thanks in advance.

    I appologize for being rude, and thank you for your response.
    The reason I did not respond was that I don't think that your answer solves the question of top level containers (specifically JFrame). I have been researching the net and some of the text books to come up with an answer before I respond. To this point, I believe that the answer has something to do with changing the boundary. If this is the case I'm within four or five hours of the solution, and will publish. If not, back to the drawing board.
