Why do we have to manually recreate our accounts each time the email server goes down?

On very infrequent occassions (fortunately), our email server will go off-line.  Whenever this happens, every one of us has to login to the Blackberry Internet Service website to reenter the account information.  This is very annyoing.  Why doesn't it just automatically reconnect when the email server goes back up?

No idea why. I'm guessing the the BIS system goes to check for email and can't find the account.  Then it sends you the email to revalidate and it won't check again until you do.  If it was setup to check too many times with, say, a wrong password, it may lock the account.  This is only a guess on my part. 
Your people with accounts setup like this should know how to go to their email setup on their device and validate the password.  It's not very complicated and takes only a moment.

    Did you ever fix this problem? The same thing happened when I just changed my kids passwords and now can't access their mail on their iPods or my iPad but I use the same email provider and mine is fine however I did not change my password.  If you fixed it how did you?

    If you aren't receiving the email to your rescue email account (and you've checked the spam folder on it as well as the inbox) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

  • Have to manually select my network each time I open an application

    We recently upgraded to an Intel iMac from a G3 iMac. Everything transferred great using the migration assistant. Our only problem is that we have to manually select our home network each time we open an application such as Safari. Once connected everything works great. It's a minor inconvenience but one I'd like to fix. Probably it's just a simple check box somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. Thanks in advance for any help.

    In the Network perference pane, under Airport, there is a setting that should read "By default join preferred networks." Beneath this setting, there is a list of preferred networks. Make sure that your home network is listed first, and/or delete all others (if any). Also, make sure that the setting "Disconnect from network upon logout" is not selected.

    Is there a way to add to the same RW DVD disk when backing up my itunes? I don't even come close to filling the disk with a full back up let alone having to use a new disk each time. What a waste of good space!!! What gives?

    Have you considered using either a jump drive or a portable hard-drive to back up your iTunes files?
    In the beginning, I was using a 8GB jump drive to back up my iTunes music folder. I ran out of space on that, so I purchased a 250GB portable hard drive and have been backing up my iTunes music folder on that. Very easy.....you just put the USB port of the hard-drive into your computer...COPY your iTunes music folder from the computer and PASTE it to the portable hard-drive.

  • Why do I have to install Connect Add-in each time I share desktop?

    Each time I want to share my desktop I am prompted to install the connect add-in.  It stays active while the browser is open, but when I close the browser and try again, I have to install it all over again.  Often the install hangs, and I have to cancel and install a dozen times to get it to install.  How do I install once and never again?

    Usually Muse only uploads files which have changed.
    A new version of Muse was released yesterday. If you're uploading your site for the first time with the new version, Muse will upload all files because some of the code generation has changed in the new version.
    The next time you upload with the same version of Muse, only the changed files should be uploaded.

    I have just upgraded to mountain lion and want to use the icloud. However, years ago I set up a mobile me account and can not remember my password. The email account I set up originally as a default email no longer exists so when I try and set up a new password I am unable to because I can't access the email address I put on file. Can anybody help?

    Are you particularly attached to your ex-MobileMe email address? - it sounds as if you haven't actually used it for very long time. Your easiest option would be to use the ID you have logged in with here to open an iCloud account and choose a new @icloud.com address.
    If you really want to reactivate the MobileMe email address (which is also the ID for that account) you will need to contact Support. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'All Products and Services' in the first column, 'More Products and Services' in the second column, then 'Apple ID' in the third column. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' in the first column then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password' and click 'Continue'. You will be offered options to contact Apple by phone.

  • Hi! I have NSMS 4.15 running on NT. The IMAP services goes down several times during a day. Why?

     

    You don't specify what version of NMS you're running, but be sure you install or have installed 4.15p7. Also be sure you're running on NT Service Pack 5 and <i>not</i> NT Service Pack 6.
    If the logs don't indicate anything specific, increase the logging level to DEBUG mode and gather more log data.
    The user-load would also be of interest to you. That is, is it occuring at 3:00am when four users are logged in or is it only happening between 9:00am and noon when thousands of users are hitting the server?
    Also be sure that you've disabled local.store.sharedfolders set to 'off'. Enabling them usually results in 100% cpu usage by the IMAP process, but if it is coupled with another event or problem could lend itself to a crash, too.
    But without more information on your environment, log files, events leading up to the crash, etc -- there's o way to answer 'why' at all.
    The already suggested reconstruct is a good bet -- especially for IMAP problems if your logs don't indicate anything useful.

  • Why do I have to Re-Register my Touch each time i sync it?

    Every time I connect my Touch, I have to repeat the registration process.
    This is a replacement Touch for one that I had that blew up on me.
    Only thing I can figure is, they made me register it at the store where the replaced it, and it tried to sync to their computer.
    Should a Restore fix it?

    Well, I was charging it and playing some music. I looked down, and the screen was bright White....I could not shut it off. I unplugged it and held down the buttons, it turned off and never turned back on again.
    It was extremely hot. Not enough to burn you, but sorta like a cup of coffee hot.
    They were not sure what happened, but i got a new (not refurbished) touch.
    Wish I could figure out this registration thing though.

  • I've set OpenOffice Writer as the default for downloding .doc files but everytime I download it the default is swriter. I have to manually select OpenOffice Writer each time. Any clue as to what's wrong ?

    I have a new desktop HP PC running windows 7. I have downloaded the OpenOffice suite having used it already for several months on my old PC. I didn't have this problem on my old PC (DELL D400 Windows XP) on which I previously used IE8.

    Cor-el's suggestion resolved my problem. Apparently the MOZ_NO_REMOTE variable was set to 1 on my system variables. I never made it, and really have no idea how it got there, but deleting this variable and restarting firefox has resolved the issue. Thanks Cor-el!

    Solution: Verify the MOZ_NO_REMOTE variable is NOT set to 1. This can be achieved by simply deleting this variable.

    Anytime I want to watch a video on the internet it says I must install a flash player so I go on line and download Adobe Flash player. But once I shut my computer down the flash player goes away.

  • Have to log into iCloud accounts each time Mail opens

    Since installing Mavericks, I now have to put my password in everytime Mail opens. I searched for this problem before posting, but I couldn't see my exact same problem. I tried doing this:
    >Click on the Go Menu,
    >Press the option key.
    >Click on Library
    >open containers
    >trash com.apple.mail.
    >Restart computer
    It did NOT solve it.
    Looking at the Prefs in Mail, the Password is not in there even after I enter it. All my other e-mails are fine. My iClous is also set up in the System Prefs and it is fine and logged in there.
