                          Can you please give valuable replies as why  should we restart the xi sevrer in particular period like once in a month like that

1. Can you please suggest why do we need to restart teh XI Server ?
It is not done on the frequent basis until you fae some problems like file adapter not appearing in the adapter configuration.....none of the adaters are present in ID (EX)
it will only start the servicess or other things which were hanging or not responding state.....
2. In what way it will be helpful for us ?
ot moght e helpfull some times but not always...it depends on the probelm you are facing...lot of problems can be solved without restarting the server
3. Will it clear any locks ? or any dump files ?
   Not sure
4. Is it recommended to star t and stop the sever ?
  Not recomded to do it frequenlty without any valid reason (until you apply some patches etc)

    Why do i need to restart my imac everyday like ten times to get it to work, also the screen displays little digital squares.

    Hi Matt,
    I purchased my imac in November of 2010 and below is a cut and past from Hardware overview. It has 1 TB hardrive, with 670 GB free. When i start up in the morning, it boots normal then freezes. Half the time i can get it to restart before it freezes, other half i have to power down then restart. At the same time throughout this process the little pixel squares show up sometimes in a single line or two aross the screen, then sometimes more random. After about 7 times of rebooting, everything runs fine for the day with no weird pixels. then i shut down at night, and start the porcess over in the morning. Thanks for your help!

    Hi kajbj,
    Java guys are mostly using TOMCAT,so for me it seems to be the best place.That's not correct. Most people who are writing stuff for the web might be using Tomcat, but there are lots and lots of Java applications that aren't for the web.
    Is there any other reason behind your question.Yes, this forum is named "New to Java" and Tomcat questions shouldn't be asked here, even if people knows the answer to you question. You will probably get better and more detailed answers in a Tomcat forum. All othe guys there are actually using Tomcat, and they know the small differences between the different versions, and how they behave on different operating systems. They do also know if you need to make configurations changes, and where you should make them.
    So in future, please ask questions in a forum that is specific to the product that you are using.

  • Why do I need to restart iTunes to hear audio on my Bluetooth headphones?

    I just bought a pair of Motorola S805 headphones, paired with an IOGear Bluetooth 2.0 dongle. If iTunes is running when I connect my headphones, I cannot get audio to play, no matter what I do in iTunes.
    If I shut down iTunes, wait a few seconds, I can hear audio again. This method is not 100%, as I may have to restart iTunes 2 or 3 times to hear audio.
    This is obviously just an annoyance, but I think that there should be a setting to allow iTunes to pick up new audio connections. Why do I need to go through this song & dance of restarting iTunes just to get audio working?
    I have my S805's paired correctly, and they are set as the Stereo Audio device through the Microsoft Bluetooth devices. Is there any iTunes or Bluetooth settings that I can adjust?

    Hi everyone, for the sake of posterity and if anyone encounters this problem, I have found a solution. I added a Motorola D200 bluetooth adaptor and I no longer have the problem. Since the D200 is an audio device it behaves better with iTunes.
    I think the original problem stems from the fact that iTunes does not play well with audio devices on the Microsoft Bluetooth stack. I suspect that iTunes does not check for audio device updates of this type.

  • Why do I need to restart to play a DVD movie?

    I'm not sure if this MacBook related or Leopard related. When I put a DVD in my internal or external optical drive my MacBook locks up completely and a message appears stating that I need to restart by holding down the power button or using the reset button. I hold the power button down to shut the MB down and then I reboot and I'm able to play the movie which is still in the drive. These are original commercial movie DVDs and the problem is repeatable with different movies.
    Any ideas why this would be happening?

    I'm still experiencing this problem and can't pin it down so if anyone can understand these things I'd appreciate it. I have of course used the Report function to send Apple this panic log:

  • Need client copy of production server in quality server

    Hi,
    I need the client copy of production server with application data in quality server. How i do this?
    Main purpose is we have no data in quality server in testing purpose.  if we configure the client of production server in Quality, we can test it by our requirement.

    Try this
    Preparatory steps in source SAP system
    1 Take the trace of control file in the source system using the following command at SQL prompt as below:
    SQL>alter database backup controlfile to trace;
    The trace file can be found in the location <drive>\Oracle\<SID>\saptrace\usertrace.
    2. Open the file with notepad and save a copy as controlsrc.txt
    3. Stop the SAP
    4 Shutdown the database from SQL prompt.
    5. Take backup of database files.
    6. Start SAP
    Steps in the Target system
    7. Install SAP system with <TGTSID>
    8. Stop the SAP.
    9. Shutdown the database from SQL prompt.
    10. Take the backup of database files.
    11. Edit controlfilesrc.txt with regard to the locations of datafiles of source system to be placed in target system taking in to account the space available in different drives and save as control.sql. Also SET DATABASE u201C<TGTSID>u201D RESETLOGS.
    12. Replace the database files with source systems database files conforming to the control.sql
    13. Start the database in nomount state from SQL prompt as below.
    SQL>startup nomount
    14. Run the control.sql script as follows:
    SQL>@@<location of directory>\control.sql.
    Once the script runs successfully, the database will be in mount state
    15. Open the database with resetlogs option as follow:
    SQL>alter database open resetlogs;
    16. Create OPS$ users of source system conforming to target system conventions in database.
    17 Set the environment variable dbs_ora_schema to SAP<SRCSID> as the owner of the database objects will still be as SAP<SRCSID>..
    18. Start SAP.

  • Why do I need to restart Apache and Tomcat every time a java file is change

    If a java file is changed and complied the changes are not reflected if Tomcat is not restarted.
    The settings in server.xml are as:
    <!-- Tomcat Manager Context -->
    <Context path="/manager" docBase="manager" debug="0" privileged="true"/>
         <Context path="/cf" docBase="cf" debug="0" reloadable="false"/>
    Here "cf" is my Application folder under webapps. The reloadable property when set to "true" for standalone Tomcat on Windows98 reflects the changes for compiled java files without restarting Tomcat. But on Linux 7.1 with Apache 1.3.19 and Tomcat 4.0.3 this is not working.
    Also tried out with Manager Application of tomcat-users.xml with reloadable="false" as well as reloadable="true",
    But when I reload the application using the command
    http://servername:8080/manager/reload?path=/appli.name
    It tells me that the application is reloaded but changes in the java file are still not reflected.
    Also when reloaded through Manager Servlet, Only my load-on-startup servlet is reloaded, but other java classes are not.
    Is it neccessary to execute this reload command from the server itself. I m executing it from a remote m/c. and have mapped the application with a domain name virtually.
    Is it the case with Tomcat on Linux with Apache. Or is something going wrong on my part.
    Can someone Help out plz.

    Rupali

    or you can "touch" your web.xml file.
    touch web.xmlor that command is for *nix systems, not sure what the Windows command is.  But basically, when you edit the web.xml, even if it means updating the last modified time, it will restart only your application and you should see the changes.

  • Why I need to restart my my server to update my servlet in WL5.1

              Hai
              We have servlets and ejbs in our acchitecture and using weblogic5.1. For EJBs
              weblogic have given hot deploy. But for every change of servlets currently we
              are stopping the server and replacing the servlet class and starting the server.
              Since we getting drastic changes we need to update or deploy servlet in the existing
              running server. Is there any thing is available for servlets or normal classes
              to update in the server. Thanks In Advance

              Hi,
              What is the service pack you are using?
              You should be able to dynamically load the servlet classes.
              Please make sure that you put your servlet classes in servlet classpath:
              weblogic.httpd.servlet.classpath=....
              For every reload check secs server will check for any changes in the classes
              and loads if they are changed.
              Also make sure that you do not have the same class in the system classpath.

  • Wierd ClassCastExeption. Do I always need to restart web logic server?

    I salute the web development community and thank you in advance for taking the time to read my problem. I just started trying out Jdeveloper. While writing applications, as they become more complex I find myself with the annoying task of restarting the server every time I make changes in my code. For example: in a simple application, the user specifies the Country in an html form and the server gives it's cities in a jsp page. To do this I used the EJB beans to convert my database into entities and the created a Java service facade. My application is now working fine, but if I make even the tiniest change in the code, it totally crashes and I have to restart the server for the changes to take place. The question is: Do I have to start getting used to the annoying task of restarting the server every time I modify my code? Or due to the fact that I',m just starting out in Jdeveloper I might be doing something wrong. This is the exception that I get that causes the 500 internal server error:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: model.countries cannot be cast to model.countries

    Thanks again for your help and time.

    Hello pedja,
    No, re-deploying the project doesn't work. What do you mean by Classloader issues?
    This exception occours at the EntityManager class that talks with the database, right here:
    /** <code>select o from Paises o where o.codigopais = :elCodigo</code> */
    public Paises getPaisesFindPaisById(Object elCodigo) {
    Paises elPais;
    Object o = getEntityManager().createNamedQuery("Paises.findPaisById").setParameter("elCodigo", elCodigo).getResultList().get(0);
    elPais = (Paises)o;
    return elPais;
    in: elPais = (Paises)o
    If I call the method above within the same class nothing happens... It crashes when I call this method from a Servlet.

  • Need to transfer/migrate production server from HP-Unix to SuseLinux 11.5

    Background : We are having ECC 6.0 running on HP Unix
    What we need to do : want to migrate the entire production application to a new server under o/s SuseLinux 11.5 certified by SAP AG
    What we are doing : there is a utility called Software Developer Tool DRYRUN using this utility want to export application to storage and from store we shall restore the application into the new server under o/s SuseLinux 11.5
    What error I am getting :
    Sapinst could not find the required software logistics java libraries DIAGNOSTS. The global directory may not be available at u2018/usr/sap/fpp/flobalu2019 or its contain may not be up-to-date in addition the version of the SAP NetwWeaver java system might be lower than AP6. SOLUTION, Mound the global directory and/or apply the latest support package.
    Using above method we could migrate development server to SuseLinux 11.5 successfully.
    If I have posted this question on wrong forum pl. guide me
    Thanks
    Nitin

    Hi Nitin,
    Just to check with you, OS/DB migrations has to be performed following certain rules. HPUX is big endiand and Linux is little endian so an Heterogeneous system copy should be performed and theres only a few supported ways to perform the migration. Have you check that the usage of DRYRUN is ok and that your system will be supported after the migration?...

  • Update Planning table but need to restart Web application server

    Hi All,
    We want to update the process state externally. After updating table, Windows services (Web application server) need to be restarted.
    However, the updating operation could be done frequently so that we can get real-time result. How to notify Planning application to refresh its data without restarting services ?
    Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.
    Edited by: kyhsu on 2009/11/24 下午 10:59

    Hi,
    Planning uses a caching system where it caches the current state of the relational tables. If changes are made in planning then the cache is updated and the tables.
    If you update the tables directly the cache will not be updated so planning will still hold its previous state. I don't think there is an easy way round this and there is no simple update cache procedure.
    If you do need to update tables directly then the only sure way of clearing the cache is to restart the web app.
    Cheers
