  • Why does iphone use cellular data to contact internet when wifi is available?

If I leave Mobile Data (or Cellular Data) enabled on my iphone,
I find that the phone uses my carrier phone service to access the internet about 10 times
per day. The accesses tend to be mostly very small data transfers (say about 10KB).
I have no idea why these transfers are taking place, but I can see them on my Vodofone bills.
Since I am rarely away from my home wifi facility, I would also expect any access to
use wifi as a first choice, and notify me if there was a need to use cellular access.
So I have 2 questions. What are these data transfers that I am not explicitly requesting,
and why are these data transfers not made through free home wifi as a first choice.
Apple has advised me to turn off mobile data unless I am away from my free wifi.
    Mike

Thanks for the reply. I haven't used visual voicemail. My preference would be for any data transfer to be done on wifi when wifi is available. Battery life is not currently an issue for me. I do think that it shoud be possible to find out which service or app is causing the data transfer. Although I am not near my data limit at present, I do think that I have a right to know why a service, for which
    i pay, is bring used.

  • Why standard programs uses the OCCURS statement

    Hi Experts,
instead of occurs we usually use STANDARD TABLE OF due to performance issue ,
but i noticed that stadard programs are using OCCURS statement only.
could u plz tell me why stadard programs are using OCCURS only.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Occurs Statement created the internal table with header line. But Header Line is not supported in Oop's Concept. So it is better practice to create the table with TYPE/LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF statement without specifying Header line option in declaration.
Yes in most of the standard Programs OCCURS statement are used. This is because these are SAP standard and developed in older version of sap.

  • Data usage - IOS 5.1 - Using cell data when connected to my WiFi

    Hi all,
Can anyone help please... My iphone 4s has used 7mb of cell data since yesterday even though I haven't left the house and have constantly been connected to a wifi network.
Does anyone know why this is ?
I have noticed that when I switch the phone on and off it seems to use cell data (having checked my data allowance before and after).
Also, I have the ...wtih friends game (Words and Hanging) and they have the badge numbers displayed in red when it's my go. Could it be that ?
All my location services are off, expect for the cell search, maps and siri    (do I need siri to use my location???)
Why is it using cell data when I have constantly been connected to wifi ?
    Please help
    Thanks

    Thanks
I would suspect thats the Diagnostics and Usage. Go to settings>general>about>diagnostics and usage and set for "dont send". Also settings>location services>system services>diagnostics and usage>switch off.
I will say I am not 100% on what the switch actually does but the send automatically definitely sends the data to Apple

  • How do you remove back up data from the memory storage? my storage data states that i have over 80gb of data used for back ups and i dont know why as i use a external hard drive as a time machine .now my 250gb flash storage is nearly full

how do you remove back up data from the memory storage? my storage data states that i have over 80gb of data used for back ups and i dont know why as i use a external hard drive as a time machine .now my 250gb flash storage is nearly full.. HELP!

When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.

  • SELECT statement using XML data taking way too long.

Hi all, I am using SQL Server 2005.
I have an issue which I find hard to describe. The server that I am using contains two test databases which are (supposed to be) identical. They both have tables named EVENTS with identical fields. I am using XML data to query and update data to this table.
When I run the SELECT in one database, against the EVENTS table it takes a long time. The longest I've kept it running is 2:30 minutes. When I run it against the EVENTS table in the other database the results are almost instantaneous. I've created a test
    query to duplicate this behavior:
    declare @ValidXMLInput xmlset @ValidXMLInput = '<EVENTS>
    <EVENT EID="8077" EDATE="2014-07-20 10:15"
    USERID="GTJ789" LOCID="7016" STATE="0" />
    </EVENTS>'
    SELECT Col.value('@EID','VARCHAR(5)'),Col.value('@STATE','INT')
    FROM @ValidXMLInput.nodes('//EVENTS/EVENT') Tab(Col)
    left join tblEvents on
     tblEvents.EvIdNum=Col.value('@EID','VARCHAR(5)') And
     tblEvents.EvDate=Col.value('@EDATE','DATETIME') And
      tblEvents.UserId=Col.value('@USERID','VARCHAR(8)') And
    tblEvents.EvLocId=Col.value('@LOCID','VARCHAR(8)')
    where tblEvents.EvIdNum Is Null
Basically, the above query returns all rows in the XML table that are not in the database table. The results are then passed on to other statements. The columns in the join are key fields for tblEvents and have a PK index for both tables (in each db).
Now the issue that I am having. When I use an EID in the XML data of any other value (as presented in the example above), such as '3477' the query runs fast on both databases; however, when I specifically use an EID of '8077' then the query slows down to
a point where it takes more than 2:30 minutes (after which I cancel the execution). This only happens with one of the databases.
For testing purposes I've created an XML structure with only one item. Both tables have approximate 111 million records. One table contains about 900K records with an EID of 8077. The other table contains about 930K records with this EID. There aren't many
differences in the data. The records with the EID of 8077 (the slow one) are for different dates, users and locations. I should also mention that although the data presented here for EID consists of number, provisions exist where the number may be prefixed
by a letter; hence the varchar designation.
My question to you all is: How can I start troubleshooting this issue? Should I be looking at indexes?
I had some doubt about this because the query is fast for other EIDs. Why would it get "stuck" with this particular one?
Any troubleshooting advice is welcomed. Thanks! Saga
Insanity is the prelude to discovery

    Some thoughts:
Is there a hardware difference between the two databases ? E.g. are they on the same disk (array) ?
Is there anything else running on your server besides your SQL instance ?
Do you see spikes in I/O, CPU or both ?
Maybe there is locking on one DB that's not happening in the other.
You should check indexes and statistics plus compare estimated execution plan between the two DBs.

  • Wat is the use of "DATA var-name LIKE SY-INDEX" statement

    Hi to all,
is there any use of "DATA <var-name> LIKE SY-INDEX"  statement in ABAP, do the variable <var-name> be changed with that of SY-INDEX when we declare like this.
Could u give me a fast response,
                                            Thank you,
                                                 Srinivasa Rao k.

    hi check this example..
    data: v_index type sy-index value 10 .
    do 15 times .
    if sy-index = v_index .
    write:/ 'the system index is 10 '.
    exit.
    endif.
    enddo.
the main use of the index is used in the hr programs..
the user wants the emp salary and previous months   salary then you need to use the index .
if the table had 10 records .then you need to catch the record of  index1(current) and index 2(for previous month)..
select pernr ansal  from pa0008 into table it_pa0008 where pernr in s_pernr and begda in s_begda .
    loop at it_pa0008.
    case sytabix.
    when 1 .
    it_final-cursal =  it_pa0008-ansal.
    when 2 .
    it_final-prevsal =  it_pa0008-ansal.
    endcase .
    endloop.

  • Using the Insert statement in a Java program without hardcoding the data

    hello.
this is james mcfadden. i have developed a program called Demo.java, which is used with another program called QueryTableModel.java (a program that allows data to be viewed in a JTable). The Demo.java program displays a menu, connects to a database, allows the user to add data into the database and allows the user to view data that is already in the database. I have a problem with the Demo.java program. I have hardcoded the Insert statement in it. How do you use the Insert statement to put data into a database without hardcoding the data?

    iPhone 5 iOS 8.1
Settings > Mobile > Use Mobile Data For: Settings
Just curious, why does the iPhone need this turned on? Why does the settings app need a cellular mobile data connection?
If you turn it off, you're pestered to turn it on every time you go into settings?

Because, that's the way Siri works...it needs an Internet connection...requests are sent to Apple's servers. No Internet, no Siri.

Try resetting Photoshop Preferences.   Use your Photoshop start icon to launch Photoshop and immediately press and hole Shift+Ctrl|CMD+Alt|Option keys   Photoshop should Prompt you with Do you want your Preferences deleted. Reply yes.   Photoshop should then delete your user ID preferences and then create a default set of preferences for your ID and start successfully.

    Hello,

    ITAB-DATE = '20000101'. APPEND ITAB.

    ITAB-DATE = '20020101'. APPEND ITAB.
    ITAB-DATE = '20030101'. APPEND ITAB.
    ITAB-DATE = '20040101'. APPEND ITAB.
    ITAB-DATE = '20050101'. APPEND ITAB.
    ITAB-DATE = '20060101'. APPEND ITAB.
    ITAB-DATE = '20070101'. APPEND ITAB.
    ITAB-DATE = SY-DATUM.   APPEND ITAB.
    ITAB-DATE = '20080101'. APPEND ITAB.
LOOP AT ITAB WHERE DATE < SY-DATUM.
      WRITE: / 'before', ITAB-DATE.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Why am i using so much data since downloading IOS8

why am i using so much data since downloading IOS8

Don't know -- but you can do a little detective work by going to Settings > Cellular and look at the apps in the section titled "Use Cellular Data For." Each app that has used data will show the amount used since the statistics were last reset. If you tap on "System Services" at the bottom of that list it will show the details of system usage. You can reset the statistics at the bottom of the screen. Checking those numbers for a while should help identify what is going on.

while executing the program, after this statement i m getting an output.  but i need to store it in memory, not to display the output.
    Waiting for ur reply..
    Thanks and Regards
    Virendra

    Hi.
I have not done this kind of requirement. What i said was just an option which came to my mind. Also not sure whether it will work for you. While submitting ,instead of exporting list to memory do submit to SAP-SPOOL. Then later read the spool content to internal table.
I am referring you two links for this.
    [Submit to SAP-SPOOL|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABAPSUBMIT_LIST_OPTIONS.htm]
[Spool to Internal table|spool file data to internal table].
Also search for related topic in SCN.
