Why do you decomition older products even if they hold great use

Recently my ipod the 4th generation was decomentioned and alot of other peoples to. If i'd jail broke my ipod
it still could hold updates it leads to my conclusion that you do this to get people to bie your new products.
Imagine what steve Jobs would of thought of doing this.

Older devices are not supported with the latest operating system or applications if that hardware is not sufficient to give the user a good experience.  That is not limited to Apple...all software does that at some point.  Hardware has to keep up with the demands of more and more features added to software.

  • Why are questions shown as wrong even though they are selected to be the right questions?

I tested my module after publishing and everything works great except the quiz. When I take the quiz, I get almost all of my answers wrong even though the answers that I select are the right answers chosen before publishing. Is this a bug with Captivate 8 or is there something I'm not doing right? Thanks!

User error.  That makes sense now.
Just a tip: Having a Next button as well as a Submit button visible on a quiz slide is asking for trouble.  I hide my Next buttons UNDERNEATH the Clear button.  That way, they are visible ONLY when the user is Reviewing the quiz.  That's about the only time they're actually needed anyway.

  • When they donot replace it by new phone then why the service center say that you will get new i phone .they take good chages for even for old one

I send my s4 for repair the i phone service center say thar they will replace it by new phonr .i think this is not right .this way they are mis guideing .

Are you referring to the use of either a new or refurbished phone as a warranty replacement?  That is spelled out in the warranty, and is common practice in the electronics industry world-wide.  A refurbished unit has been repaired/reconditioned and fully tested by the factory, and carries the same warranty as a new unit.  I have yet to see a refurbished Apple product that did not look almost brand new with the complete packaging and instruction materials.  Most refurbished units are customer returns because they changed their mind.  These units go back to the factory for testing and cleanup, but cannot be sold as new even if they weren't used.
Or, are you saying that you expect your phone to be repaired instead of getting a replacement phone?  I am not aware of any company that sends phones back to the factory for repair and makes you wait for the work to be completed.   You always get a replacement phone instead.

So there goes that plan into pieces... How to I fix that case? Buying an old ilife and try to intall it?
That will work.  The latest version of iWeb does run on Lion (with a couple of quirks).
But be aware that iWeb is clearly a dead end;  fixes/updates/improvements are highly unlikely, and it may quit working with new versions of OSX (possibly even future updates to Lion).
If you're using MobileMe as a host, that will stop in June of 2011, so you'll have to move your site elsewhere.  You can still use iWeb with it; a few changes are required on the Site Publishing Settings page, of course, but they're pretty simple.  And a few features won't work, but there are workarounds for them.
I recently moved my iWeb site from MobileMe to GoDaddy, and it was relatively painless.
See https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/iweb for much more discussion.

  • Why do YOU use Apple's Server product?

So...I've been running 10.5 server for maybe 2 years. The services I use are: AFP SMB DHCP DNS Firewall Mail NAT Web VPN. I went from using linux (slackware no less) to using OS X Server. My issue here is....honestly it feels like OS X Server is a GUI wrapped around a closed source kernel and everything else open source. Paying $500 for something I could pretty much do myself is where I have an issue...and the fact that the admin gui is pretty limited. Even today I still have to manually edit natd to use ppp0 as an interface. I guess if people needed OD and all that jazz maybe it's worth it....so my question to all is the subject...why do YOU use it?

AFP, mail, web - because AFP is the best choice in many instances for fileserving Mac OS X clients,
and also (why OS X Server) because clients do not want to pay me what it actually takes to build it on my own, and I'm not going to do that for free for the "benefit" of not paying for it with my own time.
What's provided is a pretty excellent base set of tools, and I can easily update clamav, amavisd-new and spamassassin manually which I'd be doing anyway on any other platform.
As of 10.5, Postfix is a current enough version to do what I need, and I'm comfortable manually editing the config to get it to do all of what I want.
I just don't have to spend ridiculous amounts of time building all of this,
and with OS X (software and hardware) I get Target-disk mode, a far better GUI when I need it (not much), and the portability of a system drive is actually immeasurably better than I'm going to get with any other platform & OS out there. If you haven't experienced that yet then you don't know.
Yes there are limits to that, but that's negligable compared to how thoroughly un-portable a system drive is anywhere else. To an extreme degree.
NetBoot/NetInstall, asr, ease & portability of system images,
The great benefit (OS X client) of commercial software (Adobe, Office, etc. ) alongside perl, python, ruby, shell scripting, etc.

  • It appears you have no support. Why should I purchase your products

No support why should i purchase your products ?

These are user to user forums, no one here is selling you any products.  As far as support goes, if you look around you will see that plenty of support is offered for people who post their issues here, and fairly quickly at that.  There are also support channels for directly contacting Adobe that are clearly advertised in their web site.  Where are you looking that you conclude there is no support?

  • Why dont you show how much power is on the chip in the tech? i want to know the power not what kind of chip it is. i dont even feel like getting an iphone because of this anymore. i dont care about screen i want power of phone...

    why dont you?

I agree with Kurt; your question makes little sense. What sort of "power" are you referring to?
And please note that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. We're all just fellow users here.
    Regards.

  • WHY IS IT THAT ADOBE OFFERS POOR ASSISTANCE ON OLDER PRODUCTS?

I have Dreamweaver CS3 which I upgraded from an earlier version. The other day my computer crashed and after I have rebuilt and reloaded all the othe programs I have, it's only dreamweaver I cannot reload, nor can I get any help from Adobe. Apparently something happened in the configeration so I am held up and frustrated because their is no clear method for me to get help from Adobe.
That will be a big mistake Adobe, I go somewhere else and make sure many will know of poor service.
    Bill

    Windows XP.
The drive was not wiped just certain sections, then we reloaded the
operating system and reloaded all the programs. Drteamweaver is the only
system that has given me a problem. That is why I went back to them for
support. We are using Dreamweaver CS3.
Thanks for the advice and help,
    Bill

  • Lenovo... why did you "DownGrade" the ThinkPads?

Dear Sirs, this is a complain and I hope someone will read it in order to make Lenovo ThinkPad's product line become the top choice again.
I'm a ThinkPad user since... the '90. As a result I know the product and I use it daily. I've purchased a new T440 and basically my complain is about the quality. My feeling is that you "DownGraded" the ThinkPad and I don't understand why. You already have a low-cost line of products (IdeaPad). Why overlapping the two lines? ThinkPads are professional products, not consumer. I will be more precise why some examples:
    a. The ETH port is located on the right side. Most people are right-handed and use a mouse. Mouse and ETH cable on the same right side don't work well.
    b. The cover has nothing that helps opening it. How are you expected to open the cover? With one finger... with two fingers... holding the bottom down?
    c. The keyboard misses several keys and leds that are needed:
    1. CAPS LOCK: who much does a CAPS LOCK led cost? Nothing and it saves a lot of time.
    2. Contextual Menu: usually a key located between "AltGr" and "Ctrl". Very useful when typing text and running grammar correction. Don't answer that I can use the mouse because this is the typical answer by someone that doesn't use PCs for typing.
    3. The Numerical Keys.
    4. The HDD activity LED. When a PC doesn't respond as expected (or even freezes for a while) the first thing you look at is the HDD LED. There is no one any more.
    5. The PAUSE Key.
    d. ONLY 2 USB ports.
The T440 is my Company's Laptop and I personally own a X301. I was considering buying a new ThinkPad for my personal use in place of the X301 but after this T440 experience I'm considering other products.
Please let me know what you think and share with us what are you planning for the near future.
    Thank you.

  • TS3989 Only some of the photos I have taken on my iPhone appear in the photo stream on my iPad even thou they were taken at the same time. Why is this and how can I import the other photos from my iPhone to my iPad?

Only some of the photos I have taken on my iPhone appear in the photo stream on my iPad even thou they were taken at the same time. Why is this and how can I import the other photos from my iPhone to my iPad?

If older photos are missing it may be because photo stream photos are only held in iCloud for 30 days.  After that they are removed from iCloud but will remain (up to 1000 photos) on your device until deleted.  Also, only photos taken after enabling photo stream are added to your photo stream, and only when the camera is closed, your device is connected to wifi and you have at least 20% battery life remaining.
To transfer the missing photos you can either create a shared photo stream containing them and invite yourself to it (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99), import the photos to your computer and sync them to your iPad, or use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your iPad over wifi.

trying to install airport 5.6 to configure old UFO airport but doesn't show up in the app utility folder. How do you configure older Airports in OS X 10.7.5??

    David Why? wrote:

Use the technique described in this thread: I can't install airport utility 5.6
Though it discusses Mountain Lion, you need to follow the exact same steps for OS X 10.7.5.
I no longer have any original AEBSs to test. You may need an even earlier version of AirPort Utility. If AirPort Utility 5.6 cannot configure yours, let me know and I will attempt to find the correct version for you. You will need to use the same "extraction" technique described above.
Edit: If 5.6 does not work try this one: AirPort Utility 5.5.3
Important: If you elect to drag that version to your Utilities folder, be sure to give it a unique name. I suggest "AirPort Utility 5.5.3" This is not necessary for AirPort Utility 5.6, which will retain that name on its own.
