Why does 1 movie use up 3GB / $30 worth of credit?

I have purchased the Lost series 1 from iTunes for $24.95. It will not download on my 3G ipad 2. So i connect my ipad to my computer and try to download it that way. It is costing $30 worth of internet credit (on my prepaid 3G drive) to download just 2 episodes. If i continue this way,the whole series will end up costing me $450! Help please! I have tried going to an internet cafe with wifi, but i would be sitting in there for a week if i try to download the series.

What type of internet access do you have at home?
If you have broadband (cable/DSL), you can download the shows to your computer then sync to the iPad from the computer.
If you only have cellular/3G internet access at home, then it's gonna take a lot of time and money to download.

• Why does watching movies using iTunes & Netflix judder on Apple TV?

I have connected my Apple TV to my network both wireless & ethernet but still get the same issue. The judder seems to happen more on sweeping camera shots. It doesn't cause a movie to be unwatchable but it is off putting and am disgruntled when I have bought some movies via iTunes. If this issue happened with a DVD, I could take it straight back to the shop as a faulty product but from what I've read this seems to be a known problem. Same judder happens on Netflix however if I play it via my PS3 then it's seamless. I have also swapped over HDMI cables with various low to high end but again makes no difference. I don't believe it's the way the iTunes & Netflix apps are written on the Apple TV as they both have this judder. As mentioned earlier, Netflix works fine on the PS3 so that also eliminates my internet connection (Virgin Media Optic 60MB). So it leads me to believe that it is either a configuration, hardware or firmware issue on the Apple TV itself. Details are Model MD199B/A, Serial C07KJABBFF54, Apple TV Software 5.3 (6105) & TV Resolution 1080p HD - 60Hz. All Audio & Video settings are set to Auto however I have tested with specific HDMI & TV resolution outputs with the same results. In case it helps, I have a Samsung Smart TV UE46D6500 and I turn off my Apple TV every night. I hope one of you has a solution to this. Many thanks.

The Apple TV doesn't support .mkv.

It's right at an hour (consistently), but the computer goes to sleep prior to that. It's as if iTunes goes to sleep. Also, it wasn't always this way. Originally, the movies played through without interruption. At some point, I guess a setting was changed, and now I only get an hour. Also. My energy settings are set to go to sleep at 10 minutes.

• HT1657 why does every movie I download stops half way and says err=-50/err=-39?

Why does every movie I download stop half way and say err=-50/err-39? I also have internet connection that is really good and it keeps saying to check that

Perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

• HT1600 Why does a movie on my computer take an hour to download to AppleTV?

Why does a movie on my computer take an hour and more to download to AppleTV?

You keep changing the subject without closure, however if you did enter the correct password and it wasn't accepted, it was most likely the result of a networking issue with your network and nothing to do with whether or not the Apple TV is intuitive or not.
I found some movies that I purchased were still on the "cloud".
Yes, that's how it is supposed to work, movies purchased from the iTunes Store are always available through the 'Movie' feature.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

It doesn't really matter if an AppleTV2 has to re-download since using the same bandwidth twice doesn't effect the user. There are no data caps on home internet like there are on 3G cellular service.
Many home internet services do have caps, at least in the UK, and I suspect elsewhere to. My current service is capped at 100GB/month for downloads, though I rarely use that much.
I recall a post from someone a few months ago who said that during the course of watching/rewatching a single HD rental they'd used over 20GB of their monthly usage allocation which is a significant chunk if you do have a cap.

• Why does Mozilla Firefox use Google as their web search if Google stores everything we search?

Why does Mozilla Firefox use Google as their search engine if Google stores everything you search and track what you do online? I've got nothing against Firefox, I'm just wondering why.

I just figured they wouldn't have since they don't track what people do. I figured they were against that.

Why does a movie I bought on iTunes not work without internet?

As long as the film has been fully downloaded (or synced from your computer's iTunes) then you should be able to watch it in the iPad's Videos app without needing to be online - is that how you are trying to view it ?

• Why does Adobe Reader use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out now, rather than actually scroll?

Why does Adobe Reader use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out rather than actually, um, scroll? I can't find anywhere to change this function in Preferences, either.

I had the same problem on my Windows 8 touch screen laptop. It was driving me crazy! Every time I tried to scroll a page down, the program would zoom the page! Made reading an ebook difficult.
I finally found the solution:
Under Edit select Preferences - General
Uncheck "Make Hand Tool Use mouse-wheel zooming".

• Why does a movie/preview freeze when I try to watch it on my itouch?

Why does my itouch freeze when I try to watch a movie/preview from itunes? I tried to watch the preview. I don't want to purchase a movie if that is what is going to happen. The signal on the itouch has full strength. It works when I watch a music video that I have purchased from Itunes. I also have Belkin G-801.11 which is what is required according to the itouch instructions. I have only had the itouch three days and I returned one because of the same thing.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
